"Something old, Something new, Something that's come back from my past to bite me."

While stepping into her new life in California, bride-to-be, Kathlyn runs into her ex-boyfriend, Simon. Given their history, bumping into him leaves a bad taste in her mouth and she worries she'll only run into him again while staying in the same city. Things take a turn for the worst when Simon turns out to be someone she never expected him to be. He'd been closer to her than she thought. Huge truths are revealed, but not about the sorrowful past she digs through as she searches for the closure she always needed. Closure is the last thing she gets in the end.

In my worst nightmare, I'm on a plane. No, it doesn't crash and nothing gets caught in the engine mid-flight. There’s no terrorists on board, nor is there a terrifying emergency landing (although I wish there was). The flight itself is actually lovely and I was happy before I got on board. I was on my way to one of my favorite destinations where I'm going to be living with the man of my dreams. My life is ascending into a place I never want to come down from. And then Simon crash lands back into my life and he's got a stowaway: everything I ever ran from.

Sooooo cute!

Okay, so this story is centered around Kathlyn who is this social media/travel mogul. She's on her way to California and during her flight, she's sat next to Simon, the ex she has a painful past with. I was hooked from there. I felt like the flow of the story was perfect. I didn't get bored or find myself skimming through pages and I would have made it a one sitting read if it wasn't for work, but it's a short and cute story with quite a twist at the end. I almost wish it were a little longer.
Epilogue gives you that HEA you'd been rooting for the entire story, which is nice.

I liked the added symbolisms, the little dashes of scandal, and the fact that the story isn't overtly sexual, though you do get a few moments of sex that Kathlyn regrets both times. Frustrating.
The characters were so adorable. And even though there were times where I didn't really like Kathlyn's decisions, I LOVED Simon so it made up for my frustrations with her.
Definitely recommend picking this up when it releases (June) if you like lovers to haters to lovers again type books.

Very surprising, twisted and adventurous

This book was quite exciting to read because I have never read such stories before. A bride theme never made me curious but the beginning of this story caught me instantly. The plane and two ex lovers. What else can be more exciting than this?
Katherine is a really bada*s woman but Simon was a sweet guy mostly time. I was sure they will be together because the gravity between them and past they had was undeniable! And Kate's fiancee was an awful guy and person. However I was very surprised how he changed. He stopped to be... You know.
I laughed when read some scenes, especially, how Katherine's gave a birth and swore at Simon. But I can imagine this process cannot be funny in reality.
The hea made me feel happy. 😍
Cannot wait to read the second book! 👏📚

Short, sweet read.

This is a second chance novel and although I'm not really a fan of second chance stories this one was pretty original. I thought it was going to go one way and was happy that it didn't because then it would have been too predictable.

Kathlyn is this full of herself, wannabe icon. Idk maybe that was just my impression. Because of that I went back and forth on liking her. she was annoying and I couldn't really understand why she hated Simon so much even though the flashbacks give us some back story to what happened and why they broke up. That was the only thing that was kind of like ???? like he's so sweet why do you hate him when your man literally can't even bring himself to your cake tasting?
Evelyn and Ashlyn were funny at times and I liked the family aspect they brought to the story. They were supportive no matter what she did, and in their own ways. even when she didn't make any sense. James was super full of himself too (no wonder they attracted) but I feel like he didn't have a lot of character development. He wasn't in a lot of the scenes, mostly just mentioned.
I wasn't expecting the twist at the end, but when I thought about it afterwards I realized it was hinted at throughout so it's not super surprising.
all in all I liked the story. it isn't too long and doesn't drag on. it gets straight to the point and doesn't leave ANY questions left over with a happily ever after ending so you aren't left with the dread of a cliff hanger or anything. Recommend read.

I’m a sucker for a wedding tale, so when the author reached out to me and offered a copy of her novella, I was all game.
Kathlyn’s had a tough couple of years until she gets into a rushed engagement with insta-famous James Bailey who their fans had shipped into a relationship in the first place.
It’s clear from the start that things aren’t all that they seem and although Kathlyn puts on a smile and acts as if she’s happy with her new life that has her constantly in the air, that’s proven to be far from true once she’s sat next to Simon, her super serious ex boyfriend, on the plane ride to California where she’ll be wed only two weeks later.

Okay, so spoilers!!!!!!!!!!

I mean, maybe it’s just me but it wasn’t that big of a surprise that Simon ended up being James best man? I guessed it and even though I’m sure it was supposed to be a big shock factor lol but guessing it didn’t stop me from enjoying the story. There was a lot of humor in the story at times, some ridiculous antics that a James goes through alongside Kathlyn’s sisters who are also funny characters, while they all try to stop her from marrying James.
The second bomb drop was kind of unexpected, but also seemed like a random cop out to prove that James is a bad guy. Again, maybe just my opinion.
I liked the story and thought it was a good first book for this author and also thank her for giving me the chance to review her awesome book.

I find Katherine a little to conceited. Simon is on is own way a sweetheart. Storyline is ok but not that surprising

This was a cute read.
It’s not my typical romance genre, but I was able to finish it. I liked the premise, Kathlyn running into her ex on the plane. I mean it wast realistic, but hey it’s fiction.
I did wish there was more of a connection between Simon and Kathlyn, but there just wasn’t for me and the steam/chemistry was relatively tame. A little too tame for me.
The writing was decent for this being this authors first book, and I do look forward to seeing what else she will be writing in the future.

A quick but engaging read. I love the author’s writing style, and how she combines thought-provoking issues with a fast-paced second-chance love story. The two main characters, Kath and Simon, are both flawed, and while sometimes both incredibly frustrating (Kath especially), they seem all the more real for it. Looking forward to more from this author!
