Do you like your love stories dark and twisted?I’m not entirely sure how to tell our story.I always think I’ll fail at doing it justice. Most people like a feel-good romance. They like having a hero they can root for or an antihero that is slightly apologetic. This is the complete opposite of that.I fell for a man with a pitch-black soul and a charm so deceptive he could outwit the Devil. Our relationship was far from sunshine and rainbows. It was toxic, twisted, and dangerously addictive. He wasn’t an easy man to love.He had a bad habit of breaking my heart, just to rebuild it and shatter it again. It's easier to explain it from the very beginning, so that's what I'll try to do.But first, a word of warning, this isn't going to be pretty or even in the realm of what some can stomach or fathom, but I promise there's a happily ever after at the end.

So "Obscene" is the story of Morgana and Julien's son Mason and this is his and Katies story.
He is certainly a chip off the old block but compared to his father's past antics Mason is practically sane even with his unique compulsions that drive him to take things apart for his macabre art inspirations.
despite his penchant for murder and dismemberment, he was actually quite a sweetie, well to Katie anyway.
His dominance and control are definitely at the forefront as he drives this obsession with his Katie-Kat to it's full completion.
He wants to immerse her in his world so she has no choice but to stay within his deviant but loving embrace and teach her to embrace her wicked side completely.
I liked Katie and she is certainly wide open to this lifestyle of decadence and death.
She even finds mason's little hobby strangely intriguing which just shows her level of wired wrongness.
So Julien is back in this one and as much as I loved checking on him it also felt so bittersweet with how things finished in the previous book.
We also get to meet Mason's cousin Declan, who along with Ethen is in the next instalment of this series "Depravity" which is M/M/F and doesn't disappoint either.
So this series is not for the faint of heart on a 1-10 scale of darkness this is definitely an 11 this is extreme stuff very hostel in nature.
Me I love this type of fiction and I read this in one complete sitting.
This really is a great read if you like your boundaries completely obliterated.
I voluntary reviewed a copy of Obscene: A Dahlia Saga Novel.

“My version of a hero was incomprehensible to outsiders. I fell for a man with a pitch black soul and a charm so deceptive he could out with the devil.”
Book to goes forward in time where we meet mason who is Julian’s and Morgana‘s son from book one. He’s all grown up in his early 30s now and has had an infatuation with Katie who he has known since the day she was born. But he never sunk his claws into her until the time was right. And by right timing, I mean he knew that she wanted to take her life again, so he literally kidnapped her. Sounds familiar? This is Julian’s son after all.
“If I had to twist words and manipulate her for me to get what I wanted, and for her to be happy, I was going to.”
Mason knew that he would end up having feelings for Katie. And despite his oddities and “artistic abilities”, I found him to be on the sweeter side of the depravity that happens at the Dahlia. We don’t see much that goes on in the red rooms in this book because this book is really based around the “romance” and figuring out Masons twisted words.
Like Morgana, Katie’s sister also went missing and had a shitty home life.. so it’s a twisted game to figure out the truth and what has happened to everyone who’s gone missing.

“He was both madness and paradise. Fallen for him was like a slow motion suicide. “

Mason it’s charming and seductive and he uses sex as a weapon and tool to manipulate and have complete control of Katie. There is definitely nonANDdun/con involved. She starts off as an innocent and ends up falling down the rabbit hole of complete darkness.
This is a Twitter love story about a man going after the woman that he wants. And will say and do anything to keep her forever.
I absolutely love Mason. There’s just something about him that makes me forget about daddy Julian for a minute and appreciate just how much he loves his woman.

I haven't read Julian's story ill get to that soon lol but i know this is his son. And lord Mason is a twisted fked up person.. i don't think i read anyone that twisted? Okay maybe i have 🤣🤣 i placed all triggers below!!

