He’s a lone Hound at a crossroad. She’s a woman on the run. Both are trying to find their way home.
After the loss of his wife, Gryphon shifter Warryck Lazlo has spent the last twenty-four years alone. War has come to a turning point in his life and must decide whether to return to his family and their motorcycle club, The Hounds of Zeus, or find another path as a solitary Gryphon. When he sets out on a cross-country ride with his twin, Maveryck, War is determined to find his new purpose. While sitting at a bar, they overhear that a woman is missing, and War decides to help find her.
Kerrigan O’Shea’s life wasn’t exactly easy, but it was hers. Until it wasn’t. Escaping from an abusive boyfriend, Kerrigan’s car breaks down, and reluctantly, she accepts the offer of a kind man. But Kerrigan’s life goes from one kind of hell to another, and she wonders if she’ll ever find her way out.
With the help of the Hounds of Zeus and his daughter, Lucy, War finds the missing woman – his woman – as well as his purpose and his way back to his family and the MC. The only uncertainty in his future is whether Kerrigan wants the same thing.
Waging War is Book 1 in the exciting new Hounds of Zeus MC series, a spin-off from the Stone Society. The Hounds are Gryphon shifters who help rid the world of evil like The Ministry – the cult who single-handedly brought the world to its knees some thirty years ago. Set in a future post-apocalyptic world, The Hounds of Zeus bring you stories of the good guys who find love while taking down the bad guys.
Faith Gibson's love of books started early on. So much so that she decided to write her own stories. When a college professor told her she had a gift, she took him at his word and put pen to paper (because back then, there were no computers. Shh, we don't mention her age.)
Her love of all things paranormal mixed with crazy dreams led to her first series, The Stone Society, about Gargoyle shifters in search of their mates while protecting humanity from unhinged beasts known as The Unholy. The Hounds of Zeus MC series was born from one of their own being a mate of a Gargoyle. The Rebel Moon Shifters are the next generation, all the kids from the first two series.
Faith also abbles in MM worlds and contemporary suspense, but her first and forever love is fantasy.
When Faith isn’t hard at work on her next story, she can be found reading, cooking, playing in the dirt (planting stuff) or playing with her staffy pup, all while listening to hard rock music.
Warryck Lazlo been alone ever since he lost his wife but now he has come to a turning point in his life and he must decide whether he wants to return to his family and the Hounds of Zeus motorcycle club. He’s determined to find a new purpose and while on a cross-country ride with his twin Maveryck he overhears that a woman is missing, so he decides to help find her. After escaping from an abusive boyfriend, Kerrigan finds herself in another kind of hell, one she wonders if she’ll ever find a way out of.
This romance is an attention grabber right from the start with strong, bold characters that leap from the pages. The story starts out a steady pace giving readers enough of the hero and heroine’s back stories that make it easy for the readers to relate to them and then picks up the pace and proceeds at a fast clip full of suspense, romance and passion. The romance between War and Kerrigan sizzles with lots of chemistry but the situation they are in looms over them and uncertainty of the future holds the outcome of this relationship in suspense until the very end.
The plot is full of emotional turmoil and thrilling suspense as with some unexpected twists, especially during the conflict’s climax. If readers have read the books in The Stone Society, then they are already aware of this fascinating and wonderful world full of refreshingly different shifters, thrilling suspense and passionate romance and if they haven’t then they are in for quite a treat as this story introduces them to a whole new world to enjoy.
DNF - quit at 15% This was not put together well- no thought to the main character's actual dominant tendencies, just throwing together a mess of a story. The flow was stop & go & read more like a rough draft, and there was no hook to the plot & really left no reason to keep this reader interested. There is absolutely no world building, when things are thrown out around 10% that sound like this might be a dystopian type of world (not clearly stated but impressions given) and that there are gryphon shifters thrown into the mix with no discussion about gryphons (other than in the blurb), leaving me wondering what the heck. The main character, War/Warryck, was written all wrong. An alpha apex predator type character is not going to be dominated by a wife, or not want their child she gave birth to on her death bed. I didn't like him from the start, but because he gave up his daughter with no hesitations, just walked away from her & let family adopt her & raise her to adulthood, with no contact with her so that she does not know he exists until she's an adult, totally disgusting! There's no redeeming him in my mind. Then there's Kerrigan, who is always making bad decisions. She really didn't appeal to me, and would not have been a good enough character to override my hatred of War/Warryk to continue reading this book. I definitely won't read more from this series.
