Predestination or election is not a teaching of the Bible that is meant to explain anything. It is a teaching of gospel comfort whereby God assures the believer that his plan for them is one of grace and salvation. Moldstad does an excellent job of keeping the clear Biblical teachings of salvation through Christ Jesus in the foreground and explaining how attempts at explanation have always warped what God has said.

Predestination is a subject that is difficult to understand and easy to misunderstand or misinterpret for Christians. How can some people be saved and not others? Didn't Jesus die for all people? How can we reject God but not accept him?
This book helps to answer those questions. The doctrine of predestination is only to be a comfort to Christians - yes, God has elected you to salvation. He loves you and wants you to be saved, to be with him in heaven.

Excellent and brief(!) explanation of the Scriptural teaching of election or predestination. For a teaching that can come across as very complicated, Pr. Molstad writes in a very down-to-earth and easily understandable style. A must-read for anyone wanting to know more about this important teaching of God's Word!

This is a great concise work on predestination within the confessional Lutheran understanding. For anyone wishing to gain insight into this often misunderstood doctrine i highly recommend picking up a copy of this book. Molstad Jr. does an incredible job with explaining this doctrine in simple, down to earth, accessible language. I have not read a better book on the doctrine of election.
