Horseshoe Bay #1

Under The Same Sky

Rate this book
It’s been nine years since I last saw him, and now he’s back in town.
Thorin Decker.
Front man of Eighteendust, one of the world’s most famous rock bands.
But before his rise to fame, he was the boy I fell in love with, and the boy who broke my heart.
I never expected to see him again, but in a cruel twist of fate, we’ve been tied together in a way neither of us saw coming. If I thought he would be the same boy who left all those years ago, I was dead wrong.
But he’s not the only one who’s changed.
He’ll soon realize the girl he both broke, and saved, no longer exists.
I might have moved on with my life, and let go of our past, but if he thinks a second chance is in the cards, he’s going to have to prove that he’s worth the risk.

I'm a 28 year old Publishing Graduate with a penchant for hot books, cowboys, and off-the-chart-chemistry between the characters I write. In April 2019, I graduated with my Publishing degree, and took a brief writing hiatus to complete my studies. Right now, I'm busy with an Associate's Degree in Graphic Design, and have recently published my newest book, Under The Sake Sky (Horseshoe Bay Series Book 1). I'm still addicted to coffee, reading, and when I'm not writing, or designing all kinds of things in Photoshop, I'm editing romance novels for my clients. In my free time, I can usually be found in bed with my three fur babies, BamBam, Benji and Denver.

I struggled to get past the hero. His reasons for a lot of things were lame at best...and the heroine (who of course had practically no life outside of her work) should have run away with Eli and found a group of people who genuinely cared about her. Even her best friend was a disappointment.

ETA - I changed it from 2 stars down to 1 because the more I thought about it, the more it annoyed me. After everything Reese had been through, you would think she would hold him at arms length and want absolutely no contact other than what was necessary between them. But of course not. Apparently, her past is only used as a means to manipulate the reader and keep everyone except the hero away. When you find yourself rolling your eyes throughout most of what you've read, you know it's not a book (or author) for you.

Bullying - The backstory made me contemptuous of the H and I found nothing redeemable about his character. Thorin and his friends were bystanders to her humiliation allowing his then girlfriend Jessica to continuously defeat his ‘best’ friend.

Her father wasn’t any better because he allowed her mother to denigrate her telling her she was unlovable, starving her for days, calling her names and belittling her appearance, until finally she filed for emancipation from them not without self-harming.

Reese existed in a nightmarish existence and with the exception of Ryan, Thorin’s deceased brother no one defended her.

Thorin was aware that Jessica, his girlfriend taunted her without remorse yet he compounded her treatment with his endless forgotten promises.

Mya, Reese’s best friend and assistant salvaged this train wreck of a ‘romance’.

‘Thorin meet Mya, Karma’s right hand’.

How can they co-parent with that much animosity and resentment between them?

Thorin questioning her father’s intentions is laughable and judgmental since she forgave him and he was equally liable for her unhappiness.

Reese & Thorin were childhood best friends, they shared everything with each other. But that all changed when they started high school, Thorin started to change & the promises he made became less important, leading to them both going their separate ways.

When an unexpected tragedy happens, Reese is the one who has to tell Thorin. It’s been 9 years since they saw each other and there is still so much hurt between them. Will they be able to forgive & move forward with their lives.

Reese & Thorin together had some pretty intense chemistry, they had that forever kind of love that was worth fighting for. Overall I really enjoyed this book & will be begging Tamsyn to write Mya & Fletch story *wink wink*

Under the same Sky by Tamsyn Bester
Reese’s life has not been easy especially with the mother she has. Her escape was to run down the road to Thorin and his family. They were best friends growing up and made promises to each other. Life changed when they went to high school and Thorin forgot his promises. Reese became a shell of a person and was pushed to the very edge until she changed the course of her life. Years later she back in her home town but circumstances have once again dealt her life another blow, one which has Thorin returning and remembering the pain he caused her. Can he ask for her forgiveness and a second chance or has too much damage been done. And more importantly, can Thorin forgive himself for the damage he caused. The chemistry between these characters will have you cheering for them and hoping they can work through the past. Secondary characters will leave you wanting more of their stories. Overall I really enjoyed this sad, sweet and sexy story.

Where do I start? Oh, yeah, this book is AMAZING! Tamsyn is a new to me author but she is now on my must-read, author list! This is a wonderful story about a boy who couldn't see what was right in front of him, coming home to face his past. Thorin is my new favorite book boyfriend, hot, sexy, rock star that he is. Reese is my spirit sister, I want to be her when I grow up! She overcame so much, to become an amazing person that Thorin has no clue what to do with! This story has amazing laughs, gut-wrenching confessions, all the feels, with a Texas feel! Run, don't walk and one click this book now! I promise this is a book you need in your life!

