Emma has a pre arranged marriage. She doesn’t know her husband to be and her gut tells her that she shouldn’t marry him. So she runs away just before the wedding is supposed to start. She finds a boat in the harbor and hides away on it. Jackson is a rock and roll star and he is looking for some privacy and quiet. Not gonna happen when a sheltered princess winds up on your boat. But she convinces him to take her along for an adventure. He teaches her how to come out of her shell and be herself. But she has to face the music and her royal family sometime. Her mother doesn’t approve of her new self and let’s her know. But Emma is strong and eventually she gets her mom to come around with the help of Anna. Jackson however is doing what he thinks is best for her. But in the end he realizes he needs his muse to make music. Good story!

Emma è quinta nella linea di successione dei Rourke, è sempre stata la più ligia all’etichetta reale, il suo guardaroba farebbe invidia alla regina Elisabetta d’Inghilterra, a 16 anni ha accettato che i suoi genitori le scegliessero il suo futuro sposo e adesso, compiuti i 25 anni, il gran giorno è arrivato.
Ma Emma inizia ad avere delle perplessità: ha incontrato il principe ereditario Abdul Marjan di Kanei, suo promesso sposo, solo due volte e non si sono mai nemmeno sfiorati la mano. Starà facendo la cosa giusta?
Presa nei suoi pensieri, scende a vedere la sala del ricevimento, dove torreggia la torta nuziale sormontata dalla statuina dei due sposi, perfettamente realistica, non fosse che le due figurine sembrano innamorate; per guardarla meglio, la prende, ma le cade e alla donna raffigurata si stacca la testa. A Emma sembra un messaggio: questo matrimonio non le porterà la gioia sperata, così decide di darsi alla fuga. Però, sapendo di non poter andare lontano senza essere intercettata dalle guardie, decide di rifugiarsi in una barca disabitata (o almeno questa era la sua idea).
Individuata la barca che fa per lei, decide di scassinare la serratura (ma come, una principessa così a modino che sa scassinare una serratura? Qui gatta ci cova…) e, una volta entrata, si trasforma in Riccioli d’oro nella casa degli orsi: mangia cereali dal cartone sparpagliandoli sul pavimento, si ubriaca con la tequila trovata e si addormenta sul letto sfatto. Immaginate la sorpresa di Jackson Walker quando, rientrando da un giro di spese, si ritrova una principessa tutta arruffata nel suo letto. Sì, perché malgrado il travestimento lui la riconosce benissimo.
Jackson Walker è una rockstar e proprio un bel pezzo di manzo. Purtroppo, da che Charlie (componente della band nonché suo migliore amico) è morto per overdose, è caduto in depressione e si è rifugiato sulla barca di un amico per fuggire dai giornalisti e cercare di tornare a suonare e comporre; per contratto lui e il suo gruppo devono pubblicare un album, ma al momento non è minimamente in grado.
Quando trova la principessa Emma nel suo letto, capisce che è una grana che proprio non gli ci voleva e fa di tutto per farla scendere, compresa una proposta indecente, con cui è sicuro di farla scappare.
Emma, non prima di aver vomitato l’anima nel bagno di Jackson, capisce che è lui la persona perfetta per lei in questo momento: non vuole più essere una brava ragazza e chi meglio di una rockstar disinibita e piena di testosterone, per sperimentare quella parte di lei rimasta nascosta fin’ora?
Alla fine, dopo vari tira e molla, si ritroveranno a rifugiarsi in una villa sul lago di Como con Lukas a fare da babysitter e Jackson che si è impegnato a dare lezioni di chitarra ad Emma.
L’attrazione tra i due è forte e lei, in maniera un po’ timida, cerca di sedurlo; lui, però, sapendola vergine, si sforza di fare il gentiluomo, per altro non capendo i tentativi di seduzione della ragazza.
La situazione cambierà drasticamente quando Emma confesserà di aver avuto una storia d’amore all’università con la sua guardia del corpo, e quindi non è più la principessa vergine che tutti credono.
Questa notizia è quello che serviva a Jackson per togliersi ogni remora e quello che sperava Emma accade, superando ogni sua fantasia.
I due, in camera da letto, fanno fuoco e fiamme, le scene sono sempre molto conturbanti, anche se non manca mai un pizzico di humor.
Il vero problema sorgerà a vacanza finita: come faranno questa nuova Emma 2.0 e Jackson a reinserirsi a corte? Ma, soprattutto, Jakson sarà disposto a farlo, o per lui tutto questo è stato solo un piacevole interludio?
La Gilmore, anche in questa terza avventura, non si smentisce: la scrittura è fluente e divertente.
Se i primi due libri che parlavano di Gabriel e Phillip mi erano già piaciuti, questo li ha battuti, perché si sa: quando una brava ragazza decide di non esserlo più si avranno sicuramente delle sorprese.

