I left here a man but came back a beast

CHANCE

A shoulder-fired missile broke my body.

But betrayal obliterated my heart.

For months I lingered in and out of hell until my body healed.

Now I’m back in town with my club brothers. But I am still fighting a war of darkness in my head and I can’t see a way out.

Then she comes to town like a summer breeze and makes me feel things I didn’t know existed.

She has the voice of an angel and the body of a goddess.

But she is running from her own demons. From the Devil himself.

He's coming to town.

But I've walked through hell and survived, and I'll walk through it again to protect her.

CASSIDY

I’ve spent years running from my past.

Town to town.

State to state.

Never putting down roots.

I wish I could but I can’t. Because I am running from the Devil and if he finds me, he will drag me down to hell again.

Then I meet a beautiful, scarred beast of man who makes me feel something for the first time in my life.

Hope.

He makes me want to stay but it’s impossible.

Because the Devil is coming and when he arrives I won't stand a chance.

The past was gone.
Vanquished by love.
By faith.
And by hope.

After reading what happened to the eldest Calley boy, I needed to know how he was doing. Chance was a Navy SEAL and a member of the Kings of Mayhem MC. His grandfather founded the club, his father was the president until his death, and his uncle was now the ruling Prez. Wounded after his last mission, it took him months to get anywhere close to normal. Everyone wants him to get back to the easy guy he was before. Before the mission from hell. Before the mission that hurt his heart and killed the rest of his unit. Before the mission that left him a broken man. No amount of alcohol or women seemed to be able to drag him back. And then he hears the voice of an angel...

Cassidy is struggling and she's on the run. Her sweet voice and guitar skills keep her eating, but staying in one place too long will only get her killed. When Chance's protective instincts kick in, Cassidy quickly realizes that there's no safer place for her to be than with him. The devastatingly handsome stranger becomes her confidant, her friend, and eventually her lover. They create a bubble of love and nothing can penetrate it... except the evil that Cassidy was running from in the first place.

I really enjoyed this book. Learning about Chance's heart was amazing. He was such a wonderful and endearing hero. I liked what the author did with Cassidy's part of the story and the horrifying way it played out. The suspenseful element was well placed and the villain was truly villainous. Once again, Penny Dee gave me an awesome story and I can't wait for some of the other characters to get their happy endings. Give me Bull!

This book had the potential to be the best yet. Chance is an interesting character. At heart he’s a gentle soul and with a different father and a more traditional upbringing. He would be a different person. But life’s shaped him. And he’s suffered. He no longer feels worthy of love and doesn’t expect to ever be happy again.

Enter Cassidy. She’s running from her past. She doesn’t see a monster when she looks at Chance she sees an incredibly handsome man. The scars add to his appeal. But the biker vest has her stepping back.

These two dance around each other while Chance steps up to save her.

I enjoyed this book but...

I know there’s always a but. I understand Cassidy likes Molly and likes working at the diner. But if she’s as scared as she is (and righty so) she wouldn’t hang out in such a public place. And don’t get me started on the looking for necklace.

She would make it look like she left town. Even going so far as to leave and be smuggled back. She wouldn’t be seen on the back of Chances bike.

Yes I’m picky I know. And it’s just a biker romance. I shouldn’t take it so seriously. But I always try to put myself in the heroines place and no way would I be visible.

Moaning aside this is a good entertaining read.

I am so happy that I stuck with this series as I find myself enjoying it more and more with each new book.

This time I had the pleasure of reading about Chance, a wounded war vet who has more scars than just the ones on his body. He has a childhood full of misery and abuse to add to the devastation he suffered before he was medically discharged. He came home a very different man, and he is lost until he meets Cassidy. She is a woman on the run from her own share of horrors, but meeting Chance changes her whole world and finally gives her a reason to stop running.
description
I loved this wonderfully well written story of two broken people who manage to help each other heal, and overcome their pasts, together. I loved what a bada** Cassidy turned out to be. She was a fighter and a survivor. She ended up being one of those kind of women who could save herself and didn't completely need a man to do it for her. But if any man was the kind you'd want to save you, it's Chance. I loved the push and pull between these two. Even when they were fighting their feelings or attraction, it was with good reason. I also actually kind of like the different MC portrayals in this book. It showed that not all of them were the same, especially depending on who ran it. There were some pretty sensitive subjects dealt with in the story, but I felt they were well written.

