Devil's Riders #7

Touched By The Devil

Rate this book
It takes a lot to rile me up. From the moment I meet the young widow, she gets under my skin. I want to kiss her. But only to shut her up. My name is Maccabe Donahue, but everyone calls me Mac. Just out of the Navy and current Devil’s Rider, the inner circle of the Sons of Satan motorcycle club, I’m known for keeping a cool head. But all that changes when I take the job of managing the build of a new development outside of town. A development that is right next door to a tiny cottage, formerly in the middle of nowhere. That’s where Suzanna comes in. The woman is going to drive me insane. She’s the best-looking woman I’ve ever seen. Long legs and long, dark hair, with big green eyes and a curvaceous figure that defies gravity. She’s all fire and vinegar wrapped up in a package that makes my hands itch to touch her. When those sparks combust, it sets off a chain reaction neither of us saw coming.

This is a fantastic 4.5 star story that really captivates you from the first chapter and holds your attention right up until you read the end.
I love how this author can pull you in to her story and make you feel the emotions her characters are having.
I seriously feel like I lived through everything in this book.
I loved Mac and Suzanna's instant chemistry and I especially loved Mac having to work for what he wants.
He knows what he wants and he goes all in whilst respecting Suzanna's boundaries.
Theres a few twists and turns and a couple of surprises that really had me feeling a plethora of emotions.
I really enjoyed reading this book and I absolutely love the series.
You honestly need to buy/borrow this book asap.

OMG what can I say!!! I’ve read all the other devil books and always thought Dev and Lucky were my favourite, but I have to say Mac and Suzanna are my favourite. The instant chemistry between these two when they meet in a fiery confrontation. Suzanna a widow, not sure how to talk to a man like Mac , finally puts her insecurities aside and Mac finally gets to show her how love should feel. I highly recommend reading this book as well as the rest of the series!!

Mac is looking for his perfect girl. After watching all his brothers in the MC fall in love, he wants to have that. When his new job site constructing a new development in the sticks is invaded by a beautiful but crazy lady, it hits him hard. Suzanna is skittish to say the least but he wants her in a bad way. Can he convince her to take a chance on him?

I absolutely adored Touched by the Devil, I devoured it in one day and loved every word. I have been a huge fan of Joanna Blake's from the first book of hers I read. I have to say that Mac and Suzanna's book has taken the top spot as my favorite. She shows you from the get go the characters personalities and the chemistry between them is explosive. Suzanna's past certainly explains her shy, almost reclusive nature. Suzanna makes Mac work to win her but he also goes all in on it at the same time. He knows she is important pretty early on and won't rush her no matter how hard it is on him. Each of the books in the Devil's Riders really illustrates how much these people are first and foremost a family. That is what makes these guys even more appealing, more perfect Book Boyfriend material. We also get to catch up with previous couples which just adds another layer of awesome. Touched by the Devil was phenomenal and I cannot wait to see more from the talented Joanna Blake! 6 stars for Mac and Suzanna!

I loved this book, I was pulled into it right from the beginning and that is where I stayed until I had read every single word that was written, I had a hard time putting it down. All the while I was reading I was watching it play out in my head with my little mini movie, I love it when that happens.
Twists, turns and surprises await you within the pages of this book, some of the surprises are big and some are small, some you will see coming and might even hit you hard while others you will have no idea that they are about to happen. But each and everyone is as equally important in this story.
The emotions that the characters went through during the course of the book, I went through with them, I think I might of got slightly more annoyed at a couple of characters than anyone in the book did and I must admit if I could of smacked them at the time then I would of. But they all redeemed themselves.
Joanna Blake has written yet another fantastic story to go with all the others that she has written, to date I have not read a book by her that I have not enjoyed, each and every book of hers that I have read I highly recommend and this is another one.
If I could give this book more than 5 stars I would.

