I knew going in that this was a book about cheating and that didn't really bother me. I'd read other reviews stating that the heroine completely cut her cheating fiance, Brett, off and never considered taking him back. I thought that might be a good indication that I'd like this book. Give me a strong heroine any day and I'll read it.

The problem with the book is that the new hero, Derek, who also happened to be the cheating hero's best friend is also a total whore. He has sex with band groupies the entire time he's known the heroine. And yes, I get it... they were not together and she was engaged to his best friend. I can excuse some behaviors, but I hate man whores... especially if the heroine has to witness his conquests.

The reason I stopped reading at 31% is because the heroine has been broken up with her fiance, Brett, for 4 months now and Derek is well aware that he's always been in love with our heroine. Of course it's too soon for him to make a move, but does he have to be a whore and hook up with random women who resemble the heroine? That is gross. I wouldn't want a hero that had so little respect for me that any old girl who resembled me would do. And get this... he calls her name out in the throws of passion. The poor ONS had to tell him her name wasn't Kristen on her way out the door.

Do authors think it's attractive to give us disgusting hero's?

So the bottom line is. I didn't give a big fat crap about the cheater finance Brett or the hero the author chooses for her heroine, Derek. I don't think either one deserves her and she should have found someone else.

One a side note... I am blown away that any woman would read this book and comment that Kristin was too hard on Brett. Some have written that she should have heard him out, after all she had 5 years invested in the relationship and she owed him an explanation because his actions were out of character. Well, let me tell you. She didn't owe him shit. I don't subscribe to the forgive and forget mentality.

Love Triangle

This book was a quick read. I liked the pacing of the story but not sure about 2 of the 3 main characters. Brett and Derek have been lifelong friends and band mates when Brett rescues Kristen from a handsy drunk while playing in his uncles club. Fast forward five years, the band is headlining their own tours and Brett and Kristen are engaged, when Kristen travels to surprise Brett, it is she that receives the surprise and its not good.
Spoilers below:

What bothered me even though what Brett did was pretty f*cked up, his devastation never lets up, Kristen won't give him the time of day, this is her boyfriend of 5 years who has never done anything like this before, she's not concerned over how it happened, he was obviously drugged. Derek has been hiding first his feeling for Kristen and then his relationship with her from Brett while his "friend" is spiraling out of control just didn't sit well me either. But that being said, I want to see everyone else get their HEA,especially Brett so I will keep reading.

Tighten your emotional seatbelt because this will be a very bump, twisting, turning ride! The storyline was well written with plenty of rock star "play", however when one of them is in a relationship, some things should not happen. Hold on to your heart because you will feel Kristen's pain, and will want to deliver a bit of pain to Brett because of it. Get ready not only for the rock star play, but the intrigue that comes when a stalker comes into play. Things get really interesting and the story takes off.

The characters are well written and very well developed, although there was a lot of them to get to know, I think focusing on the ones vital to this story would have been better, giving us a more indepth view of them, their personalities, their pasts, etc. But that is just me.

Good job for first time author Samantha Conley. I recommend this book to anyone how loves rocker reads.

Girl meets boy, boy falls madly in love with girl, boy makes a terrible mistake, girl leaves boy, girl falls madly in love with best friend. OOPS

Yes this is basically the scenario for this rocking story. When Kristen met Brett, she thought she had found her HEA. After a chance encounter their relationship blossoms. Life goes on and both are excelling in their professions. Derek is Brett's band mate and best friend and through the years has seen the couple achieve the kind of love he wish one day to have, he can't let his guard down and allow the feelings he has always had for Kristen to be on display, he loves both her and his friend and is happy for them. However one wrong move on Brett's part shatters every dream and sense of trust between him and Kristen, she is completely devastated for breaking her heart. At first Derek is there for both of them offering support, but slowly he starts spending more time with Kristen, one thing leads to another and soon both can't help the strong connection. Derek and Kristen not only have to fight to find their happy place without hurting people in the process, someone has taken an unhealthy interest for Kristen and things spiral fast.

I felt this was a good story. Although predictable at times, the Author provided a few twist to keep the story in suspense. There were plenty of steamy moments and also some tender ones. In overall a pleasant and entertaining read. Would like to read more from the other members of the band, particularly to see what happens to Brett, i did feel he paid a heavy price for his mistake.

