It’s been said that the two worst days in a fighter pilot’s career are the day he steps to the jet knowing it’s his last flight and the day he steps to the jet not knowing it’s his last.
After years of serving his country in both the military and a covert paramilitary organization known as PROJECT ARCHANGEL, Cal “Spectre” Martin has retired to the quiet life with his wife and son. As Spectre settles in to his new life as a stay-at-home dad and aspiring fiction writer, a face from the past pays him a visit hoping to get Spectre’s help one last time.
With denuclearization and peace talks underway between the United States and North Korea, a high level general within the North Korean regime has other plans. Intelligence sources have confirmed that the general intends to launch an Electro Magnetic Pulse weapon and detonate it over the United States, setting in motion a third world war.
Covert operative Freddie “Kruger” Mack’s request is simple – select and train the pilots that will fly the mission deep into North Korea to stand down the looming threat. But as Spectre reluctantly agrees to help and the mission gets underway, he soon realizes that one way or another, he may be stepping to a jet for his last time.
With the stakes higher than they’ve ever been, Spectre and his team must overcome interference from foreign agents while planning and training for a suicide mission into North Korea.

Fini Flight by C W Lemoine is a rip snorting military flight/spy novel and is very apropos to our time. Spectre,, our main protagonist in this adventure must lead a dangerous and bold attack into the heart of North Korea! C W Lemoine is a former F16 and F18 pilot and the book is chock full of realism and exciting flight sequences. The suspense is strong in this one! Well done Mover! Can’t wait for the next one!
It has been awhile since I read Helios, actually more than two years So the characters were new with some da-ja-vu. The book was a little slow for me at the beginning but got better as I got deeper into it. I enjoyed the flying stuff, but found some of the deaths maybe a little unrealistic. Why move Cowboy to Shanghai and then kill him. Never made sense to me, would have been better for the team to have rescued him. 4.8
This is my fourth Spectre book. I found earlier ones kept my interest. This turned out to be a disappointment. It kept me up late nights hoping somewhere I would find redeeming value but alas, I found none. It began interesting enough to continue, but I found so many plot holes it was difficult to follow. I hate to finish on a sour note but this book has soured me on reading any Spectre series I have missed.
The biggest takeaway from this book is that flying fighter jets the skills do not transfer from plane to plane. Even though I enjoyed this book there are two things that brought the star rating down for me. First, way too much time training on the fighter jets for little payoff. Second this plot was so convoluted and Hollywood like it just lost me.
Interesting book. Another page turner. Author needs to be a bit better on the editing though. Some pages appeared to have duplicated passages of text at times and some inconsistent continuity.
I hope though that Fini Flight isn’t the end of the series as it’s left us with a cliff hanger. Or should I say “hangar”?
Wow! This is the first book I have read by this author and wow! Hard to put down, full of adventure and great story line. Looking forward to reading more!
