Musical genius. Bloodthirsty monster. I was both, sometimes one more than the other. The bloodthirst was my curse. Songwriting was my joy. I hated what I was, so I shut myself away from the world and embraced darkness. It worked fine for nearly a hundred years. But it seemed the world was no longer content to let me be a recluse selling my songs from the shadows. They demanded I step into the light and join the land of the living.
CELESTA
College student. Orphan. I was one, then the other. Tragedy snatched everything from me and left me with so many questions. So, I devised a dangerous plan to sell the only thing of value I had left, myself, to a vampire. All in order to uncover the truth. I was leaving one nightmare for another to overcome my misfortune.
Can a monster turn into her dream come true? Can a mere girl inspire new melodies for a world-renowned lyricist?
Music is like a dream. One that I cannot hear. — Ludwig van Beethoven
What a fabulous sexy sensual take on a vampire romance!! I simply adore tevon!!! He is a uber, brooding hero and reminds me of the dark hero's I came to love when I started reading gothic romances as a young girl. He has a commanding presence and it adds to his overall appeal factor for me. And celesta though innocent and sweet, is a strong female lead who isn't afraid of her feelings or the sexual attraction that she has for tevon. The steam factor is just right for the start of this new relationship and it's starting to build hotter and I got a feeling it's gonna be a scorcher by the time these two come together. Charli B.Rose is also a great storyteller and I love this new fresh take on this vampire paranormal romance,it's a great modern up to date world were vampires have not only thrived, but are fitting into the social media world as well. Tevon and celesta's story continues in Blood Song: Refrain (Blood Song Series Book 2) out in September!!! I can't wait!! Until next time luv's💖💋
SERIOUSLY, HOW CAN THIS BE THAT GOOD?!?! I was so excited to start reading this book because honestly, Beats of the Heart, was a series that I was obsessed with and I just needed more from this author!
This is a Paranormal Romance book about vampires! What I loved when I first started reading is that this isn't your typical vampire story. In this book, the world accepts vampires, and human and vampires live amongst one another. So I loved how it wasn't some mysterious plot where that human never met a vampire and gets all freaked out.
I couldn't put this book down and I'm waiting and counting down the days for book 2! I need more Toven!!! He is just so steamy and sexy GAAAHHH!
DNF at 5%!! Ok authors, please do me a favor. If you want to have a playlist, COOL. Love it. If you put the playlist songs IN the narrative, you’ve dragged me out of the story and lost my attention and interest.
In a scene set in the 1800s the MMC says something to the effect of “she was a witchy woman” and I F YOU NOT the author BREAKS BETWEEN PARAGRAPHS to have a LINK to WITCHY WOMAN by THE EAGLES.
I tried, I really did, and I support artists crafting books as they see fit. But A) after two song interruptions I was knocked so far out of the story I couldn’t return and B) WILL MY READING DROUGHT NEVER END?? 😢😢😢
Ive read a few paranormal/fantasy books but this one...WOW!! I’m still reeling from the hangover. Charli B Rose’s take on Vampires and how they counteract with humans is very HOT, yet Romantic as well. The relationship between Toven and Celesta is off-the-charts intense and makes me feel for them both in different ways. I seriously can’t wait to find out how they work through the challenges of their pasts (especially Toven) and if he can accept his feelings for Celesta and stop pushing her away. This is the first book in a trilogy and sets the scene for what’s to come. Can you say cliffhanger? Cause you’d be right. This book ends with one and let me tell ya, its a doozy. Thankfully we wont have to wait long for the next book so thats a definite plus.
Happy Reading Everyone 🖤
Oh and I recieved an early copy of this book for my honest review. And I can honestly say I recommend everyone giving this book a try, especially if your a fan of paranormal. .
I’m not a paranormal romance reader. I mean I think the only paranormal books I’ve actually read was Twilight... and the occasional fan fic that contained my OTP 😉
So I’m not well versed on the supernatural/paranormal worldview in that I don’t know how authors build their worlds, so I don’t know how Blood Song differs to the many PNR books out there, except for my limited knowledge.
Besides all that, Toven’s character was beautiful described and the way that Charli built the world that he and Celesta live in was brilliantly thought out. I enjoyed the fact that vampires are accepted and praised rather than forced into hiding. How she wove Toven’s songwriting career into the past of the world, such as Beethoven, Marilyn Monroe to even the band Train.
Again, Charli has woven songs into the story like she did with her Lyrical Odyssey series that captured me from book one last year. It adds a whole other level of enjoyment to the reading experience and I love that.
Cannot wait for the second book to come out so we can learn more about Celesta and Toven ❤️
I do not read paranormal books I just can't get into them. But I quite enjoyed this story Toven and Celesta had chemsity and I was surprised I enjoyed it. The author does a great job at holding your attention. I look forward to the next book.
4.5 - I so wish I had waited to read this until after 9/15/19 when book 2 comes out! This book ends on a huge cliffhanger and now I am going to have to try to wait patiently for 2 weeks. I love Toven and Celesta and I really look forward to seeing their story continue.
The story sucks you in almost immediately. I fell in love with Toven and Celesta . They have an electric chemistry together. I am anxiously awaiting books 2 and 3. I highly recommend.
I loved Chari's books about Dawson and Izzy, this book is totally different in theme, but absolutely amazing. Based in a world where vamipres and humans can coexist, makes you wonder who's really lurking in our world. You get the two main characters POVs, which I love because you get to see what they each think of their situation.
Toven Adams is a musician, he's also a vamp, a vamp in need of upping his game to get his music out there. He gives in going the elite B.I.T-10 to hire the right woman fo the job. Never in his wildest dreams did he think it would lead him to Celesta. She's a temptation that really hard to exist, but it appears Toven has a heart.