Now this story has lots of twist and turns and secrets being hidden.. i enjoyed the chemistry between Mason and Katie it was raw, filthy and messy, i was suprised? That katie wasnt darker.. with all the thoughts running in her head i really wanted her to snap and be more killerish.. she only tech had one kill under her belt.. and i was disappointed that she didn't crack more or owned that she killed someone.. :/

My only meh was that Mason was married to her sister? Or fake married? Idk but we never saw the sister until the end 🤣🤣🤣 thats all I'm saying

No ow/om, No cheating, Agnst, Drama, secondary charas, hawt sex, Virgin gal and idk his sexual past

Graphic, offensive, disturbing and somehow still romantic describes the relationship here perfectly. Even expecting the dark sides of the book to come out in no way prepared me for the reality. The book is bloody, twisted and NOT FOR EVERYONE! Almost all the characters have a screw or two loose and what transpires is the culmination of the heroine losing hers as well when she succumbs to the darkness in her. Parts of the book are certainly non con so bare that in mind but know in a dark twisted way there still is a HEA. There’s also a lot of descriptive torture and mutilation which was very off putting but very normal and necessary for these fucked up characters. At the end of the day the heroine willingly concedes to this new life and it doesn’t make much time for her to flip a switch either which for me worked to prove she belonged there.

I have been eager to read Mason and Katie's story since I read Depravity (which I read first even though it's book 3) and I was not disappointed. Natalie Bennett proves again that she is the queen of deliciously dark reads. I really enjoyed trying to figure Mason out; while he is brutally honest, he's not forthcoming with information and has his secrets. He is definite his fathers son (Julian from Malice is his father).

I love this family and the more I see from them, the more I love them all. I can't recommend this whole series enough but be warned it is very dark and not for the faint of heart.

This was one of the darkest books I've ever read.
The characters were so twisted but I loved the story. The plot was amazing and the author definitely knows how to tell a fantastic story.
I'll definitely continue the series.
It was terrific.

***5 Stars***

I DEVOURED this baby.

It was dark, deviant and gory and yet...and yet I felt the love. Obsessive and deranged at times, but I definitely felt the love.

I adored Mason and Katie. Mason, for all the darkness that’s in him, is a man of honor and loyalty. He is also one that is quite honest, at least when it comes to what his heart desires and isn’t afraid to show it ~ even if it’s in ways that aren’t the norm when it comes to romance. Katie, for all that she was sheltered in her life, had a pretty strong sense of self. She knew that she was ‘different’, and would chastise herself for it at times, but also just went with the things going on in her head. She’s naturally curious and I loved how she followed her gut in most things.

Their journey to their HEA was definitely an interesting one from start to finish, but one that I thoroughly enjoyed. While there were secrets between them, I loved how honest they were with each other, even when they didn’t want to be. Their flow was spot on, even when things were rocky, the chemistry was intense and I really liked where they were at in the end.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, though I’m not all too sure if it surpases Depravity, but it does come close. The secrets and twists and turns were well done and I love how everything played out. As you can see, I didn’t read in order, but it didn’t cause any issues and can be read as a standalone, though reading Malice first is something I do recommend considering that it is about Mason’s parents.

Obscene by Natalie Bennett is just as crazy as book #1 in the Dahlia Saga, Malice, and again, if you have triggers trust me this one is going to obliterate every single one of them without hesitation.

Obscene centers around Julian and Morgana’s son, Mason Andreou and his “love interest” Katie Cormick.

Despite Morgana’s best effort, Mason has grown into a replica of his old man. But compared to Daddy Dearest he’s damn near sane, far from a “good” guy but much more on the “sane” scale than his dear old Dad.

Although he participates occasionally in the “red rooms” Mason’s real interest is his artwork. He fancies himself an artist… but the tools he uses and the “models” he uses for inspiration are quite… unique.