At my age (approaching 60), life is way too short & my time is too important to force myself to read a book I'm not enjoying, especially when there are so many other books out there waiting to be read.
Waging War is a new shifter romance from Faith Gibson. This time they are Gryphon’s (head, talons and wings of an eagle with a lion’s body) but don’t worry there are Gargoyles too! My favorite series of Faith Gibson has been her Gargoyle series but I now have a new favorite, The Hounds of Zeus MC). A Motorcycle club romance with a shifter element! What could be better than that?
This is Kerrigan & Warryck’s story. Kerrigan was running away from an abusive boyfriend only to sink herself into worse trouble with a cult. She was picked up on the road after her car was broken down by a cult member. Now she is being held by Brother Gideon. She finally escapes and fortunately Warryck is close because you should have read about the last girl that tried to escape and was attacked by the dogs.
I loved the chemistry between Warryck and Kerrigan. They were destined to find each other.
Waging War is a spinoff from Stone Society (gargoyles) and we get to read more about Lucy and Tamian. Lucy helps find Kerrigan with her computer genius skills.
I couldn’t be more thrilled with this new series. I can’t wait for the next book in this series or whatever book that Faith Gibson is writing. I know that it will find it’s way to my Kindle because I love all her books especially her shifter romances. You won’t have to read the Stone Society to know what is going on but I do highly suggest them. Only because they are really really GOOD! 5+ STARS for Waging War! I LOVED it!
Waging War (The Hounds of Zeus book1) by Faith Gibson is the story of Warryck Lazlo. He a Gryphon shifter which means he can shift into an eagle or a lion. His race is a creation of the Greek God Zeus who has made them to be the protectors of the human race. He is a college professor who has turned his back on his family and the family business after his wife was killed. The Hounds of Zeus is a motorcycle club ran by his family and fellow Gryphons. After deciding to make a life change he decides to reconnect with his twin brother and his daughter he gave up at birth. We first meet everyone in Tamian which is the last book in The Stone Society Series. This is a book about gargoyles, another creature designed to watch out for mankind. In this post apocalyptic world a society of religious fanatics have made it their mission to advance their agenda at any cost. The two story intersect in this book. If you haven't read The Stone Society series please do. I love it. This story didn't disappoint. While Warryck aka War is bonding with his twin Maverick they overhear a conversation about a missing women Kerrigan O'Shea. While escaping her abusive boyfriend Kerrigan finds herself in a cult on a farm where women are used and abused. She has been taken by that fanatical religious society. The story is told from Kerrigan's experience and also War's experience and the two stories finally intersect and merge. A story with many twist and turns, secrets were revealed and lives were definitely changed by the end of this book. This was a great story to a start of a series that has me salivating for more. The end of this story just set up for the start of everyone else's story. 5 stars. Great start.
Wow! A heart book. Plenty of action with twist. Loved that all areas are covered in the story. I fond out what happens with everyone. Love War !! I could've read about this group forever. Going to grab the next book now
Warryck Lazlo is a man with a broken heart and he's essentially isolated himself. It's taken him years to figure out that he's tired of the empty life he's been living and decides it's time for a change. He wants to reconnect with his family. He misses the closeness he had with family, especially his twin, Maverick. The thing is, his family is not your ordinary clan. His is a family of Bikers. The Hounds of Zeus are more than an MC, they are Gryphon shifters created by Zeus to watch over the human race. They have made it their mission over the last twenty or so years to rid the world of the religious cults that have plagued the world since the near apocalypse. War turned his back on that life along with his family, but now he is reconsidering that decision.
When War hooks up with his twin Mav, the two set off on a cross country motorcycle trip and overhear a conversation about a missing woman. This spurs the interest of both men and they decide to do a little behind the scenes recon to help find her. War enlists the help of his daughter and her new in-laws, the Stone Society, to track down the missing Kerrigan O'Shea.