Overall, I just found myself really enjoying this book and I hope to get more from Penny Dee in future.

This was book 4 in the "Kings of Mayhem" series. Chance Calley is a former Navy Seal who was injured physically and emotionally. Cassidy has spent year moving from town to town along the way she met like her friend Missy who I did not like it her brother. Cassidy is a singer and when the club hires her she is a big hit with the bikers. When they first met Cassidy thought that all bikers were bad but as she gets to know Chance she realizes how wrong she was. When Missy wants to stay she gets a job only to come to find out that her friend betrayed her and put her out Chance comes to her rescue. When she tells Chance what she is running from and why it breaks your heart she has been abused by her adopted brother for years. I loved this book both she and Chance have been through a lot. Chances father and him do some bad things I knew from reading book 1 of this series that there father was an asswhole to both him and Cade. When the step brother comes after her Chance will do anything to protect her. This was a good read my favorite so far in this series. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

Chance is the beast, scarred and hurt. Cassidy is the beauty, but she's been hurt and running from evil. Chance protects her and falls for her. Cassidy doesn't listen, and it almost ends badly for everyone. Loved seeing the previous peeps and that no one dies in this book.

Hell on wheels - Beast and Angel story

If I thought that previous books in King's of Mayhem series were great, this one was mind blowing and I just freaking love it.
This story was about two broken souls who's struggling with their terrible past, seeking salvation and all of it wrapped up in Mc's world full of hot bikers, dangerous actions, twist and turn.

Hell on Wheels is book#4 in King's of Mayhem series but you can read it as a standalone. Unless when you read it, you'll have mighty need for knowing whole series. All of King brothers are hot, sexy and handsome bikers with their strong family bond, who's leading motorcycle club. Their marks are vests, Harleys and devotion to the queens of their heart.

Chance, the eldest from King's brothers, was handsome and bulky biker but also a former soldier. He went through hell on the war and whole after-effects left so many scars in his body and soul. He felt as a monster and shut down his heart for feelings.
But when he met Cassidy it's like he saw an angel and something shift deep down in his soul.

Cassidy went through a lot in her whole young life either. She was very talented and beautiful young woman, but couldn't find happiness in her life, running all the time from a man as a devil.

From the moment Chance and Cassidy have met I fell in love with them. They were strong and complex heroes but together they're like pure fire.
When they started to get to know one another, it appears that many things bonded them together, but many other stands on their way to build a relationship.

"We were too broken. To jaded by past. And too frightened of our future"

I loved the slow burn and strong chemistry between them. Their interaction created thrills of emotions and goosebumps on my skin. I was impatiently awaiting if their love will explode with full power.

From the very first book of King's of Mayhem series, I fell in love with Penny's Dee biker world and every next one was getting better.
Hell on Wheels is excellent MC's romance story with fast pace, suspense and action in the book. Sometimes my heart was racing hundred miles an hour with events in the book and I was so fast flipping through the pages. Sometimes my heart was melting under Cassidy and Chance difficult and complicated relationships.

Whole background in the story and second characters were written in very interested manner and perfectly completed this story.
Bull or grandma Sybil are my second favorite heroes. Their past made me want to read their own story.

Thank you so much Penny Dee for the opportunity to early read and honestly review Hell on Wheels book.

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the book. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Looks like Penny Dee did it again! If you are looking for ovaries-busting, knees-melting kind of romance, then this might just be it for you.

I thought Biker Baby was really good, this one turns out to be even better, and this comes from someone who, most of the time, would turn away from MC story. But Hell on Wheels I enjoyed, very, very much.

Chance is at the centre of this story. I remembered Chance vividly from Biker Baby because his story and story was something that I find intriguing. I was looking forward to read his story and I am happy beyond words that it did not disappoint.

Finally an eye catching read after a long time. Hell On Wheels by @authorpennydee was riveting and an intense read. All hell breaks loose when Chance falls in love. He fight hard. He loves even harder. Strongly plotted, alpha hotness, second chance romance for the hero and love at first sight... This story truly gave those romantic vibes I am always after.

