Shi Jin once read a book. It was supposed to be about satisfying the desire for vengeance.
The main character, also named Shi Jin, was the sixth son of his harem-novel-protagonist-like father. All was well—while his father was alive. But after his death, Shi Jin’s five elder half-brothers tormented him, eventually leading to his death. The protagonist was reborn, determined to take revenge, and… the novel was discontinued.
That day, Shi Jin almost spat blood and dropped the book into a shredder. The next day, he died in a car accident. Somehow, when he came to, he had transmigrated into a teenager, a youth also called Shi Jin.
There was only one problem. His father had just died. His older brothers were about to torment him…
Shi Jin: Let’s eliminate my brothers’ hatred, my goal is to keep my life!
Don't think that I'm kidding when I say that "the story is cohesive, the characters are lovable, and the romance is organic" is the highest goddamn praise I can give a Web novel.
When you start to read a Web novel it's sort of a gamble, cuz you don't really know what you're getting yourself into and You have to slog through a first chapter so filled with info dumps you'd think it has dysentery.
And I'm glad I took this gamble cuz I sure felt like a winner when I read this,it's one of the better written WN that doesn't have a lot of filler chapters,I can see the author took his time before writing this and made a cohesive plot in his mind before regurgitating it online
The MC is an absulote moron and the ML is a saint for putting up with him
The romantic relationship in this is one of the healthiest I've ever read in a novel. And the relationships between the brothers were one of the most complex ones I've come across in my reading journey. I loved everything about this.
I loved EVERYTHING about this novel. Every single thing. But, honestly, Lian Jun and Shi Jin were my favourite part. Their relationship was so pure and honest, the love and care they have for each other is so heartwarming I swear I was giggling and kicking my feet reading every moment they had together (which was quite a lot, to my delight). The last 30 chapters (more or less) I had to MTL tho, unfortunately. It was kinda really bad ngl, lol.
Romance aside, I loved how everything was handled. Mostly, Shi Jin’s VERY complicated relationship with his brothers. Every single brother was different, I really liked how Shi Jin had to confront each one of them individually (communication, yay!) and get rid of his prejudice that came from the memories of Shi Jin’s past life, but also from the memories of his childhood. It was really hard for him, but his brothers proved that they really had changed his views and came to love him sincerely. Truly, I cannot say enough how much I enjoyed and loved everything about this novel, there’s not a single thing that I didn’t like and that is actually pretty rare for me. I’m just so happy I decided to start this one. Hopefully, soon enough, I’ll be able to read the proper translation of the last chapters lol.
And hoooow could I forget about the Guas!!! The Guas!!! They were so funny! I loved their relationship with both Shi Jin and Lian Jun, they were very caring and loyal to them. Actually, I really liked the side characters here.
I loved how not everything was about the romance but Shi Jin always came back to Lian Jun in the end. How he was constantly trying to improve himself not only because he cared about Lian Jun but because he just wanted to give him the best version of himself. And that applied to Lian Jun as well. They were each other’s motivation force and I loved that for them. Their relationship was so so so sweet omg I don’t think I’ll ever shut up about them. I loved how they were both equally clingy and needy, and how they were not afraid to say how much they appreciated and loved each other.
The relationships between Shi Jin and his brothers, as well as his friendships with other and his romance with Lian Jun, it was all incredibly beautiful and well thought out. There wasn't a single moment where I felt bored or tired of reading, instead, I stayed up until five am reading it.
Hatred and forgiveness, it dives into both. There are a few despicable characters, but most are three-dimensional, and have bad and good points that they're learning to develop. You’ll get to see in depth what sort of person everyone is, and what they love, fear and desperately wish for.
It seems light hearted at first, but it dives into deeper emotions and really tugs at your heart strings. It's a happy ending of course, a superbly happy one.
I really lack the words to explain how incredible this is. Everything wrapped up neatly, and was very satisfying.
It’s worth all the praise given. Touches on real human emotions, empathy and the basic human need to be accepted by a person or people we value. The ending is sweet. Keep the tissues close by.
