Claire
I believed I had my future all planned out.
College, track, friends, I mean, why wouldn't I? I was a nineteen-year-old girl in college with a dream of being an Olympian that wasn't too far within reach as a college top track star.
A jeep I could roll the windows down while the radio blasted as I sang off-key.
My own dorm that gifted me privacy from my two triplet brothers.
I had it all.
But just like many, I took it all for granted. That's until my life turned upside down, and everything changed. I nearly became one more lost soul. Without the love of my family, friends, and a very charming soccer player, I would've truly lost myself in the process.
This is my story and how I began to see beyond what's right in front of me.
Funny, all I had to do was open my eyes.
The only problem is time.

Jake
lived a life never truly paying attention to the world around me. I had my dad, my grams, and my soccer ball. I was perfectly fine with the way I lived life.
Why grow attached to things that can walk away?
That's until I saw her.
The girl I never thought I would find--the one who made me see in a different perspective.
Oh, and how beautiful it is.

Fantastic book about Love, Hope and Family!

This was a terrific book which I enjoyed from start to finish. I could tell right form the first few pages that I was going to like the story and I wasn’t disappointed. The two main characters characters were fully developed and supporting characters, mostly family members and a few friends fit perfectly into the story and worked well with the subject matter.

The story was original, unpredictable and it was at times heavy subject matter. There were a few times I found myself on the verge of tears and the supporting characters would come in with some comic relief that would have me laughing and dry up my tears.

The story surrounds the heroine, Claire who is a triplet, the other two being brothers Cole and Liam who came out 5 and 10 minutes before her and are both over 6 feet tall while she is 5’6”. So they consider her their baby sister. When things go wrong for Claire, she moves in with her brothers and comes into contact with their best friend Jake, whom she met at the stadium when she went to run with her brothers after their soccer practice.

Claire has walls up and doesn’t want Jake to get past the walls, but he is persistent and she tells him her problems but he doesn’t care and they fall for each other, despite the objections of her brothers. Jake has an inner strength that is pretty awesome in this book and the way he loves Claire is the way every girl wants to be loved. I think that is one of that things that makes this book so great.

They go through some difficulties that are pretty overwhelming and neither of them know how to handle the situation. The emotional journey that the author, K. Dosal McLendon takes us on is sometimes heartbreaking and at other times uplifting. Overall it is a journey that is really worth going on.

There are times in life when when certain people get near the point of losing hope for one reason or another, I know what that feels like because there was a point in my life where I had chronic pain so bad that I had to realize it was never going to get any better and my life was never going to be the same as it was before. Losing hope is a terrible thing and the author deals with that very well in this story.

The next story focuses on Claire’s brother Cole and his childhood sweetheart. I can’t wait to read that one as well and I hope there is more of Claire and Jake in that story, so we can see how they are faring.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Book: What Do You See?
Author: K Dosal
Type: Standalone
POV: First Person - Dual
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Rating: 3 Stars!

Age: Claire Reynolds - 19, Jake Lockwood - 21/22.

Yes, I see the beauty this world has to offer; all I had to do was see you.

If you look at the average rating and glowing reviews of this book, you will soon realize I am definitely in the minority with my opinion. I did enjoy some aspects of it, but they were dampened by some other, less appealing parts.

When you can accurately predict nearly the entire plot of a book, yet you still can't tear yourself away from it—that's when you know you've found a good one. As soon as I figured out what was happening, I knew where the plot would go, and while at first I was a little frustrated, the plot won me over immediately. This is a book about finding hope and courage where you think you have none, about how you need to be the person to motivate yourself through tough times.

To think I believed my sight was all. How I took for granted my touch, my hearing, the ability to express myself with my voice, even my taste. They all can make you see, just in a different way. I guess all I had to do was realize the importance of them all.

The story's about Claire - a 19 year old college student who's slowing losing her sight due to a bacteria infection. I admire Claire. She didn't just initially accept things and move on, she needed support which she mainly received form Jake and her brothers. Yes, her parents were supportive as well, but I loved her relationship with her brothers the most. My favorite part of this story was the healing and growth. Nothing makes me happier in a story than to see characters grow and change on their own, and the same characters helping heal each other.

