You’ll never have a future until you learn to let go of the past…
Cole’s not looking for someone to love him. He wants to be used and discarded. That's much easier than getting tangled up in emotions. And there’s no way he will ever let another man take control. He tried that once and nearly lost himself before he got out. Now, he’s focused on running his coffee shop and getting a little action when the urge strikes.
Bear moved to Annandale looking for a fresh start. The way things ended with his last boy, he’s shied away from a crucial part of who he is. As the head bouncer at Club 83, he’s used to seeing beautiful men every night. When he meets Cole, he can’t deny the chemistry between them. The more Cole insists he doesn’t want Bear to be gentle with him, the more compelled he is to teach Cole there has to be a balance for their dynamic to work.
Will they be able to overcome past hurts so they can admit they need one another?
I also felt like Cole was two different people. One moment he was this insecure guy and the next he was this super slutty and arrogant party boy. We got Cole’s POV before he went to a friend’s party, where he was thinking about him being quite the hermit and how he would rather stay home. But then we got Bear’s POV at the party and there was Cole, coming onto him in a way that made me check if this was the same person. That sort of thing happened a couple of times throughout the book and every time I thought it was weird.
I’m normally all for the daddy kink, but these guys kind of sucked all the fun out of it by trying to analyze everything they did. Was Bear being too overbearing, was Cole going to like calling him Daddy, were they being honest enough with each other? The list was endless. And that made this book feel less passionate than it could have been.
So while this had a lot of potential, the endless talking and worrying killed the mood for me.
It was only OK for me. There were some scenes that could have been hot, but weren’t because they were glossed over. The scenes ended before they truly started. While one character got closure on his past the other never did. It felt like his story was unfinished. I’m not opposed to HFN, but I would like the story to be complete.
The love story between Cole & Jared “Bear”Daddy includes Ex’s angst, lots of coffee and kinky bits. This is just an okay read, a retread story. A Daddy/Boy dynamic.
More of a 3.5 star read. There was so much potential for some seriously kinky shiz but they were either glossed over or not even realized. Not very often I want more smexing but I did here. They both had issues to work through which was done pretty well. I'm enjoying this series but hope the next book gets kinkier.
I found myself liking this more than book two because the couple had a bit better communication, although Cole’s insecurities were tough. I liked Bear and Cole’s dynamics a lot.
have been enjoying the kinkier books by this author, and I have particularly liked this installment of the series.
Cole and Bear's relationship isn't always an easy one, there are issues for both of them, however the author has dealt with these very well. Things do get a little off the rails for our boys towards the end, however they are resolved like adults.
There is so much attraction between Bear and his boy, it flies of the pages when they are in the same room. It was wonderful watching them realise that they could fall in love again.
Beautifully written, wonderful story arc and character development. I can't wait to see what happens at Club 83 next
This is the second book in the Club 83 series. They don't need to be read in order but there is reference to the main characters from the first book, Kiss Me, Daddy, as well as characters from the other Annandale series.
* How did the book make you feel?: This was a real romance book for me. I was so happy the whole time I read it.
* How do you feel about how the story was told?: The story was told from the perspective of the two main characters. Since it was told this way I was able to really understand each character and develop feelings for him.
* What did you think about the main characters?: I loved how Bear and Cole had their first interaction. I wasn't expecting them getting together. Bear is a gruff and tough guy who is hard on the outside but a cuddle bear on the inside. I loved how he took care of Cole. Cole was looking for a good time and wasn't expecting to fall for Bear. Cole is an intelligent man who owns his own business but still needed someone to care about him.
* Which parts of the book stood out to you?: The kinky scenes stood out to me. They were hot and steamy. I just LOVE reading MM action.
* What did you think about the ending?: The ending was sweet. It was a good closing for the story. There were no loose ends and I felt I got a full complete story of Bear and Cole.
* What is your impression of the author?: I really like this author. She has a way of explaining things without having to go into too much detail. I will defintely be reading more from her. Actually, as I write this I have already started in the next book in the series, Show Me, Daddy.
