Divorced and done with her dry spell, Holly Prentice is ready to get back in the game. But with two conditions: her future mate can’t be married to his career, and he has to have a couch. Nick Andreis loves his job, and his only furniture is a king-size bed. He’s also single, sexy, and six years Holly’s junior. Any guy this hunky and carefree can’t be serious about the future.
After one spontaneous and explosive night, Holly decides that her search for Mr. Right can wait. Nick can be Mr. Right Now.
Nick has waited years for Holly. Now that she’s dating again, he’s determined to be the only man in her life. He wants what Holly wants: forever. Convincing her of that won’t be easy, but Nick agrees—with fingers crossed behind his back—to Holly’s idea that they can be bed buddies until someone serious comes along. His plan: use the time between their passionate nights to convince her that he is the one.
Will Holly’s unexpected pregnancy change the rules of their games? Or can they both decide to play for keeps?

****This book was part of a blog tour I received a copy for my honest review**** Holly is coming out of her self imposed hibernation after her divorce. She is 32 and ready to settle down, she wants the man, the stability, the kids. Nick has wanted Holly for years, he was friends with her and her husband when they were together and has wanted her to turn to him. He feels ready for a solid relationship with her. Problem is, he is 26 and Holly thinks he is too young to be tied down. This was a quick romance read. I liked the idea of the story, older woman fighting with herself to not fall in love with the younger man. In fact I love these sorts of love stories, with characters getting a second chance at a romantic life. In the Nick of Time gave me characters that were definitely unexpected. They were burdened by their past and definitely Holly, let that get in the way of her happiness. Both had there flaws which just made them more real in my eyes. I admit to being mad a both of them a different stages in this book, I was wishing that hard for their happiness that their decisions were frustrating me. I enjoyed this realistic love story, because lets face it, romance and happily ever after don't happen easily. We have to fight for them. Sylvie Fox's book is fast paced and engaging, and easy romance read for a lazy afternoon.
Just reading the description is enough said!. What is there not to love? Just what the Doctor would order: cold night, steamy book, and a cup of cocoa. Holly Prentice is ready to date. Nick is what you can classify as typical male. Well I take it back he changes when he hooks up with Holly. Nicks game of convincing Holly he is her "one" is great! The way his mind works and his delivery is fun and fabulous! Sometimes the friends with benefits things work out for the best. Maybe they can just be that until something else comes along. I guess it is fun to see Holly and Nick try!
What I don't like is the description giving away a reveal. The cat is out of the bag and Holly is pregnant. So ignore you know that information and enjoy a funny, cute, sexy and romantic book!
Divorced and tired of the self-imposed celibate life, Holly Prentice is ready to continue the search for Mr. Right, and she’s got a few requirements for the contenders out there. Namely, he can’t be married to his job, and must have a comfy couch in addition to the bed. When Nick Andreis, an old friend from her past walks into her life looking good enough to devour, Holly decides that maybe a Mr. Right Now might not be such a bad arrangement.
Nick has been in love with Holly for years, and this man six years her junior and owner of a couch-less house is doing everything he can to convince her that his status of Mr. Right Now should change into Mr. Right Forever. When passions and unexpected life changes collide, however, it’s anyone’s guess whether these two lovers can stand the test of time.
Overall Impressions
My overall impression of this book is rather mixed. I thoroughly enjoyed the more realistic depiction of the dynamic relationship between the two main characters. It was also a refreshing change to see a more realistic understanding of how both of them would deal with an unexpected pregnancy in a different way. The overall impression of the relationship was one that was routed in reality, but still with the passion that most people desire.
However, there were times in the story when the cadence of the writing seemed somewhat forced, almost as if the author was trying to fulfill a word count quota. For example, there were a number of instances when the color of the heroine’s eyes were described- either as honey amber, brown with gold flecks, et cetera. It was if the author was afraid that I would forget that her eyes were light brown. Also, there were a number of almost clichéd expressions that made it into the book such as “…. holding her as if she was the most precious, breakable crystal….”. However, thankfully they were few and far between.
Overall impressions- definitely a book to put on your to borrow list, and if you enjoy romances where the heroine is a little more experienced it is a respectable choice.
