Blood, violence, betrayl, sex, deceit, love, murder, and friendship, I Promise You by Shantel Tessier is such a fun dark read! "Fun" might seem like a strange word to use to describe a book like this, but when I think of the Dare series, fun is the first word that comes to mind. It's twisted, captivating, and filled with surprising twists and turns that will keep you guessing the whole way through. If that's not fun, I don't know what is!

Before I go any further, you need to know that this series isn't incredibly realistic. You will have to suspend your disbelief time and time again, but if you can do that and you love dark romance, I think you'll have a great time!

hu-6

*This book cannot be read as a standalone. Everything that happens in it is a spoiler for the first book, so if you haven't read I Dare You, stop reading here.*

This book hits the ground running, picking right up where it's predecessor left off. Cole is covered in blood and out for revenge. Austin is in critical condition, and Celeste is dead. The betrayl of his friend was too much for Cole, and he handles it the only way he knows how. Deke is there with him every step of the way, but the same can't be said for all of the remaining sharks. A divide in the group causes some serious tension and will have you questioning everything you thought you knew. Lies are exposed, friendships are torn apart, relationships are destroyed, and lives are lost before the story comes to end.

I Promise You is a dark romance filled with action, suspense, mystery, and drama! It's written entirely in male point of view which I loved, because it's something I don't see often in romance. Having not only Cole's but Deke and Bennet's perspectives brought so much more to the story. We find out not everything is as it seems between the boys. They have plenty of secrets, and I enjoyed finding out before the characters and anticipating what would happen if the truth was revealed.

Deke has the biggest role in this story aside from Cole. Being in his head gave more insight into the dynamics of the group, and it also shined a spotlight on his relationship with Becky. We may not have gotten Becky's POV in the book, but she plays a pretty big part in the story despite that. I'm so intrigued by her, her motivations, and her relationship with the boys. I can't wait for Deke's book, and I hope Becky is in it. I need answers!

hi-8

As for Austin and Cole, I'm so glad that Cole finally got his head out of his ass. Austin is finally being treated in the way she deserves, and that makes my heart happy. Austin's unconditional love and acceptance of Cole is heartwarming and completely insane (on account of him being a murderer and all), but it showcases just how perfect she is for him. I absolutely love them together. 😍

I want to address one more thing before I go. There are a lot of flashbacks in this book. Some we have never seen before and some are things we already read in the first book. Were all of the flashbacks necessary? No Did some of them help me remember shit I forgot? Yes! All this is to say that, I'm not as mad at them as I might have been if I remembered all the details coming into the story. Other readers may be more aggravated with the recap, so just a heads up.

Overall, I had an awesome time reading this one! I'm looking forward to uncovering more about what the hell is going on with these crazy motherfuckers lol, and I'm excited for the story to branch out more to other characters. If you enjoy intriguing, drama filled, suspenseful, dark reads, this series might be for you, and if you've read book 1, you should definitely give this one a try!

description Way back in April of last year when I read I DARE YOU I was blown away by how awesome it was. So when I heard there would be a book two I knew I had to get my hands on a copy. Unfortunately, It just didn't WOW me like book one did. It felt choppy, and the plot jumped all over the place. I also thought it got a bit repetitive at times with scenes that had already taken place in book one. I guess after finishing this one, part of me feels a little like this book wasn't 100% necessary. I mean, book one ended on a several years later epilogue.  *shrug*

description
However, it wasn't all bad. I am dying to know what Bennet is up to and more importantly "WHO" he was sleeping with. I have a couple theories (that I will keep to myself). I was also intrigued by Deke and Becky's twisted and fucked up storyline. Enough to read book three? Well, I have to be honest, at this point I am not sure. I guess it depends IF Deke is paired with Becky. Neither of them were particularly likable. Well Deke was until near the end when his anger towards Becky seemed a tad hypocritical all things considered. Their relationship was also a hot mess of secrets, lies, and (what appears to be) cheating, etc. So I figure we will be in for a shit ton of other people drama in that book. Time will tell I guess!

description

SIDE NOTE: I wasn't too keen on the slut shaming of Becky in this book. Especially considering all the male characters got around plenty. I found it distasteful that they called her a slut for what she wore and the fact she slept around. In fact, I had to go back and read over my review for SLAUGHTER (no connection to this series) because I was sure I was turned off by the slut shaming in that book. And...YUP, there was slut shaming in that book as well. Sigh...not cool author, not cool.

