Short review - TSTL female and no chemistry.
Longer review including mini rant - Copper and his friends are modern day Robin Hoods. They’re stealing from the rich and corrupt and giving it back to the community.
Jules is a woman in the wrong place at the wrong time. Or right place right time I suppose depending on how you look at it.
Now it’s an Alexa book so you know how it goes but...
Mini rant coming up I won’t be long but I have to get this off my chest.
I like Alexa’s books you always know what you’re getting. Some are better than others depending on characters and story but generally they’re pretty much the same. I use them a lot between books. A palette cleanser if you will.
They’re short books usually light on story heavy on smut. And as such there’s not much to annoy me. There was the baby gravy and the house spraying etc that I’ve taken exception to. But as a rule I don’t have an issue with then.
My issue here was Jules she’s just TSTL. Simply put she’s an idiot. Not because of her situation with Warren. And not because she ran, found a small town and fell into the lap of the mafia. Told the mafia guy all her secrets therefore making her vulnerable.
No that could happen to anybody!
It was the really, really stupid thing she did.
Yes I’m picky and this is a short smut book. But I can’t do with TSTL women.

Nice steamy read!
Pretty good story if you want something a bit smutty but not too over the top that will only take 90 minutes or so. Jules is prone to anxiety attacks and is running from an abusive ex boyfriend that that is is wealthy and has the connections to find her. So she is trying to stay under the radar. She trusts a nice older man and tells him her story to get him to pay her under the table for an office job at a printing company.
The guy Cooper does, but turns out to be not so nice. He uses the information against her and has her bringing a bunch of dirty money to a safety deposit box for him. She is supposed to make the drop and return to the warehouse when she is robbed and taken captive by Cooper, who is a Robin Hood type that is taking the money back and returning it to the townspeople who were put out of jobs because of the old guy’s illegal activities.
It turns out she is safer with Cooper than she was before, and feelings grow quickly between the two. However, with stolen money and a crazy ex, safety isn’t going to last. So the story is pretty good and the epilogues are nice.

"His Hostage" is the story of Jules and Cooper.
I am sorry. I think I should just start lowering my expectations with these books.
I see the cover. I see Alexa Riley. I expect Untouched, Devotion or even The Virgin Duet- kind of sweet but crazy stories (not mentioning my favorite of their "taboo" works here). So much more..
But what I am repeatedly getting..is disappointment.
Another OTT saccharine story about a woman running from the stalker, doing odd jobs- and shockingly getting kidnapped and rescued by our hero, who is one of the good-bad guys. I wanted it to have some angst and some resistance, and honestly, the only scene I liked was when after the first night, the heroine waking up to see the hero playing with his..let's say flute.
One day, I'll get my old, dirty AR back. Till then, toodles.

This felt different than the classic AR. Not in a bad way, just not as steamy and OTT as I’ve come to love. I still enjoyed the story.

Super quick fun alil drama read!! If your not into insta just pass over. This one had more action in it.. i also got this as an ARC for a honest review..
Jules is abit naive shy and has no one in her life has been on the run from her ex boyfriend who is abusive, she thought she hit a good town and worked for a new nice guy.. turns out her spidey senses are wrong this oldish man is just as bad as her ex, he pushes Jules to do a job for him by saying maybe her ex would come by. As she does this job she is kidnapped by Cooper and his merry men who have beef with her boss and how evil he is to their town.
Cooper is a great book boyfriend even when he took jules hostage he never treated her wrong.. charming, playful and protective.. and there's something in his gut telling him to protect this girl and well he does even if she doesn't fully trust him yet.. i also loveeeee that he called her his buttercup 😭😭❤😭

Another cute and sexy, quick read!
OTT hero, Coop robs his rival's delivery truck loaded with two huge bags of money and takes the seemingly out-of- placed delivery woman hostage. What starts off as Jules aka Julian aka Buttercup wanting to flee from Coop's vehicles ends in Coop protecting the frightened woman who suffers from panic attacks.
Coop's character in this story, could be looked upon as a modern-day Robin Hood of Locksley who gave back to the community yet took nothing for himself! Buttercup was not only forced to make this delivery but this was her last job working for Coop's nemesis, Monte. Also, Jules had an abusive and rich ex who wanted her back which caused her not to be too trusting of men! One look at Coop changed that because he knew that Monte would think she stole his delivery and hurt her badly!
So again, if you like the OTT alpha male with caveman tendencies who's also bossy, possessive and has protector's instinct too, then you will love "His Hostage."

Jules ha huido de Chicago para que un loco no la encuentre y la encierre por su obsesión con ella. Por fin tiene un trabajo con un hombre mayor que parece amable... Hasta que descubre que no es quien dice ser. De repente Jules se encuentra haciendo un recado que no quiere, acabando secuestrada y enamorándose... Todo en el mismo día.
Me ha gustado aunque es verdad que a la pobre Jules siempre le toca lo mejor de lo mejor. Hija de verdad que mala suerte tienes en la vida. En cuanto a Cooper obvio que me gustó aunque le faltó un poco más del carácter típico que hacen Alexa Riley pero no paaaaaasa nada aún así amo estos libros jajaja.
Como siempre, para pasar el ratito.

