Barely escaping the Sky Drifter, Seven finds himself inside an escape pod hurtling toward his native planet: Simia. There, he and the mysterious girl must find their way across an unknown land and seek protection by the Council. New challenges await him when he tries to adjust to the real world and finds his favorite sport, Sphere, banned. Will Seven survive the continued alien attacks? Will he thrive at Laurea academy? Will he uncover his real identity?
Seven has escaped the Sky Drifter with the mysterious girl and is now finally “home” on his native planet, Simia. He never dreamed how different it would be from life on the monstrous spacecraft. How could he not fit in on his home planet? Hasn’t he lost enough already? Now he is expected to “blend in” and become just another student in a world unlike anything he was taught about.
Not only does he not fit in in his new academy, all that he learned is outdated and every step he takes seems to get him in trouble. The only refuge he finds is an underground sports network where his favorite game is played illegally. Who is he exactly and why can’t he fit in? More importantly, who can he trust, and what has been hidden from him? Where will he ever fit in?
Paris Singer’s SIMIA is an adventure in young adult science fiction that blasts past at a rapid pace, stirs up just enough conflict throughout and contains characters that are relatable to young teens everywhere. From their attitudes, their speech and the feelings of frustration and insecurity, Mr. Singer has captured youth in its most raw form in Seven’s character.
A captivating read set in a world of fantasy and science fiction! Definitely another hidden gem from this author!
