Max was the only character that I feel was “normal”. Just wanted to scream at Carolee for her lack of fighting for a relationship with her daughter. And as for Kip, how can someone be so shallow and selfish. And I can’t even start with Faith. I think the story could have been so much more if the characters were more developed and not so unrealistic. Can you have so many weak people in your life.
Started and right away lost interest. Weak characters and predictable scenario. Read other reviews and see the book aside. Unsure if I’ll read another by this author.
labeled romantic suspense but the suspense was lacking. Popular pianist Carolee Burns is divorced and estranged from 13 year old daughter. She gives up her career to be near daughter. She is determined to re-work the visitation arrangement agreed upon during divorce settlement. Husband is jealous of Carolee’s friend Max and is worried about his financial situation. Extremely boring. Very predictable. Author is NYT best seller.
Both the characters were likeable, Carolee's "trauma" seemed a bit forced and over the top. Max was compasionate and easy to relate to. An Ok read, 2.5 stars.