Learning from his dad’s mistakes instead of introducing her little by little Mason wants to throw Katie right into the mix of the goings on at The Dahlia leaving her with no other choice but to stay with him. But Katie has been starved for affection for so long that it doesn’t take much persuasion from Mason to have her seeing things his way. Katie has always been… different and unlike Morgana, Katie seems to be a lot more open to the lifestyle that they live at the Dahlia.
“You’re the perfect puppet. No matter how hard I pull on your strings you don’t break.”
Although his obsession and need for control are just as strong as his fathers was for Morgana, if not stronger, Mason seems to actually have a “softer” side when it comes to his Katie-Kat, or as soft as a man like him can be.
“His obsession was my greatest strength, and his only weakness.”
Julian does make an appearance in this one as well Declan, Mason’s cousin who is featured in the next book, Depravity, and THAT is one book you don’t want to miss!

Again, if you have ANY triggers, then this one is probably not for you. But if you crave the darkness then this Saga, along with any of Natalie Bennett’s other releases, are ones you surely do NOT want to miss!

This book was so good. I only wish it had been longer. I do feel like about 70% in, things seemed a bit rushed from there. The story is really good though and the characters make me want more.

This was absolutely another fantastic 5 plus ⭐read from the cleverly diabolical mind of Natalie I have to wonder where she comes up with these f'ed up stories, but as long as she's writing I'm going to be reading them.

We go back to the Andreou family of the Dahlia saga this is the story of Mason who is the son of Morgana and Julian and he's a lil saner than his father, but not by much seeing as he likes to cut up a person for his kind of art then paint them. Then you have his Katie or Katie Kat as he likes to call her she knows there's something wrong with him, but she's got her own lil crazy going on in her mind she's a good girl, but in her mind she's already managed to kill you 6 different way's oh yeh these 2 deserve each other and Mason has been watching her and binding his time waiting for the right moment to take her and make her see that their crazy can live in harmony as long as she never leaves him, because then she won't like him.

This book will take you on one crazy rollercoaster ride after another, but it's so good you'll want to get your ticket. This is definitely not for the faint of heart, but if your into the dark, twisted evil has a new name called Mason then you'll want to read this.

This second book in the Dahlia Saga is truly dark, twisted goodness. I loved Katie's conflicting thoughts and feelings and watching Mason slowly bring her into the fold of his world. I was fascinated with their story and couldn't seem to put this one down. The mysteries and twists along the way were fantastic. And by the end I was already looking forward to diving into the next book.

One dimensional

This book was very similar in storyline and themes to the first book in the series with more gratuitous, macabre violence and light romance and a disturbed heroine realizing and then celebrating her traits with an admitted twisted hero.

The tale was in some ways intriguing since the reader wanted to know what happened to the family members, but the plot was virtually non-existent, simply violence and erotica. The discovery of what happened to everyone in the end was anticlimactic.

After reading the first in the series, this one left me a bit disinterested in future tales. There were few redeeming qualities in this version. There was no foil, no counter to the darkness that would enrich the story, just recurring themes of violence, gore, and sex. Because of this, the book read one dimensionally.

I loved this book just as much as the first. Seeing Julian’s spawn was swoony.
However, the prologue...kind of fucked up the book for me. The whole time I was just expecting it to be one of those views into the present and then you get the story behind it.
It’s not. Honestly I have no idea what it even was, it wasn’t how Mason was born. It might’ve been how Katie was born BUT the doctor says it’s a boy which Mason confirms many many times is not the case.

Any who a few other things that I didn’t quite understand or didn’t get answered.
Katie’s description of their relationship in the first chapters, doesn’t fit imo. I kept waiting for these big things to happen like with Morgan-agh and Julian, but it never happened. Sure she and Mason have some ups and downs but nothing catastrophic.

At one point Mason says something about his truth and that he will never let her know it. Maybe that extended to the readers as well cause I’m still not sure lol. Unless it’s the whole her family thing? But that doesn’t make sense to me.

Mason says Julian raised him by himself for 7.5 years and later talks about his step mom also being a killer, but there is never another women mentioned or present ever other then that one line.

Also mention of Julian being sick with something that will kill him...but no idea what and the ending says he’s getting better. It kind of sounded like maybe a cancer or something? But no idea.