I did miss the dirty talking. He definitely needs to convey his feelings more! But nonetheless, it was refreshing. With a 4 stars, this novel certainly made my Thursday! ✨❤️

The blurb drew me in but the first pages had me hooked. Chance calls himself the Beast because he was hit by missle that left his body damaged but also his mind. He lives with that and the betrayl of the girl he loved daily. I was really surprised when Cassidy caught his eye and held his attention for so long. When he offers to help her you know its gonna be amazing watching them connect and grow together. There chemistry keeps you reading til the end.

This is the 4th book of the series. Chance has been away from the action at home stationed in the military. When know he get's severely injured. The scars and the demon's he carry make him feel like a Beast. Not worthy of any woman's touch. And when he sees Cassidy, his Angel singing on the street corner, he knows he is no where close to worthy of her.

Cassidy fights her own demons. She is on the run. Chance is so drawn to her, he promised to protect her no matter what. As they both struggle to overcome their pasts, they develop a friendship and a trust that later turns into steamy passion.

This one is perhaps my favorite of the series. I loved book 1 as well. But this one pulled at the heart just a bit more. There is some suspense and some club business to be dealt with. It was good to see Chance interacting with his brothers. I would have liked to see more of their wives but we get a good dose of Grandma Sybil and that made up for missing the Queens.

Great epilogue. I am hoping we get to see baby sister Calley at some point. She needs and HEA as well. Over protective big brothers---I have a feeling!

Great addition to the series.

This is a well delivered read.

Hell On Wheels by Penny Dee is exactly that. I'm so overwhelmed and in love with Chance and Cassidy's story that I'm struggling to find my composure.
It's that HOT!

When Chance lays eyes on a certain smokin' hot woman, he doesn't realise that everything he thought was his life was all about to change.
Cassidy has many demons, but so does Chance. When their lives cross paths, will either be able to face what's ahead or will their pasts intervene and destroy everything?
Read it to find out ;)

I honestly love this series so much!!! I was so freaking excited when Penny announced book four of the Kings Of Mayhem series, and boy did she deliver!
This book held so much depth and emotion I often had to put it down to just go 'WOW'. I'm beyond excited to give this book its well deserved 5 stars and am excitedly awaiting my next Penny Dee fix.
I highly recommend this book.

Chance has not been the same since he was hurt in the Navy, not just hurt but destroyed and betrayed. Chance has not gotten close to another woman since, that is until he hears Cassidy singing. He knows he should stay away from Cassidy, he feels he is not good enough for her but she quickly becomes his everything and finding out there is a threat out there has Chance going into protective mode.

Cassidy has spent years running and now with Chance she feels that maybe the time has come to put down roots and everything about Chance wants her to stay. Can she take a chance with Chance?

Wonderful read. A couple of times was really surprised by Cassidy's past and present. Chance was terrific match for Cassidy, he lays it all out for her. Full of twists and turns, look forward to the rest in the series.

REVIEW: HELL ON WHEELS is the fourth instalment in Penny Dee’s contemporary, adult KINGS OF MAYHEM MC erotic, romance series focusing on the members of the Kings of Mayhem MC. This is Sargent at Arms and former Navy SEAL Chance Calley, and musician/waitress Cassidy aka Chelsea Silvermane’s story line. HELL ON WHEELS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalments is revealed where necessary.

NOTE: Due to the story line content, there may be some triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Chance and Cassidy) HELL ON WHEELS follows Cassidy, a young woman on the run from her past, a past that is about to catch up and destroy. When the band scheduled to play at the Kings of Mayhem MC patching in ceremony cancels at the last minute, Sargent at Arms Chance Calley finds a replacement with a beautiful street busker he knows only as Cassidy, a woman about to run for places unknown. With her past just a few steps behind, Cassidy makes enough money to head for the hills but betrayal comes at a cost. Panicked and afraid for her life, Cassidy will, once again, come face to face with Chance Calley, the man who is about to change her life. What ensues is the building relationship between Chance and Cassidy, and the potential fall-out as Cassidy’s past demands all, and so much more.