I saw these questions on another reviewers post and thought I'd use them. Serial Romance Librarian
The fluent writing made this an easy and enjoyable read, but I gotta say, the actual story went over my head a bit. The "show" and "tell" aspects of this book didn't quite seem to mesh. I'll try to explain, which will lead to spoilers.
Cole likes to be used and humiliated just a little bit, but also needs to feel cherished and cared for, yet he feels like a functioning adult shouldn't want either. Bear likes to deliver both as a Dom, but is afraid of coming off as overbearing and generally too much. What actually happens is Bear calling Cole filthy names during sex, bringing him lunch occasionally and sometimes reminding him to go to bed at a reasonable hour - that's hardly enough to even blib on my kink radar.
Both their insecurities stem from a bad experience in a previous relationship, which is alluded to a lot before any details are revealed. From the bitter yet vague reflections I expected Cole's ex to be jail-worthy abusive and Bear's ex to have killed himself or something equally horrifying. But all the information we finally get suggests that their partners were a bad match personalitywise - Bear's ex is a pushover and Cole's a nag -, but mostly normal people, who happened to say mean things during the break-up blaming the other party. I mean, obviously humans fear nothing more than rejection and a break-up tends to trigger insecurities, but to give up on relationships completely because of a pretty standard one...? I didn't get it.

To my ratings: A 3,5* is clicked with a 4* but in review marked as 3,5*:
5* - very very good and rare (it would be a Blow-Away-book like ‘Jesse's Smile’ or ‘Joey’ from Angelique Jurd, ‘Save the the kids’ series from EM Leya, ‘Love’s Tethered Heart’ from C.L. Etta or ‘Liberty’ from Seth King), it's like an A+
4* - very good and will be often reread and is a WOW-book with interesting plot and surprises (like most of Andrew Grey books and Davidson Kings 'Haven Hart'-series) it's like an A
3,5* - a really good book, which will be reread a few times (most romances where you can enjoy for relaxing and during waiting times in hospitals). I can recommend them definitively! It's like an B+
3* - it could be more then a one-time-reader (2-3 times a year), it's like a B
2* - it was ok to read, but it's more a one-time-reader (I wouldn't recommend it heartily, but it was ok) It's like a C-, D
1* - sorry, but that isn't really a book for me (too many mistakes, not nice plot, illogical, so an absolute NO-GO). It's like failure in the whole line, dismissed, repeat the class
I enjoyed this book! I really liked reading about Cole and bear. They have great chemistry and the author made good choices regarding the characters. The story is paced well and well flushed out. It does get a little chaotic towards the end of the book but it is resolved fairly easily. The romantic scenes in this book are great as well. I read and ARC of this book and I actually feel that I liked this book better than book 1. I feel that the story was interesting and kept me engaged through out the book. My heart went out to both of them and I loved reading about the two of them and each of them learning to love again. It is definitely worth the read and I would recommend this book if you are looking for Daddy kink/age gap romance.
Another Great Read! I pre-ordered Use Me, Daddy and received it on release day. As I was already reading the final book in a series, I waited until I was finished to read this one. Once I picked it up, I read straight through to the end. I love the characters. We've seen Bear a little in other books, but to enjoy his character development in this story has been great! I really loved reading about Cole's relationship with his parents. I would have enjoyed reading about Bear meeting his family. I can imagine how that plays out. Especially since I tend to have a similar, unique, open relationship with my children. This was a really good book and as long as you keep writing Club 83 books, I'll keep reading them!
3.5 stars An okay story to read. Both Bear aka Jacob and Cole have bad experiences bagage that is still present in their current lives. A new Daddy and Boy relationship begins. Hot sexy scenes included with duel POVs. I liked the story well enough but some scenes didn't mesh and confused me regarding their personalities. I loved the first book in this series but this one missed it for me.
Bear was security /door bouncer for club 83 and a was a Daddy but after his last boy he didn't want another. Until..... Cole 25yrs was the owner of a bakery/cafe and for 3 weeks he couldn't stop thinking of a certain bouncer.