I'm afraid to live, but afraid of not living. I don't want to be alone, but I don't want to open my heart to love. Ultimately, what I'm most afraid of, is not being able to see. I believe our eyes are the entrance of our souls.

I really enjoyed her brothers, Cole and Liam, or Dumb and Dumber in Claire's words. They really were the highlight of the book, they were likable, interesting, and made me smile throughout with their antics. There were several references to Wolverine, X-Men, Marvel and Edward Cullen, which behold:

Until my sister stops acting like a thirteen-year-old who just saw Edward Cullen, you should wear a shirt around her.

However soon after meeting Jake - my interest in the book decreased. Firstly, it was insta-lust, insta-attraction, insta-love, overall insta-everything. After a grand total of one meeting, Claire began having thoughts like "He could be it. No, I know. He's. It." <-- This quote was literally at 12%. Like, the hell? I know I want more build-up in my books than this. Secondly, I wasn't aware that 'What Do You See?' has fade-to-black scenes! I don't do fade-to-black at all. I’m sad to say this but romance part ruined the essence of the story for me and made it over-the-top and unrealistic. Fortunately, there was so much more to this novel than just romance so I was still able to enjoy it, even though I didn’t end up loving it as much as I hoped I would. Still, did the romance have to be so cheesy, dramatic and over the top?

Another big issue for me was Austin - Claire's other best friend who's also sinfully gorgeous and perfect and who wants to be more than friends with her. Essentially a love triangle situation;

In case you are wondering why we aren't dating. Trust me, we're better off as friends, although we did try. I could never see him as anything more. We met freshman year during track tryouts. His blue eyes and shiny blond hair were hard to resist. His runner's body is nicely defined, though it's nothing compared to this dark-eyed boy who's been in my thoughts lately. But, who's comparing? Anyways, we were just too friend material. He's persistent about giving us another chance, but I have to be realistic—despite his good looks, it could never be more.

"We were just too friend material"?! Needless to say, I liked Austin more than Jake. ╮(╯_╰)╭

Regardless of my ramblings, the story is cute and the characters are great. It's a good inspirational chick-flick if you're looking for a quick pick-me up.

I’m slowly drowning. Slowly giving up, and I think that’s what aches the most: losing my hope.

This is my first book by this author and it was amazing. I had all kinds of emotions through this story and it made me stop and think " how many simple things do I take for grated". The writing was good, the characters were good, the brothers were amazing. The parents in this story were amazing and only wanted the best for their kids. Great great job on this story and thank you so much for the ARC and letting me read this !!!

Five stars for Clarie and Jake ❤!

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Hmm...

Again I gave the book five stars 🤔?!

Yes, I did and this book deserves every single star!

"What do you see?" is heartbreaking New Adult Romance story about two young college student who falls in love and shows us that no matter what happens in life their love will never disappear.

The relationship between Clarie and Jake it's from the beginning, something you won't find in any other book.

What I love the most in this book is Jake's unconditionally love for Clarie 😭❤!

K. Dosal McLendon is the new author to me. She really surprised with her writing because this was her debut book and it's written very well.

Now, I'm waiting for Cole's and Grace's story 😍❤!

Highly recommended!!!

Wow! This debut novel by K. Dosal McLendon was absolutely wonderful! What Do You See? is a beautiful love story, but even more than that... It's a story of loss and heartache. It's a story of strength and never giving up. It's a story of finding yourself again after the darkness tries to take over. It's a story that will tug at your heart strings from the very beginning.

What Do You See? was a breathtakingly epic story about love, loss and healing that rocked me to my core. The author's words and writing affected me profoundly. A heart-wrenchingly real, raw and, at times, difficult to bear tale, McLendon ultimately gave her readers a gloriously grand, sweeping love story that will stay with them long after they finish reading it. What Do You See? is one of the great love stories within the romantic fiction genre, and stories like this are precisely why I read romance. A top favorite for the year, and a story I’d rate higher if I could.

It's easy for us to take the small things for granted, but What Do You See? is a reminder to open your eyes and look at the beautiful world around you.