Coming off of I Dare You not too long ago, I really wanted to see how the rest of this story was going to play out. We knew that there were going to be a lot of consequences, blood shed, retribution, and a love reunion that was set in the making. We knew those things and we were prepared for them but the one thing that was constantly on a loop in my mind was this:

If you haven’t read book one yet, do NOT go further into this review! Hours after seeing the love of his life at death’s door, Cole is out for blood. Literally. On a mission of his own with his best friend not too far away, Cole and Deke takes care of the situation the only way they know how: with no apologies. But you know how the saying goes, the past always have a way of coming back to haunt you along with buried secrets.

I was not a fan of the main character in the previous book but I will admit that I did warm up to him a little bit in this one. A lot of things happened and I felt like he needed more redemption in my eyes but he did keep me entertained. There was also a lot of things that were already mentioned in the previous book and this felt more like a recap if I’m being honest which I didn’t need. I think that If most of it wasn’t mentioned and more plot twists came up, I would’ve really loved it more.
With that being said, I’m anxious to see what’s going to happen next with Deke!! Let the bloodshed continue.

I Promise You Teaser 1

So I enjoyed this, was it perfect? No did I enjoy it as much as "I dare you"? well no but this still had lots here to recommend reading it.
I suppose this is more like a companion read to the main event, one that manages to fill in most of the blanks that were left slightly open-ended previously.
I say most as there are still some unanswered conundrums that I really want answers to the main one being who is Bennet hooking up with? I do have some ideas but will be keeping that to myself for the moment.
What I liked about this the most was that we got to see a more humanised version of Cole as here he finally pays his penance and definitely eats some humble pie in regards to his previous treatment of Austin.
It was lovely to see Austin finally getting treated with the respect she deserved all along.
There were also plot twists here that surprised me and I also liked the conclusion in regards to Cole and Austin.
what I was less fond of here was the usual double standard where the boys were allowed to sow their oats without blame and the girls were vilified for exactly the same behaviour.
I really liked Becky and Deke's dynamic before and this just soured things for me slightly in regards to them.
So that's it really, not sure if I will be going ahead with Deke's story yet as I haven't quite decided.
Mainly because I am just a bit downhearted with the destroyed dynamic here.
Just a heads up this is not a standalone, you do need to read book one first.
I voluntary reviewed a copy of I Promise You (Dare Series, #2).

After I finished I Dare You I was excited to get more of these Sharks. There was still a lot left unsaid about all of them and I needed to know their secrets. But then I heard that I Promise You was a story that was still going to mainly focus on Cole and Austin and that's where my nervousness about it started. I already got their ending, or so I thought, so I just wasn't super excited to go into this book and get more of them. But in the end I can say that I was pretty happy with it.

**If you haven't read I Dare You this is where you stop.**

So this book starts off where the previous one ended right before the epilogue. Strike that, actually it starts off with a past scene from Deke, but then the first present scene is after Austin was shot. And this is also where my nitpicking came in because if I Dare You had ended on a cliffhanger at that scene, I would have been all over this book and loving it. But we got an epilogue that explained some things that had happened after she was revived and taken to the hospital. So then it had this entire book feeling, well pointless in a way. I already knew a lot of what was going to happen so it wasn't a big suspense to get to those points.

There were also times that the book went back to a scene that we already saw or heard about in the previous book and would show it from a different POV. Which I'm just not a big fan of in general since scenes like that just don't intrigue me all that much. Yes, it's form a different perspective, but I still know what's going to happen. Honestly the biggest thing that intrigued me about this book was what was going on with Becky and Deke. I was already really curious about their story and now I'm even more so.

As for Cole and Austin, it was sort of their story, but for the most part there wasn't anymore romance between them. It was mostly Cole doing his own thing to help Austin and then some secrets revealed about other people. So it's a little hard to say if there was a main character or couple of the book at all.

The book wasn't a total loss for me since there were some other things that had me captivated and I was definitely on the edge of my seat at times wondering where this author was going with the story. Overall, I do think it was a good story and that it sets up Deke's book pretty well so I definitely recommend it.

OMGGGGGG LIKE WTF??????
Becky is not as innocent as I thought she was...........
Getting inside Cole's, Deke's and Bennett's heads kept me on my toes and gave a much more broader viewpoint of the GWS
Can't wait for the next book!!!!!!!

O.M.G!!! I need to take a breath!

I Promise You is the follow-up to I Dare You (The Dare Series) and picks up when Austin was shot, as well as giving us some flashback insights into their pasts.

Now I wanted to give I Dare You 10 stars and said that, in my opinion it was Shantel’s best book to-date, but believe me, it only gets better!
This book has so many twists and turns it makes your head spin and even better - you don’t see them coming, it’s fantastic!