The ending was one I liked don’t get me wrong I was stressing about their relationship the entire book due that fucking prologue. I love Katie and omg Mason is seriously a version of his dad that is delicious. It just kind of felt abrupt, there wasn’t any clear conclusion to the issues they were having.
Katie seemed to have been playing him and had a plan set to “win” and then boom epilogue with a hea. Again I loved that they actually had an hea I was worried just as much as Julian she’d be another crazy bitch plotting a murder-suicide.
I’m just not satisfied with the turn of events or lack of events between I guess.

Did I read 1.5 books in one day? Yes. Am I gonna start the 3rd one tonight? Also yes. So let’s talk about this one. 😉

🖤Blurb🖤
Do you like your love stories dark and twisted? I’m not entirely sure how to tell our story. I always think I’ll fail at doing it justice. Most people like a feel-good romance. They like having a hero they can root for or an antihero that is slightly apologetic. This is the complete opposite of that. I fell for a man with a pitch-black soul and a charm so deceptive he could outwit the Devil. Our relationship was far from sunshine and rainbows. It was toxic, twisted, and dangerously addictive. He wasn’t an easy man to love. He had a bad habit of breaking my heart, just to rebuild it and shatter it again. It's easier to explain it from the very beginning, so that's what I'll try to do.

💭First things first, the MMC in this book is the son of the MMC in the first book so you just know that he is going to be just as dark and twisted. I continue to fall more in love with this authors writing! I am obsessed. The writing is beautiful and I have so many highlights it’s crazy. The plot though? Was INSANE and I was not expecting it to end the way it did! Not as many WTF moments as the first book, but they were still there! I am not sure who my fave Andreous man is yet. So far they both have been extra dark and depraved how I like them but I have a feeling there’s gonna be someone even darker coming. 👀

Everyone knows I'm a huge fan of Natalie Bennett's writing. I've loved everything she has put out. Obscene fell a little flat for me, to where I only liked it. Maybe I hindered myself reading Depravity before reading this. I wanted to like Katie A LOT, but her back and forth inside her mind kinda turned me off from her. I understand she was fighting herself, I understand she didn't wanna jump down the fecked up rabbit hole with Mason. But she gave me whiplash. Her unwavering love for Mason was her only constant. Mason was pretty clear on who and what he was from the get go. I guess I just wish Katie could say the same.

One thing that really bugs me is that I never had the light bulb moment with Katie. From one breath to the next she accepts herself and Mason with all their inner desires. No inner dialogue to how she became so accepting, I felt like I was missing a chunk of the story.

Now I do love Natalie Bennett's writing style. I love how she makes me always feel the characters emotions. I also love learning more about Dahlia and how each person ticks inside those walls. I love Mason and how he gives no fecks about his lifestyle and how others see it.

Overall, I did like Obscene. I did like the writing style. I did like the very dark and twisted nuances of every character.

Have you ever read a book and question your morality afterwards? It has happened to me a few times, but after reading this, just my freaking goodness. Natalie Bennett does NOT pull punches and this book is DARK (LIKE REALLY DARK) and twisted but how she allows us into the minds of her characters to understand how they feel and why they feel that way is freaking amazing.

This book to me was better than the first in the series- Macabre. We are getting more of a glimpse into the character's lives and not just what they are thinking now, but really into the WHY of it. (I have a degree in Psychology and of course I always want the why!). Mason was extremely likable and if you take away his extracurricular activities he is a pretty sane and sweet man that is extremely loyal.

If you like darkly delicious reads that make you wonder if there is something wrong with you for being so enthralled by the whys and the steam in the book, this is definitely a book for you to check out!

PS: I received this book as an ARC but am voluntarily and honestly reviewing it.

This book is dark, almost excessively so.

Dark isn't my problem with this book, the plot holes are. This book is such a recycled version of the previous book, the plot lines are almost identical:
- in both books the h is captured by taking a ride in the H's car
- in both books the sister is apparently being kept alive, but turns up dead
- in both books the h's parents arent really her parents
- in both books the sister is apparently a bitch and hated the h
- in both books the h's parents are killed

I'm still confused about a lot of things that weren't addressed in the previous book and then this book brings up a whole list of other questions that aren't yet answered. I don't find the story compelling enough to continue with the series. Darkness for darkness' sake isn't good.

