An ancient relic has a cursed dragon convinced I’m a goddess. Not just any goddess—his goddess. But for me to help him, he first must make me believe in magic.

Just a little complication, right?

I’ve been busy building my pediatric practice and my dream home. I have almost everything I want, but there are parts of my life I’ve ignored. Specifically, my love life.

When Gran’s house burns down, I head to Summerland to help her get back on her feet. She and my sister claim a dragon fight is responsible for the destruction, and I’ll have to come to grips with the neglected parts of my life. Not just the magic I don’t believe in.

Sexy Chance Drake is willing to help Gran too. He’s also skeptical of Gran’s magic after he insists one of her spells went wrong and left him in trapped in his human form.

He claims he’s a dragon, and I’ve dared him to make me believe in magic.

When I can read an ancient text no one else can decipher, nothing in my life will ever be the same. But can Chance convince me to stay in Summerland and use my magic to save the thunder?

Kristen Strassel is far cooler than she’ll make herself sound in this bio. She enjoys spending time with the voices in her head—nudging the characters toward those bad decisions and a happily ever after. When she’s not writing, she’s often still in the land of make-believe—doing makeup for film and television. Ever practical

These dragons are sure to make you believe in love. Especially after you read this book. The author did a great job of taking her created world and expanding on it. She brings magic to nonbelievers and love to those who dream. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.

Love the Dragons

Monique never believed in magic like her sister and grandmother. In fact she stayed far away from them. Until her grandmother's house got burned down by dragon fire. Chance needed to convince Monique she was his mate. But she actually was so much more.
Great book in the series.

Enjoyed the book. It contained hunky dragons so that is pretty much a given. This continues the story of the members of dragon thunder that were forced to remain in their human forms due to a love spell gone wrong. This time we get the story of Chance and Monique. Monique is Sophie's sister and Chance is Tyson's brother (from the first book). Monique has come to Summerland to help her gran out due to her house burning down. She plans to stay a few weeks and then return to Nashville. She has just gotten her house remodel finished and her pediatric practice is going well. Falling in love with a dragon is not in her plans.

Chance can't believe that his brother found his mate and got his dragon back first. He has always been the leader of their thunder and now Tyson has taken that position as he is the only one that can change. They seem to be no closer to ending the spell that has forced them to stay in human form. For some reason though, his dragon seems to be back in his head and pushing him to claim Monique. First he has to convince her to believe in magic, her magic. Little does he know that there is more to his mate than meets the eye.

I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.

Back to the Smokey Mountains for a truly magical romance story! I loved the two strong main characters butting heads with each other and the sparks between them were undeniable. Doubts and fears make Monique flee, but Chance's tenacity and heart made him pursue his queen and try to capture her! Monique learns some secrets about herself and makes huge changes in her life path. I look forward to the next romance story in the fall. This is a great series. Don't miss out and you can be caught up by the fall release!!

Loving These Smoky Mountain Dragons!!

Chance is a dragon who needs to find his mate to no longer be trapped in human form and regain his Alpha status. Monique is a pediatrician and only in town to assist after her grandmother’s house burns down. Monique believes in science, not magic.

Family, prophecy, romance and suspending belief from that which cannot be seen or proved combine to create a terrific story!

magical

Such a great story! It sucks you in from the beginning. You couldn’t help but want more after all the magic in Sophie and Tyson’s book. Now her sister Monique is here to help and chance, Tyson’s brother realizes magic is real for his dragon has awakened in her presence. I loved the story and how chance bow believed and fought with Tyson to help the thunder. At first I wasn’t a fan because he came off only wanting her to gain his alpha status back, which we don’t even know will happen just because he can change. Then it seemed because he just wanted to claim the key goddess. But it wasn’t true. He wanted her before all that. I have to say I didn’t like Monique as much as Sophie and I almost didn’t like her until she finally made a damn decision and chose chance. Her wanting to keep one foot out the door the whole time rubbed me the wrong way. And she should have gotten more grief for up and leaving and betraying everyone like that. I get wanting to keep what she worked for but she came across and wanting her cake and to eat it too. Like she wouldn’t sacrifice anything for chance and the thunder like he was willing to do for her. But she came around. Loved the way she came into magic and helped the thunder and they kicked ass!! Can’t wait for more.

Midsummer Spell was astonishingly brilliant, even though I had read a book in this series I was still amazed by the structure of the book from beginning to end and it made it a delightful read. Another entertaining read by the incredible Kristen Strassel her work is excellent to read and you so won't be disappointed and I am looking forward to reading more of her books in the future.

Monique is a rational and practical Doctor who doesn't believe in the magic her grandma Nora and sister Sofia know that life is full of magic and Dragons. The Dragons of Chance's thunder have been unable to shift for the past 50 years and might never be able to brake their curse of Chance can't convince Monique to believe in the magic in her. Believe in the magic of and beauty of being Chance's mate. But what happens when time runs out and the thunder is attacked before the curse has been lifted? This is a great story with no cheating and great supporting characters that I can't wait to read their stories as this series continues.