Chance Calley is a former US Navy SEAL who has suffered greatly when his last deployment went all to h*ll. Scarred, both inside and out, Chance doesn’t do relationships as he is unable to get past what happened and why, but something about Cassidy stirs our hero’s frozen heart. Cassidy has seen monsters and Chance isn’t even close to her list but the monsters from her past are closing in, and will take everyone down to get what they want.

The relationship between Cassidy and Chance is one of immediate attraction but neither one is in a place for a permanent relationship. Having to always look over her shoulder, Cassidy is unable to settle down without fear of being found but meeting Chance Calley finds our heroine hoping for a future, a future that includes a happily ever after. The $ex scenes are intimate, passionate and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

The secondary and supporting characters include Cade and Indy (Kings of Mayhem #1 & Brothers in Arms #2), Caleb and Honey (Biker Baby #3), as well as club president Michael ‘Bull’ Western, and members Vader, Joker, Animal, and Hawke, as well as Granny Sybil Calley. We are introduced to Cassidy’s friend and roommate Missy, and Missy’s brother Craig. The requisite evil has many faces.

HELL ON WHEELS is a story of family, vengeance, betrayal, madness and love; a story of retribution, fear, trust and acceptance. The premise is emotional, intense and engaging; the characters are energetic, broken and colorful; the romance is steamy and hot HELL ON WHEELS is a gritty, spicy and edgy look at love in the world of the Kings of Mayhem MC.

Slowly these books are growing on me. Not totally. But Enough to find it interesting enough to finish them.

Chance & Cassidy story was ok. Out there but but ok. The swamp people with bad teeth was eye opening. 😂 the whole Barrett thing was good. Up until we got to the end. What he wanted to do. It felt like it was added for extra drama.

I love grandma Sybil!!! She was bad ass! 😂

Overall this was a ok read. The next book in this series was the book I requested from Netgalley. I just wanted to catch up before I started Off Limits.

In book 4 of Kings of Mayhem we get Chance our broken war hero. He has been through so much and is skillful at keeping his memories to himself. Since he has been back women have come and gone, but has not been at the top of his list. Until he meets a fiery blonde bombshell with a voice of an Angel. Cassidy has so many demons of her own. She never stays in a place very long for fear of being caught. Her situation will have you wanting to protect her just has Chance does.
Their story does not start out all hearts and flowery. It is a very slow burn that builds up to an even more explosive ending. Both Chance and Cassidy deserve nothing but happiness. We get a big look into both of their pasts. Their pasts are not something I would wish upon anyone. The saying what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. I fully believe it applies to these two.
I have read every book in this series. The author does an amazing job at pulling you in. All the emotions that the characters have you will feel them too. We get heartbreak, pain, frightened, and then of course love.

Hell on Wheels is book 4 in the Kings of Mayhem MC series, they can each be read on their own but I've read and loved them all but this one is my absolute favorite in this series!!

Chance is home after a horrific event destroyed both his mind and body. He's acting like he's fine but he has demons.
Cassidy is running from her own demons, she's had a pretty horrific life herself and has to keep moving to outrun it.
A chance meeting brings them together and wanting to help her gives Chance a bit of normalcy.
His protective instincts haven't been affected by his past, he wants to help and avenge Charity but along the way they both help each other start to heal.

Their road isn't an easy one, it's not without bumps but keeping her safe helps him find the man he thought he'd lost.

I loved this book, it really is my favorite in this series and I have no clue how the author will make the next any better but I can't wait to find out!

Penny has knocked another one out of the park with this fantastic story! I could not put it down from page one, right up to the last page. I have thoroughly enjoyed this entire series but I loved Chance and Cassidy’s story!

Chance is so messed up in so many ways. My heart broke for him; he had some pretty raw, emotional and physical scars that keep him from moving forward. Poor Cassidy, her story hits a bit close to home for me on some level.

Hell On Wheels is the fourth book in the Kings of Mayhem MC series. It can be read as a standalone although I suggest reading the first three books first. It will give you more insight into all the other characters in the series. I can't wait to read more from Penny Dee.

I really enjoyed the others in the series and this one was just as good. Both Chance and Cassidy had a lot to overcome and had been through a lot. Chance was injured in the war and Cassidy lived a youth of pain. When these two came together there was a connection. They worked together and dismissed their demons, they were great together and there was a lovely epilogue.