This book told in the POV of Cole, Deke & Bennett, but primarily Cole - how he’s finally admitted to himself he’s fallen in love with Austin and decides to try and change to be the man he believes Austin deserves, but just as she’s now fighting for her life in a hospital bed! - will she survive everything and give Cole the chance to put things right?

The story unfolds with the repercussions of the shooting that put Austin in hospital - what was Kellan playing at and what revenge did they get on him?

As for Deke, you get more of a glimpse of who he is - we already know his loyalty to Cole knows no bounds, but where I thought Cole was the only one to really fear, this tells us differently - I cannot wait for Deke’s book (If You Dare) - I can already feel it’s going to be a major eye-opener!

But Deke isn’t the only one with secrets, Bennett is hiding a few of his own!

Secrets and confessions that can and will destroy what they think they know...

I Promise You, you will NOT be disappointed in taking another swim with the GWS’s!!!

Don’t hate me, but...this was a huge anticlimax for me. I just felt like it was too much of going over everything that happened in I DARE YOU, and I started to skip pages. I have to be clear and say that I absolutely love Cole and Austin but I just wasn’t invested in this story as much as I thought I would be. That being said, I am still totally onboard for reading Dekes book.

This book was so good!!!
Book 1 is necessary to understand book 2.
In this books we get all the in betweens we missed out on at the end of book 1 plus new drama. And secrets just spilling out from about every character.
Cole is back with Austin, Deke, Bennett and Becky.
A lot of questions are answers but at end you’ll have new unanswered questions. Safe to say it gave me the biggest book hangover I need book 3 stat!
Must read for this series.

After leaving us on a cliffhanger with book one, the author picks up where she left off, just when I think I have all these questions figured out, the author throws me in head first into plot twists that I did not see coming.

in I Promise You, I finally got some answers on some much-needed questions... And if you thought book one had you all bent out of shape and your head spinning? Well, this book is about to drop you on your ass.

We got to see both Cole and Deke's POV on this, and it was good to finally see some more insight. In book one, I struggled to connect with Cole, but as the book progressed the more I softening towards the character, and that only got deepened in I Promise You. He grew as a character and finally showed a side of him that showed he wasn't the monster I first thought he was. He did care, he was able to love, and stand up for what he believed in, what he wanted, and the fact that he would stop at nothing to keep Austin safe? Well, that sealed it for me. I became completely smitten with him.

Deke... He's perfect. Utterly perfect. This book showed he was loyal to a fault and that he would protect the people that mean the most to him at whatever cost. He continued to prove this over and over.

I'm not diving in deep with this review. All I will say is that you NEED to read I Dare You before starting this. This series was my first by this author but will not be my last. She is certainly different and she put a pretty unique spin on this. The book has it all... Sex, lies, secrets, betrayal, heartache, deceit and it help so much suspense and unknown, which was almost enough to send me absolutely crazy! But it was the best kind of crazy!

This book is awesome. It clears up questions from I Dare You, but it makes you ask new questions. Still gritty, still raw, still real. This book is fast paced and you cannot read it unless you read I Dare You first. You will be lost. This is told in alternating views, we have Cole, Deke and Bennett, you get to see what they are doing, and going through and it is an eye opener.
I Dare You was perfection, and this one is no less. The characters here are further developed, the plot thickens, and it is more embroiled and developed. The story sucks you in, and next thing you know 3 hours have passed and your done. This was supposed to be a novella, but Shantel doesn't know how to write one of those.LOL This is a cross between a novella and a full length book, and so so worth every word. Do yourself a favor and snatch this one up.

★5 STARS★

Shantel Tessier will rock your world again. She never disappoints, and especially not now with I Promise You. You thought that with book 1 I Dare You that you found out everything?!... You will not know what hit you. Prepare to be blown away! Cole is back ladies, and he isn't alone...The GWS...are back!

I Promise You is the second book in the Dare Series, and you MUST read I Dare You first. The story is told from Cole's, Deke's and Bennett's POV and continues from were book 1 ends. I don't want to ruin everyone surprises by telling you too much, because everything is like puzzle pieces, only the puzzle will not be resolved with this book.

When I found out after I read I Dare You that will be a series, I was crazy happy because I didn't want Austin's and Cole's story to end. I wanted more...I had too many questions unanswered, way too many secrets still undiscovered, and some characters with their stories completely untold like Deke's and Bennett story, who you will actually find quite a complete mystery.

If so far you new Cole as a ruthless and raw badass son of a be@ch, don't worry, he still is all that, but so much more. He is capable of love, regret and most of all he is scared. Scared to lose the most important thing in his life, Austin.