Ok just wow. I loved Mac and Suzanna so much. I didnt think I would love a Devils Rider as much as loved Dev but he has been booted to second place. Not only was their story just so perfect (of course there was the drama in it but still so perfect) the weaving of the characters from the previous books was the cherry on top and there was an appearance by the Untouchables (which is another great series by Ms Blake.) Seeing the club rally around to support them and playing pranks on Mac while trying to help get his girl was just the best. All the books in this series are really great and deserve to throughly enjoyed but if you only have time to read one this is definitely the one for me that needs read it was an MC story with such a sweet and funny twist in parts. If you want a story that will make you smile has a hot alpha biker and his sweet funny woman and a bunch of amazing family this is your book.

Wow! Wow! Wow! Joanna Blake really hit it out of the park with this one! Beautifully written, witty, romantic, steamy, and packed with all the feels, Blake’s Touched by the Devil covers all the bases! I absolutely love Blake’s MC series, both of them, and I’ve been waiting for some time for Mac’s story. It did not disappoint at all! Mac and Suzanna have beautiful chemistry. Readers will swoon for them! I would have liked a bit more suspense, but it does not take away from the novel at all! This is an absolute 10-star read! Ms. Blake, you are AMAZING!!!

I absolutely loved these characters.
Suzanna with her love for her plants and seeds was such a delightful female lead.
Mac was right there with all other protective males of his MC, his only family. I loved the way he simply couldn't do anything but open up his heart to Suzanna. He was the silent grumpy kind, but not with her. With Suzanna he became the man he was always meant to be.

I loved that some of the characters from previous books made an appearance here yet again. It's great to see how those relationships are thriving and evolving.

Touched By the Devil was a well written, fast paced, insta love story.

Mac & Suzanna

I loved this book!!! Joanna Blake’s Devil Rider’s Series just keeps getting better and better. Mac the tough quiet construction foreman that is part of the inner circle of a Motorcycle Club falls head over heels for Suzanna the sweet shy widow that runs a garden seed business out of her home, right next to the big construction project that Mac is in charge of.
Mac is so sweet and patient with Suzanna who has been just going through the motions of living. I love how we get to see a little bit of all the characters we have already read about in the series too.

Mac and Suzanna will have you all over the place with emotions, and laughing and brings you all the characters you know are back.
Mac stron, silent and looking for the perfect woman for him.
Suzanna a little weird and likes to keep to herself and when they meet fireworks got off and things heat. But someone is trying to hurt will Suzanna be able to trust Mac or will she fins it all too much. Amazing read from start to finish. It will pull you in and make you want more. Can't wait to read more from her.

Mac and Suzanna are opposites in most ways but they are perfect for each other! Mac has been living like a monk until he meets quirky, fiery and sexy Suzanna. Suzanna is a lonely widow who runs her seedling business from her grandma's old cottage that she now calls home. Mac is a godsend to Suzanna just when she needs someone to have her back and stand up for her. These two are great characters and I liked the chapters with POVs from other characters in this series! Another good book in this awesome series!

What happens with the Devil is actually an Angel..........but with a touch that sets you on fire!!!

This is the first book that I have read by this author, so I have not read the previous six books in this series. I did read the warning that they can be standalone reads or in order. I only mention this as there is quite a bit of character overlap from the other books. Even so far as there are previous characters who have entire chapters from their POV in this book. I can only assume that the previous books are written this way also. I found it to be quite interesting to read other characters POV's as they were observing the H and h, Mac and Susanna, developing relationship. These other characters also add to the story in fun and interesting ways interspersing true brotherly razing and trouble for Mac and sisterly/friendly support and advise for Susanna.

Mac is not really the "Devil" but a good guy who is hit by lightening when Susanna confronts him on his job site, where he is the foreman. She lives next door and lays into him complaining about all the noise and dirt/dust coming from the site. Susanna is a widow in her late twenties and appears to have no family other than some distant cousins. Mac is an orphan who was raised by his uncle and whose cousin is more like an older brother.

