Cliff and his partner Maeva are hired to investigate the theft of some gold coins in California's Gold Country. What they find astounds them. When the case turns into a murder investigation, things take a dangerous turn, but not too dangerous to keep Cliff from geocaching.
I seldom review books but seeing the earlier one by gronk motivated me. I have read several in the series and am often struck by attitudes from the lead character, Cliff, that are unsurprising from an older, male, white, ex-LEO. He's kinda Reaganish. This book really pleased me in finding Atkinson can write believably in the voice of a young woman with enough millennial culture to let me buy in. I think gronk should come clean.... you stopped reading 'cause your lips got tired. As always, love the geocaching elements, especially when they move the story like here. Write on!
This book was presented from Maeva's perspective, Cliff Knowles's partner. I have read the others in the series and this has less geocaching than some. Some coins were discovered missing from a safe. But wait... was there more? Was it an inside job? Who knew how many coins were there. Cliff and Maeva were called on to investigate. The case takes some time to unravel but Cliff and Maeva use technology to fight technology and gather the needed clues. I enjoyed the book.
Interested reading about the gold coins from old years mining.
I really liked reading it in Maeva talking about everything. Cliff and Maeva are partners. They are investigating and solving both cases from two law enforcement agencies. I am hoping for more Cliff Knowles Mystery.
This book in the series is different. Cliff and maeva work for an older gentleman who is losing gold Double Eagle coins due to theft. Eventually they find a robot that's doing it but who is behind the robot.
I quit reading when I ran into the Left-wing nonsense. Apparently anyone who didn't vote for Hillary is racist, xenophobic, misogynist, homophobic, blah, blah, blah.
