Wild Horse Westerns #3

Wild Horse on the Run

Rate this book
Wild Horse On The Run is the highly anticipated third book in the Wild Horse Westerns series.  It joins #1 bestseller novels on Amazon in Westerns, Where The Wild Horses Roam and Spirit Of The Wild Horse.

A drifter in a saloon by the name of Gideon Johann has a profound effect on those at the Langley ranch when Levi Bolander finds he hasn’t outrun his past and Caroline Gunnar tries to help a friend escape her abusive husband.  Gideon and Caleb Gunnar might not see eye to eye all the time, but they’ll do whatever is necessary to protect the people at the ranch.  All the while, Caroline and Bluebird long to start families amidst all the chaos. Back in Tennessee, Caleb’s sister, Britt, comes to realize there just might be a chance to find love after all.

Duane Boehm has written another western novel with enough humor, heartbreak, love, and outlaws to keep you turning the page. Wild Horse On The Run can be read as a stand-alone novel, but will provide a richer reading experience if the Wild Horse Western series is read in order.

Duane Boehm grew up on a farm outside of Petersburg, Illinois. All the time spent driving a tractor gave him plenty of opportunity to let his imagination run wild and not tear up too much equipment. The two passions he developed early in life were the love of playing guitar and reading books.

He eventually moved to a mini-farm outside of Murfreesboro, Tennessee with his wife and replaced planting corn with trees and raising dogs. For a number of years he worked as an IT consultant and continued with being a part-time musician and songwriter. He dabbled in writing short stories with the idea in the back of his mind that someday he would write a novel. One Christmas after watching "A Christmas Carol", he was inspired to begin his journey as a novelist.

Great Book.

This is the Second Book I’ve read by this author. The second in the series. The characters are completely filled out: like Caleb and Joey. Caleb’s sister Britt - back home with her kids and their parents close by. Caleb and Caroline are married and with aBlessing on the way. This book introduces (me) to to Gideon Johann; a fascinating and mysterious good man. I don’t want to retell the story...just let me say - if you like Westerns, Good people, and try to understand and accept life; then you’ll really enjoy reading this author’s works. Thanks for a Great Book!!!

Book 3 of this series and it is really good! For readers of the Gideon Johann series, this predates Last Chance by a bit. We get a good look at Gideon as he saves Levi's life in a bar and ends up working at the Langley ranch. With Gideon and Caleb both like to make decisions, you know it will be a lively time. Plus, now that they are in the cattle business too, they have to deal with rustlers. Back home in Tennessee, Caleb's sister Brit is getting along quite well with the lawyer that handled her case after her deceased husband's family tried to sue her. That family causes her and her parents a good deal of problems.

All good

Just finished reading three book collection. Lives meeting Caleb and his family, Then Joey, Calif on Langly ranch. Then Gidian joins the group, While several running from one demans. I'm not sure I'm reading in order since at end talks about Gidian returning his family and friends. But very good plots of so many emerged brought excitement, tears, laughter. Hope read more.

Old grudges lead to fast guns and kidnapping before peace returns

An excellent series with outstanding and colorful characters in days before local law enforcement was around to stop those who would prey on the helpless and innocent. Plenty of twists as this horse ranch brings in cattle and neighbors reveal prejudice and hatred that no one suspected. Fascinating and well worth the time

I loved this series of books. Very gripping and the characters were fun and lovinkept meg. The story line kept me engaged. I really enjoyed that Gideon Johann was intoduced in this story line. I have already read all of the Gideon Johann's books and enjoyed reading about him before he had been reunited with his best friend and true love from when he was a young man. Really loved the connection. Duane Boehm is becoming one of my favorite authors.

I tend to read one of these western stories on a weekly basis, good fun reads.

Really enjoyable book! Good and accurate storyline! Excellent characters!

I gave it five stars because I know everything in the book could have happened. You told a story and It was very believable. And of course, I like it when the bad guys get their just rewards. But in the future please make sure you don't use any mild oaths or questionable words. Other than that it is perfect!

Another Great Read BUT…

I loved every book in this series! As i finished reading this book, i am disappointed! I feel like it should not have ended without having another book to tie up some loose ends. I especially want to know more about Gideon. He’s a great character and deserves to have more written about him. I feel like I know him and don’t want his story to end. Please write more…
I’m not the only reader to feel this way. Check the other reviews!

Excellent as Usual

I always enjoy Duane's books. The writing is excellent with seldom a typo. Storylines are well thought out, and there is enough action. But what makes his work special is his character development. His western books are interesting character studies that happen to take place in the old west. His characters always have substance, and many are quite endearing.

Another great story from Boehme

This was the last in a 3 book series - although I can always hope for yet another. The storyline is compelling so I found it hard to put down u til I was done. And then sad it was over. Looking forward to reading another by home - can't wait to find out the story behind Gideon Johann 😁

Surprise!

If you like to be surprised as you read then this 3 book series just may be what you're looking for. The inclusion of the Gideon Johann character opens up some possibilities for future volumes. Perhaps the biggest surprise involves Gideon near the end of the book. Lots of good will and the harsh reality of old west justice highlight this book.

As usual, an excellent story

After reading the very fine Gideon Johann series, there was no way I was NOT going to read the Wild Horse precis series This series of three books was a perfect lead-in to the Johann books. Well done, Duane Boehm!

Enjoy Duane Boehm's books although this one started somewhat slowly. It serves as s nice prequel to the Gideon Johann Series.

Action Packed

(Spoiler alert) Another good story about the all lives surrounding Caleb Gunnar.
It was great too, to fill in more of the gaps of the “lost years” of Gideon Johan.
