Not even when those around me are trying to kill it. With vampire bounty hunters still out for me, having the Grand Coven accuse me of treason against witches is the last thing I need. No one should tell me who I can and cannot love.
Determined not to let anyone or anything get in our way, Lucas and I decide to lay low for a while and let everything blow over with my coven while Lucas hunts for the vampires who tried to kidnap me. But things, of course, don’t go according to plan, and when I stumble upon an ancient evil force hiding out in the underground of Chicago, we realize our forbidden romance is the least of our worries.
As we search for a way to defeat unbeatable odds, I start to discover that things aren’t what they seem…including my very existence.

Call of Night is the third book in Emily Goodwin’s Throne Hill series, and to understand this one you need to have read the prior books. Each book builds upon the last, adding more and more to the world we were introduced to in the first book. With Call of Night, plenty is added to the series and there is plenty opened up for where the series will head in the future.
Although I loved all that was added to the Throne Hill series in this one, I’m going to be honest and say I wasn’t as in love with it as I had hoped to be. There was certainly a lot introduced to the series, plenty of ideas have formed in my mind about what will happen next, but I feel this one didn’t quite pack the punch it could have considering all that was involved. There were times when things seemed to move a bit too slowly for my liking, times where I was expecting more action, which meant I wasn’t quite as crazy about this book as I had hoped to be.
Don’t get me wrong, I had a lot of fun seeing what came next. I simply wish there’d been more action and more shock value when things were revealed. As it was, I enjoyed where the series is taking us, but I wasn’t quite as in love with this book as I could have been.
I certainly need book four, though, to see what comes next!
Meh, I wasn't that impressed with this book. There were a few inconsistencies for me....like how important her coven is to her but then she does the exact thing they forbid her to do. We do get some revelations here about Callie but I think it's time we get to know Lucas more. He's been alive forever and we don't know enough (imo)
Callie and Lucas are BACK and better than ever! Call of Night has been my favorite book in the Thorne Hill Series to date! If you haven’t read Dark of Night and Dead of Night yet you MUST read those first, each book picks up right where the other left off.
Callie and Lucas have a forbidden love. Witches and Vampires aren’t supposed to be together, let alone be in love with each other. They have the ultimate forbidden romance, but they aren’t going to let ANYONE stand in their way of being together. They will do anything to protect one another, even if it means risking their lives so they other one can keep on living.
I was on the edge of my seat throughout this entire book. I was completely sucked into the story and the world of Thorne Hill, witches, vampires, demons, and hunters. I had no idea where this story was going and when I think I’d figure it out the story would go in the opposite direction. It kept me guessing the entire way through and I LOVED every single minute of it.
I LOVE Emily’s writing. Her description of scenes is absolutely fantastic and it really paints a picture in your mind. You feel as if you are part of the story and witnessing everything along with the characters. This story was fully of suspense, drama, a few laughs (drunk Lucas is the BEST), and steaminess (Callie and Lucas have some of the HOTTEST scenes I’ve read recently).
I can’t wait to see where this story continues to go and Callie and Lucas’s relationship continues to progress. After this ending it is going to be a LONG wait until October.
Things are starting to get clearer for Callie now, finding out who the blue eyed man is from her dreams and just what impact that is going to have on her life. Still fighting off Demons and standing up for her self and Lucas with the grand coven , Callie finds there is now a new threat out to kill her.
