I Pray Book 9 is Here REAL Soon!!! ☺
(Quick afterthought...I intended for this review to be no longer than a few sentences - max - but this series is just THAT DARN GOOD! It's one of those situations where I want to tell ANYONE who will listen all about "this unbelievable book that I am in the middle of." )
Please tell me, that by some miracle, Green Fields book 9 will be out this year!?! One or two of the other books in this series ended with a cliffhanger, but never quite like this! Plus, not to mention the fact that when I reached that cliffhanger in the other books I just moved on to the next installment, never missing a beat.
I have to admit that "Catharsis" wasn't quite as action packed as the previous books, and a few conversations (though informative and often good for a giggle or two) seemed to drag on for a while. I have a feeling, though, that it was a precursor to prepare us for the intense, down-right insane fight that lies ahead for Bree and the gang in the next book that is yet to come. I'm pretty sure that book 9 will be by far the best installment in this series; and that's saying a lot since Green Fields books 1-8 were downright amazing! Plus, we found out a few tidbits from various characters' pasts that filled in some rather large holes here and there. Especially juicy were the details pertaining to the downfall of Nate and "Bucky."
I've read MANY zombies novels over the years, but never has their journey through the apocalypse taken them to a completely different continent half-way across the world. Let's face it, in most cases it takes a person 6-months to a year just to find their way home to their families - across a single country! I guess you could say that is what separates this series from the others - the characters go further, and the situations they get themselves into are even bigger and badder than the rest!
I feel like I am rambling on at this point. So, all I am really trying to say is...Adrienne Lecter is a gifted, talented author; and her Green Fields series is well worth your time. If you like the zombie apocalypse genre you will love this series. I am pretty sure, like me, you will have a hard time putting the book down once you get started, no matter what chore or activity is beckoning to you. Although, as with most series, I suggest you of course start with the first book.
Last but not least, there is gore, there is violence, and at times a few harsh words - this genre is not for those with weak stomachs - but it's far from the most disgustingly ruthless book I have ever read. Therefore, I personally would let my teenager read it without objection. Younger children, probably not a good idea...but I'm guessing that that's a given. :)
Thanks for doing what you do Adrienne! I can't wait to see what you come up with next!!!