We get a new and different side of Deke. His relationship with Becky a complete mystery and some events that will blow your mind. Bennett is another mystery because I don't know on whose side he is.

GWS

The playlist of this book is insane. I'm listening to it non-stop. This book is an amazing dark love story that begins in book 1. You might say it's the same, but trust me it's not, it's different and definitely something else...You must read this series and I can't wait to read the next book, Deke's story If You Dare.

The secrets you uncover will leave you shocked! Their story isn’t over. Everyone is hiding something.

Book two picks up with a flash back. The author will take us back to the beginning. You’ll get Cole, Deke and Bennett’s point of view. You will find out so many answers to questions that plagued you and secrets you didn’t even know existed.

Twists and turns galore. This story will keep you spinning. Even with so many secrets uncovered, their is more story to be told. No one does anything without a motive and some we have yet to uncover. However, the author left us open for more.

I was totally sucked into their world. It’s complex and dark. This recaps quite a bit of book one, but with Cole’s perspective and insight from Deke and Bennett. Their disclosures will leave you wanting more.

A thrilling suspense that will keep you at the edge until the last page. It’s definitely not over.

Oh. My. Gawd! This book was absolutely fantastic! It's not real often that I finish a book in one day, but I Promise You was like kindle crack and I just could not put it down. This one starts off with a bang, picking up right where I Dare You left off. And yes, you will need to read that one first. Otherwise you will be lost, wondering what the hell is going on in this crazy shark world.

I Promise You was pure dark romance goodness! It's dark, edgy, intense and suspenseful. And just when you think you have things figured out, the author throws out a curve ball. The twists and turns are plentiful, starting from the very beginning. It's told from three point of views; Cole, Deke and Bennett. You get a glimpse as to what goes on in their heads and the secrets that they have locked away. I absolutely loved the whole GWS crew and watching as the story further unfolded. Secrets are revealed. Lies and truths are uncovered. Relationships and friendships are tested. Who will be left standing at the end?

I PROMISE YOU, you do not want to miss out on this one! These delicious GWS's are just as dark and deadly as before. You will be taken for one hell of an insane ride. I could not turn the pages fast enough as I devoured each and every word. If you don't mind being put through the ringer, then be sure and snatch this one up. It is fan-f*cking-tastic! ♥

The Sharks are back and they are ready to kill or be killed.
Please read I Dare You first to fully understand this second book.
It’s told in three different POV of Cole, Deke and Bennet. I enjoyed the different perspectives and the flashbacks that allow us more insight.
It begins exactly where Book One left us. This book answers some questions however it also leaves us with more mystery and secrets. It is a fast paced, dark, thrilling revenge story that tests many relationships.
I Promise You will love this series.

Secrets on top of secrets are still being kept.

This book begins at the ending of I Dare You, so make sure you read that book first!

I loved this book. The book is split into three POVs. We get to see Cole, Bennett, and Deke tell their side of the story.

This book reveals more information about the sharks and then presents new secrets. It basically just sucks you into this world more and has you needing Bennett’s and Deke’s books immediately.

I’m nervous about their books. Don’t get me wrong. They are going to be AMAZING!! But...oh man... I know they are going to be intense, suspenseful, and more secrets will threaten to destroy their world before anything gets better!

The boys are back and better then before!

* ARC received in exchange for a honest review*

When I read I dare you when it came out, I fell in love with all the characters , the story and the games.

This time round it’s the same, I fell in love with them over again. Your feelings and emotions will be all over the place throughout the book.

This book is told by three povs, Cole, Bennett and Deke.

If you haven’t read I dare you then I suggest you read that one first as you will be completely confused reading this one as it goes through the events of what happened in book one. People may think that it’s repetitive but I like that the author did this as it refreshes you of what has happened.

In I dare you, we saw the dark side to Cole but in this book we see a more humanised, lighter version to him. The way he is with Austin and how she is getting the respect she deserves.

I dare you was filled with lots of consequences, blood shed, retribution, and a love reunion just waiting to happen. I promise you was full of dramas, lies and bombshells that will have you double checking what you just read.

I know that I did that towards the end of the book. I’m dying to know who a certain shark is sleeping with?
More on The huge bombshell between deke and Becky that I didn’t see coming.

Shantel has delivered yet another book i have loved, I am left wondering what on earth she is going to do next. I can’t wait for deke book coming up next.

Get ready for more twists and turns!

Shantel Tessier never disappoints when it comes to dark romance. This book literally had me on the edge of my seat. It's dark, gritty, angst, steamy, and will leave you wanting more.

