I really really enjoyed this eye opening and insightful audible original about mental health
Kelly Holmes, is a British athlete who has struggled with depression and self-harm. In this series, she interviews different celebrities about their experiences with mental health.
All the celebs are asked to take Kelly to a 'happy place' and describe how they look after their mental health.
This audio book discusses so many different mental illnesses and issues that affect our mental health, including depression, OCD, alcohol/drug addiction, grief, eating disorders, anxiety and bipolar.
This Audio book made me cry on mutiple occasions. Particularly, Richard Pullman describing his battle with depression really resonated with me.
I would really recommend it, it's free and really insightful.
Obviously major trigger warnings for the issues I've mentioned above but also abortion and rape are discussed too
3.5 stars. Really enjoyed this chilled out podcasts covering multiple mental illnesses. I always love Celebs being open and showing everyone can suffer from mental illness. Such a good chill podcast.
It's a very interesting presentation of several mental conditions or disorders. You can learn first-hand from the people affected about their background, their coping mechanisms, as well as - from the experts in the field - the evidence-based ways to deal with them. I enjoyed both the stories presented by those affected and the comments of the experts. One common theme as the cure for most of the presented mental conditions seems to be the cognitive behavioral therapy.
Listened to this free Audible original and really enjoyed it as it made me think about how mental health issues can affect anyone at anytime and it does not discriminate against anyone. It also gave a scientific input at the end of each episode which really bedded the experiences of the people interviewed into context and really made you self analyse a bit. Really thought provoking.
This was an interesting listen, mostly for the perspectives of famous people on dealing with their mental health issues, including depression, psychosis, anxiety, etc..
