Rate this book
Would you be willing to die, for a chance to live?

The rulers of the eight thrones have been suppressing humanity for centuries. Eliminating those with a rare blood type that is deadly to their kind, they use the rest as nothing more than playthings, and blood banks. But their arrogance helps one girl slip their notice…

April has struggled to survive on the streets her entire life. Now, she finds herself with a powerful vampire claiming she is a long-lost matron of their kind.

A revolution is brewing in the shadows, and word is spreading of new blood rising to remove the monsters from the thrones. Unfortunately, for that to happen, April must die.

Did she survive this long just to give up her life for a fight that’s not even her own?

Will she be their salvation?

Wow this was better than I was expecting. This is one of the better vampire stories I've read in a while. There's action, intrigue, rebellion, and a cursed reincarnated Mother of all vampires that if I assume correctly is about to open a can of whoop ass on everyone is book two. I really enjoyed this and can't wait to read the next one to find out what the hell happens now.

On a side note I don't usually nitpick typos or grammatical errors but these just bothered me in this book: It is slaughter, not slather...that's what you do when you put on too much lotion and it happened 4-5 times in the book, tears leak out of eyes not leek...that's a vegetable, and embers smolder not ambers that one was used twice. I honestly don't know how those didn't get caught by editing since there were relatively little errors in the book.

Anyhoo....the story was good and I recommend it.

4.5.

A decent vampire book I haven't already read? These are like gold dust!

I lived the writing style pretty much from the start. It had a dark and gripping quality to it that sucked me in. I also really liked April, I think because she just felt like such a realistic character. Her chemistry and the backwards and forwards nature of their relationship is one I really enjoyed as well.

It's not perfect, however. There are some really silly and obvious errors, like a few wrong words or missing words, which isn't normally something that I notice massively, because I'm not exactly reading Dickens, but I did feel they were quite obvious in places. There are also a couple of continuity issues, which bugged me. For example, if you live in a sewer, fish around for food is dumpster and haven't bathed in goodness knows when, to deliberately hide you smell from vampires, the concept that you somehow find time to shave your legs, just because it makes you feel feninie, did get an incredulous snort out of me. That was pretty silly.

But, those issues aside, this is one of the best new vampire books I have read for a good chunk of time and definitely recommend.

The world as you knew it has gone. All that is left is fear and survival. These are the tenets of April's childhood, ever since she was left in a sewer by her parents. Her brother is missing, presumed dead. America is ruled by eight cruel vampires, called The Council. And then it gets worse... the Italians show up! April is determined to stay off the radar, even though she is trying to help a couple of other people, plus a dog, Mutt. Through one circumstance and then another, she ends up meeting the Italians, and her life changes for good.

This was an amazing story that swept me up within the first few paragraphs. Maya Daniels has such a descriptive way with words that you are immediately able to visualise what April is going through, and how much she fears, and also how much she wants to live. I loved the chemistry between Sebastian and April, and I can't wait to continue with their story, as I'm sure the sparks will continue to fly. April is no pushover, and Sebastian is used to getting his own way. Just how Andrei and Marcus are going to fit in, I'm not sure, but like I said, I can't wait to continue.

Completely enthralling, from start to finish, this book sets up the scene, draws you in, and leaves you wanting more. I absolutely loved it, and can't wait to continue with their story! Highly recommended by me!!!

Great start to a fantastic series!

I need more!

Maya Daniels is a force to be reckoned with. The books she writes are just so freaking good.

Risorgimento: Rebirth is book 1 of the New Blood Rising series and I’m already hooked. This is a paranormal meets dystopia kind of read. A definite dream come true for me.

