Twenty-eight-year-old Lilly Rains would settle for - no, embrace - the idea of Purgatory as atonement for her sins. The newly assigned parish priest has conjured less than righteous thoughts, forcing Lilly to question her sanity for being attracted to a man of the cloth and more importantly, whether she can perform her job as the principal of St. Robert’s Catholic School.

But the handsome and mysterious priest is not what he seems. He has been sent to retrieve Lilly’s wavering soul, preying on a faith that has been rattled by her past. But where there is darkness, there must also be light and God has decided it is time to intervene. A Guardian has been assigned to protect Lilly from the evil surrounding her. However, when the priest and the Guardian begin to pursue her for their own purposes, Lilly is left with an impossible decision.

Will she choose the forbidden man she loves or the Guardian who will be eternally devoted to her?

At first, I passed up on reading this one because I misread the blurb.  I thought this was a priest abandoning his vows story and I avoid those. Luckily, I saw the blurb again, read it correctly this time and decided to give it a whirl.  I'm so glad I did.  Into Temptation is an angels and demons read along the lines of Dan Brown but with romance included.    Lily is the principal of St. Robert's Catholic School.  She is good at her job and well liked.  Lily, however, is a bit of a loner who just doesn't seem to know how to connect with people.   When the parish priest has to step down, Father William Moretti is assigned to take over, except the Church and God has nothing to do with the demon Moretti and why he has come to St. Robert's.

This is a story about good versus evil, light versus darkness. Told is revolving points of view, you get to see all the players in the game to win Lily's soul.  From William's thoughts as a Collector to friend Thomas' need to protect, to Lily's own personal battle to do what's right while still going with her heart ~ all the machinations keep the pace taut and the romance adds a bittersweet tang. Ms. Keating tale of humans who give up their faith and those who hold it close has twists and turns that make for an engrossing read.  Spiritual without preaching, she has woven a story that has intense action, heartbreak, secrets, and lies all culminating in a showdown that will have you turning the pages quickly to learn the truth of who is who and who will be standing in the end.

This should be on your summer reading list.

I love picking up books that have some sort of religious aspect to it. Not because I am super religious, because I am not - not even close. I just find them interesting, and they fall into the "outside the box" aspect that I enjoy when it comes to romance books.

This book by Elle is told from multiple POVs, I rather liked that she wrote it that way. Lily was a great character, I loved watching her wrestle with trying to do what was right but staying with what her heart wanted. There is lots of action, plenty of secrets and lies, and so much more. This book was not preachy, which is something that I want when it comes to these types of books. The battle between good vs evil is enough to make this a book that you want to finish, and possibly can't put down.

I'm looking forward to checking out more from this author.

Into Temptation was not what I expected. I didn’t expect to feel what I did for Lilly, Thomas, and William. There were so many emotions that I couldn’t comprehend them.

There are so many layers of good and evil in this book. Of course I wanted good to win but I will say that there will be times you’ll question who is truly evil. I love that it happens because you know the plot is solid. You know that the characters are making you question yourself and your feelings.

The steamy scenes were done well enough. I will see the last of the hot and heavy scenes were my favorite. The first real sexy scene we got felt very matter of fact and didn’t have the care taken to it that the last one did. Maybe that was the author’s intention but it just didn’t settle right with me, especially with Lilly being who she is as a character.

Do I like this book? I do. I don’t love it but I liked it a lot. The religious touches were done well and I can tell that Elle Keating did a lot of research and took a lot of care to write the story. I’m definitely curious about the next book coming out in this series.
