J.P. Leck is the architect of The Endless Elsewhere, a vast, multimedia narrative, which consists of novels, short stories, short films, radio plays, comic books and a podcast. Some installments occur in the distant past, while many do so in our own present, and still others are set in the far-off future, yet all of it belongs to one vast, interconnected story. This is a saga of the phantasmal and the fantastic, of the weird and the wondrous, of a great darkness and a greater light that overcomes it.
J.P. Leck seems to deal in unofficial trilogies. His three novels form what I call the Pendergast trilogy, a series that chronicles the life of his Dr. Pendergast character. Three of his short stories - THE MUSIC BOX, THE THIN PLACE, and THE DE-ANIMATORS - seem to collect the evolution of his Dr. Hardesty character (though peripherally). He also has THE NOVELTY, THE LANTERN, and THE RED MASS, followed by THE ROMAN, THE ACOLYTES, and THE DEMONIAC, which form two trilogies across different media about the discovery of abilities and gifts, using them for good, and the rise and fall of Carolyn Pelfrey.
THE BOONIES closes a loop on another trilogy about the mysterious Boonies cult, which also features prominently in short stories THE FINAL INGREDIENT and THE WITCH STICK. In THE BOONIES, Leck provides key background information both on the cult, their origins, and their leaders, including familiar names like Thaddeus Boone, Elliott Abshear, and Sylvester Jurgen. Fans of Leck's work will live the deep dive into this clandestine organization while newcomers will enjoy a hint into the lore of The Endless Elsewhere!
