Friday Night Love

Rate this book
Zenja Maxwell was widowed in her twenties; she never thought she’d be a divorcée, too. Yet that’s the destiny she resigns herself to after learning of her second husband’s infidelity and kicking him out of the house. She plans a cruise with her best friend, Caprice, to take her mind off Roman and celebrate moving on with her life.

But Caprice won’t let her give up that easily, especially when Roman seems committed to reconciling. Caprice and her husband invite Zenja and Roman to Friday Night Love, a weekly event for couples. Zenja hesitates, but the promise of food and fellowship prevails. She figures she can put up with Roman for one night.

At the events, the women are issued a series of Bible-based challenges designed to help them cultivate respect for their husband. Zenja struggles at first; she isn’t even sure she wants to rekindle the relationship. But Roman is persistent in his pursuit of her, even when he discovers that she dallied with cheating herself. Through tragedies, triumphs, and trusted friends, the couple learns never to underestimate the Author of marriage when husbands and wives surrender to Him.

Great read

Stories about restoration and forgiveness never grows old to me but this book is so much more! Roman and Zenja needed healing that only God could give them and I think the author did a great job of developing the characters, not rushing the story and delivering a powerful message about how God can bring healing to a marriage once the spouses allow a Him to be the final authority in their relationship! I love how the author masterfully wove God’s word in the book without it being preachy or over the top!

Communication

Zenja and Roman discovered the key to a near perfect relationship was God and communication. I appreciate the fact they stop talking at each other and started talking to each other. Secondary characters were on point. Added book two in series to my list.

A great second chance read

God hates divorce, but man can really mess stuff up. This is the type of fiction I love. A scripture based answer for regular people problems.nO found myself cheering for the hero and the heroine.

Review:

"Friday Night Love" by Tia McCollors was a beautiful Christian fiction. The author presented the readers with a wonderful well written story of the Maxwell's...Zenja and Roman.

WHAT I REALLY LOVED ABOUT "FRIDAY NIGHT LOVE"

This story will take you though a marriage that is falling apart due to a 'dalliance with infidelity on the part of her husband, Roman.' The only thing that Zenja wants is her husband gone from her life and precedes to help him pack up so he can leave, however that plan doesn't go as she plans, for he will return. This novel will take the reader through quite a story from going on a cruise and Zenja meeting a old friend. How will this friend tie into this picture? One thing that is for sure Zenja truly has a friend named Caprice. For she is truly a woman of God and will introduce her friend Zenja to the 'seven step plan she has developed in her ministry called "Friday Night Love."

What was this "Friday Night Love?" from a quote:

Over the course of seven weeks, the plan outlines a series

of assignments based on Ephesians 5:33, helping a wife

to cultivate respect for her husband. Rekindling their

relationship takes a lot of work, especially when the man

with whom Zenja nearly cheated on Roman refuses to

step out of the picture. Will their commitment to honor

God with their marriage pay off in the end?

I don't want to spoil it so you will have pick up "Friday Night Love" to see how this author will bring it all out to the reader. Be prepared from the novel to see how hearts be broken, mended, uplifted, forgiveness, trust, faith and in the end will there be a 'commitment to honor God.' So, will their marriage (Zenja and Roman Maxwell) be able to be saved?

The characters in this novel were simple off the chart...good, all well developed, defined, interesting, real, colorful, well portrayed and believable... only to have the reader not wanting to put this book down until the end.

WHAT I REALLY ENJOYED ABOUT THE READ....

This was not only the hero and heroine's story but the issue that seemed to be solved between the daughter in law and mother in law was quite intriguing story after it was all was cleared up. To understand more with that you will have to pick up: "Friday Night Love."

"Friday Night Love" was really a very good Christian story that will even help anyone who is going through this type of situation. I found it the novel a powerful read that will leave you laughing at some it, along with even shedding some tears...yes it was indeed one of those novels that will even stay with you long after you have finished the read. Would I recommend? Yes, it is definitely one of those good reads.

When I saw the back cover copy for Friday Night Love, I felt a sense of deja vu. I've read other Christian fiction involving infidelity, and for a brief moment I thought "Been there, done that." I should have known better. Tia McCollors has brought us a masterpiece that stands out in a crowd.

Like may women in her circumstance, Zenja isn't interested in reconciling with her husband. She knows that the Bible says adultery is an acceptable reason for divorce and she's heading there at top speed. Unfortunately for her plans, Roman is determined to win her back and her best friend Caprice is determined that Zenja will give him the opportunity. She invites Roman and Zenja to Friday Night Love, a weekly couples event. Zenja reluctantly agrees, if only to respect her friendship with Caprice.