Derek and Kristen

Spoilers**
3.5/5 stars.
I was immediately hooked on this story. It took me in a completely different direction than I was expecting. Brett was great until he wasn’t. He didn’t deserve her, he didn’t do anything to try to win her back. He didn’t fight for her at all.
Derek on the other hand was the one meant for her.
This would definitely be a five star read for some readers, but for me personally it lacked depth of emotion and characters compared to other books I’ve read. There was angst and drama but I didn’t really feel it. I think the gaps in the story when they spent months apart just didn’t help. I get as a reader we need to fill in the gaps e.g they just went about their lives, but I don’t think it helped the character development and us feeling connected to them.
We heard more from Brett at the end, but he only apologised for cheating on her. I wanted to him to realise he hadn’t actually fought for her. I know it was necessary for the door to be open for Derek, but I think that’s what made the book seem a little bit shallow. Parts of the story felt glossed over.
The stalker plot was good and fit in well. I will read the other books in the series as they enjoyable as an easy read.

Wow! I was totally surprised by Down in Flames. I’m not a huge fan of love triangles, so I wasn’t sure how I would feel about this one. I LOVED IT!!!! It really wasn’t a love triangle at all! The characters, their friendships, relationships, and the suspense really made this one a page turner for me.

Kristen is a young, strong, and independent young woman. Oh…she happens to be engaged to the lead singer, Brett, of the rapidly rising rock band, the Silver Tongued Devils. She is on top of the world until it all comes crashing down with Brett’s betrayal. One night would change everything.
What I loved about Kris is her tenacity and her decisiveness. Once she decided she was done with Brett, she was done. Yes, she hurt, and her heart was crushed, but she was determined to not let it completely crush her. She went on living her life, and it just got better when Derek became more than her friend. Derek has been friends with Brett his whole life, and in the five years Kris was with Brett, he became friends with Kris. He harbored feelings for her, but he never crossed that line. He never even made his feelings known until almost a year had passed since she had called it quits with Brett. The sex was HOT between these two. What I found the most endearing was their deep devotion and friendship they shared. I knew their relationship was one that would last. I also respected them for the fact that despite their feelings for one another, they wanted the best for Brett who had definitely gone off the rails.

I thought there would be a lot of angst considering what the book was about, but there really wasn’t that much. It was about two people falling in love. The drama came in the form of the great suspense of who Kris’s stalker was. Even after the identity is revealed, there are still questions to be answered.

Samantha Conley is a new writer to me, and I am so glad I have discovered her and this series. She does a fantastic job of developing her secondary characters for her future books. I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next.

I received an advance copy of this book for an honest review. Samantha is a new writer to me. I was not sure what exactly I was getting into when I started this book. But i can honestly say that I did enjoy reading this book. It is very well written from the beginning to the end. There is emotion, twists, suspense, happy moments and sad moments. Everything that made this book amazing.
Kristen Daniels had it all. She was working towards a great career doing something she loved, an amazing boyfriend of five years that had just asked her to marry him and great friends. She couldn't have asked for anything more. Until one night when she decided to surprise her fiance in his hotel while he is out on the road with his band. After that night her life would never be the same let alone her heart. The unthinkable happens that night that changes life for her. Fast forward a year later and she is trying to move on with her life and her heart being broken. She realizes that there is more to just a friendship with her ex boyfriends band mate and best friend. They start up a relationship knowing that for now it needs to be on the down low. But once he goes on the road things for Kristen turn from bad to ugly. She has a stalker that just wont leave her alone for anything.
This is where the story really gets interesting. But I refuse to give anymore away.
This is an absolute must read. There is amazing suspense and twists that you never would have ever seen coming. My heart broke for Kristen many times during this book. I honestly didnt know if she was ever going to get a happy ending.
I was a little upset at the end not knowing what happens to one of her friends. That point of the story leaves you hanging. I am hoping there is going to be more to this couple and the couples involved in this story. Amazing character chemistry with all the characters from the main ones to the best friends of Kristen and the band members. I cant wait to read more by this author she has gained a fan.

Kristen Daniels is hard working, successful woman, who won the heart of a super sexy rock star. But in the blink of an eye, he shattered her heart, leaving her to doubt everything. Brett Ingles' band Silver Tongued Devils is quickly rising to the top, and has an awesome woman that he loves with all his heart, until he makes a huge mistake that breaks both of them. Derek Calloway is his loyal best friend, who also plays in the band. However, he's hiding a big secret, that he's in love with Kristen as well, but doesn't act on it for a long time. There, that should intrigue people about this great debut book! Boy, Down in Flames really had my dramatic girly girl emotions all in an uproar, as I didn't know who I loved more, so I'm just going to call this one, Sophie's Choice. Usually I always have the girl's back, and I did have Kristen's back, but I could physically feel both her, and Brett's pain, which had me also rooting for him. Then, there's the amazing Derek, so once again I'll reiterate, it's Sophie's Choice. This leads to me say that Samantha Conley has a super talented writing style to have me all tied up in knots, and confused for who I prefer, which NEVER HAPPENS BTW, so I'm giving her a high five for that alone. Now that I've gone on about all the angsty goodness, let's move on to other things, as this book is full of awesome goodness. Her twists and turns, (and there were a few big ones), had me dropping loud f-bombs throughout the whole story, and I didn't quit dropping them like they're hot for several hours afterwards. In regards to sexy scene goodness, well let's just say commando is best, otherwise you may find your drawers combusting into fiery flames. And I cannot forget mentioning the highly colorful secondaries, whose stories cannot come out quickly enough. Now that I'm done with my new fan girl gushing about an amazingly original new series, I'll just end with HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDING Down In Flames to ALL!