From the first line of the prologue, I was drawn into the story. This was the perfect tease for what was to come! Moving through the story, I was intrigued by the new shifters and learning more about them and their kind. Like the Gargoyles from the Stone Society series, Faith Gibson has created an exciting shifter with the Gryphons that is both exciting and sexy. Add in the biker element and it's an absolutely winning combination. Not only did I fall in love with War, I am over the moon, infatuated with Mav. I'm certain the Gryphons are sure to make some ovaries combust!
The new series, while being a spin off of the Stone Society, is well defined by the new breed of shifters. Yes, there is a connection between the two series, but the Hounds of Zeus easily stands on it's own. Faith has done a fantastic job marrying the two, yet giving The Hounds of Zeus it's own independent identity. The new characters are well developed and the series is set up for more amazing future adventures. I'm already chomping at the bit for the next book, which I am hoping to well, Zeus, that it is Mav's book. I'm telling you that Gryphon is oh so freaking hott!
To sum it up, Waging War is an exciting story with layers of intrigue and adventure. I love the story and am ultra excited about the new series. I highly recommend it to everyone, whether you are a lover of shifters or not. Oh, and to answer the question if you need to read the Stone Society series first, I'd say no. Of course it will give you some insight into some of the peripheral characters, the main focus is the Gryphons and their story. That said, if you haven't read the Stone Society, you are totally missing out on some amazing stories.
This book had a great premise, but the plot is messy from beginning to end. The jumbled backstory to the relationship is over half the book so by the time they find each other I had mostly lost interest. The one intimate scene is ok; for a shifter story I expected more. Maybe there were two scenes? They’re just not memorable.
By messy I mean a couple things. Why spend chapters on War’s college career when it had so little to do with the story? The beginning spends chapters making you think the reunion with Lucy will be a big deal, then it’s glossed over and all of a sudden, boom, they work together with no hiccups on the rescue.
Every single plot twist comes about from something unlikely. For example, it’s never explained how the cult manages to track her — twice. They just magically show up then are easily taken down. They’re fanatic jerks but you never get the sense that they’re a threat to anyone other than a woman trying to escape into the forest.
Sure it’s fantasy but for that to work there needs to be an inner logic and the reader needs to be able to trust the author to make the story real and plausible within the world that it takes place in.
The story never gets a chance to build any intensity because it keeps jumping around.
I’ve read over 500 KU self-published books and adored many of them, so I know the authors rarely have access to experienced editors. I wish young writers were able to get more support.
So the background was long but so worth it. I really loved this book. Faith Gibson has the gift to bring you into her world and you just don’t want to go home.
Kerrigan is a bar tender and the best kind. When you need to get a beer or just hang out you want her to be behind the bar serving. She is just what the professor needs.
The hounds are on the move, the sex is hot, the girl is off the chain and the man is in need of all of the above.
I have yet to be disappointed by any of Faith Gibson’s books! Just like the Gargoyle series, the Hounds of Zeus MC books are just the right amount of sex and story!
Have to confess I had to go back and read this again. Being so invested in the Stone society I admit I didn't give this book a fair chance. But since learning that Maverick, the second book in the series, is due out soon, I figured I'd go back and remind myself of the Hounds world. I am so glad I did! Love that Ms. Gibson succeeded in building this new world while still merging it with the new characters. The Hounds were introduced in the gargoyle world with Tamian. In that story I felt that there was too much going on and I got a little confused trying to keep all the characters and stories straight. I love the authors writing style. Fairly straightforward and to the point without endless pages of narrative. I loved the heroine in this book. Kerrigan is strong independent and vulnerable all at once. She recognizes her mistakes and deals with them without morphing into a walking caricature of herself. Warryck is alpha, but not the most alpha if that makes sense. I love these two together. Definitely pick this up if you haven't. You won't be disappointed .