April has been on her own since she was 10 yrs old. Hiding in the streets and sewers like the other humans not wanting to succumb to vampire compulsion. Out one night, April is kidnapped which lands her in the hands of Sebastian, a powerful vampire who turns out had been looking for her to fulfill a prophecy. And man, things take off quickly from there

The story was a fantastic read; it was entertaining, well written and more importantly unique

You wont want to put this one down

Wow.... This book is amazing!! It is so well written, it has epic characters and you do not want to read the last page. Because then you know you will be waiting for book 2. There are monsters who will be taken down. April has lived on the streets all her life she has fought to live but will she? She has a vampire telling her she is the long lost matron of their kind. But she has to die, for this to be true. After everything she did to survive is this the end? It is said that new blood is rising who will defeat the monsters. Is this what will happen? Grab this book to find out. It is a definite must read!!!

This book had me hooked within the first chapter!! If you like Vampire Academy, Twilight and Blood like Poison you will love this book!
April is used to surviving on her own ~ hiding from her not so fellow humans and the monsters of the night but lady luck runs out on her and she lands in the hands of the monster of all monsters!
I couldn't stop turning the pages to find out what happens next! The world and all the characters are so well written that reading really is effortless and enjoyable which adds to the whole experience.
I can't wait to find out what happens next!
I'm calling it now ~ This is going to be an Epic series!!

Another amazing book by this author, they just keep getting better.
The story grips you as do the characters, April and Sebastian and let's not forget the dog. The description of the world and scenery is detailed and easy to picture.
The story unravels slowly but it doesn't feel as such while reading it. The dialogues are sophisticated
yet easy to read and there are some real funny parts in it.
I can't wait to read the second book of the trilogy.

It's not often these days to find a book at random that completely takes you away. I knew I was in trouble when I was hooked by the second page. I read it in one sitting. And now I'm left wanting more!! So, Ms. Daniels, when is the next one coming out? Cause I want it now!

A brand-new vampire series that is definitely spinning a unique tale by the great author Maya Daniels. April lives in a time of vampires ruling everyone. The humans fought a great battle but lost, and the only thing that seemed to kill vampires was having type O negative blood. April’s parents abandoned her at ten in an alley. She was attacked one night and the vamp died. She now knows she carries the blood everyone else was killed for having. Ten years later, the Italians come to town and invoke terror, even in the council. Sebastian is their leader and he is here to fulfill a prophecy to do with her! What is the prophecy? What does it have to do with her? Once she discovers the truth…she will have to make some decisions that may cost her her life. But first, she has to die to fulfill it! This is a new unique twist on vampire’s that will leave you spellbound! It ends in a cliffhanger and I am already impatiently waiting for book 2~ You will not want to miss out on this author’s other books as well. I received this book as an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review

Rebirth

This has you hooked! It's a little slow to begin with, but the pace picks up, the story flows well and you can't wait to read what happens next. Maya is an excellent story teller. April and Sebastian are great characters and you find yourself really liking them. Hopefully they can sort our their differences. Marcus and Andrei are great side kicks! Looking forward to.reading where this story.goes next.

Promising concept

I was highly intrigued by the book synopsis, and the beginning was catching. The entire plot spans a day or two, though, unless I'm missing something?? Things progress quickly, so much so that it was difficult to emotionally attach or "feel" any of the characters and plot concepts lacked believability. I've decided not to continue this series.

April has survived for 10 years by living/hiding in a sewer. When she's caught and taken to the Italians, she learns she may be part of an ancient prophecy. Sebastian keeps a promise to her, so she feels obligated to help him. Looking forward to book 2.

This book is a refreshing take on the vampire myth. Vampires come out of the shadows and take over the world forcing humans to submit or go into hiding.

Risorgimento: Rebirth is the first book in a wonderful series.. The author brings her characters alive with her magical words... it must be magic. Because the story entrances you to want to read more after the first chapter.. you just can't put it down.
I loved the characters.. April her quiet and strong but hidden attitude.. Sebastian with his fierce demeanor to protect what's his.. Marcus with his strong fighting and strategic thinking and Andrei his kind hearted calming vibes. Sarah and Eddie the ones that are quiet with nowhere to go.
If you love Vampires, mages and magic; You will love reading Rebirth.. It will engage you from the first page.