Rating system: 0 Stars – Great for kindling or wasting space on your hard drive 1 Star – Perfect gift for that person you can’t stand 2 Stars – Put it on your to Borrow list 3 Stars – Buy it if you get the chance- worth a weekend read. 4 Stars – This is definitely something to add to your library 5 Stars – Impulse Buy Approved.
So. When I read the blurb on this book, my first thought was...Jackpot! Just the type of setup I like. Low on angst, high on hero in pursuit. Perfect! Until I got to about halfway through the book (which is where I am currently) and just had to share some thoughts.
The hero: young, successful, gorgeous and sickeningly in love. Just the type of guy I love. I would give my pinky to get a guy like this. Sure, we didn't get to see him cross from the friendship with the married woman to the infatuation with the subsequently divorced woman, but I got a sense that it grew. And that was great! No sudden falling in love...a gradual slide that he didn't try to run from. Great.
But then...
The heroine. Everything I hate about romance novels. She's got this great, gorgeous, younger guy who obviously has a thing for her and instead of trying to figure out what's really going on in his heart, she relegates him to the boy toy while she searches for Mr. Right. She just pissed me right the fuck off! I mean, this guy is obviously, at the very least, infatuated with you and you're using him as a booty call while you date other guys? And let's not forget...when he asks for exclusivity, what does he get? "I'm not looking for a serious relationship right now." The fuck??!! In that sme conversation, she told him that she was on a date with the other guy because she was ready to start back dating seriously! How are you ready for a serious relationship on a date with a guy you don't know but not ready for anything serious with the guy you know, like, and are banging? For an older woman, she was a down right ass! And you know what, I am positive that if he was dating some other chick, she'd be pissed off and hurt. But it's fine when she's the one doing it? You want a marriage and kids? Have you asked him if he does too? No! Just assume that he's a player though he's trying to be monogamous! Like, seriously....ahhhhhhhh! I cannot stand her! I'm gonna finish read this book, and hope she gets her head on right sometime soon and hopefully it becomes a favorite of mine.
I mean, the setup is awesome, but that woman! Woo-sah...I really hope I end up liking this and she grows a brain. Seriously. Please. If there is a god, let this book become what I thought it would be.

Why, oh, why, oh, why….I loved the beginning of this book, but then I was just so mad at her and then at him, I found myself powering through till 3am to make sure their happily ever after came to fruition
I love a second chances love story. So think of a marriage gone south and the younger (much hotter) friend of the ex-husband stepping in and making all your wild fantasies come true. Then just when he has you believing in all his candyland stories, he pulls the rug out from under you and leaves you hanging…literally
“I love you, but…” does not work for me in real life or my books. Nick’s character was all in with two feet and his full heart, but then, bam! Gone. I totally did not understand him, his motivation or his lack of follow through. Nick was not deep enough for my liking. He had issues, he really should have stayed and talked to Holly. And Holly doesn’t get off that easy either. That girl was a mess and only succeeded in dragging Nick into her mess and messing up his life. She really needed a wakeup call and she needed to stop floating through life at the whim of men.
Rant out. These two were good and steamy and that made the book. The whole first 2/3’s of Nick trying to woo Holly was awesome! Check this book out and then tell me what you all think…Enjoy!
she went out just for a night out but alcohol and common sense do not work together. She has a book up with her ex former intern. It was just to be fun until she find she is pregnant. What will she do now? Will she tell him? Will she run? See what will happen

O.K I thought this book was pretty good but there were some frustrating parts in it for me.
First I got frustrated with Holly being so stubborn and saying that she wants to commit and the whole she bang but then when Nick offers her that she chooses not to see it and keep sugar coating it with the whole age debacle. I wanted to tear my head out when he kept offering and then she kept spewing about these stupid rules.
Once Holly actually believes Nick and lets him in and loves him then BAM Nick steps back because this was not the timing of how he wanted things to go in his life and now he's not sure WTF? I may have started to grind my teeth at this point but thankfully Nick and Holly found the proper bridge back to one another.
