Super cute YA romance. The whole storyline happens in a short time frame so I can see some readers not quite believing how fast the two main characters fall for each other. But, you know, young love. If you're around teenagers then you know how fast they can fall for each other. But, with that being said, I still really enjoyed it and thought that the way the author portrayed the relationship was well done.

Brielle and Jet were two characters who came from completely different backgrounds. But they were still two people who had struggles, insecurities, sorrows, a desire to feel needed and wanted. I think how the author portrayed that and showed that people are basically all the same, we need to feel loved and cared for and we all experience struggles in our lives, even if it looks like everything is peachy keen on the outside there are still struggles and sorrows.

There were a couple hard family situations portrayed in this book but again, I thought the author did a good job handling the sensitivity of those situations.

I read through this one pretty fast and had a few laughs and smiles while reading. One I'll be sharing with my teenage daughters.

Content: Clean. There are some family issues portrayed but not in a graphic well. The teenagers go to a bar to hang out. Which it seemed like it was a clean bar for teens and not an adult bar, or a bar that serves alcohol but I thought it was interesting that the author chose to have them go to a bar when they were underage. Wondering why she didn't portray it as something else, although she was trying to portray it as the "other side of town" hangout area. The other thing was the two main characters spend a night together. It is done clean and "no shenanigans" (as the mother would say), there was nothing more than some kisses and talking portrayed. Not something I agree with but it was written clean and the two main characters were good kids.

I received a copy from the author. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.

Happy Reading!!!

3⭐️ this book felt like it was set over a period of a week or two at least and in reality it was 2 days😭it was a bit unrealistic for them to literally fall in love in basically one, so it all just felt a little fake in my opinion

3/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️

It’s the typical story of the misunderstood bad boy that falls for the pretty rich girl, but in a shorter version.

It seem that the more books of the series you read, the characters fall in love in shorter amount of time. It was an okay story, enjoyable and really short. Like I said before, bad boys are my guilty pleasure and sometimes I demand too much of the story or the character to really say that it was good. This was the case and it didn’t made me love it like crazy. I kinda expect more actions, more passion. But this books are really cute and innocent, but what you read is what you get.

Overall I like it, the dynamic between Brielle and Jet was good, but the period of time that they had to fall for each other was surreal. 24 hours, for real? I don’t think that happens in real life, or maybe it does. But it was cute and okay.

Cute

3.5 stars, rounding up
This was cute. A bit unbelievable, but cute. The whole story takes place in about 24 hours and a lot of things happen. The author did a good job of stretching those moments out to make me feel like time was moving slower. Young, high school age romance.

You can trust the bad boy

https://ladiikeiii.wordpress.com/2019...

••••Spoilers; but not that many, no!***•••

Okay, this book was good; I was glad that Jet gave Brielle the experience that she truly needed because her parents were horrible. I always say being rich is not always a happy life because often people with a lot of money think people less money is beneath them..... that was definitely Brielle parents; until they learn actually to start caring more for Brielle and let her run; her own life instead of controlling it for her. If it wasn’t for her meeting Jet; I think she would’ve spent that tome with Stefano or whatever his name is that don’t care to remember.

Jet; was good for her, and she was good for him. Also; I knew that Jasmine girl was going to be horrible soon as they started singing that song “The Boy is Mine” by Brandy and Monica... I was like yup; Brielle should’ve seen that coming when the girl started talking to her in the bathroom. Never trust someone when it comes to their ex; because often if she still wants him, she coming after you.

But in the end, Brielle was the one who gotten Jett! & her parents learn to like him as Brielle did, which was a good thing.

Definitely not the worst book in the series, but also not the best. I don’t think I cringed too much during the audiobook, which is good. However, it is another book where the main character is a goodie two shoes, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but when every single main character in this series is the same character in a different font, it starts to get boring and repetitive. Not to mention that this specific character definitely gives off “I’m not like other girls” energy and it just doesn’t tickle my fancy. Also this whole entire book takes place in almost a singular day and I just find that absolutely insane. I also predicted the ending, which isn’t my favorite thing either because I love being shocked with a super big plot twist at the end. But it’s okay because it’s a romance novel, not a thriller or anything. However, what definitely did not sit right with me is how the first poc character in the whole entire series is in this book and she’s painted in a bad light. I really hope that in the future books there will be a poc character that’s maybe the love interest or the main character’s best friend, not someone who antagonizes the main character.