This is where any thought of predictability vanished. The author took us into the hearts of both Roman and Zenja, to show us readers that it takes two to make a successful marriage and two to potentially ruin one. She showed us how dangerous it is for married folks to cultivate friendships with members of the opposite sex if those people don't care to respect the marriage, and how determined people can be when they've commited to having the person they want (even when said person is married). Roman and Zenja have to wade through a minefield of seductions directed from the woman Roman cheated with and a man determined to take advantage of Zenja's impending singleness, through unexpected tragedies and family difficulties in order to find themselves in God and to restore the marriage they nearly threw away.

The author even slipped in a warning about the dangers of distracted driving- talking on the cell phone behind the wheel is dangerous, and the author showed us just that in a particularly chilling scene.

I understand this book is the first in a trilogy, and I hope that's true. I'd love to see more of the characters we met here, even the ones determined to break up the Maxwell marriage (maybe they could date each other :-). This was a fine read, and I look forward to more of her work.

My best friend is the one who brings out the best in me, Lord help me how do I turnaround?

Friends hold us accountable, friends are there when you need them and when you don’t, and friends pour life into you so you can grow. Most importantly friends keep you from busting your husband in the head to da white meat when he acts up.
Cheating is a deal breaker according to Zenja. We make all sorts of statements, create list of do’s and don’ts and laundry list of what we can and cannot stand, but it’s all meaningless because it is not up to us.
When things go bad in a relationship its mantras we rely upon. Sometimes it feels like it’s all we have left or so we think. Zenja is no different, Roman screwed up, yup sure did he cheated on Zenja. Her mantra has been with her for so long she can’t go back on her word to herself, what would people think? No matter the pain she has to follow through no matter what her heart says when she looks into her husband’s eyes.
Zenja said something that hit home for me she said “my emotions were schizophrenic” I understand this statement one minute you have made peace with everything and the next you want blood. Will Zenja and Roman understand before its too late that it is the blood that can SAVE? Or will they allow the divers of the world to detour their destiny.
McCollors, knocked it out the park with this read. The characters and situations were on point. Dialogue alone cannot fill every story, think about the last person who went on and on about something, you had no clue what they were talking about.
McCollors gives the reader enough dialogue and dances with description enough so that you know exactly what is going on and you can feel the pulse of the story. Talk about moving a story forward – wow I loved this book.

We walk in just as Zenja is packing her husband's things. Nearly a month before, she had told him that he had 30 days to get out of their home after she discovered something that she considered a deal breaker. At day 28, Roman hadn't packed a single box and it seems like he had not planned to do so. Zenja decided that she wouldn't give him the chance to take his time. She packed it for him. At least she didn't go all Bernadine on him and put the stuff in his car and light it afire!

Anywho...Roman figures, he should probably let her cool off. I guess he had decided that the 30 days she'd given him would be enough time. Zenja had other plans. Homegirl had some serious divorce attorneys on speed dial.

So...the journey begins. If your spouse did your deal breaker...could you forgive? Are you willing to let bygones be bygones and give said spouse another chance? That's the question Zenja's friend Caprice asks her to consider.

Caprice is her home girl. Her ride or die chick and perhaps when they were college friends, Caprice would have been the one with her to "bust the windows out" of Roman's car. However, Caprice is a changed woman. God turned her around. She is married to the man God created just for her and is not willing to let her friend just throw her marriage away.

Now, of course, you have to have some spice in any dish to make it a great recipe. Well, just you wait. You're in for a ride with this one. Tia weaves together a tale that pulls you in from the start and doesn't let you go until the very last breath.

My favorite part of the back of the book blurb is what I'll leave you with..."Through tragedies, triumphs, and trusted friends, the couple learns to never underestimate what the Author of marriage can do when husbands and wives surrender to Him." Get ready for an all nighter.

Zenja Maxwell finds out that her husband has been unfaithful and everything in her world changes in Friday Night Love by Tia McCollors. Zenja needs to be away from her husband and decides to take a cruise to clear her head. On the cruise Zenja runs into an old high school friend who wants to take her mind off all of her troubles. Zenja has a lapse in judgment but her friend, Caprice is there to keep her on track.

After returning home, Zenja realizes that her husband, Roman is not going to give up his pursuit of rekindling their marriage. On the other hand, Roman’s mistress hasn’t given up on him and continues to throw herself in every aspect of Roman’s life. Zenja handles herself as a respectful lady but she can only take so much.