It's crazy how we put so much on perception and how we think things should be instead of seeing and appreciating what is in front of us. With Nick and Holly if they just loved each other and didn't get stuck on so many notions they would have had such an easier time finding their HEA but if this was the case than it would have been a novella. LOL
In the beginning I found nick to be a really sweet and romantic. He was such a cute romantic, he was very patient with holly. When holly was still married to his mentor, drew, he developed a crush holly. Of course she was married, and he didn't want to become a home wrecker.
It's been a year since holly divorced her now ex husband, drew. She's currently 32 years old and she really wants to settle down and have kids of her own.
Ok good storyline, but there were also parts of this book that just really frustrated me. Nick is 26, 6 years younger than Holly. I don't like how holly felt like she knew what was best for nick. Nick is obviously pouring out his heart for her, and she's basically saying its just a phase and it'll pass when someone else shows up. For a majority of this book nick is trying to show holly how perfect they are for each other.
THEN a twist happens and the tables completely flip. Nick is now the one backing away from their relationship, and it just disappoints holly because she was FINALLY ready to make the relationship work between them. These 2 just really frustrated the hell out of me.
I did like the side characters though. I found Sophie to be quite the intriguing character. And Dominic is just a nice man. Nick is lucky to have him as a father.
Thy do eventually get their HEA, but it took some time, and you need the patience to not want to punch out the characters. *this copy was given to me in exchange for an honest review
The characters are frustrating: Holly whines about how much she wants a relationship and tells the guy who wants to have one with her that she's not looking for anything serious. That doesn't stop the 2 from jumping into bed every 10 minutes. They sure get along well in the sack, but that doesn't do much to develop the story.
Holly makes such a big deal about Nick being younger than her. Who cares? It's only a few years.
Nick pursues her with all he has, and when she caves, he runs....What? Oh boy....convoluted story, frustrating characters.....
Its one of those stories that makes you wish and hope. Although theres an age difference, the chemistry and love shines through. Holly's past relationship and the lost of her 1st child affected them a lot. Nick's lack of maturity to accept an unplanned pregnancy in their your relationship almost lost them the chance at being together. In the end, he accepted and love them both and opted to win her hand in marriage. Such a simple yet wonderful story. Good job sylvia!
Impasse is the first book that I have read by Sylvie Fox and I was not sure what to expect. The story description looked interesting in that it is an older woman and a younger man, only by 6 years but all the same it is a nice change in the romance story environment, so I thought I would give it a read. The story centers around Holly who was divorced a year ago and is trying to pick up the pieces of her life. At a friend's house party she meets Nick, who used to be her ex's assistant. Nick apparently has always had a thing for Holly and he starts to pursue her. However, Holly does not want to be anything other than friends as she is still ready to find a partner and start a family life and she does not think Nick is ready for this. On the flip side Nick is quite mature and is pursuing his career fully, along with being a bit successful. So let's just say that Nick finally wins her over and they start a torrid little relationship.
But as with all great romance books a monkey wrench gets thrown into the workings for Holly and Nick in the form of the "oops we slipped" form. Nick does what Holly feared and disappears on her leaving her high and dry in a situation she did not expect to be in. Holly does something that really makes wake up and realize that he wants not only her but also their little bambino. But all is not so simple as Holly does not just welcome Nick back into her life with open arms and thighs. Nope little Nick is going to have to earn his way back in and prove to Holly that he just had a "moment" and it won't happen again. The question then becomes will he be able to prove to Holly and will she accept him back with an open heart.
I liked the writing and story line along with the characters and details of Impasse. It was quite realistic as the main thread of the story does happen to a lot of women, but not everyone has an HEA. So I was rooting for Holly and Nick to find theirs in what ever fashion it would take and I was not disappointed.
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
“Impasse” is Sophie’s best friend, Holly’s story and it overlaps with some of the details from “Unlikely,” book one.
Holly has placed her dating life on hold since her divorce from her ex-husband, Drew. Then she runs into one of Drew’s friends, Nick at a party. Nick is five years her junior but he has always been attracted to Holly. Now that she is divorced he has every intent on pursuing her.