Of all the readings in this series I liked the least.
Their relationship felt forced and nothing credible. It would have been better to raise the summer to fall in love, not a weekend.
The acceptance of the relationship by the parents did not feel genuine and it is not that Bielle got a change in their attitude towards their way of treating it.
A story with an ending too open for my liking.

Honestly very cute, I really enjoyed it, yes if they were older I would not think the timeline would seem reasonable but when you're younger you fall in and out of love quite a bit so I'm still okay with it, and they were just in general really sweet

This is another fast read in Rules of Love series. Brielle is home for the summer and her parents surprise her with an unfair demand. She’s going to have to go to Italy and date a fellow businessman’s son. Brielle rebels and takes off with a bad boy, Jet, on his motorcycle. If you enjoy sweet, clean romance, you will enjoy Anne-Marie’s books. Grab your copy and see what happens. I really enjoyed the last part of this book.

I received an advance reader copy of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review.

Rule #5

This book was okay. However, I wish the story was more developed. I mean I feel like this book had so much potential and I have really enjoyed this series. It really could have been an excellent read however it fell short. I would have liked to see more struggle in Jets home life, more conflict and romance, and finally a strong solid ending. However, It came out like just a basic read nothing really setting it apart. I would give this book a 3.5 it just didn’t hit the mark with me.

3.5⭐ Cute, but a little bit rushed. I love this series - they are so cute and fresh. This story didn't click for me though. I'm not a fan of quick falling in love - I need some time for deep feeling to develop. So Brielle and Jet's story was somehow rushed for me, everything happens in the span of 24 hours. Although the reader had a glimpse of their character through different situations, I wanted more. Still it was cute YA/NA romance and had a HEA ending of course. 😁

I liked this book and I liked the authors writing. Both MC were likable and I could crank the book out on audio. I feel like more communication could have happened with Brielle, but heck they are teenagers. Before you read this book you need to remember that teenagers can fall fast and hard into love. But that doesn’t make their feelings any less valid. The parents were of course horrible for both children. So that made me sad. But I loved Jets sibling love. It was cool to see that every single person in this word has trials. Both the poorest of the poor or the richest of the rich. They are just different trials. Just know that before criticizing or judging. It was good for both MC to be able to get the others perspective and see that this is true. They were from opposite economic worlds but they could still have empathy and support each other. They could take the strengths and weaknesses from both their families and learn from them. And just take the good from both their lives. Cute short teenage (but not in a highschool setting) clean romance with no swearing.

SPOILERS and book notes:
It would be hard when you are Uber rich to know if people are genuine with you or not. Jet carves wood as a hobby! Cool! And he rides a motor cycle. they met in the alley way and for him to escape security of course they had to kiss hehe. And then she followed him to his motorcycle. she asked him to take her with him and show her Atlanta for the weekend. But he wouldn’t. Unless she paid him 1000 dollars. He took her right to the bank Bahah. It’s so interesting to see this super rich girl enter the world of the lowest income. Jet Bailing his friend crew from a mob boss with money. There are trials and problems in every single persons life rich or poor. They are just different. That is the lesson here. And it’s a good skill to be able too see that. It’s cool that they could walk in each others shoes and notice that. It’s so cute when jet and brielle babysit his little sister. They battle with tinfoil swords and shields. And this rich girl loooves it. The things you take for granted! And I love he is teaching her how to cook! And that she is genuinely grateful. She isn’t the spoiled brat he thought her to be. Oh jet. He protects his sisters from their drunk dad. He gets beat up. And all she wants is to not feel lonely and to feel loved. So even if he is beaten and she is taking care of his wounds, he hugs her! And comforts her! This is a classic ya book with instant falling in love (with in HOURS of knowing each other). And then she escapes to the bathroom every time she thinks she can’t have him. Then the classic if she would literally just TALK to him then all the problems could go away haha. But she would rather suffer than have him turn him down haha. And she feels like she has to sacrifice herself for his family haha. They admitted that they fell in love with each other. Soul mates. Just bc teenagers fall fast and hard doesn’t make their feelings not valid. Hea.

I listened to this book as an audiobook.