Our childhood and especially our teen years define who we become. Sometimes you get past the heartache and sometimes it sticks with you. Reese and Thorin were best friends throughout their childhood but sometimes High School changes and as one may rise to popularity the other is left behind. Promises are made and promises are broken. Time and miles separate you further.

In the wake of tragedy Reese and Thorin see each other for the first time in years. Can forgiveness be found and is it enough to move forward together? The chemistry between Reese and Thorin has you cheering for them to work through the past and leave it behind. I'll admit I cried, but also laughed. I did not want this book to end, and I'm truly hoping that there will be more as Tamsyn has you not only falling in love with the main characters but the secondary characters as well.

Okay so just got done and wow.. as always Tamsyn doesn't disappoint! I feel like I've been waiting a lifetime for your next book but I also know that you're still only a person like the rest of us and life has a habit of getting in the way 💓
I don't really want to give a lot away as it will ruin your experience but let me just say Reece and Thorin are such a good match!! You can feel their chemistry from the get go and you are just itching for them to reunite.
There's a lot of laughter but also moments where as I was tears! I felt connected to them from the beginning. Perfect read for me. 5 stars 💙
I really hope this is made into a series as I'm already in love with Mya and Fletch too!

* I was given an ARC of this book in an exchange for an honest review *

Wow, She Forgives Him In Seconds, Losing All Drama and Respect. Wow, Narcissists Are Enabled In This Book

Wow this wet blanket was supposed to have fucking grown a pair of balls.

But Thorin never has to feel bad for what he's done.

I mean, he will TELL you he 'feels bad' but then he will snuggle with two random brunettes, nibbling his ear because hes still a sexist cunt.

And Reese well she doesn't grow, she just goes back to being his pathetic little people pleaser.

Bitch was driven to suicide by this basterd and he is forgiven immediately.

Because of Ableism and Sexism.

So sick of this Daddy Dick Me so more and throw me inside the locker one more time, tripe.

There can be no forgiveness without truth.

Thats just gaslighting.

Gross.

Suicide survivors deserve better than this Pathetich bitch.

Fantastic Read

Tamsyn.... One word. WOW!!!

I could not for one moment put this book down until I read to the very last word. I was drawn in by Reese and her pain because I can relate. I fell in love with Thorin, he is I think what we all desire. Someone to love us unconditionally and enough romance to make us swoon. Your writing has always been good but this book I felt your soul. Thank you for showing us as your readers that. I can not wait for whatever you write next. I am sad to have left the ranch and come back to my life.

Holy cow! ALL the feels! I laughed, I cried but most of all, I simply enjoyed this story!

Reese and Thorin have issues to sort out. Real life has a way of making us face those issues, so reading Reese and Thorin's story was a blessing. Our relationships are what make our lives worth living - it's not what we have, but WHO we have that makes life rich and fulfilling.

Ms Bester has crafted a story of love with real characters and I highly recommend this story for anyone who loves a romance with an HEA.

High NA friends to lovers thrope is not my favorite. I usually steer clear of them. But this year is a bad year for romance books and I cannot watch netflix without sound through the night.

There is nothing new to the story. However, I liked the author’s style of telling it. It has nice enough amount of back story just to highlight the events without going overboard. I also liked that she didn’t just tell it after the fact but let you be in it.

Looking forward to the next book. Hopefully, soon.

Brought out all my emotions…..

It took me a little to give this book a chance but I’m so glad I did. The heartbreak n emotional ride Reese went on through her early years n the way Thorin was back then I didn’t think I would ever forgive or accept him a good guy. But in the end he proved me wrong n I fell in love with the Thorin and Reese and all the side characters. Can’t wait to rage read next book in series as I love Mya and can’t wait to see Fletch redeem himself……

Happy I found it

This new to me author had me clicking on pre ordering the next book as soon as I saw it.
This is a second chance romance with found family and a gut wrenching story. The MMC and the FMC were best friends since they were little, and man, does he ruin the friendship. A tragedy brings them back together, and we watch them slowly get back together. Good characters, and the story flows well. Definitely worth a read.

Umm why hasn’t this book been given more attention??

While it could probably go through a decent round at the editors for typos & grammatical errors the story sucked my in instantly & I read it in one sitting.
I feel like only one lose end was left open, or maybe the the tying off of it just wasn’t sufficient enough but besides that it was a great book!