While Holly is attracted to Nick she is afraid the age difference is too significant for her to overcome. In her mind he is still sowing his wild oats and she wants to settle down, get married again and start a family. Yet, she can’t fight her attraction to him especially since he is so persistent. However, all of this changes when Holly finds out she is pregnant.
Nick is struggling with the news and needs some time to adjust. Holly takes that as a sign she will have to raise her baby alone. Unfortunately, her pregnancy may be in jeopardy. Now, Holly will truly get to see what Nick is really made of.
While I enjoyed this read, Nick acted like a jerk after discovering the pregnancy. However, really got tired of all of the indecisiveness of both characters throughout this read. First it is Holly and then it was Nick. I was starting to get whiplash. At this point I am not sure if I will be going on with the series. There is too much character thought and insufficient dialogue for me. However, I recommend that you read it for yourself and decide.
Almost instant push and pull and a lot of heartache - 3,5*
That was one of not so many books where there's younger man and older woman trope that I've read. I do not avoid them but I think they are not so common in the romance world. While I really liked both hero and heroine I couldn't at the beginning get on board fully with the story line. If it wasn't for Sophie and Nick's dad I have an impression like this book could fell flat but luckily at the end I very much enjoyed story of Holly and Nick. From previous book I thought these two characters would be completely different. I'm not even sure how but somewhere around being more mature and more sure of themselves and being sure about what they wanted. The story line is quite interesting but not so fresh either. Younger is pursuing the older in order to convince her to give them a chance in happiness. Wary after her marriage and divorce she doesn't want to let him in. When unthinkable happens it all goes south and Holly is convinced that what she was afraid of will now materialize. She's going through a lot and Nick's behaviour is not helping. Ending felt a little bit forced but all in all it was quite a good read where I could really feel for Holly shedding some tears in the process.
The more I read, the more this book pissed me off. At the beginning it was Holly, who kept saying she wanted to settle down, in a long term relationship and start a family, but she wouldn’t consider doing that with Nick because he was 6 years younger and “only 26”. However, Nick’s all in at the beginning and has been in love with her for ages, and pulls out all the stops to get her to agree to a serious relationship. Then all of a sudden, as soon as she’s pregnant, he thinks about not being able to sow “wild oats” and how a baby will hinder his career. Then the doctor pissed me off, because Holly has a medical complication with the pregnancy and he tells her that they have to do surgery to stop her losing the baby, but the down side is bed rest and absolutely no sex. She says, absolutely, whatever will save my baby, but the doctor says, don’t you want to call the father and include him in the decision, and her best friend says, yes, this decision is going to affect him too! I’m sorry, how is this a difficult decision?
This felt like the author was creating drama wherever she could for the sake of it. These two were so messed up, by the end I was over them and their drama and just wanted them to go their separate ways.

I am voluntarily writing this review for this book I received through Booksprouts arc.
Not since her ex husband Holly had put her sex life on hiatus but her girlfriend Sophie decided she should change that. Sophie and Holly got to the party. It was really a drag when people asked about her ex. Holly went outside to sit and an old friend of their came up to her. Nick was mentored by her ex husband Drew. Holly asked about his house so Nick decided to take to see how his house was looking after the renovation. Nick had to make sure she was comfortable with him he has wanted to be with Holly. Nick was younger than Holly and that was a bit of a problem for her. Finally her friend Sophie told her to enjoy what is going on with Nick. Nick was finishing up his documentary and was going to New York with his partner. Holly finds out a little surprise was waiting to come out. Holly needed to talk to Nick and tell him what was going on. Nick’s documentary had been well received in New York and he and his partner were thinking about their next project. Can Holly deal with all that is going on in her life? This is the second book I read from this author and was not disappointed
The blurb made this book sound interesting. But the blurb lied. Holly goes on and on about how Nick wouldn't be a stand up guy and he just wants to sow his wild oats and she wants a family and etc. But at no point does Nick even come across as a manwhore. It is the opposite in fact. He constantly tells her he wants to be with her and their first intimate encounter, when they both forget to use protection, he even says I will take care of anything that happens. Holly just keeps saying she doesn't want to marry another 26 year old, but she got married when she was 26 and while her husband wasn't awesome as far as the work life balance, he never cheated on her. So none of her 'fears' are founded.