Story: 2.5 stars

I think teenage girls will love this story and since they are the intended audience, this is a success. It might be time for me to stop reading YA because, although our main characters sounded truly and authentically like teenagers, I couldn't take the angst. And the insta-love. My apologies to the author because it was clean and romantic when we weren't bogged down in inner-dialogues. I really liked the premise, but that it all happened in a day pushed the boundaries of believable for me. The main girl and boy are really likable teenagers, quite responsible, etc. and I really enjoyed watching their characters unfold and break away from the stereotypes they were perceived as. I was definitely cheering them on. I guess the love and the resolution just happened too fast and with such quick acceptance by parents (who suddenly changed character?) that I couldn't enter into the fantasy of it all.

Narration: 4 stars

Ms. Krane is an excellent narrator. Her pacing, inflections and expression are all very well done. Her male voices are deep enough to be believable without sounding strained. I'd happily listen to her again.

I am not a fan of insta/love at first sight. But I do enjoy a forced proximity trope. This book had both of them and, in my opinion, forced proximity won out. I enjoyed Brielle. I don’t normally like the rich girl trope but Brielle was not your typical rich girl. She was placed in a situation not of her creation and trying her best to deal with it.
I did not find her annoying. I found her surprisingly down to earth and easy to like. I connected with the character.
What I love about this author is all of her main characters have a story and she does her best to make sure that story comes through so the reader gets to know who that character is.
Jet was the bad boy but it was clear crom the beginning it wasn’t because of his own making. Like Brielle, the circumstances were not of his own making and the author made sure the reader knew that.
I do feel like this book would have benefitted from being a touch longer. But I did enjoy reading it. It was a fast read taking only a couple hours to read.

Jet is described as a bad boy but his behavior is anything but. Well, accept the initial kiss, the friends he hangs out with, and spending the night wrapped in Brielle’s arms the first night. He seems to be a misunderstood young man that has a difficult life with a drunkard as a father.
Jet and Brielle end up together for a weekend after Brielle gets upset with her parents. They are trying to match her up and send her to Italy for the summer to help seal a business deal. Jet and Brielle have instant chemistry even though they know they can’t be together. They make a cute couple regardless. My only complaint is that Brielle thinks that she has to go to Italy to help Jet’s family have a better life. No matter what kind of business deal there are going to be people that gain and people that suffer. But Brielle is young so I guess that is likely how a teenager would react.

"A Good Storyline, A Great Lesson"

Rule# 5: You Can't Trust the Bad Boy, was a good book, with a decent storyline, but at moments it seem to drop, and lost it's gusto. I really thought it had room to take off and make a great recovery but it continued to have some pitfalls.

The narrator Liz Krane had some of her own struggles with her storytelling throughout the book. There were times when she was in character for other voices, and I felt that it blended into being one single person. I've heard her narrate previous books and have enjoyed her talents. But, this is the first time that I felt she met a challenge in her storytelling.

I would still recommend this book to listen to. For there's a good lesson in it and I believe there are older teens & young adults that could really learn something from it.

To be honest, I have no clue how I felt about this book...

I liked Brielle most of the time, but there were times when she'd complain about her life, and I would zone out a bit because her parents are rich, and yeah I understand that she rarely sees them, but it's not like she struggles with day to day problems like Jet. But it wasn't ok to use her to date a guys son in order to get the man's acceptence on a deal...

I liked Jet a lot. I loved the way he was with his family, how he'd play a game with the youngest and cook dinner, but also defend them and shield them from his drunken father.

They had only known each other for 3 days max before the epilogue, which for me at least seems like an insanely short amount of time to fall so much in love that you can't live without him. And is in pain when they aren't together...
It just felt too insta love for my taste.

But you can trust you'll like this story

Unhappy and lonely rich girl meets unhappy and lonely poor boy, and they have a happy, not lonely time together (with intermittent exceptions).

It sets a comfortable pace, & the characters are sympathetic. It's a little on the angsty, melodramatic side (it is YA after all) and had some areas of the plot that were a bit thin, but if you just want a light, entertaining romance with just a dash of fairytale, this will more than satisfy.

*Clean romance level: passionate kisses
*Parental caveat: the two teens spend a platonic night together in each other's arms which can be a good opportunity to talk to our teens about not setting ourselves up for temptation - or even false accusations

The first 17 chapters took place within 24 hours. The 18th chapter (epilogue) covered 3 months. This made the ending seem rushed. The ending was also just too convenient.

There were some unfinished/unexplained aspects to the book, such as what the story was about Crew, why Jet's mom said hanging around him meant trouble and that "was the last thing [Jet] needed", how Jet planned on supporting & protecting his family when he left, what ever happened with his dad, what did Jet even do for work, what happened to Kate after the bar...I could go on.