The "love" between the characters is as unrealistic as the idea that the H married the h's sister for a completely unexplained and unexplored reason that is never resolved.

Nope. Story is very well written.

This book truly plays to Natalie Bennett's strengths. It messes with your mind, keeps you guessing as to what is wrong and what's right and if there is even anything like the right. It's very disturbing and keeps you off-balance the entire time. There's so much that you learn, but for everything that you learn, you end up with another 10 questions. It's like a vicious Hydra.

Katie and Mason are just so interesting together. It's hard to figure out exactly who Mason is, at least to me, even though he is pretty brutally honest about everything. It's just that he has his secrets, and he doesn't always answer questions. More like he rarely answers questions, so even though he's brutally honest when he does answer them, you still aren't learning any of his secrets.

I almost think that Katie is more disturbing than Mason is, for reasons.

I want more and more of their story.

Obscene is the story of Morgana and Julien's son Mason and his obsession Katie. This could be read as a standalone, but I typically enjoy reading them in order since the books do tend to flow best that way.

While Mason is not normal by any stretch, he is not quite as twisted as his father. He is a macabre artist. He sees part of Katie that she doesn’t even understand herself and he is determined to show her how she is perfect for him.

While I do recommend reading in order, I can say that this does stand alone as this is quite a bit away from the story in book 1 with respect to timeline. This was dark and twisted and great for those who enjoy testing their boundaries.

My first 3 star book by this author.

Why?? Well, because this book was nearly a carbon copy of the first book.
This book was Mason and Katie’s book but the whole time I was reading it I had Julian and Morgana in my head. It was just so similar that I skimmed a few chapters because it became a little boring...hence the 3 star rating.

Katie was annoying with her I love him so much but he kills people but when he touches me I forget all about that. That was exactly the way Morgana was.
Morgana liked to cut and burn herself and Katie talked to the voice in her head,
In this book Katie’s family betrayed her just like Morgana’s did. SO SIMILAR.

This is my second series by this author so I have decided that I’m going to leave this series alone for awhile. I’m going to read a stand-alone book by this author and see how that it.

If you have read the Mercy Books the world will be familiar, but you don’t miss out if you haven’t read them before.

Katie isn’t rescued by a white knight, but by a Dark Knight. I really felt for Katie, She is so confused about Mason. She loves him, but the things he does repel and attract her at the same time. And then there are a lot of secrets. Mason is a complex character. He know who he is and what he likes and makes no excuses.

The second part of the book was more emotional and we see Katie grow more confident and more herself. She was not just playing Mason’s games, but she played her own. Something that Mason respects. There is a intensity and connection between them that grows stronger each day.

Once I started reading I couldn’t stop.

This story is incredibly twisted and honestly didn't really have much of a real plot. Katie is a very quite obedient girl who has had a tuff closed off life she has a secret admirer who turns out to be Mason, Julian's son from the last book. Mason is obsessed with two things death and Katie and he aims to have and keep both. Katie really didn't have much of a backbone and I felt not much for her honestly. The story itself was secrets and deciet on Masons part from Katie and everything she knows. He wants to break her and at the same time he wants become who he believes she can be. Katie honestly just goes with everything and to easily excepts her new twisted reality.

Sick well -written and scary 5 star

Nor did I foresee that the series would get even more confusing and worse

The story is about Julian's son Mason and a girl named Kate

Mason's just like his dad's sick, twisted cruel and ruthless,
but in fact, he is even worse
These scenes were horrible in the book

Kate has been alone all her life, home school, a mother who doesn't care about her

The relationship between Mason and Kate was crazy hot and cruel
This sick story kept me excited from start to finish, the story is written in two parts
as well as their both point of views

The epilogue was already predictable

Thank you!