I don't even know where to begin with this book- but I definitely needed it. It is book 3 in the Thorne Hill series and YES you do need to read book 1 and 2 first. This book follows Callie- who is a powerful witch - immediately after the events of book 2, of Callie being accused of Treason, and being threatened by vampire bounty hunters. It seems both sides are trying to stop Lucas & Callie's relationship- it's against both vampire and witch law for vampires and witches to be friends- let alone date. Witches and Vampires have been sworn enemies for thousands of years. Their forbidden romance can lead to death- but isn't the only threat lurking near by. Callie realizes not everything- including her very existance- is what it seems. I LOVED this book! I loved coming back to Thorne Hill and down right adore these characters! I read this book in one sitting and still want- and need more! I cannot wait to find out what happens next with these characters and in this story. Coming back to Thorne Hill and these beloved characters is like coming home. Callie is a badass witch, and Lucas is a ancient vampire- and it seems they have more threats closing in on every side of them then even they know what to do with. But even with all the threats- nothing will get between Callie and Lucas. Not the vampires, witches or even demons. But this threat may be bigger than all three. I loved every minute of this book, these characters and this story! And cannot wait for more! 5 amazing ⭐ out of 5⭐.
THIS BOOK IS EVERYTHING!!!! Guys, I cannot explain how PERFECT this book is. Lucas and Callie are back and their story is far from over. I was on the edge of my seat completely hooked with this story, just when you think nothing else can go wrong for this amazing couple, they are thrown into another mix.
Lucas and Callie aren't suppose to be together but their love is so fierce and epic that nothing can tear them apart. The way Lucas loves and protects Callie is out of this world romantic, he will not let anyone take her from him. I love seeing him do whatever it takes to make sure Callie isn't hurt nor threatened. Callie is just trying to be happy with the love of her life, but things keep getting in the way.
I loved this book so much, I love this series so much. I never thought I would be so obsessed with a book series like I am with this one. The way it's written is perfection, I wish we could get the first book asap!!! October is so far away.
Call of Night is the 3rd book in the Thorn Hill series and a fabulous addition to the series. It continues right where book one ended and was fast-paced and engrossing. So many question were answered in this novel and so many more came up. The twists and turns would leave you shocked and have you glued to pages of the story. You will not be able to put it down. This novel was paranormal/fantasy at it finest, with Callie and Lucas continuing their forbidden love affair while continuing to fight off demons. They were supported by a cast of secondary characters who provided great balance to the story. This novel was well-written and highly descriptive with suspense, romance, steamy scenes and heart-stopping action. It was a phenomenal page-turner and I would highly recommend it to all lovers of paranormal/fantasy romances.
I was NOT anticipating giving this story five stars when I started reading it. Even at 70% complete, I was still planning on giving this a three star rating, specifically because of the amount of grammatical errors I found in the first half of the book.
I’ve quit reading books in the middle—GOOD books, at that—because of too many grammatical errors, but the fact that I not only continued reading this story to completion, but that at the end of it, I’m STILL giving it a five-star review should be all the information you need about Emily Goodwin’s absolute GENIUS ability to plot a novel.
I hit 80% when I was trying to go to sleep last night. (There’s been MANY nights where I fall asleep reading, this book and others. Not because they’re boring in any way, but just because I want to read MORE and I end up just passing out mid-chapter. Who doesn’t, amiright?) I knew I was getting into the climax section of the story, but I thought I had a pretty good idea of where things were going.
*spoiler alert* I did NOT.
I TORE through chapters 30-33, and when I got to the last word of Chapter 33 (at 3:30am, no less) I sat up in bed, and just stared. I was so dumbfounded that I was going through THAT kind of reveal, and my husband was just sitting at his computer, playing a game like nothing was even happening.
So, of course, I had to fill him in on the absolute genius that led up to this 3:30am epiphany. He’s been privy to my loving sighs at Lucas’ words of adoration, and, c’mon, the sex is PHENOMENAL. So he knew enough about the hold this series has had on me up to this point, but he got a LESSON last night. He got the 4 side-plot backstory that has been interweaved throughout the two previous books, the parallels and symbolism of each, and, of course, my theories on what this means for THE NEXT SIX BOOKS. (Does he remember a word I said? Probably not, but he gets points for being an active listener.)