The relationship develops fairly quickly but at the same time not. She has been hiding out on her property since her husband died and not interacting with the world much. Instead she started an organic heirloom seed business. Mac spends his time working, tending bar for his brothers at their club house and obviously working out since he is so built. As with all good Alpha's Mac jumps into action when Susanna is threatened and decides that he is going to protect her and take care of the threat. So Susanna is moved into Mac's place and the threat is soundly beaten down. However, that is not the end of it and the threat takes a turn, which also means that Mac goes into overdrive Alpha mode trying to make all the decisions and tell Susanna what to do. She does some of it but also stands up to him a bit.

BTW - I loved Cslliope, the big ole female cat. She definitely jumped onto the Mac team right away. As having been the servant to such a cat I was crying from laughing so hard during the first "dirty couple" time when Calliope staked her territory and gave a great warning to Susanna.

I really enjoyed this book and will be picking up the previous books in The Devil's Riders series to see how all the other characters stories, as there are definitely some feisty and strong-willed women in this series, which I love to read.

I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.

Ooof, okay lesson learned with this one: Probably shouldn’t read a series out of order ever again…no matter how great the rating is.

This novel, written by Joanna Blake, was definitely an experience! I’m not sure how much of the book was actually story telling and how much was just graphic depictions of sex. It’s great if you’re into that sort of thing! I mean, a little spice always adds something to the story…but not when it’s every 10 pages!

The book started out strong. A handsome, ex-navy, strong and silent type man and a quirky, loud, earth-loving woman meet under peculiar circumstances. She lives out in the country, very secluded from the world; a widow trying to keep her seedling business alive. He is the foreman in charge of the development being built DIRECTLY next to her home. Obviously, it’s lust at first sight for both, but being a widow, she has a few issues she needs to get over, on her own, before she can give him her heart.

Mac and Suzannah fall quickly and rather ardently in love with each other within a few weeks. She brings out a side of him that his friends (or should I say biker/gang comrades) haven’t ever seen. It’s very touching to watch Mac blossom…but sadly, we don’t see much growth from Suzannah.

Also…I’m still not sure if Mac is in a biker gang or just a gang where they ride bikes or if bikes are even involved at all…

Anyway, Suzannah rejects Mac quickly after finding out about how the gang takes matters (aka the law) into their own hands at times. I mean…why was she even surprised about that? It’s a GANG. Anyway, after one night with the “girls” (aka significant others of the guys in the gang with Mac) she changes and her mind and all is forgiven and she’s totally fine with it….I mean…WHAT?! A little too convenient, in my opinion.

The biggest issue I had was the way the author split up the chapters. We read this story from at LEAST 6 different people’s perspectives…but I had no idea who they were! I understood that some of the men where members of the gang, but then there was also some extra plot about the mafia? Who was in the mafia? Also which woman belonged to which man? I kept forgetting every 20 pages or so. I was thankful the author kept bringing us back to Mac and Sussy’s perspectives because I would have been totally lost if she hadn’t…

All in all, I’d give it 3.5 stars. The story kept me intrigued for the most part, but the characters lacked dept. I might give the first book in this series a shot when I have some down time. It might actually bring everything together for me? We’ll see!

I really thought I was going to like this book more than I did. The writing style is great - its dialogue-heavy and flows easily, the characters are both likeable (though moreso at the beginning of the book), our hero is not a manwhore but actually a guy who wants to find a nice girl, and the sort of enemies-to-lovers feel at the beginning of the book was promising. Unfortunately, the insta-love and steamrolling nature of our hero drove this book off course for me - in addition to several chapters from the perspective of characters from previous books in the series.

The story follows Suzanna, a young widow who has been living in seclusion, growing her own gardening business and living a quiet life. When a construction project begins on the land adjacent to her property, she puts up a fight and tries to protect the quiet land she has become accustomed to. Suzanna meets Mac, the foreman of the construction project, who agrees to help her with a few things on her property to help reduce the noise and keep her happy. There is instant chemistry between the two, and Mac soon decides that Suzanna is going to become his woman, so he pursues her.

I really enjoyed the beginning of the book, and had high hopes for the story. But then their relationship became 90% about sex - Suzanna literally mentions that they get up, go to work, and then have sex all night. Mac also started making unilateral decisions for Suzanna - don’t want to give away spoilers here, but wow. And then the addition of all of the extraneous characters from previous books made the story a bit muddled. Not to mention the fact that Mac is in a motorcycle club and Suzanna’s not sure how she should feel about that.

