I have not read the fourth book in this series, but of the first three, this one is, by far, the weakest link in the chain. When I read books of this type, I want to be entertained. What I really don't want is for the protagonist to display predictably poor decisions or display out-and-out cowardice in the face of the enemy. *Spoiler alert*** When he allows over 100 good people to be massacred / executed without even an attempt to cause a distraction or provide the possibility of escape my gut runs cold.
I can only hope that the next book in this series will provide a proper resolution to these actions.
