What do you feel when you say I? Normally you would feel a center of awareness or a feeling of empowerment and selfishness. After being able to answer that question, another question comes which is "who is the one aware of yourself?" Most of us say, well me but fire cannot burn itself in the same way you can't look into your own eyes without using a mirror. This is a rabbit hole. but there's a way out of the illusion. Read my thoughts while I was dealing with this just as you will. Trust me, it's okay.
I received this book for free from the author in exchange for an honest review.
I give this book 4.5 stars which rounds up to 5.
This was such a refreshing poetry collection!
It’s written in the typical Instagram poetry kind of style, but still managed to stand on its own. It felt very different from what you usually see in that style. It just felt very new and fresh.
The collection references a lot of philosophy which gave it a unique point of view. I was a philosophy major in college so this greatly appealed to me. I definitely saw the influence of some philosophers. As a whole, the collection was very thought provoking. It challenges you to reexamine the life you’re living.
The book is divided up into 4 sections. My favorite was the section was the second one, Love Hate Desire. This section explored love in a way I’ve never seen before. It reminded me of a philosophy class I once took that was all about the philosophy of love.
I just have to mention that I loved the acknowledgments. The acknowledgments were basically a list of names but they included a wide range of people. There were some iconic philosophers like Friedrich Nietzsche and Lao Tzu, but also celebrities like Denzel Washington, Jim Carrey, and my personal favorite, Keanu Reeves.
Overall, this collection will make you think about the way you live your life and inspire you to make changes for the better. I really recommend it if you’re looking for a different poetry collection than what is typically available.
A very spiritual read. I found myself in deep thought, crying, & amazed at the author’s ability to put ambiguous thoughts into words. The perspective of the book was of high thinking and beautiful. Much love.
I LOVED IT! Paradox combines two of my favourite things, critical thinking and poetry.
The way it’s written is bold, brave and brilliant. It makes you question and re-examine everything you’ve ever known. It’ll force you to take your “mask” off and see reality as it is, or make you wonder if it’s all just fiction and we’re all playing our parts really well!
It truly does make you sit and THINK. It’s helped me gain some interesting perspective on topics like confusing wealth with money, lust with love, the afterlife, our relationship with ego, the dark side of technology, being mindful, dealing with pain, impact of memories, looking at death differently, the illusion of time, the truth about power, beliefs and god and if life is just another dream we haven’t yet woken up from.
So if you’re looking for deep, thought provoking poetry, then you’ll absolutely love Paradox!
I'm very proud to have read this book.. honestly it felt like an introspective take on myself personally and that resonated with me a great deal. If you can find the time to read it..you'll see what I mean.
Wow. This book has left me self reflecting. You’ve got to truly dive in as the author recommends with no “mask” on. After I finished the book I was left thinking about who I truly am. Am I the version society has made me or is this truly me? The author has a way of composing all his words into a beautifully written book. More often than not the jumbled thoughts in my brain don’t come together for me, the author does this for you in his book “Paradox”. He helps others understand feelings and thoughts that we sometimes don’t understand ourselves. It is a must read for all my poetic readers battling with anxiety and or depression, thank you Incognito for not making me feel alone in this world! : )
One thing I look for in books is Education. Can this book teach me something? With reading this book, you learn who you truly are. I wont spoil it, but you need to have an open mind when reading. Skim a couple pages repeatedly and just sit and meditate on the words you are reading. This book requires you to think. Enjoy the thoughts that run through your brain...It opens a new world.
4.5 stars: Stimulating book on the nature of yourSelf. For someone who reads a lot of spiritual books, there were plenty of new angles that I found refreshing. Definitely seemed to be heavily influenced by Alan Watts (always a good thing in my opinion :) ). Looking forward to more books by this Incognito author!
Interesting way to mix poetry and philosophy together. If you have an open mind, Paradox will give you something to think about. The cover is what really intrigued me. 9/10
Interesting and contemplative. Geared towards those for self_reflection I'd say. It doesn't pull you in and hold you and there was a typo or I correct word, but there's definite flow within it.
A far reaching read for anyone trying to find or lose themselves in the thoughts of another. Paradox is it's namesake, so embrace the beautiful ambiguities of an anonymous mind.