I finished the final 10% of the book this morning, and I’m still catching myself staring off into the distance, and trying to decipher how some one can weave a story together that’s THAT good. I was so enthralled, that upon completion I immediately sat down and composed an email to the author. Granted, most of it was probably keyboard smashing nonsense of me processing what I’d just read, but I’ve NEVER emailed an author before. And I’d like to point out again—THERE’S STILL SIX MORE BOOKS! And another that’s slated to come out next September (2023)
The last 20% of Call of Night ON IT’S OWN, is enough to warrant reading the first two. And there’s still so much that Emily’s set up for, that I’ve already bought the fourth book and am counting the hours until I can start it uninterrupted!
It’s been a LONG time since a story has done this to me. I can’t remember the last time a story has altered me this way. For me to change a three star rating to five stars in a matter of three chapters, AND immediately emailing the author after completing it? This is a first for me. I’ve NEVER done that before.
I’ll sing Emily Goodwin’s praises until I’m blue in the face—go read Thorne Hill so you can join me!
The storyline for this series had potential. Which is the only reason I continued to read it in the first place. It is poorly written and edited and I should have quit after book one. But I was curious so I will give the writer credit for that. Full disclosure, I did not finish reading this book. I simply couldn't. After the author started calling a character by a different name, I lost interest entirely. It was the last straw for me. How does that even happen!!!??? The characters name was Melinda. I remembered this clearly because that is my name. The author started calling the character Miranda and the error went unnoticed throughout the next two chapters. I stopped reading the book so I'm not sure if the ridiculous mistake continued to be missed by the author and the editor. Some people might consider this an easy mistake but this book hardly has any characters and even the most basic of minds would be able to keep them straight. I was generous with my previous reviews of 3 stars but I have to be brutally honest with this one. Not a great series. I am mad at myself for wasting my time with this series and can only hope that I have better luck with the next one.
Call of Night is the 3rd book in the Thorne Hill series. This book starts off where Dark of Night left off with Callie being tried by the Grand Coven for having told Lucas, a vampire and her lover where the location of the door to her coven is. The crime is punishable by death if found guilty. Witches and Vampires are not to be together because they are enemies but not Callie and Lucas. They are more in love now then ever.
This story took a turn that took a turn I didn’t expect. It seems that everyone wants Callie dead when they find out who she really is and there is a huge cliffhanger.
But I expected that! Book 4 Callie and Lucas’s story continues with Still of Night! It will be out in October. I can’t wait to read it. If you haven’t read books 1 & 2 you do need to read them first.
Call of Night kept my interest throughout the book. I hated to have to put it down to work. You can believe I took every chance I had to read it on my breaks. I am loving this book and series. 5 Stars all the way!!!
I really just don’t have words to describe how much I love this series. I’m an honest book reviewer, if you ever run across other reviews by me, some might even seem a little harsh but I try to be completely honest. I, honestly, do not have one complaint about this series. You will literally get lost in Callie’s world and not want to leave. You will wish that Callie and Lucas, the coven, Thorne Hill was all real, that you could meet them in real life. If I’m just searching for something to nit pick at, the only thing I can say is that I wish Mrs. Goodwin would write a prequel about Callie’s time in the academy because all of her references to her childhood and teenage years just makes me want to read a book about that lol I really can’t find anything I don’t like about this book 🤷🏼♀️ this is my honest review. I read this book for free through Kindle Unlimited.
What an amazing paranormal series. Callie and Lucas are an incredible couple and Callie always seems to find herself in trouble, saving people from demons as she puts herself at risk. There are those in the coven that seem to have a grudge against her which adds to her daily drama. The fact that Callie and Lucas aren’t even supposed to associate, let alone be in love, pushes all the boundaries of the witch, vampire and demon worlds. Now, there are some astounding twists and turns that are revealed in this installment which just give their journey more depth while adding to this incredible paranormal world. I don’t want to give away any of the surprises and boy, was I surprised by a few. For any paranormal romance reader, this is a great universe to dive into and experience. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
This is book three in the series and book one and two are a must read before this one (I promise they are so worth the read).
