Solid novella. When successful builder Brent is in dire need of a new designer for his latest project he decides to take a chance on Kara and it’s dang near love at first sight.
This was an enjoyable read. I don’t read a ton of novellas because they’re just a little to short for me. This was a similar feeling. While I liked the story and characters I felt things moved fast and would’ve liked a little more time with them.
We’re told Brent is a hard ass and hard to work with but we never see it. All we see of him is really an actually sweet guy. Kara is an awesome designer and pretty funny, but she has trust issues it seems. This is something we don’t really get to spend much time on.
I enjoyed this novella even though it was shorter story than I prefer. The hero is supposed to make people quake in their shoes but I never got that sense. The heroine was a kick ass interior designer looking for her first big gig, and the hero gave it to her. If the author revisits this couple I'd definitely read it.
This book was so cute and loving. I love me a good NOLA book. The insta love was so adorable. The characters had my attention throughout the story. I did have a wanna slap a character moment for a second but got over that.