It's actually hard for me to write this review because it's unlike everything else I've read. If you are looking for a shallow storyline with no life lesson, a bunch of teenage sex, and unrealistic twists and turns, then this isn't the story for you. This story is refreshing and will WAKE YOU THE F UP. K. Dosal McLendon's debut novel was a huge eye-opener for me–no pun intended. The story of Claire is about overcoming unforeseen circumstances, turning something tragic into something beautiful, learning to have hope, finding love when you least expect it, and knowing it's okay to not always be strong, but allowing others to be strong for you.

I love Claire and Jake's characters and the relationship they have. I'm just as excited to see what else is in store for the remaining characters. I will definitely be reading Cole's story (Claire's brother), which will be the second book in this triplet series!

𝟓 𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐛𝐢𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐝𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐬!

Ok. I need a few minute to collect my thoughts. I just finished with this book. And I love every single page of this emotional journey.

"𝑯𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒔 𝒊𝒔 𝒂 𝒕𝒓𝒖𝒍𝒚 𝒃𝒆𝒂𝒖𝒕𝒊𝒇𝒖𝒍 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈. 𝑯𝒐𝒍𝒅 𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒐 𝒊𝒕 𝒕𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕"

This book is about losing something what everybody takes for granted.

Claire has perfect family , great best friends.
But she doesn't have everything. She is slowely losing one thing that we never think about, about how important it is. And how happy we should be for having it.
Sight.
And with that she is losing much more.
But then a soccer ball came flying to her head and something changed.
She met him.
Jake.
He is as dreamy as he can be. Perfect, loyalty, loving, charming, captain-of-the-soccer-team guy, with a power to change her view of life, her future.

"𝑫𝒐𝒏' 𝒉𝒊𝒅𝒆. 𝑰'𝒍𝒍 𝒍𝒐𝒐𝒌 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑰 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒇𝒊𝒏𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖, 𝑪𝒍𝒂𝒊𝒓𝒆. 𝑺𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆'𝒔 𝒏𝒐 𝒑𝒐𝒊𝒏𝒕 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒓𝒚𝒊𝒏𝒈."

With every passing day Claire' s condition is getting worse. She withdraws in herself, losing every hope for a future. But Jake is on every step of her way with her.

"𝑶𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒃𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒎𝒚 𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒕𝒕𝒚 𝒈𝒊𝒓𝒍 𝒃𝒂𝒄𝒌:
𝑶𝒏𝒆, 𝒑𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒓𝒇𝒖𝒍 𝒆𝒎𝒐𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝒉𝒆𝒓.
𝑻𝒘𝒐, 𝒎𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒍.
𝑻𝒉𝒓𝒆𝒆, 𝒎𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒍𝒂𝒖𝒈𝒉."

The story is so emotional, sad, but so powerful . It's about finding strength for moving on, for fight, for living.
Jake's and Claire's story is full of sweet moments, taunting, playful conversations, and hard life-changing situations.

She is one of the strongest book heroine I've came across with.
And Jake is one of the sweetest, heart-melting, perfect book-boyfriend.

"𝑰 𝒔𝒆𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖."

And for the end I have to mention two perfect, goofy, supporting, sweet brothers of Claire. Cole and Liam. Two best brothers someone can have.
This two are big bonus in this book, and I love them and their love for Claire.
I can't wait for their stories.

I believe our eyes are the entrance of our souls. If you took away my hearing, I may not hear the birds sing, but I could see the beauty of them. I might not be able to hear you speak, but I could see your expressions, which say more than a thousand words.
Now, if you took my voice...I could still write an "I love you." I could still laugh with my eyes, and speak through my actions instead of my words. But without my sight, who will I be?

Ugh. It kills me to say this, but as much as I really, really want to LOVE this book, I just can't. I may as well find thoroughly liking it hard because of the overall writing style. Not only can't I resonate with the characters, I also struggle to fully immerse myself in the setting of the story. Don't get me wrong, I do appreciate where this story is coming from and leading to, I simply think the execution and delivery can be done more smoothly. I guess I'm used to vivid descriptions and straight-forward personality of the characters so when the protagonists are having these inner thoughts out loud, I automatically tune them out and as a consequence, I lose interest in the story eventually.

If you're looking for a sweet romance and slight coming-of-age read, then I'd still suggest you give this book a try. I mean, there are many positive thoughts on this series, and the main reason I don't enjoy it as much relies solely on my preference. :)

What a great debut novel by K. Dosal McLendon! A truly captivating story with a happily ever after!

