Her inspiration to write her first book, was driven by the horrific adversity experienced by a close friend, to whom she has dedicated her book. However, her second book is a reflection to her personal fascination by unsolved mysteries and the way serial killer mind`s function. To her, as one truly compassionate and caring person, it`s literally a perplexing puzzle how one human being can turn into such a monster and not only hurt but kill a person.
Overcoming life’s challenges and struggles has shaped Owen’s character. Although she was raised on the East Coast, Owen has moved around the United States twenty-six times, finally settling in the place that stole her heart – the Midwest. She is raising her two beloved children in the small town of Astoria, South Dakota. In addition to writing, Owen is passionate about reading, cooking and traveling.

I give this book a rating of 5 stars and highly recommend reading it.There were many twists and turns. And just when I thought I had the book figured out, there was another twist. Great ending!

Hello My Fellow Book Dragons.
We have a set of Gems today, by the Authoress E.A. Owen (dony you love that name?). A delightfully freakish pair under the subtitle Tragic Mercy. The covers are fantastic and well represent the stories.
The first book, A Curse of Torment, introduces us to the Walker Family. A seemingly perfect family living the American Dream. For four years everything everything goes well, but then a dark cloud rolls in. And seems never to leave. Tragedy, torment and death follow no matter where Mary, the oldest daughter, goes.
How can one human being have so much bad luck? A curse, placed upon her family in the 1800’s has found a host and shadows her no matter where she goes, who she loves, how hard she tries…and the creep factor grows with every page.
The second book, Suffocating Secrets, continues where the first left off. Mary’s grandson now carries on. Trevor Williams is a sympathetic character. A good fathet, husband and grandson, he does his best to bring his family happiness despite the curse. Will Trevor succeed? To tell more would tell too much. You must find out for yourselves, and I heartily encourage you to do so.
I thoroughly enjoyed these books. They remind me of Bronte,Poe or James. Modern in setting, they have a definite Gothic feel. The characters are very likeable, they tug at you. I wanted so desperately for them to be happy. I caught myself talking to them more than once, which is rare for me unless thoroughly captivated. And I was.
Both books can be read stand alone, but I suggest you read A Curse of Torment first, simply because you will really feel the atmosphere. They can be purchased at EAOwenbooks.com or on Amazon. Life has not been easy for Trevor and his family. And though things finally seem to be improving for them, there is still much happening that almost seems as if the curse they had struggled to end is still affecting this family. But is it really the curse, or is there actually something more sinister going on?
This was the sequel to ”A Curse of Torment” and continues the story of Mary, her son Trevor, and his daughter Isabella. It seems as if they will finally find happiness in their lives now that the curse has been lifted. But with everything they have lived through, can happiness truly be found? What if it wasn’t only the curse they had to overcome?
The story told by the author drew me in and definitely held my interest. It could have used another round or two of with an editor, but it was still well enough written to hold my interest and make me want to find out what was truly happening. I don’t often read thrillers, but I did enjoy the tale woven by Ms. Owen. It kept me guessing and trying to figure out the ending before I finished it. And while I may have guessed at some of what was happening, I did not completely figure out everything happening within this book before the end.
Fair warning though, there are some adult scenes in this book, so it might not be appropriate for younger readers. But for those who do read this book, I believe it will keep them guessing about it until they reach the end.

Absolutely amazing!! I started reading and a few hours later I was closing the book as I finished it front to back because I could NOT put it down. I really wanted to because I needed to sleep for work, but I needed to know what happened next even more! I was cheering for the characters, and being sad for them too. And then... well you'll read it. Definitely worth your time!

The first & second book have a lot of twists & turns which I really enjoy. The books kept me on my toes and I’ll definitely be reading the 3rd book. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because I think there is a lot of room for more elaboration! Soooo many parts of the book could have been discussed more in depth.