Thanks to NetGalley for the copy.

Chance Calley is holding in a lot of hate and anger. He’s also holding on to a lot of pain. Cassidy Lewis doesn’t want anything to do with trouble. She’s the opposite of Chance – she’s holding in a lot of fear. Even though Chance has a lot going on in his head, he sees a woman in trouble and is willing to do what is necessary to see that she’s safe.

This is one of those books that I felt like a kid at Christmas. Is it here yet? My mother would say I have ants in my pants. I’ve gotten to the point I look forward to her next book but I’m not the most patient person in the world. I need my Penny Dee fix. I know our author has plenty of other material I could check out but I want my Kings of Mayhem.

Chance gives the reader more than the workings of an MC. We get to see who he is and what he had to deal with prior to our introduction. Cassidy has her own set of worries but Chance looks to be her knight in shining armor. You will have no trouble seeing the stirrings of something more but for me it was all about the suspense.

Got to love how good our author is at creating the devil himself – he will make you shiver. Of course he wears a disguise – he’s well known to one of our main characters. And our author keeps us turning the page because our devil teases us and if we don’t want to miss the point where he gets what’s coming to him you just can’t stop until the end. And if you don’t get to the end then you’ll miss how the author gets you to laugh and to smile.

I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

The fourth instalment introduces us finally to Chance , the oldest son of the Calley and the most mysterious of the lot. He is reckless and waiting to explode haunted by his squad death. He is the perfect Sergeant at Arms and no one wants to mess him knowing that he has scars everywhere.

Until Cassidy enters the picture and makes forget his pain and gives him hope. Something he has long forgotten about. A chance to love again and find happiness something that is desperately missing in his life.

But the road to self discovering isn’t easy. Like many other women in this series, Cassidy has a past and her past isn’t pretty. She doesn’t feel that she capable of being loved by a biker. She doesn’t trust until Chance proves that he isn’t just a MC member.

There is a wonderful man hiding behind the scars and pain. He just needs the perfect women to open up and let him fall from his pedestal and feel something. This was the perfect way to end the stories of men of the Calley family. Chance was the enigma and his story was probably the most raw and confronting with emotions.

We had plenty of grit and dangerous moments. But we never feel connection to emotions until now. Cassidy and Chance both were torn over different things and need each other to discover what life could be really. It’s hard road to this discovery but the end is what made this journey worth it.

I enjoyed this read. Chance and Cassidy's story was intense and engaging. My heart bled for Chance. So badly broken on both the inside and out, he truly needed some light to help ease the darkness that consumed him and the form that light took was Cassidy. I liked Cassidy but I did think she did some fairly dumb things and made poor choices. Reguardless, I felt that these two wounded people made a great couple. The storyline is filled with drama, tension, strong emotions, danger and heat. I thought that this was a very good read in a entertaining series. Of my own accord I am posting a truthful review.

I enjoyed this book also. The beginning I had a little problem getting into it but after recovery I was really into it.

This is Chance and Cassidy's book. Chance is the one who is a Navy seal and deployed while Cassidy is a new person in town for a short time.

This is a good series but I would like a bit more club action. Like when Chance asked for something and the president said no because it was personal....yeah and he needed help. There's only two more books left and if not it won't be long to find something else.

Cassidy and chance

This was the book I was waiting for! Chance is a navy seal who got blown into pieces by a missel and lost his team, come to find out the woman he was sleeping with was the bad person and he had to kill her! After being burned he returned home, he meets the songstress Cassidy who is on the run but he doesn’t know why, he offers her $200 dollars to sing at the club which she happily accepts. This book have a lot of twist in it. The only thing I don’t like is grammatical errors.

Another brilliant installment

Chance came back from the war wounded, hurt and bitter. He had to do something that is plaguing his mind and he thinks knows he won't forget. Cassidy is running from her past and the person following her. A Chance meeting and her world changes.

Maybe my favorite

I really enjoy this author and the series can’t wait for the next one. FYI you will lose sleep with kings of Mayhem MC

Chance is my favorite in the series. These are very mild biker romances so do not worry that is gets too dark but it is still steamy.