I really enjoyed this one. I wasn't sure what to expect.

Kristen and Brett are on top of the world life is going great for the newly engaged couple, until one night it no longer is. I loved that Kristen stuck to her guns and didn't change her personal beliefs because I absolutely hate when the female lead becomes a doormat and I totally agreed with the choices she made. I enjoyed the way the rest of the "love" story played out and there was no miscommunication - especially when the video was introduced. The other part of the story was unexpected ... and I liked it.

The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because I feel like there should have been a bit of an answer as to what happened "that" night (other than the obvious) since it was so out of character for Brett and I am assuming since this is going to be a series that we will hear more from the unresolved "person of interest".

Wow an amazing debut novel!!

This book was an amazing read and debut book for this author. I am going to follow this author.
This book had everything I want from a Rock Star book. It had hot AF sex scenes, betrayal, drinking, drugs, stalkers and some crazy as heck groupies. Lived the set of characters that were introduced in this book.
Not going to give everything away so read the book. Just know this author definitely has a bright future in writing. She kept this avid reader entertained and I read this book in one setting couldn't wait to bump the kindle to the next page. Cannot wait for the next installment in this amazing series.

This was a fun story with entertaining characters to follow This story also hit on some realistic points regarding dating and domestic abuse. It also has a Happily Ever After (HEA) ending.

Sidenote: Please watch for any trigger warnings the author may have.

I liked the book enough to finish the story (If I don't really like a story; I stop reading it) but it had some issues I found irritating. I know that people say you should only say nice things. I want to read more, but not if the issued persist.

There were mini stories with the story that were hard for me to believe or understand why they were included. Both Jason and Issac just happen to get involved with her friends but say nothing???? really?? Horndog rockers all of sudden want only one person??? Even the girls say nothing!!!

I like how Kris and Brett first met---rocker becomes protector. But there is no build up in the relationship, just the explosive end. And why didn't anyone question Brett's actions because they weren't his normal. He didn't remember anything but no one took him to get a blood test to see if he was drugged. Who did it and why??? Was the issue a total set-up that we will learn more about later?

I was left with too many questions sat the end. The stalking didn't make sense. Who was after Kris? Why? What happened with Candy??? Who really was Candy???

See so many questions, so few answers. Just a HEA for Kris and a guy that I didn't think was the main character for the first couple of chapters.

Samantha is a debut author and I think this book was pretty good! I really can't wait to read what else she comes out with, I see room for improvement in her writing, but that will come with time.

It's obvious from the blurb that you are jumping head first into a love triangle and with this love triangle comes drama! In real life I'm all save the drama for your momma, but in this book I thrived on it! At times I felt uneasy because I could sense all hell breaking loose and see hearts getting broken. I know when I'm reading a triangle that things will like this will happen, but it still causes me a great deal of anxiety and I want everyone to live happily ever after, but we just can't all just be poligimist... this just isn't that kind of book... sorry. But you get what I'm saying.

Not only did this book have the dramatic angst, it also had the moments where you read it with hearts in your eyes and you butterflies in your stomach. There are gut wrenching moments that will have you in tears.

I see great things coming from this author and I can't wait to see her fine tune her craft!

I loved Down In Flames! It was a fantastic read with so many emotions. So much happens and the story keeps you on the edge of your seat from page one; there are feelings of aggravation, shock, tears, happiness and just awe. I have always said that I love a good rock star book and Samantha did an excellent job!

I loved the characters; they were perfect for the story. Kristen was such a sweetheart that just wanted to be loved by Brett until he made the biggest mistake of his life. Brett was a HOT rocker that made a decision that could make him lose the love of his life - as for Derek (sigh); he is such a hottie that always gets his heart broken and discovers that he has strong feelings for the girl that should be off limits. Will these feelings cost him his best friend?