From uptight doctor to a goddess?

The Smoky Mountain dragons haven’t been able to shift from human to dragon for 50 years. They blame the enchantress Nora Whynot but when Sophie Whynot, Nora’s granddaughter, comes to town things start to change. It turns out that she is Tyson’s mate and he changes once they are mated. Then her sister Monique comes to town and Chance, Tyson’s older brother, knows straight away that she is his mate. But when it turns out that she can read the ancient writing the impossible becomes possible. But Monique is a world renowned paediatrician and her practice is in Nashville. In addition to that she doesn’t believe in Magic! Chance has his work cut out with this one!

Another amazing hit in this series. This is the second book in this Smoky Mountain Dragons. This story is about Chance and Monique. Their story starts after the first book. You don't need to read the first one, but to get more in depth with characters and the back story it could help. The story is full of well developed characters, fear, doubts, magic, romance, amazing chemistry and a sexy alpha dragon shifter. What else do you need. This is a must read, you will not put it down till the very end. I can't wait for the next chapter in this series.

This is the second book in this series and is just as good as the first in fact there are a lot of cross overs from book 1 to book 2

This is the story of Chance and Monique she is the sister of Sophie from book one and of course he is Tyson's brother In fact Chance is a little jealous that Tyson found his mate first. Now for some reason he is starting to feel his dragon again and all that it has to say is that he needs to claim Monique as his mate. Only problem she is only in town for awhile she will be returning to her paediatric practice soon Can he convince her to stay and what is the secret that she has that no one knows

Book one of this series definitely should be read before this one so you have knowledge of what has already happened. Book one is about Sophie and Tyson and it drew me into the series so much that I have bought and preordered all the books in the series. In this book Monique (Sophie's sister) and Chance have met and there are several surprises and twists ahead that I don't want to spoil by telling you more. The book held my attention from beginning to end - so much so that I started book one last night, immediately went to book two at 1 a.m. and now want to go into book three but it won't be out until the 23rd of September. Yes, this book and the series so far is that interesting.

Well the second book was just as good as the first one!💚🐉

This is a great book to get lost in and dream of all the possibilities and second chances and that life may not turn out the way you plan and work for. Fate likes to laugh at the plans we make and then do whatever she wants, even though it looks nothing like your original plan 😂. Sometimes you get something bigger than yourself. The hardest thing you to do is not fight it. So far I really love this series! If books one and two are anything to go by the next three are going to be just as great. I highly recommend this series so far and now I'm moving on to the third book and I can't wait to start!🐉✨💚🗡🔥🏹

Monique has come to Summerland to help her grandmother and sister. She doesn't believe in magic. Chance is one of the dragons waiting to meet his mate and be able to shift into his dragon again. He knows she is his mate. Monique and Chance spend time together while Chance teaches her to believe in magic. When a secret is discovered, will he be able to protect her?

Midsummer Spell by Kristen Strassel is the second book in the Smoky Mountain Dragons series. This book is all about a pediatrician named Monique Whynot who visit her Grandmother in a small mountain town called Summerland. While she is there Monique and a dragon named Chance Drake make some beautiful magic together. This story is a sweet story that involves magical keys and goddesses and some hot dragon love. This dragon story makes for a fun read but not a very in depth one. Midsummer Spell is a sweet read.

Do you believe in magic?

Monique and Chance's story was amazing. The two older siblings coming together because of their younger siblings. Monique never expected to find what she was missing in her life and Chance embraced the possibility of her as his mate. It wasn't a surprise that Monique ran away, but Chance needed to see her in her element. In the end she chose her forever with Chance.

I found this story to be extremely romantic. I love the dragons. They have an interesting history and the Whynot women have definitely left them in a tailspin. To truly understand the story, I highly suggest starting with the first book. This book brings Dr Whynot to Summerland. And the attraction to Chase is off the charts. But can she believe in Magic and give them a chance? Plenty of sweet romance with just a bit of action.

Sometimes butting heads is the only way to make fire and boy did Monique and Chance have a way with it. He's a dragon that hasn't shifted, she's ever so practical and has never believed in magic.
I can't wait for the next one, this dragon world is well crafted and exciting.

I enjoyed this new "Smoky Mountain Dragons" story; it's very magical! I always am a sucker for a paranormal story featuring a dragon. I was not disappointed in this one at all. This is a well developed and written story as well as a lovely romance. I really like Chance and Monique. He found his mate but can he convince her? I love these two! This authors creativity is so wonderful.

Excellent

Monique and Chance are two lost souls. Monique flies to her grandmother's side when she's rushed to the hospital after her house burns down. Chance is struck by powerful chemistry when he meets Monique. It takes a lot of convincing for Monique to give a happily ever after a forever chance.
