Rate this book
The survivors of the Long Night, the Lee Corporation and the foreign invaders come together for a finale in the Long Night series that you won't want to miss!

The Long Night takes a frightening real-world situation and asks a simple question: "what if?" In a world that is increasingly connected, corporations have more information about us than ever before. A fictional extension on what has actually started happening in our society, the Lee Corporation's Bonesware health monitoring implants were supposed to keep us healthy and safe - until they didn't. Now, with over ninety percent of the civilized world dead over the course of a night, the few who remain must try to survive.

The Long Night is a collaborative work between Kevin Partner and Mike Kraus. A unique take on the apocalypse and on the post-apocalyptic genre, The Long Night will be a 6-part series of full-length novels released once per month.

I write post apocalyptic science fiction both on my own account and with Mike Kraus, as well as space opera and fantasy. And one or two other bits and bobs.

Based in the south of England, I've been writing since my teens, alternating between funny and serious. In the mid 1990s, I became a regular columnist for PC Pro magazine and have written a number of business and craft books over the years.

Fiction is my first love, however - I hope you enjoy my voyages into an uncertain future.

Showdown - a review by Rosemary Kenny

The eponymous showdown is between Annabel Lee - or her AI equivalents/clones - and the Chinese General Si Chin Ho., in Book 6, the magnificent finale to The Long Night, The Thrilling Post-Apocalyptic Survival Series, by Kevin Partner and writing partner/author in his own right, Mike Kraus.

Each of the antagonists plans to double-cross the other, but who will win? Lee, ('converted' to her current form by her husband Scott, to give her eternal life after her physical death) has developed an evil new 'persona' that spells doom to mankind. She reinforces this megalomania by overcoming rebels with the use of Reapers - deadly weaponized drones that patrol areas of resistance to her master plan.
Chinese forces, led by 'Annabel's' treacherous ally Ho, have invaded mainland seaboard States in return for supposed control of American survivors and the whole of the Northern continent . However as readers know, there's no honour among thieves (or would-be dictators), so Ho's and Lee's plans are both modified without warning, when their power-struggle gets dirty.

A must for your post-apocalyptic survival bookshelves, it's a 5-star winner for all sci-fi thriller/what if...? fans. What are you waiting for?

Showdown is the last installment in a brilliant collaboration between Kevin Partner and Mike Kraus. The finale was epic and unforgiving. Characters that the reader has seen grow from average nobodies into reluctant heroes, each exhibiting bravery in their own journeys until the bitter end. I appreciate the messy ending; a victory not without its losses. I struggled to stop reading this story as a whole, each new book building on the excitement and tension from the last, and I would recommend the series to any fans of the post-apocalyptic genre.

The Long Night you'll never forget

:What a FANTASTIC book series!! I really enjoyed the series. I got so excited when I knew the next book was coming out. I've read a lot of futuristic books, but this one had a totally different twist. It was a well written series. I pray you have a follow-up book to update us on these beloved characters.

This was a very good final book to what has been a great series. The cause of the disaster is different than most books in this genre and I like that the solution to the technological menace was developing a technological ally. Some of the outcome was a bit predictable but satisfying nonetheless.

I had a hard time reading this one. I wanted to know the ending but I didn’t want it to end. Some made it some didn’t. The reapers were hard to fight. Will Scott Lee come through with helping with Alison? DC is having a hard time feeding all the people. It was a great story and I really enjoyed reading it.

Heartbreakingly Glorious

Loves lost, loves gained. Family, friends, betrayal, and enemies all wrapped up I a souped up post-apocalyptic thrill ride! Outstanding characters turned heroes out of ordinary men and women! A true must read from start to finish!!!

Read the whole series!

If you like the post-apocalyptic genre, start with the first book and work your way through this series. Drama, action, sinister villains, this collection has those in droves, with just a smattering of romance and heartbreak.

Everything comes to a head between the regional governments, the Lee Corporation, China, North Korea and those independent souls fighting for their survival in post-apocalyptic America.

OK. A short read which tied up the series. Lots of death and destruction, as expected. Rather predictable, especially on who survives until the end.

Good ending

Enjoyed this series. I hope there is more like this to follow. Was sorry about some of the main characters that got killed.

Great

Great and thrilling story. I do have a question for the author. What difference would it make if Solly or Scott did the upload?

Slow,Slow,Quick Quick Slow!

Very slow, and at times,
heavy to read, but we'll worth it to stick to it. Too much detail means I got bored a lot of times.

This 6th in The Long Night series is an out-of-control roller-coaster ride which I throughly enjoyed. I love many of the characters and hurt when they hurt. I am hopeful that book seven will be released soon. I highly recommend the entire series but it should be read in the order written for maximum comprehension.

Really good

Best of the series of books. Plenty of action and adventure. A traitor emerges and almost foils the resistance but again Solly and his cohorts prevail.