So while I enjoyed the humor, sweetness of the relationship, and dialogue-based writing, there were definitely some elements of the book that I did not enjoy. Our fiesty heroine turned into a bit of a pushover, and our sweet hero turned pretty domineering. Perhaps if the chapters from the other characters had been turned into chapters on them going on an actual date or having a real conversation, I would’ve liked the book more. All in all, a so-so read for me.

We are back and we are getting Mac’s story (Donahue's cousin/brother - Trust the Devil).

I really loved seeing our previous characters and I loved that we get to see inside their heads again; my favorite part in this book had to be the crossover with The Untouchable series. You don't need to read the series to follow along but if you're like me and like to know all the connections you should definitely read The Untouchable series or at minimum Cain's book, Rough Stuff (but again you do NOT need to read the series to follow along).

The book was definitely (like always) filled with insta-lust quickly followed by insta-love; although Mac was a lot quicker to reveal his feelings than Suzanna who is a young widow and very old-fashioned. Although I like Mac and his quickly arising alpha tendencies, it does get on my nerves when the guys become overbearing and start making decisions without informing their women. Now don't get me wrong he was trying to protect Suzanna and that was very endearing, but I think my huge problem had to do with Suzanna being so accommodating when she really didn't feel comfortable or didn't want to do something.

Which is odd because Suzanna's character in the beginning was sassy and fierce than as soon as she starts to get some wanted attention from Mac she became meak and delicate. I know she is perceived to be young, but she would at least have to be in her mid-late twenties yet she acted like a sheltered teenager at times. She went from saying nothing could take her away from her grandmother's cottage and greenhouse that gave her peace (and an income) especially the development company to saying okay let's move to the lake.

I still enjoyed Mac and Suzanna's story, I was just expecting a little something more than just giving the man what he desires and the woman is just along for the ride because the s*x is great.

Also, did Mac ever go back to work after meeting Suzanna?

Mac and Suzanna

Mac: The club brothers say I'm quiet and cranky. Not so. I just don't talk when I have nothing important to say. They know I don't have women problems. Never have. Thing is, I don't want just any one-nighter. I want a sweet, shy one who will obey and love me. Not exactly the description we all got when the garden boots wearing, no make-up wearing, wound-up female stomped up to our group of construction workers and gave us a piece of her feisty mind. They stepped back (whether to get a better look at the gorgeous one or because she scared them). Right then right there I decided I wanted her in my bed-or hers-or against a wall or...

The brothers noticed my change and gave advice and started to worry about me. I wasn't used to working for attention from any woman. Taking it slow was new. When a threat changed everything.

Suzanna: I'd had it. My babies (plants for my seed business) needed fresh air and quiet atmosphere to thrive. I'd had it until these huge, all of them were big, construction guys polluted both. When I went to find out just how long they were keeping this up I was ticked off. When I get that way I have no filter on my mouth. Then I met him. Mac. The boss. The really hot boss. Hard to stay mad and keep from drooling. Instead of yelling back at me he said we see what could be done cause it wasn't changing anytime soon it was a long project.

So began our relationship. Neither of us planned it and weren't ready for it. He wasn't anything like I expected. His gorgeousness made me speechless, clumsy. When he started flirting I didn't know how to act. I was a widow and didn't have much experience.

This is a delight to read. All the couples get in on helping Mac get the girl. With these guys, there's as much pranking as serious help. The girls take Suzanna under their wings and give her advice from their experience.

One of my favorite MC books ever.

**Received an ARC from the author for my honest review**

This is Mac and Suzanna's book.

Mac is a contractor and was building next to Suzanna's property. Suzanna is a widow and lives on her own. She's quite annoyed with all the noise coming from the building site. She could not take it anymore and decided to go and speak to them about it and that is how they met.

Mac offered to help Suzanna on her property with fixing her windows, etc. and this is how they started to have feelings for one another. They were having quite a few awkward moments which had me in stitches.