But all in all, I generally liked the book. Jet was protective and masculine. Brielle was weak, but Jet gave her courage to finally fight for herself.

This book felt hella rushed

Like yeah sure the whole we got one night to fall in love was cute but I don’t know, it just didn’t work for me 💀

First, the altruism in this book????? ANNOYING. Brielle was so stupid, like bro her parents were basically selling her for a hotel contract?? Get the fuck out. And her “it’s my duty to please them because they’re my family” was such bullshit. Second, Jet’s and Brielle’s relationship felt so freaking forced 😀 there were some parts that I did like but the whole I love you after 10 hours was just not for me.

I did like them as characters and they were both funny and quirky and shit but that’s it. I do love a happy ending tho so 3 stars :3

A really cute audiobook. I really appreciate when an author stretches themselves by not giving you the man’s perspective and instead you rely on his words and body language.

The reader in me loves the bad boy/good girl, rich/poor vibes while showing that they can have similarities. she just wants to be loved and he protects those he cares about very well. Also he is a nurturing big brother that can cook! * Swoon! *
The mom in me tries to think how in the world would I handle a situation in which my 17 year old daughter fell in love with someone in a day 😬🫣 but we turn off our brains while reading, it’s fine. Totally fine. Anyways super cute book with the insta-connection :) love it.

I’m not really sure what makes the male lead a bad boy in this book. He wears a leather jacket, rides a motorcycle, comes from the wrong side of town, and has a drunk for a father but as a person, he seems like a really good guy from the start. Regardless, my opinion is the same as the other Rules of Love books, cute and clean YA romance but technically speaking the book contains many spelling and punctuation errors as well as repetitive use of certain descriptions such as pinching lips. Nothing a good editing couldn’t fix.

ADORABLE

The story is an adorable very quick love story between a rich girl who wanted to get away from her reality just to stumble into someone else’s world.
Brielle needed an escape from the life her parents wanted for her, away from the arranged marriage they set up for her.
Jax was just in the right place at the right time.
In a 24-hour time frame these two crash into each other worlds and fall in love.
This story is receiving a 3 star but only because I am a huge sucker for slow burns and this story isn’t my usual type of stories. But it was still a great story.

this book is so close to being the best of the series so far 😌. i can really see the author’s writing getting better which is so satisfying 😁.

i truly cannot tell if these books are considered insta love. maybe the first book, yeah. but the more it goes on i think it gets less and less?

i really liked the concept of falling in one day. it seems so otherworldly and it’s been known to happen but it’s still crazy. although i was hesitant with the whole trope of ‘rich girl and middle class boy’ it was represented well? maybe brielle thought she was too entitled sometimes, so that kinda made me feel eh towards her.

otherwise, here’s the other tropes that are just 😎:

bad boy ✅
motorcycle ✅
misunderstood ✅
father issues ✅
best older brother ever ✅
jokester ✅

also! this book has definitely been the funniest so far. like actual lol moments. maybe the deepest too? so far, though.

to the next, ladies and gents ✌️.

Another great Rules of Love book.

I enjoyed the characters. They were a bit cliché but with enough twists to make it interesting.

I liked that Brielle wasn’t just running away from Jet, but she was thinking about his family too.

I thought the resolution with Stefano was a bit convenient and I wonder if Brielle’s parents would really even care about the circumstances. Regardless, I’m glad everything worked out.

I loved Kate. She was a great friend to Brielle and forced her to do what she needed to.

I would have loved some sort of resolution with Jet’s dad. I wonder if his family getting better jobs helped them get out of that situation. Would Brielle’s father help them find a safe place?

While I appreciated the internal conflict Brielle was having, I felt it was a bit dragged out in the middle chapters. There was multiple occurrences where she would go back and forth about her feelings and it seemed to be repetitive.

I thought the epilogue at the end was perfect. I was worried there would not be one, which always concerns me when reading about whirlwind romance. The epilogue about their summer and future plans was perfect.

Very cute, different story.

Okay.

It was Cute, but a little bit rushed. Perhaps, I would like a little more background of Jet’s life. I wasn’t into the love at first sight (too unbelievable) and soon, the more and more I get to know the heroine, I wasn’t really fond of her for some reason. A little of a struggle to get into their love. A lot of rolling my eyes. Lol. Overall, it wasn’t too bad- it’s still a fun and light read.