Warryck is a gryphon shifter and has been alone since his wife died twenty some years ago. Instead of continuing with the Hounds of Zeus, his family motorcycle club, he gives his baby girl up and becomes a professor. When he start to get bored, he quits and job and starts to travel on his motorcycle. Kerrigan works as a bartender and lives with her abusive boyfriend. When he beats her, she finally decides to leave but her car breaks down. She accepts a ride from a stranger and ends up in some sort of cult. Kidnapped and held against her will, Kerrigan finds a way to escape. Warryck is investigating her disappearance when he finally gets a lead. He swoops in and rescues her, before she’s mauled by a dog. Something about her draws him to her. Will she be able to handle his secrets?
Ok several places the same thing was repeated. Then The Who prologue is told again later in the book. I also got confused on several parts and had to reread it several times to figure it out. Now there were so good parts and if you can get around the other repeated stuff, it’s a good story. Shifters, post apocalyptic future, and sex.
What his students don't know is that hunky & hot Professor Lazlo is much more than he seems, besides being hot and hunky...LoL
War Lazlo is a Hound (half lion, half eagle) of Zeus along with all his family, only War left his family business to get married. His wife was killed years ago and that's how long he hasn't seen his family, his twin, but more important his daughter.. Yes she was pregnant with Lucy when she was attacked and lived long enough to give birth to their daughter, but he could not look at his child and not remember back then and he promised her mother he would not let her be raised around bikers. He has never had hope, or wanted to love again, until he saw a picture of missing Kerrigan. Now he wants to rejoin the Hounds not only to find Kerrigan, but to help all humans as Zeus intended.
But will the human female accept him and his family of bikers after they find her, she has lived so much pain in such a short time
I for one could not stand Kerrigan OShea....I wanted to like her, but I hate stupid female “supposedly “ heroines. I skipped over her chapters just to get to Wars’ chapters...not until chptr 20 something could I stand to read about her....OhMyGosh I know this was world building for a new series, but I won’t be reading them...Sorry because I would really love to see more of Mav and Rykers’ stories, just not if their females are going to be as stupid acting as Kerrigan....I will stick to her Gargoyle stories....there was only a couple whose females weren’t worth my time... Very few authors I like to read go beyond their stretch when starting a new series...only 2 others in all my many years of reading do I limit my choices...This is one of those times...
Faith Gibson's books keep getting better. I loved this first book in The Hounds of Zeus series and thoroughly recommend it. War cut himself off from his family and his daughter in order to fulfil a promise he made to his wife before she died. But over 20 years later he has come to a point in his life where he wants his family back. Kerrigan escapes one bad relationship only to find herself forced into a cult and a living nightmare. When war bears about the missing woman and sees her picture he is compelled to find her. With the help of the hounds, his family, he sets out to find her.
Warryck just started a road trip with his twin Mav when they hear of a missing woman. War sees her picture and is hooked. They have to help find her. Kerrigan is getting away from her abusive boyfriend, only her car breaks down and the next thing she knows, she's at The Sanctuary. She's been kidnapped by the Ministry, a cult. When she tries to escape, War's Gryphon forces him to be at the right place at the right time. They feel an attraction, but the head of The Sanctuary has an obsession , and he's not letting her go. There are a number of twisted lines that will work through on other books I'm sure, and i can't wait!
I fell in love with these characters and their heartbreaking stories.
I loved this story! The prologue confused me for a little while but once I got into it, l fell in love with the characters. In my opinion this author is amazing. Warryk has a background story that pulled him away from his family. That family is not only a motorcycle club but also a clan of gryphon shifters. As he begins thinking about rejoining his family, he goes on a ride with his twin. While riding the stop for a beer and hear about a missing woman. Kerrigan tries to escape from an abusive relationship only to be kidnapped by a cult.
I hated this book! I found myself flipping through pages. I was looking forward to starting this series after I had just finished Ms. Gibson's Stone Society__Gargoyle series. I found that there was more depth to the villains, the female characters and the male characters in the Gargoyle series. There was a good story that kept you interested. The Hounds of Zeus was a sleeper. You just didn't feel a connection with any of them. This story seemed rushed and not put together. The female character was a hot mess and not in an enjoyable way. Ugh! Don't understand the high review s. I'll pass😩😵
I enjoyed this book. I liked War from the beginning. Kerrigan was a strong capable character. It was a bit hard to follow at first with the set up of the characters, but once the author introduced the characters it flowed smoothly. I am excited about the future of this series. With multiple stories happening at the same time. I am a bit disappointed with the conclusion, but this has a lingering storyline that will follow throughout the stories to come. What is next? Well snuggle up and get ready for The Hounds of Zeus MC and take a remarkable ride with these encompassing characters!