I've read I dare you a couple times and I can't get enough of these characters. Cole and Deke will be embedded into your soul. They are alluring, dark, and oh so bad

I don't want to spoil a thing, so I will say that you need to read I dare you First, because this book picks up off and the End of I dare You.

Words can't describe how grateful I am to have read this book early. I can't wait for the paperback so I can own this perfect Gem.

ARC REVIEW : IPY by @shantel_tessier, arc generously provided by @givemebookspr.

Dear Shantal,
I want to hug you so tight and squeeze the bejezuz out of you. No really, how do you manage doing that? Writing like that? I Promise You is a follow up to its prequel I Dare You featuring Austen and Cole's twisted love story. I Promise You deals with many flashbacks, interval periods and reflects upon the lives of Cole's other friends including Deke-Becky, Bennett, Killian and Shane. Majorly focused on Cole and Deke, it pens out the aftermath of Austen's accident and Cole's realization of his unending true love for her. Millions of secrets are revealed, they all have great rebellious streaks in them. I must say, Cole steals the show with Deke right after him. Loyalty, Love and Boundaries are tested with this book. Not an ounce of unnecessary writing has been done. Everything is pretty perfect, sticking to it's original scene.

There's lot of angst in this book, better than previous one. When I Dare You dealt with the dynamics of Cole and Austen's thin love-hatred relationship, this book slashes in full forced. It wrecked me with the thrills. There's violence, games of wits and what not?! Now before Shantel officially murders me for spoilers, I'll end my thoughts with a 5 PROMISING STARS right away❤️ Mark your planners and calendars people. You'll need it. Or Deke might take care of you in his wicked ways!!!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I Promise You is book 2 in the bully romance series Dare by Shantel Tessier. Book one does need to be read first.

This is basically the missing story between the last chapter and epilogue of I Dare You. It is told from Cole and Deke's POV, tying up all of the unanswered questions from book one and paving the way for book three. Secrets are revealed, emotions are at an all time high and all of the violence and drama ensues.

I Promise You was a quick read and I loved diving back into the world of the GWS. As with most high school bully romance, it is not at all realistic for the age group being portrayed but it is an enjoyable series nonetheless. I would highly recommend these books if bully romance is your thing.

Jess~

This is not standalone, you need to have read book one or this will make little sense.

This was also exactly what was needed after I Dare You. I knew things didn't feel settled and this was almost like a behind the scenes look at what else was going on. This one is told from multiple POVs and there was a whole lot of, "I did not see that coming!"

There was more drama, more deceit, more twistedness, and some dirty boys. I can't really talk too much about this book because it would spoil it. I finished this book with very strong feelings about these sharks and not all of those feelings were good. You should read this book if you enjoyed book one. I think I might have liked it a little more actually. And I am now so looking forward to Deke and hoping that certain someones get what is coming to them.

I Promise You was another delicious read in the GWS series by Shantel Tessier. It answered many questions that weren't answered in I Dare You and provided insight into scenes we weren't necessarily privy to in the first book. I loved being in Deke and Cole's head and could not get enough of these boys!

Anyone who knows me knows that I loved I Dare You so when I saw that the author was making a book two I could not jump on this fast enough. I loved learning the secrets of the accident and being in Cole and Deke's heads but would consider this a 1.5 novel or a companion novel as it really wasn't a book on it's own. It did however, definitely hype up Deke and Becky's drama and the anticipation of their book. Now I cant wait for more! ~Ratula, 4 Stars

I really enjoyed this book. It was the perfect follow up to I Dare You. We were graced with the POVs of Cole, Deke, and Bennett. This book offers more insight into the secrets behind the scenes. We also get Cole's POV and that was golden. Who woulda thought he'd turn out to be a good man for Austin. More secrets were revealed and I'm chomping at the bit to start the next book. This is an amazing series. Be careful they're sharks in the water. I promise you won't be sorry you read this book!

The 'fill in the blanks' story, just what I wanted (and needed!)

After the drama at the end of I Dare You I wanted more details....and I got them along with more secrets. More lies. And that ending.......gasp!

I Promise You is book 2 in the dare series.

PLEASE PLEASE read book 1 first I dare you. As you really do need too.

What a book it is woah! This book I feel like I been put through the ringer my feelings. This book is told from 3 different POV Cole, Bennett, Deke. we get answers that were left from book 1 I don't want to go into details as you really don't want to spoil things for anyone. Just know it is MUST read with great characters you will either love or hate them or love to hate them I really like these guys I can't wait for more. Very well written and sucks you in from the start.

I really think this is Shantels best series to date so far