My heart broke for Claire and her struggle to decide what outcome she wants for her future. I fell in love with Jake and how caring and supportive he was to Claire. These two had met under unusual circumstances, but somehow developed into so much more.

This is a MUST read romance that will give you all the feels! I highly recommend picking up this book! What Do You See? by K. Dosal McLendon will join the ranks of the BIBLIO-ELITE!!!

WHAT DO YOU SEE?

This is a beautiful story about finding love in the face of adversity.

Clair suffered an accident that left scars beyond what the eye could see. Although she had a wonderful support system, some things she had to overcome on her own. But that doesn't mean she did it alone. We then met Jake, the hot soccer player, who fell instantly for Clair on their first encounter. And what an encounter it was. She tried to push him away but eventually, she caved. Together the pair embarked on a sweet romance that will melt your heart.

Needless to say that the story was filled with emotion. At the end of it, I was left with a sense of appreciation for the little things I take for granted in life. And I couldn't get the phrase "What do you see?" out of my head for a while.

I enjoyed this book and can't wait to see what the author has prepared for Cole.

What Do You See? Is a book that will stick with me for a while. It is so different from anything that I have ever read before and I loved every single moment of it. For a debut novel this story is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING. It literally makes you open your eyes and think about the world around you.

Claire had everything going for her. She was a student, track star and an Olympic hopeful. Until one single accident forever changed her life. She is on a downward spiral and shutting out those who are closest to her. Jake is a soccer star, but his life isn’t perfect. He has gone through his own struggles, but there is something about Claire. He wants to know her secrets and he wants to be her support. Will she be able to let him in?

This story. It is raw, emotional, beautiful, breathtaking, sweet, heartbreaking, full of hope and love. Claire and Jake are real. Their relationship isn’t perfect, they struggle as a couple and individually many times throughout the story. What I love most about Jake? The fact that he isn’t willing to give up when times get rough, he is there every single step of the way. Trying to find a way to help her and support her. Claire is a fighter. I can’t even begin to imagine what she is feeling and experiencing but her story is inspirational. Her struggles felt real. You could feel her pain and hurt throughout the entire story.

Claire’s brothers, Cole and Liam, were fantastic secondary characters and I can’t wait for their stories. I hope that we get more Claire and Jake in those stories as well.

This story is so much more than a contemporary romance novel, it is inspirational and gives you so much hope. This one is a MUST READ and a definite favorite of mine.

2.5 🌟

Seeing this book on my fellow bookstagrammer’s feed and their enthusiasm about it I really wanted to read it. Especially because I love young couples and sports romance and emotional reads.

So to say I had some high expectations would be understatement. But there were more things that I didn’t like than I did.

The beginning was promising but it all kinda shattered with the fact that it was insta love. I believe in instant attraction but instant love and this early in the book just makes things unbelievable.

I haven’t really felt the spark between Claire and Jake, or been emotionally involved with the story line. Jake was really sweet and a real beta male, which I really love, but neglected everything because of Claire.
It felt like the whole story happened in her bedroom, with her taking pain killers and having difficulties with her condition, being depressed. And to be completely honest, I was struggling to stay awake every time I took my Kindle to continue reading it. There wasn’t any big plot or story development.

The thing I really liked was that whole family feel to it. Triplets connection and their funny banter and attentiveness to each other. And there were hints of Claire’s brothers love interests so I guess they’re getting their own books.

Overall it was a sweet story about struggle and hope , and you can surely recommend it to younger readers.

What Do You see? is K. Dosa l Mclendon's debut release and it is a great start to what I predict will be a wonderful career. She managed to expertly weave several of my favorites into one 5-star read. Brothers best friend romance? Check. Funny sibling and family banter? Check. Protective older brothers? Check, even if it's only by 10 minutes. Honest, raw emotions? Check. These Characters were so fun to read about and get to know. They were real human characters who pulled me into their lives and made me feel like I was part of their family. I felt every up and down. Every bit of laughter and every tear shed pulled at my emotions. The only way I can think of to adequately describe my feelings about this story is to simply say I loved it and I can't wait to get my hands on book 2!