Celesta Winston is broke, down on her luck, and out to uncover the facts and the truth behind her father's death. All roads seem to lead to someone at B.I.T-10, but they also lead to the handsome Toven who she's smitten with upon first glance. Time to pull up her big girl panties and step-up to get what she needs. She never imagined she'd have feelings so strong for a vampire.
Will they both get more than they ever thought they needed?
Or will it all backfire and end in tears?
I can't wait to see what happens next in Blood Song: Refrain
I loved this book. Toven is everything I want in a vampire: broody, mysterious, handsome, tortured. A recluse in his beautiful mansion, living only for his music, he yearns for more but has no idea how to relate to the modern world. Enter Celesta, an innocent human dealing with tragedy and seeking answers to her father's death, and his world turns on its axis. The chemistry between these two characters is instantaneous. Both carry secrets which hinder their ability to be honest about their interest in one another. This story is full of secrets, some of which we learn as we read, but some I can only infer about which tear me up. This is a slow burn novel. I loved this idea of vampires hiding in plain sight in this world. It is a refreshing take on a frequently used theme (vampires), that kept me from putting the book down. I cannot wait to see where the next book takes these two seemingly star crossed loves. Will time run out? Will the secrets destroy a budding relationship? What happens next? I need to know. A great story.
I enjoyed reading this paranormal romance, the relationship between vampire and human was intriguing and pulls you in. Toven interested in music, has been around a while and going through the motions until a random bump into a stranger, Celesta. Celesta has been through some things and trying to figure out the truth, she takes a job that will hopefully put her in the right direction to find it. Toven and Celesta have instant chemistry and a connection that is hard to deny. This story takes you on a whirlwind journey of Toven being awaken and Celesta opening herself up. The use of music by Charli B. Rose in this story adds another element and brings the story to life. I cannot wait for the second part that comes out soon, but not soon enough. Definitely take the chance on Toven and Celesta, you want be disappointed.
Blood Song: Prelude is a fresh take on an old story. It's book one of the Blood Song series. I occasionally read paranormal romance and was awed by this powerful, romantic first paranormal novel. Book two will hopefully showcase the growing attachment of the two main characters. I can't wait to see if their undeniable chemistry and physical attraction will overcome their differences and transform Celesta and Toven's troubling relationship into the beautiful love story they deserve.
I was given an advance reader copy of this book, and am voluntarily offering my honest opinion. I loved it, so much so that I bought the book.
My first love in reading has always been a vampire! I love them and have always been drawn to them. This book was beautifully written and told a story full of heart, love, pain, scorching heat and so many close calls that I need several cold showers. I love the slow burn. The way he wars with himself and I love how our beautiful Celesta takes steps in finding herself and opening up. I am so excited to read the next one to see what happens. There are a lot of things in play and I can’t wait to see how they all come to fruition
First let me say that I was offered this book as review reader, but I found that I had already purchased but not read. Well obviously I now have read this great story and as soon as I get done with my review I'm off for the next book in the series! Thank you Charlie B. Rose for introducing me to celesta and Troven. I can't wait to see what happens with them next.
I love Toven and Celesta’s story! Their chemistry is off the charts! They have to have an HEA! I’m ready to do away with Lydia and Cassandra myself to insure their happiness. This book will grip you and hold you spellbound! I’m off to the next book!! A must read series!
This is a first book in a three book trilogy and OMG it is Amazing. I don’t read much paranormal romance but this one is very well written and draws you in from the first word till the last. Can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
I loved this book. You have a life hardened vampire Toven and a inexperienced but smart and beautiful Celesta. Each character is so well written you feel as if you are there with them! Her blood sings to him. I cannot wait till book two! Well done!
I love vampire books....this one was really good...the chemistry between these 2 is out of this world!!! I am downloading 2nd book now!! This is a must read...
A delicious story. A mix of twilight, the vampire diaries, the hunger games, and Fifty Shades (minus the BDSM) all in one. Great characters, story, music, and more! Relatable and modern.
I received an advanced copy of this manuscript and am voluntarily leaving an honest review. Toven thinks he's lost because of his past and how he became a monster he thinks he is because of how he became a vampire and how that haunts him but Celeste doesn't see him that way she see his a person now the monster he believes he is she sees past it even though she has her own daemons she's trying to get past at the same time but the more time she spends with him she's putting her daemons on the back burner to help him see he is no monster
Toven is a musical genius who is turned into a vampire in the 1800’s. Now that vampires are mainstream, he’s a famous composer. When he needs to market himself to sell his songs, he buys a companion to help him with that.
Celesta is trying to unravel the mystery of why her father committed suicide after what looks like getting caught embezzling. She becomes a companion to make money to finish school and find out what really happened to her father.
Toven and Celesta have crazy hot chemistry. This does end on a cliffhanger. Excellent writing and story, can’t wait to read the next part if their story.
Musician Toven is a vampire who was turned hundreds of years ago. In the modern world the self-made billionaire needs help with the social aspect of his music business. Celesta is out to avenge the death of her father so she chooses to be a female escort in the vampire world. When they meet sparks fly! - The book is well-written but what I have a problem with is nothing happened! They want to be with each other but both are holding back, so the book is just the two of them circling around each other like a couple of sex-starved vultures! And Celesta’s character seemed to contradict & change frequently from a demure virgin one minute to a man-hungry temptress the next. Toven seems to have no problem slaking his male appetite (sexually or otherwise) with others but where Celesta’s concerned? Nope, he practically makes her beg for it. Plus, I do get a little irritated with these stories where both the male & female characters are supposedly so amazingly gorgeous that everyone else in the book wants to be with them. And, the story ended abruptly as it directly follows on into the next book. So for me, in a nutshell, book one was way too long, much too drawn out and a bit disappointing.