This is Samantha’s debut book and she knocked it out of the park; i loved the writing style. Down in Flames is the first book in the Silver Tongued Devil Series but can be read as a stand alone. I cannot wait to get a hold of book two and read more by Samantha Conley!! If you love rock star books you will love this one! Go one click!

Lord have Mercy!! This book is bound to burn into you. Samantha Conley grabs your hand and leads you into the Rocker world with the first book of the Silver Tongued Devils series. She creates a world that is so believable that you want to stay. You want to hang out with Brett Ingalls and the guys.
Kristen Daniels has the world at her fingertips. She has a career that she has busted ass to achieve and it's finally happening, and her man is the sexy lead singer of the Silver Tongued Devils. She has it all!! One night changes all of that. The one person she thought was her rock tears it apart. Brett has gotten swallowed up in his fame and lost his way in the process.
Derek has always been Kristen's friend and Brett's best friend. He also has always been in love with Kristen. He has stood by her through the worst times of her life, through losing the life she thought was hers. He kept his love hidden in the shadows. Until he no longer could deny it.
Yes, this is a love triangle. Yes, you will root for certain people. Yes, you will want book two. And last but not least, YES, you will become a Samantha Conley fan.

Down in Flames (Silver Tongued Devils Book 1) by Samantha Conley was one of the best Rock Star Romances I have read! Great way to start the series and yet enough to work as a standalone. I enjoyed the drama, suspense, various kinds of love, and the connections between the characters. I loved the depth this author achieved while keeping the storyline on track.

The main characters and Derek Calloway and Kris (Kristen Davidson) are complex, strong, determined, and so right for each other. Derek is an alpha male, leader, faithful, and believes strongly in conventional relationships. Kris is independent, charismatic, intelligent, and steadfast in her moral beliefs.

The secondary characters will make outstanding main characters in upcoming books for this series! I will be very much looking forward to the rest of this series!

I am rating Down in Flames (Silver Tongued Devils Book 1) by Samantha Conley 4.9 stars!

A solid 5-stars for this book.

It has it all. Rock stars, angst, suspense, sex, and love.

This new-to-me author writes one spectacular romance. Brett and Kristen are a very happily engaged couple until one of them rocks the boat and causes trouble in paradise. Brett's best friend, Derek is also in the band. He and Kris are good friends as well. When crap hits the fan, it pushes Derek and Kris together. Can they resist the closeness that has become of their friendship? Read the book to find out! ;)

This book has a lot of heart. It also touches on the darker side of rock band members. It's just an all-around great read. I am definitely going to read her next two books of this series.

Kris and Brett are not just in love, but madly in love... until Brett makes a mistake that Kris just can't forgive nor get passed. It's a complete deal breaker.

How do you move on when you have been hurt emotionally by someone you love? Kris struggles through her breakup and with the help of Brett's best friend, Derek, she is able to pick up the pieces. But what happens when friendship lines blur? Derek and Kris are about to find out!

This story was up and down and the twists just kept on coming. I definitely wasn't expecting what happened and couldn't put the book down. This book wasn't what I expected and I usually don't like love triangles but Samantha Conley really pulled this off well. Can't wait to see where she leads us next!

Wow this book starts off as a kicker. I mean from the blurb you can pretty much figure out that someone is going to cheat. Well they do and it's huge. Kristen takes a hit but bounces back and tries to stay strong. It's rough though and you can feel the emotions bleeding through the pages. I was afraid that she would take him back. At one point I was almost certain but then Derek finally steps up. He really is a good guy and he's so loyal. I was so engrossed in this novel I read it in 3 hours. I literally couldn't put it down! I felt like my emotions were stollen from me and it's still on a rush. Amazing book and I cannot wait for more from these bad boy rockers!

Samantha is a new Author to me. This was the first book I have read of hers. But it will not be the last. I absolutely loved the story of Kristen and Derek. I even had to feel bad for Brett. I thought he was a douche but in the end he redeemed himself. The twists that were added in were perfectly written. I can not wait for the next book.

Wow just wow, this book has soo much going on! There is romance, heart ache, suspense and twists that keep you hooked on reading more. I just love the characters especially Derek and Kristen with how they try to do things right by Brett but also can't deny what they feel for each other. The way the story is told and unfolds is so natural and descriptive that you feel you are right there with them and I was totally biting my nails when things really ramped up! This story was really good, I understand that this is a new author and this is her first book. The story is strong, the characters are likable and the flow is very good. I'm a visual person so the description of the characters and some key events was great!

The heartbreak stung and I liked that, the emotion was real. The suspense was actually one of my favorite parts of this story.

I will totally be recommending the author to my friends. Job well done on book one, let's see what book 2 brings.