Claire is the baby and only girl in a set of triplets. She was in her freshman year of college when her perfect life was derailed. She had to drop out of school, quit her job and move in with her annoying but loving brothers. One day on a run with her brothers she runs into Jake. While he is the most attractive man she has ever met she cops an attitude with him because she doesn't think she is in a place to start a relationship. Jake is having none of that and he pursues her despite her trying to shy away and her brothers' balking.

I am in awe of this book. It was nothing like what I expecting but it was so much more and freaking amazing. The emotional roller coaster these two go on is both heartbreaking and uplifting. Jake's unwavering devotion to Claire, determination to be by her side through it all and his resolute belief that it would get better was awe-inspiring. Ugh, I am tearing up again just thinking about it. And then for Claire to unwittingly save Jake and make him see the world in a whole new way was just another layer of how amazing this book was. I will definitely be adding this book to my bookshelf and will re-read this one many times over. I can't wait to read the brothers' books.

I'm currently in a fog of positive emotions 🥰. This debut book by K. Dosal McLendon is such an incredible beautiful and heartbreaking story surrounded by so much love, loss and inspiring feelings at the same time, that it draw you into their world and doesn't let go for a long time afterwards.
The topic of this book is a terrible stroke of fate, an accident, that change the life of the whole family. But the amazing way this story is written, makes it not only sad and heartbreaking, but also funny, romantic and unbelievable heartwarming 🥰
This book is like a drama slow burn, if such a thing exists. You'll be tortured for a long time. You'll cry and laugh with the characters, but the beautiful HEA will be your reward afterwards ❤❤❤
I highly recommend this book to everyone who loves love stories.
I can't wait to read her next book.

K. Dosal McLendon's novel is a breath of fresh air.

What Do You See is an emotionally driven and charming tale of hope, finding love when you least expect it, and leaning to deal with the curves life has kicked your way. It's about knowing that it's okay to let someone be strong for you on days when you can't be strong yourself.

I love that Jake and Claire are so realistic and believable. Their relationship is priceless and although its not perfect, it's perfect for them. It's been a while since I've enjoyed a story this deeply emotional. I'm so excited to see what else debut author, K. Dorsal McLendon, has up her sleeve for the rest of the characters in this beautiful story. Job well done!

Debut Novel What Do You See is beautiful.
💕
Most of the books I’ve read recently have had the rough, tough, rude, brooding Alpha. 💕
Jake though is not like that. He is ALLLLLLLLL MAN. But you see a softer side of him that sometimes those other males lack or you don’t see until much later. The support and love that Jake gives willing is beautiful and breathtaking. It reminded me so much of my own Love.
💕
This book hurts. It hurts because you see the struggle of Claire; physically and mentally. You see the struggle of those who love her. You see the struggle of letting someone in, then trying to push them back out. You see the struggle of being wanted, being needed. You feel the pain of their lives changing. You feel the pain of loosing oneself.
💕
But you see the beauty in family. The strength of friendship. The Power of love. You see someone at their weakest being loved so completely by those around her. You see the love of service. That when you love someone so completely caring for them is not a task, a burden, but a privilege. You see that when you truly care, you can see the person who they truly are. You see their needs before they voice it. You See Them.
💕
Jake and Claire do have a bit of insta love connection. Love at First Sight. They are two souls connected that finally found each other. They are SO ADORABLE! Both Jake and Claire are a bit damaged in some way. They both are struggling. But they find each other and strengthen each other. Their love is true and fast. 💕
I enjoyed reading this book and enjoyed talking about it with @k.dosalmclendon. If you want a sweet, filled with much emotion, and a pure look at love then read this debut novel. It was a sweet reminder to not take life and love for granted. To really look around you. To See.

As soon as I started reading, my heart was already breaking! This story! The feels! The characters, the way this author writes, the story, everything! I was mesmerized. It felt completely and utterly authentic, painstakingly balanced between tragic and harrowing. I read it in one sitting. I barely took a breath.

I loved What Do You See?. It's a tell unique story. Claire had her dreams close to being achieved then an accident happened that changed to course of her life. She battling a illness that causes symptoms that I have never seen tackled in book. She's strong character. She likes to push people away and pretend she fine but Jake really sees her. Jake was a great character too. He's sweet and nice. He's patient with Claire and gives her just what she needs. This story had me hooked. It's a heart string pulling story. I loved it from beginning to end and I truly wasn't sure what the outcome of the story was going to be until the end. This one is one you should definitely one click.