And can all authors please listen- people don't actually say 'Wow you are so responsive' while having sex. Seriously. The descriptions in this book would go from over describing to the bare minimum and it made it hard to keep up, like over describing the scent of flowers and purses to there is an event that she needs volunteers for but it isn't clear what the event even is until they are done with it. I just couldn't get through it.
Beautiful and sweet romance I thought it was a beautiful and sweet romance, but with a little too much doubt between the characters of Nick and Holly. Between the exaggerated problem of the age difference for Holly (seriously, 6 years is not much), and Nick who thinks he is mature enough for a real relationship, then in fact, no, but maybe that if ... .. short ... .. all this questioning gave me the impression of dragging in length. In the end, the story is well written, and basically cute. Holly is 32 years old and has been divorced for a year when she meets Nick who was working with her husband and is 6 years younger than her. Quickly Nick tries to seduce her because he loves her for a long time, but between her divorce and their age difference, Holly thinks it can't be more than a fling, and Nick pushes for a long relation, and vice versa. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
Would read again? - Probably not First book from this author. Nice, short read. Enjoyed overall. Pretty shocked/annoyed how Nick started off trying so hard to convince Holly to start a serious relationship, talking about marriage and kids, yet as soon as she discovered she was pregnant he "needs more time". While I enjoyed their connection, IMO the ending felt a bit rushed. How can Nick go from not talking/seeing Holly for weeks to randomly proposing after just an argument? Also, I didn't really like the way Holly handled the situation. I understand that she was trying to be the mature one and not force Nick into something he didn't want but c'mon he was the one that was pushing her to be with him in the beginning and now he suddenly changes his mind??

A good read. I read it in less than 24 hours and enjoyed the unique relationship that developed between Nick and Holly. The issues that were brought up such as age differences and the consideration of single motherhood could be easily related to. The only thing I didn't really like was the way Nick got cold feet once he learned that he was going to be a father. It just didn't seem in line with the emotinal maturity he demonstrated throughout the book. Still enjoyable. I will definitely look into the other books in the series. Recommended.

The plot is realistic, it doesn't present the characters through rose color lenses and the characters are flaw in real ways. Holly is 32, recently divorced and looking for Mr. Right after a self-imposed dry spell. Nick is 26, a gorgeous guy, successful and crazily attracted to Holly but alas "he's too young and not ready to settle".

Holly is 32, Nick is 26. She is divorced but is ready to move on and have a family, he has always wanted this woman who also happens to be the ex wife of his former mentor. Can he convince her that they are more than a no strings attached hook up? And when the twist happens, is he ready for it? Good, hot, emotional read!!

I found this to be a superb storyline that grabs you right from the start keeping you engrossed and on edge throughout the whole book!
I was very impressed with how simply and effortlessly this author told this addicting, multi-layered story with well-developed world building and great characters.
I received a free copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily.
First you have the guy, Nick, crazy in love with Holly, a slightly older woman. He wants it all-marriage, family, kids. Until, that is, until Holly finds out she’s pregnant. Then it’s I’m not sure, I’m not ready, I’ve got plans. The change in attitude did not make sense, felt like the author did the change just to stretch out the story. Ok read but not great.
This is the first time I've read a book by this author, and I enjoyed it. The characters were interesting, well-developed and have chemistry. The story is interesting, well-written, with a happily ever after. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I liked this couple and it was well written really brought LA to life. I just wish their relationship hasn't been so up and down he wanted her then panicked so glad they got their HEA but felt a bit rushed .
Really good story. Overall quality of writing was good too. No cheating or cliffhanger and you get a happy ending. The epilogue was short, sweet and simple. Not bad, just felt rushed especially since when each needed time, it seemed drugged out.
Okay read which had the potential to be better. Couldn’t understand both characters looking for family and permanent relationship yet the pregnancy causes an issue. Dragged out too long and then abrupt epilogue.
I LOVED Holly. Being a wife and mother should be valued, and watching Nick come to that realization was such a relief! I loved reading about their relationship growing , but shed a lot of tears along the way.