Great start to a new series. Love this new spin-off, its unique and fresh and written in style that only Faith Gibson can bring. Warryck and Kerrigan will become your new favorite couple, chemistry and a story that keeps you guessing and I was hooked. Loved the main plot, side characters and ties that bring everything together. Don't want to say too much for spoilers but it's a adventure from start to finish. Can't wait for the next. I voluntarily reviewed an 'Advance Author’s Copy' of this book.
War is awesome!! Even though he had a hard past cause of his wife died and trying 2 do her wishes but there's always a limit 2 how far a person can go. He should have stopped after so long but didn't. She had a really rough x cause of her ex being a ass but he got what he deserved. It'll b awesome when the MC puts all the cults from the ministry away 4 good and save alot of people. It's hard not knowing excately what happened 2 ryker's wife. At least he finally found his daughter and soon he'll find his granddaughter 2. Can't wait 4 more asap!!
This story was epic. I love the Stone Society but the Hounds have my heart since Tamian's and Lucy story. I finally got around to read it and I could not put it down. War and Kerrigan story is amazing. After War lost his wife he kept away from everyone including his daughter. When he retired as an university professor he goes on a trip with his twin and finally found meaning to his life. Kerrigan running from an abusive boyfriend found her self in more trouble that she barging for. This story has drama, is intense and steamy with an happily ever after.
Another must read from this author!! The setting is post-apocalyptic just like her gargoyle series, it’s actually a spin-off of that series. Warryk (War) and Kerrigan have this palpable chemistry that flies off the pages. This book kept me on the edge of my seat guessing what would happen next and almost always I was wrong. I won’t spoil the book by giving away any of the plot twists so you just have to read it for yourself. I highly recommend this book!! I can’t wait for the next installment of this series!
When I read the first Stone Society book I didn’t know if I would like a book about gargoyles. Boy am I glad I kept going. Now we have the beginning of a series that meshes with the Stone Society. Waging War is great! The characters are funny, tough, kind, and let’s not forget HOT! The story line is very believable because, let’s face it, cults are real. If you haven’t read this book or the Stone Society, you are missing out!
I adore the post-apocalyptic world that author Faith Gibson created in her Stone Society series, which is amazing and I highly recommend you delve into it. That said, Faith has started a spin off series that includes shifters and a clan of hot bikers that drew me in immediately. Her characters have a lot of depth and her writing is fantastic and detailed. I can't wait for more of this new series, as well as more of the Stone Society!
Warryck, a retired psychology professor, feels a pull to look for Kerrigan, a bartender, who has been missing for a few months. As the story progresses details of her past come to light, getting out of the frying pan becomes troublesome, and they may end up finding more than each other if they fight hard enough. Faith Gibson’s Waging War is a twisted and emotion filled romance read set in her Stone Society world. I can’t wait to read about more brothers, both blood and MC.
This is my first read by this author and I really liked the book. I wish it would have been on first person instead since either had dedicated chapters per person, but I got over it because the story was good. I really enjoyed each character in this. A good read! Loved it
Great start to this series. Hopefully we'll see snippets of the Stone Society throughout this series as well. I was a bit concerned as I'm not a big MC fan, but having already read the Stone Society series, I took a chance, glad I did. The series is more about the Gryphons and the family not the MC. Love the story and the strong characters, good suspense, drama and a bit of spice mixed in.
I've never read a book about Gryphons before so this was new for me but not bad. There was alot packed into this story and at times I felt like I was coming into a series in the middle of it due to some of the situations referenced.
But, I enjoyed the writing and the story telling and would consider continuing the series.
Omg!!! You have got to read this first book of this new spin off series of Faith's, Stone Society series. I got so excited reading this book. Oh lawd the plot twist are strong with this one!!! Loved it. Highly recommend.