Touching book that treats love, losses and hope
*e-book generously gifted by the author in exchange for an honest review*

“I have nothing without you
All my dreams and all the lights mean
Nothing […] if I can’t have you.”

Without You – Lana del Rey

I was immensely thrilled when the author offered to send me the e-book for a review! She was really kind and I appreciate it deeply.

What’s this book about? (I'm trying to give as little spoilers as possible)
Claire lost the future that she had planned out and worked hard for. Now, she suffers from health problems that really ask a lot of her. She meets Jake who has his own issues with his family, yet, they click and Jake becomes a refreshing addition to Claire’s life, much to Claire’s brothers’ dismay (THEY’RE HYSTERICAL THOUGH). Claire’s family and Jake support Claire through her struggles with her new and straining reality.

I’ve read some other reviews of this book and some say this is instant-love and that it turns them off; honestly, I’d usually say that, too, (HAHA), but instant-love is so out of context for what happens in this book. While reading, I had to take a step back and think to myself, you evil witch, do you really want this poor girl to suffer an agonizing relationship just so that you can have more fun reading it? No. She’s got enough to deal with as it is. Therefore, I enjoyed it for what it was. The main couple falls in love pretty quickly because there are bigger and more serious issues at hand. I mean, with Claire’s health situation, you have to be all the way in or out. There’s no in between.

You can see that in how her family treats Claire. She loses everything, her potential future career, education and apartment. Everything changes in her environment and her family members build a strong support system around her. Her brothers Cole and Liam (they are triplets) share a distinctive and strong bond with Claire. They are generous and they protect her. No, really, they are insanely protective of their little sister. LITTLE SISTER. They are triplets. LOL. Jake often jokes that these guys are Claire’s bodyguards and honestly, I’ve never felt more like having siblings than when reading What do you see? The sibling dynamic of this book was incomparable.

Moving on to Jake, the protagonist’s love interest, I have to say that he’s a compassionate and kind-hearted young man (I sound old while writing this). He has his own family drama that I would’ve liked to know more about. It’d be interesting to dive into how exactly everything happened (just more POVs from this cutie haha). There are explanations in this book, however, more info would’ve added even more awesomeness to his character. He's already superb though. I understand that this is Claire’s book though and that his backstory isn’t dealt with in the same quantity as Claire’s health issues.

Last but not least, let’s talk about Claire. She’s a fighter. I liked how, yes, she was on track to become an Olympian (see what I did there), but, in the end, that doesn’t take up most of the book. Claire’s dreams are shattered, for sure, but her health becomes the number one priority in the story and it starts consuming her entire being which is actually kind of sad if you think about it. She loves her family just as much as they love her and she doesn’t abuse the fact that she’s in the priority lane of everyone’s lives. I never felt like she was enjoying the attention that she got from everyone which speaks to her character a lot. She shows selfless tendencies when Jake and her relationship is at its start and that just makes your heart melt, considering what she’s going through. Her quirky inner monologue drowns out in the last part of the book where she takes a dark turn because the circumstances are simply awful and tragic. One aspect that didn’t sit well with me while reading her POVs was the mentions of how feminine she is and then she’s suddenly not because she grew up with two boys and then she’s such a girly girl again. I simply grew confused at what she actually thought she was.

What I learned from this book is that you better be thankful for all the blessings that you have. Focus on what’s really important in life and most of all, if you have a kick-ass family, show them how much you love and appreciate them.

What Do You See is an emotional debut romance between two young adults facing an upsetting ordeal due to a misfortunate accident. Through ups and downs of dealing with uncertainty, they form a strong and supportive bond unlike any other. This is a really heartwarming story about love, family, and life in general, and hope beyond any turmoil life throws our ways.

This story deals with a heavy subject, yet the author managed to tell it as delicately as possible. Claire and Jake's relationship is really the central part of the story. It was progressive and beautifully developed throughout the story.

Claire, one of the triplets of the family, is very much protected by her brothers. They have this unique and special attachment between them that is quite unbreakable. Jake coming in into this relationship could cause trouble of its own, but it wasn't like that at all. I like how Claire manages to rely on Jake from time to time and puts her trust in him. It wasn't too rushed and it takes some getting used to since she has enough on her plate as well. But in the end, she becomes her own self while finding love in this boy who loves her so much.