Book three delivered a story in spades...you have everything from Callie being trouble with the Coven, to Lucas and Callie fighting off demon after demon, to Callie and Lucas between the sheets and Callie finding out who she really is (which will send you mind spinning), and just when you think the book cant get any better, the ending of the book happens and will leave your mouth hanging open and thinking, Really we have to wait till October for the next book.
Loved every page of this book, cannot wait for the next one
My suspicion about Callie is right!!! She & Lucas are back in the mix of chaos & danger while just trying to live their lives! I Vampire Council is getting closer, Witches Council has drawn a line in the sand. Demons are determined to take her - it's getting real scary!!!! Edge of your seat scary! Good thing that the sex between them so hot - Lucas is funny every time he works having sex in nearly every situation!!!
I love this series. I’ve never been much of a paranormal reader, but Emily really did it with this series. Definitely caught my attention and keeps me on my feet. There are a few typos in the book, but nothing major to not understand what the word is suppose to be. I can’t wait to read the next part of this book. October is too far away, but will definitely go with the Halloween theme.
Callie and Lucas are my new favourite team! Callie is wicked in her abilities and doesn’t need anyone to take care of her, but that doesn’t stop Lucas from trying and possibly succeeding. Emily has created a world so real that even 3 books in you want more, you can’t get enough of this story. Frankly I never want it to end - can’t wait for book 4 and hopefully many more after.
#CallofNight is the 3rd book in the #ThorneHill series and in here we get to finally found out what Callie is. The end of 2nd book left us hanging when she was summoned in the coven and have been asked to go on trial. In this book there will be a new threat but this time it's in Chicago which will lead to the clue she's waiting for. Lucas' and Callie's love will still be tested as theirs is forbidden.
These 2 are hilarious together. Eliza is also funny. Another very busy story. I knew what was happening to Callie just because. And the shock that came about with her Blue Eyed Man! I cried when he said what his name was. My husband was also a Michael and I have the Archangel Michael with his ashes hanging from my rear view mirror. A very poignant moment in the story as I always felt my Michael was our Angel. On to the next book #4. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰💜💜💜💜💜😊😊😊😊😊
Wow!!! What a wonderful story! It has lots of action and intrigue which keeps you guessing just what is coming next. This was way different to most vampire books with so much more. I sure didn’t see this ending coming but it really fit. I will gladly recommend this series to my friends and family.
This is the third in the Thorne Hills Series where Callie and Lucas' story continues. We find out more about Callie's past and what she actually is. (Which I was not surprised.) There is one more completed in the series and looks like one more in the works. Debating if I am going to continue reading or not.
This author has tapped into the right combination of suspense, steamy sex and imagination. For those of us who love the paranormal, this series is a must read. I don't normally like just witches or just vampires...but we have both here with more twists and turns, all to make our hearts content!
I love this series! I love Callie and Lucas and cannot get enough of their relationship. Paranormal romance is my favorite genre, and I they are my new favorite couple. I think a lot of couples in books can become almost cringeworthy in the cheesiness and this has none of that, just a great love story and a great couple that I can't wait to keep reading about.
Wow! The couple that slays demons together stay together. I love it! Callie and Lucas are the perfect match but it's also forbidden. I know she doesn't care but it could cost her her powers or even her life. Now that we have a better sense of what she is capable of now it's up to her to figure out who she is and how she is willing to use it. I can't wait! Super exciting!
Loved this book. I’ve been waiting for some some answers to quest raised in the first 2 books and I’m so happy that I got some. I’ve really enjoyed this series. It has just be right amount of everything I look for in a book! Can’t wait for the next one.
I LOVE this story, the characters.... everything!!! I hope that the series goes on for a long time!! I think there’s so many of the characters that warrant their own books in this series OF COURSE in addition to more about callie & lucas!!!
Callies familiars , especially Binx are called upon more than ever to aid in the bloodthirsty fighting that is part of her existence. The blue eyed stranger becomes more involved.