This is the first one in the series that I've listened to and now I am eager for the rest. This is a spectacular daddy/boy story with a perfectly bratty boy and a perfectly caring and nurturing daddy. Cole and Bear each have trust issues because of past relationships but they are so perfect for one another and each one is exactly what the other needs. I loved watching their relationship grow and flourish. The narrator is truly wonderful and really helps bring the characters to life. He really enhances the overall enjoyment of the story. I voluntarily reviewed a gifted copy of this audio book.
And okay story of daddy/boy (not little). Bear left his town when his relationship went sour and his ex said he was a controlling asshole. Cole runs his own coffee shop and broke up with a controlling asshole ex. Cole claims he just wants to be used and treated roughly, and Bear is on board with that but he also has a soft Daddy side. There is quite a bit of them both being unsure that what is happening is not a repeat of their old relationships, but they gradually grow to be able to judge whether they are crossing lines. I was not impressed with Bear's sister. Sneaky bitch who used tears and being pregnant to gain sympathy in my opinion. But it was a decent read for the genre.
I loved Cole and Bear's story. I very much liked that the two MC's talked about their baggage from the past right away with each other instead of us reading chapter after chapter of angsty musings. Thank you Quin Ward. Loved to see how Cole and Bear found their way too each other. Great Daddy/boy book. Only thing negative for me is that I would have loved to read them together after they get home at the end.
Excellently executed story, I was so engrossed with the banter at one point that I missed my train stop. It would have been 5 stars if it wasn’t for the sister who breezed into story out of the blue at the 11th hour, or 95% through, under the most ridiculous pretext. 3 seconds later she breezed out. This development was completely unnecessary and didn’t add anything to the story apart from annoy the reader.
This was such a wonderful love story! The plot was beautifully crafted! The characters were perfectly suited to each other and the story was well done! The kink was not overwhelming but it was a major part of the story. Bear was a caretaker Daddy and Cole was a bratty boy! They were both damaged from previous relationships but they worked through it! Nothing contrived or ridiculous in this book...just a well crafted love story!
I love Bear so much! The fact that some call him Care Bear fits him so well. He has so much to offer, whether that's a tender kiss or something a little rougher. Cole is pretty great too. He's actually a very strong and independent man, he just needs to realize it. Things with Bear, his sister, and Nick went a little too smoothly. It either needed to be left out of the story or it needed to be more detailed.
A Daddy kink story, as the name states. While this story does avoid some of the stereotypes of the Daddy kink trope, it does so with rather bland, whiny characters. Both MCs' stories rely on the hurt-by-previous-romance trope without much in the way of well-developed characterization. In short, this is a generic Daddy kink story and gets dull at times. Matters are made worse with grammatical errors that shouldn't have slipped past the editing process.
A really enjoyable story about two men needing a new chance at love
A perfect story to cheer up a difficult day. Quinn Ward encourages you to enter into the world of her creativity, and to watch as Bear and Cole find their own way to love and happiness. Both characters are lovely caring people and it is good to see recurring characters too.
This is about two guys who find love in the most unusual places. A guy who is afraid to bring a relationship and settled for cheap non relationships with zero love. A daddy who is broken who can't trust himself to be what a boy needs. End was ok but would have loved best to meet the parents and a little sizzle.
I really enjoyed this book and while i personally am not into humiliation, the author writes it in a way that makes it so hot.
If I had to criticize one thing about this book, I truly with there was more sex. The one scene that’s written set the pages on fire, but it was still only one scene.
Now that we know folks at the club and coffee spot we have another couple looking for a Daddy and boy. Trust is the most important part of a relationship and both these men had a history of their trust being abused. Bear, the Daddy and Cole, his boy, make it work. Loved the story and writing. Well done Quinn, can't wait for the next couple.
A great read.. That leaves you on the edge of your seat.. Can Daddy Bear turn Cole into a trusting man again? Is Daddy Bear ready to be a daddy can? Lots of love an kinky times with 2 men finding love& forever despite thier broken past..
Mm and Daddy-boy dynamic. I feel like this book was more developed than the first, particularly the characters’s romantic histories. It used multi-first person story telling just like the first book and had strong internal conflict. Really enjoyed.
This was OK, but not a strong 3 stars. Any chance of a fulfilling read was glossed over. It could have been extra hot but scenes were rushed and superficial. Rather disappointing but not a bad read in the end.