Jake is a persistent character and has qualities every boyfriend should have. He supports Claire in his own ways and although it's difficult to break through Claire's shell, he manages it well enough. It's obvious how much he cares for her and the other way around. He really is a stand-up guy.

Unfortunately, I have a bit of trouble following the pace of this book and there are some scenes (and chapters for that matter) that I thought more like fillers and do not add much to the story. Although this doesn't bother me that much and I enjoy reading them nevertheless, so, all in all, I give this one 4/5 stars.

I received an e-copy of this book in exchange for an honest review

I really really enjoyed this one. Yes it had insta love and sex scenes off the page but the story was great. Loved Claire, Jake, Liam and Cole. Claire is a triplet with Cole and Liam - the sibling love was big amongst these three. Plus Cole’s book is next and I can not wait.
Claire was going through something life altering when she meets Jake. She senses an immediate connection with him - she senses him like she does her brothers. Jake was a soccer star - but there was no other woman drama and no relationship angst. Just two people in love supporting each other. Jake helped Claire see a different perspective and gave her support. You felt how Claire was feeling- her hopelessness, anger and hope.
I really enjoyed these group of characters. I hope we get to see more of Claire and Jake in Cole’s book.

I was gifted a copy for an honest review.

Wow! This book literally touched my heart. I couldn't put it down. There are so many emotions with this book. It's raw and make you appreciate life that can change in an instant. Claire is dealt with bad luck after an accident changed her life drastically. Jake is the hot alpha soccer captain who becomes enamored by Claire at first sight. Claire rely's on her brothers to help her with her day to day life and with Jake who doesn't give up on wanting to be a part of her life. This book is well written and captured me from the beginning. I love Claire and Jake's relationship and the relationship that Claire has with her brothers Liam and Cole. I can't wait to read Cole's book next!

description

English:
"What do you see?" by K. Dosal McLendon is the first book I've read by this author, but I'm sure it's not the last, and I'm looking forward to reading "What do you regret?". It's a very romantic new adult novel that you'll need a Kleenex box next to you because you're going to need a lot of them. This story is very emotional, sweet with characters that stole your heart.

Claire Raynolds had it all planned out for her future, university, athletics... But a car accident makes her whole future go wrong, and she has to go from doctor to doctor looking for answers and solutions to her big problem. Jake Lockwood is used to a different life and focused until a new girl appeared that would change his life, although he will have to show her happiness.

Claire was a sweet, charismatic protagonist, willing to give up, but at the same time with the necessary strength to continue and not get stuck. Her character gave me sadness but at the same time hope. She is the youngest member of the family so she is very loved. The relationship with her siblings was fun, and they had a lot of love for each other. Those moments where she wanted to surrender, but she had at her side people who support her and encourage her.

Jake is the soccer player you think is the arrogant-bad-boy, but instead, he is the most loving person, and with Claire he is super sweet, always looking for her happiness and her well-being.

"This girl is driving me wild. I want her, and not for a night. Oh no, I want her to be my girl"

I'm dying to know what will happen with the other brothers, but especially with Cole and Grace.

What do you see?
Such a seemingly simple, straight forward question, but it can hold so much power. It's so easy for us to look around and take everything at face value, especially if our surroundings are something we see every day. But K. Dosal McLendon takes this unassuming question and uses it to remind us to not take the simple things in life for granted with a beautiful story about strength and perseverance, pain and love.

Claire's story is about surviving in a difficult situation, finding beauty in the tragic, and learning that showing your pain and allowing others to be strong for you does not make you weak. Claire is dealt a terrifying hand and K. made the story feel real by showing Claire's struggles with mental health along with her physical health in a emotionally raw way.

Claire's relationship with her brothers was one of my favorite parts of the story. Their closeness and undying love for each other really showed Claire that when she couldn't be strong for herself, they would always be there to be strong for her - not because they had to, but because they wouldn't have it any other way. The triplets' dynamic was so inspiring!