But a book is not always sunshine and roses without a villain to cause havoc and said villain came knocking at her door. Luckily she's got Mac to come to her rescue. But will he be able to keep the bad guy/s away?

I have to stop here otherwise I will spoil it for other readers.
This was a light but funny MC romance.

Thanks to Joanna Blake for giving me this opportunity to read and enjoy this book.

I love Joanna's books, this one was no different.

The love story of Mac and Suzanna started out with a giant argument - Mac soon became very protective of her and everything about her. He and the club took care of the little problematic lawyer who wanted to buy her land and develop it - it had been her Grandma's and was left to Suzanna - the Grandma was the only family she wanted, the others she had nothing to do with. With the death of Suzanna's husband a few years prior, this place was the perfect sanctuary for her to build her dream of plants and seeds and doing good, growing wise. Her greenhouse was her pride and joy.

She was timid in the romance department, her husband wasn't very demonstrative in showing his affection or romancing her - so when Mac comes along, he doesn't hide his attraction and before to long they are kissing, but he promises her they can take it as slow as she needs.

of course their story grows, they give in to their mutual attraction, and quickly fall in love. So much more to this story. Loved it!

I am a huge fan of the Devil's Riders series and this latest book is, perhaps, my favorite of them all. Mac is certainly in my top three DRs, along with Whiskey and Jack. This series just makes me feel happy when I read it and I always leave with a smile on my face.

Mac and Suzanna are both loners, each with complicated pasts that leave them a bit wary of connecting with others, but once these two meet the chemistry is off the charts. It's hot, but it is also funny and sweet. I found myself cheering them on with each page I turned. As always, the other Devil's Riders show up throughout the book, along with their ladies, and it is fun to get to re-visit these old "friends."

So, are you looking for a good read that is funny, sweet, and spicy? Do you like hot, Alpha type guys who fall hard for their ladies? Do you just want to spend some happy time with a story that leaves you smiling? Well, here ya go. You can thank me, later. :D

I loved this tough guy/sweet girl love story!

It takes real writing talent to give us a biker romance that pulls no punches about the lifestyle yet still delivers a sweet, tender love story. Mac is as much a part of the Devil's Riders as the rest of them, but when he sees how his construction project is disrupting Suzanna's life - and livelihood -- he's determined to mitigate the problem as much as he can. But then he discovers a bigger problem that threatens more than just her peaceful lifestyle, requiring him to call upon all the power and resources at his disposal just to keep Suzanna safe.

The edge-of-your-seat action is beautifully interspersed with swoon-worthy romantic moments between Mac and Suzanna. Mac is everything we want in a book boyfriend, and Suzanna is just the balm for his troubled soul. They're absolutely perfect together, and the HEA is a dream come true. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Mac is half man half devil. Especially when it come to being a member of the Devil's Riders crew. He finds himself in a quandry when Suzanna decides to confront him and his fellow Riders/ work crew. The noise of his construction site is disturbing her plants and she wants him to stop. What Mac really wants to do is lay her down and show her his own ... tree like physique. Their love comes on like a weed bearing vine but Mac finds out that someone is out to hurt his beautiful flower and he's going to take care of his woman, whether she wants him to or not. Ms. Joanna has done it again with "Touched". Like all her other titles, which are just as great, she's given us a beautiful romance with just enough action to keep it moving. It makes you smile, wince, and get a little teary eyed all in one good work. You'll be truly touched after reading this one.

One of my favorite books in the Devil Riders Series:

I have read every book in the Devils Riders Series. While this book is written as a standalone book, I think the reader would enjoy the book more if they have read other books in the series. Touched by the Devil was a sweet, sexy enjoyable read. The hero and heroine were so real to me that it felt like I was there observing them while they were navigating through the intense situations that brought them closer together. The author writes this story using several points of view. The story is primarily told from the point of view of our hero and heroine, with other characters from the previous novels making appearances to help our couple on their way to their HEA. If you love tough alpha heros with hearts of gold, then this book is for you.
