Maida ran from the Greenfield Orphan Home with an infant strapped to her chest and a pack on her back with limited supplies to help her on her way. Winter was coming quickly and in Minnesota, winters could be severe. What was the big rush? She wrote a letter to the governor of the state exposing the abuse at the orphan home but more importantly, the administrator was feeding poison to the infants. When she confronted the administrator with a copy of the letter, stabbing it to the top of his desk, and telling him she exchanged the nursery milk with his own, she had to leave immediately. She walked south for a hundred miles over several months when she became desperate to find a place to stay for the winter. She was told to avoid the Rex Morgan farm unless she wanted to be run off his land. As she left the town, it began to snow. An early winter storm turned into a blizzard. She was lost, cold, and hungry when she found a barn that had a bunkroom. Little did she know it was the very farm she was warned about.
Jean this is a very delightful book. Maida is a very strong character with integrity. She takes steps to ensure safety for others as well as a baby. Thank you for writing this book and sharing it. Have tried emailing you but still says failed to deliver. Looking eagerly toward your next book. GOD bless bless you. Ethel
Wow what a story, this is about a young girl, an orphan from an orphanage who exposed a terrible person and then she escaped with an infant to find a place to call her own, she went through a lot and ...... you will have to read to find out the rest in the story......
Great story. The horrible way the girls home was ran broke my heart. How can someone kill Gods innocent babies. They could not even defend themselves. There are people in this cruel world like that. I’m glad Maida story turned out well. I could picture her walking over a hundred miles. What a blessing to Mr Morgan. He had a great ending as well.
I love her stories. They are always faith-filled and include redemption somewhere too. This was a really good one. From insecurity yo a safe haven and then home and family. I loved the lessons Maida gives Dorothy on what a true godly relationship is about. A great and uplifting read. Can't get enough of her stories.
What a living book. It did have some tough spots from ugly people but I'm the end they didn't win. The love that Maida and Rec shared was so pure and deep. That's how love should be.
Ms.Kuhnke writes wonderful books that are spiritual in nature which I like. Her story lines for each of her books is often the same but that does not bother me. In fact, I like it.
Maida put others first and God gace her the desires of her heart. God is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Maida had to run away in middle of winter to keek baby Esther safe from being poisoned by the head of a Orphaned home
This was a great book.... I was sooo engrossed in it. A wonderful Christian story, of trust, anger, forgiveness and love. It will speak to your heart, as it did mine.
This could have been a lot shorter. It was basically over at 70% through, the rest was just filler. The first 70% wasn't great, but the last 30% was downright painful to get through.