And then there's Jake. Sweet, thoughtful, supportive, and loving Jake. I am not a fan of insta-love, but I loved Jake and Claire's insta-connection, and even though that insta-connection basically turned into insta-love after less than a week into the story, their relationship was touching and so completely supportive. Basically from the first time they meet, Jake is determined to be there for Claire, no matter what comes her way, and his unrelenting devotion was beautiful.

A couple issues I need to mention. These are purely my opinion and therefore should be taken with a grain of salt and definitely should not be read if you haven't read the book yet, not because I'm really spoiling anything but because I don't want to prematurely alter your opinion going into it:

This book is a diamond in the rough! The core of the story is absolutely incredible and like nothing I've ever read before! So gut wrenching and touching, and so full of heart. Claire's story will stick with me forever, reminding me to not take anything I see for granted - see everything with fresh eyes, pay attention to the simple details, every little thing matters and is utterly beautiful. Look around you and appreciate the movement of the wind through the leaves, how the bright sun changes the colors around you, the tremor in someone's laugh, the ripples of raindrops in a puddle, strangers holding hands, the different shades of black in the night sky. Every. Little. Thing.
Now tell me, what do you see?

{Thank you K. Dosal McLendon for sending me a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.}

Favorite quotes:

Our eyes can speak without needing words. They can tell you anything you’re willing to see. Our problem is, we often close them because we are afraid of the truths they might have in store for us.

His dark eyes make me want to believe my second world is indeed beautiful.

His finger moves up to my forearm, exploring my whole arm. His slow pattern sends shivers all through my body.
Bubbles form in my stomach... Or is this what they call butterflies?
Oh gosh. Please don’t let it be gas.

“What are you thinking about?”
“How much I detest the dark right now. I want to see you. To see what’s going through your mind.” He grabs my waist and pulls me closer to his warm body. “I want to see why you’re truly hiding in the shadows, Claire.”
“What makes you think I’m hiding? I’m not, and if I was, I would say you just found me.”

“I see you. I see how your green eyes are dull, and pale, but the way they shine so brightly with appreciation tells me they are nothing but full of life. I see how your radiant brown hair rolls in long waves all over the deep green grass. I see how the sunlight paints your hair with streams of light copper tones all around. I see your perfect, full pink lips, and the way they scream to be tasted. I see the faint scars that cover you, but make you who you truly are now. Beautiful and strong. So now, to answer your questions, Claire. Yes, I see the beauty this world has to offer; all I had to do was see you.”

“It doesn’t make you weak if you accept your weakness. It’ll make you braver.”

“I know I’m not perfect, but maybe I’m willing to try and let myself be free. If it gets hard, you can always walk away. I don’t want to hold you down. All right?”
“Oh pretty girl, that’s where you’re wrong. You hold me together.”

“Don’t be afraid of them, they don’t bite. Well, Grams might try.”
“I heard that!” Grams yells. We look at each other and laugh.
“I swear her hearing is as good as a bat’s.”
“I heard that too, you spoiled child of my child!” This time we both laugh loudly.

I whisper into the dark room, “I see you, Claire.” Knowing it has more meaning to us than a four-letter word.

“Jake?” she says groggily.
“Claire.”
“You are enough for me.” Her response leaves me breathless. I’m at a loss for words as I try to compose myself. But when I finally have the courage to respond, I see the steady rise and fall of her chest.
“I love you, Claire.”

“How did you do it?” Liam wonders.
The room goes quiet, letting me know they all are waiting for my response.
“I just had to see beyond a blank wall.” I think of Claire, and a faint smile appears on my mouth as I continue, “She made me notice and appreciate something as simple as the grass or the curves of a tree trunk. She taught me to always pay attention to the details, because they are what makes the masterpiece. She made me see things differently. She gave me the ability to see from a different perspective.
“If it wasn’t for her, I would still see this world like I always had, dull and ordinary. I wanted to return the favor—I gave her something to see.”

Major Cuteness!

What Do You See? follows the story of Claire who had everything she ever wanted, every dream she wanted come true, tragically ripped away from her in the blink of an eye.

Jake makes a hard appearance into her life (literally) and everything Claire thought she didn’t want or couldn’t have might only be right in front of her, if only she would just open her eyes and see it.

This story combines heartbreak, love, loyalty, and pain and each page has you wanting to know more.

Can’t wait for the next book in this series!
