In 1944, five young women take newly available jobs at the Badger Ordnance Works: one of the largest munitions factories in the United States. They forge an unlikely friendship and experience joy and heartbreak amidst the sexism of the era and the challenge of entering the workforce in the darkest days of World War II.
This is a good play that with the right direction and cast good be fabulous to see on stage. It loses something in the reading because you don’t get any real sense of the movement of the characters.
I really only read this play to find a monologue for an audition. In that regard, I was successful in reading this script. There are many different monologues throughout the play and they will be helpful to use. However, when it comes to the story, I wasn't as impressed. I thought the characters were interesting and ok, but it all felt very surface-level. Additionally, I didn't agree with all of the actions that the playwright supported. There were some things in the script that I would not be comfortable producing. However, the writing was fairly good and I would be interested to read more from this playwright.
this was our show for one act & we won second place at district!! i love this cast so much. nothing truly beats the feeling of being a theater kid, crying from pure joy when your best friends win awards and hugging everyone and sobbing afterwards because of how high you feel.
forever mad we had to cut out the lesbians (cuz the community here isn’t all queer acceptance yet + it’s texas) rip eleanor murray you would’ve loved wattpad 💔💔
Reading a play is never as good as watching a play.
An interesting story about women working in a WWII ammunition factory in Wisconsin. The highs and lows of working in a man's world along with a look at their personal tragedies and problems.