I found this story a bit different from all the others that I have read.
But it delivered! Cooper and his brothers are working hard to get their town back to what it was before Monte and his crew slowly overtook it. Shutting down business's and destroying peoples lives.
Jules is on the run from an abusive ex who she doesn't even know how he became one in the first place. That is her boyfriend I meant. He was her boss and he won't let her go.
When she's caught in the middle of Monte and scheme's it's here she meets her future. Cooper.
When Jules past come back to haunt her in the form of Warren courtesy of Monte it's going to take Cooper and his band of brothers to rescue her.
Steam filled goodness that you've come to expect from our writers with an alpha claiming what's his in one glance.

A nice cute read. I liked the suspense portion, I found it pretty interesting. My favorite sexy time scene was probably the first one where she catches him jerking off in the bed. Otherwise, it was pretty vanilla. Just an all around sweet love story.

Jules aka Buttercup is on the run from her crazy boss that just can’t take no for an answer. The guy that gives her a job in the new town, is into some shady stuff and wants her to do a “job” for him. Yeah, that job gets her kidnapped and the delivery taken too. So, he’s looking for her and the crazy ex is too. Cooper and some of his friends are trying to take back their town from all the sketchy dealings going on and give the people back what is theirs...so they have a plan that backfired when a tiny woman is doing the drop.
This is a safe read. No ow drama, just the I-can’t-take-no-for-an-answer ex om. Coop and his friends are like modern day Robin Hood’s, he having the charm of Prince Charming, her words. He was so funny, sweet, sexy and such a dirty talker. There was a really funny in the morning scene that had me laughing and blushing at the same time. If I had to be kidnapped, I’d want to be kidnapped/pampered by Cooper....just sayin, the man is perfect. One virgin, shit ton of baby batter, epilogues and an hea.

I'm giving it 5 stars because I feel like our writers duet has gone out of their comfort zone and... Well... It was totally worth it ladies!
This novella had everything, action, love story, enough drama and absolutely beautiful epilogue. That 15 years later? I want that... I was accused yesterday that I read too much romance in my life and expect too much but hell... Can you blame me wanting a connection like our hero and heroine have?
Magic and great writing skill made this excellent story just perfect. Ladies- as always can't wait for more!

As with all Alexa Riley books this was a quick, sexy and safe read you cannot help but read in one sitting.
Jules is in town hiding from her ex, she found a job where the boss didn’t mind her lack of experience and understood her situation or so she thought. That is until she finds herself being forced to deliver too huge bags filled with what looks like millions of dollars. Deciding the easiest thing to do is do the drop and get out of town as soon as possible but finds herself being held hostage by a modern day Robin Hood and his merry men. But can it really be classed as held hostage when there is nowhere you would rather be than in your captives arms. Could she really have found someone to love her or will it all be snatched away from her grasp?
Cooper and his brothers are getting the money back that Monty has taken from their town and community, the plan is set and they are waiting for the drop only they weren’t expecting a woman, one look and he knows there is something special about his buttercup and he plans on keeping her. But when she is taken from him there is nothing that he won’t so to get her back. Can he save her or has his chance at happiness been taken from him.
Cooper was a great alpha male and Jules was not your usual heroine, so if you like over the top, steamy stories then this will definitely deliver and a look to their future is always a good thing. Great read.

But then I read this...
Man oh man this was pretty bad....
There was no chemistry, no actual alpha characteristics ( he was weak AF. I’m sorry but he was), or a heroine that I could like.
The heroine was probably the worst for me.
Will I read the next AR book, yes.
Will I continue to bitch about it on a review because it totally missed the mark for me? Probably not.
But then I read this...

I was a tid bit scared because the low rating, I could've known it wasn't necessary.
I love captive stories and even though this one was short it was very good! And also very exciting with lots of drama but also the well known steam!

Cooper (Robin Hood) shows up with his BFFs to intercept a bank drop-off and instead of the bad guy he was expecting, he finds a hot little Jules instead. He takes her with him, they get busy, she gets kidnapped, he rescues her, the end. It’s short and sweet. There’s no angst or drama. She’s never afraid of him or anything. There is a little masturbation session that was actually really hot. Overall, it’s ok.

Alexa Riley has written another sensational story! It's steamy heat and swoon-worthy feel good moments are classic AR. Jules and Cooper make this a great read- Jules being the on the run heroine from a bad man who is then inadvertently kidnapped by handsome alpha Cooper. I liked how Cooper fell into that instalove with Jules. The chemistry is intense, the love is sweet and steamy- and yes, its definitely an Alexa Riley story so its got the steam and heat going with the feels. The characters are outstanding and the story is awesome. I hope the secondary characters get their own stories.

Don't know what happened. Normally, I enjoy Alexa books but this time I wasn't into it. I was annoyed by Jules. She practically told everyone, who listened about her secret. Why the heck would you do this when you're on the run? That was bad enough, but then she gone and proved that she's not naive, but stupid.

Disappointing
I one click every AR book as soon as they drop. This one was disappointing. I didn't feel the chemistry, and while I understand the need for drama and the impending climax, it felt very contrived, and made Jules incredibly unlikable. Too stupid to live are the first words that come to my mind. I love this duo, but I won't ever be rereading this one. I can deal with a stupid heroine, I can somewhat deal with a lack of chemistry of the story is good, but I absolutely CANNOT deal with the two together in one short story. Sorry this was a huge fail to me

Amazing story!
What can I say since I read my first Alexa Riley story I can’t get enough and this is another great one of hers. I love the characters and I can feel for them during the scary parts because I am always rooting for a HEA. I would tell everyone they should read this story. 💕💕

The books that have been published this year Alexa Riley have been very sweet, I like this change but I also miss their dirty touches that are given to their stories.