When Caprice asks Zenja and Roman to attend a Friday Night Love event that focuses on wives learning to respect their husband through biblical challenges, Zenja doesn’t believe she can make it. She struggles with the challenges but God has His hand in everything. Will Zenja allow God to work in her marriage?

I enjoyed reading Friday Night Love and found Zenja to be a strong woman going through a tough time. I loved that the author provides a support system for Zenja and Roman as they work on their marriage. The twist in the book shows different expressions of loss, which broke my heart. This book had minimal drama, well-developed characters, some suspense and anticipation that readers will love. I recommend Friday Night Love to others.

Zenja Maxwell is a woman scorned. On the verge of a divorce, Zenja is ready to enjoy life and not reflect on how much her husband, Roman has hurt her. Little does she know, Roman is a man on the mission to get his family back together again and will stop at nothing to make it happen. Knowing that he needs to cut through Zenja’s hurt, Roman gets the assistance of their good friends, Caprice and Duane. After receiving an invitation to a Friday Night Love session, Zenja and Roman are forced to take a hard look at their marriage and the part each person played in it. Through Bible based challenges, the couple starts getting to the root of their problems but is it enough for reconciliation? Will Zenja and Roman go their separate ways?

Friday Night Love is a great Christian story on the power of love, faith and forgiveness. It shows us that at long as we keep God at the head of our household, we can get through anything no matter how many obstacles are thrown our way. I must admit that forgiveness is never easy but we have to have faith and let God lead our steps. He will never steer us wrong even when our mind says differently.

This is my first read by the author but it will not be my last. Zenja and Roman are relatable and made for great character development as we re-examine our own relationships. I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline. I was happy it showed that no one is exempt from infidelity. “Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.”

This is my second book by this author and it didn't disappoint this Christian story shares the of the power of Faith, Love and Forgiveness the last many times is difficult for any couple, Zenja and Roman story is different in that although he moved out for a while never gave up trying to win her back. The love of her good friend Caprice and her husband kept Roman's name front and center. Caprice and her went on a cruise where Zenja met one of her old classmates who had changed into a fine looking man but was he for real? On her return home Roman who had returned was still there and he had talk with Caprice's husband. Invited to a evening "Friday Night Love group meeting where the discussion was on respect and awareness of the other we discussed with women in one group out of contact with the husband who also had awareness discussion. Where this could have been a tragedy through faith and reaching out the couple grew and continued to grow as they both decided that they both needed to surrender. Will focusing on the other half the glue that will cement this marriage?.

Do you like to read with emotion? Do you like meeting characters that you will never forget? Do you enjoy finding answers to what seem like unanswerable questions? Well, look no further. All you need to do is enter the world of Zenja Maxwell, her husband, Roman, and her best friend, Caprice. They supply it all. From the first word to the last, I was captured. I burned food with this book in my hand. I thought I was watching it, but no, I was not. I was caught up in the world of these characters and I could not let them go until the last word was spoken. McCollors is a master at tying up loose ends, letting you hear the voices, see the places, and touch the heart of her people. Wow! What a skillful worker at a craft that she is mastering.

This was one of the best Christian Fiction books that I've read in a long time; it was hard to put it down once I picked it up. I enjoyed the flow of the story, the pace, the plot, the characters--everything! I love how the author used a split point of view throughout the story without breaking up the flow. I also love the fact that the story had drama, romance, and excitement minus all of the unnecessary gunk. This story of love and forgiveness is great for Christian Fiction and Urban literature readers alike. I would read it again, and I would recommend it.

In Friday Night Love, I was given a chance to meet Zenja and Roman. Their marriage is in trouble, but God is in the mix. A wonderful, inspiring read, I was presented with several quotes that made me underline the text in the book and I NEVER write in my books! A book well-worth reading. I learned another value: the importance of married, saved couples having married, saved friends! Anointed writing.

I don't normally read contemporary Christian romance, but I am so glad I did! The characters in this story go against what is allowed, even expected, in our society and forgive, give up their rights and do what God would have them do, especially in marriage. And there's a best friend who tells you the honest, hard stuff that you don't want to hear! Priceless! The book wasn't risque, but intimate, so I highly recommend it only to married women! Note I read it in one day, it was that good!

This was a very inspirational novel. Roman hurt Zenja so badly but he did everything he could to win her back. He never gave up on them . He had that mustard seed faith and that's all he needed. I glad that Zenja finally forgave him and they worked everything out and they put their trust in God. Great job Tia!!!!!