So far, Royal Darling is my favorite of this series. A runaway princess bride and a rock star hiding from scandal? You got me!
I wasn't a fan of Jackson at first. I didn't quite get him, but it was fun to see these two different characters start to interact. Then when Emma begs him to teach her guitar, things really click. I'm a sucker for characters bonding over music, and all of a sudden, we get a better glimpse and understanding of Jackson.
I still wish we had more of his POV, but this book, it was so much. Two people who grew immensely together. They're such opposites, but in many ways, they're also alike. The ending, when Emma connected with her mother again got me in the feels.
Laughs, tears, and romance. Kylie Gilmore wins me over every time!

There's always room on my shelf for Kylie Gilmore. She steals the heart right out of your chest, then gives it back for safe keeping. I've fallen hard for those unpredictable, irresistibly addictive royals. The Rourkes know how to keep it cute, while losing control. Royal Darling gives readers a chance to follow a runaway bride into the arms of her bad boy prince. Emma and Jackson are worlds apart when it comes to life experience, but when it comes to matters of the heart, fate has a few plans of it's own.

Ed eccoci al terzo capitolo della saga dei Reali di Villroy Principessa alla riscossa!
Cosa succede quando una rock star inglese ed una principessa in fuga si scontrano? Rock and Roll ragazzi!
Siamo in Italia in una villa blindata di una star Hollivoodiana sul Lago di Como, Emma e Jackson in fuga dai paparazzi si rifugiano qui per motivi diversi. Emma scappa dallo scandalo di aver lasciato all'altare il sultano suo promesso sposo, un matrimonio combinato dalle famiglie reali. Jackson invece fugge dal suo mondo trasgressivo per poter ritrovare una normalità, ma soprattutto ispirazione per il suo nuovo album.
Entrambi così diversi, ma in realtà sono più simili di quanto pensano. Scappano dal loro senso di inadeguatezza verso la vita che conducono.
Questo libro è diverso dai primi tre capitoli della saga, la storia di Emma è più introspettiva,
racconta la sua voglia di riscoprire se stessa al di là del suo ruolo di principessa e soprattutto cercare di ricucire il rapporto con la madre.
Quindi signori e signore, Rock and Roll!

Emma is the perfect princess. She does everything that is expected of her. She's prim, proper and all about protocol. She's been engaged to Prince Abdul since she was 16. She's is now 25 and her wedding day is upon her. However, she's having second thoughts. She feels nothing for him. But she must do what is expected of her and what is best for the kingdom. Or does she? An hour before her wedding...... She flees and stows away on a houseboat.
Enter bad boy rocker Jackson. Here's hiding out because of his own scandal. He wants her off his boat. She's already deleted his Cocoa Puffs supply. He even tried propositioning her to scare her away, but she accepts. He puts his foot down. She's leaving when they dock in Nantes. But when the press attacks Emma, Jackson steps in.
Now they are headed to a hideaway with Emma's brother, Lucas (aka her babysitter) and her security detail. They don't even know each other. What a mess!

Fantastic! This was such a roller-coaster ride of self discovery and personal growth. It was such a pleasure to see the changes for both Emma and Jackson from beginning to end. They were both facing their own personal demons and were doing their best to cope and find a way out. The ending of course was perfect, Kylie really knows how to tie things up just right. The moment you think everything is lost and there is no way things could work out favorably, BAM, she swoops in and makes it all better. This might just turn into my go-to novel for those days when you just need a little pick-me-up and feel-good mojo. I am really looking forward to Royal Charmer. I'm hooked on this series already!

Wow!! This book like the previous two (let's be honest anything Kylie Gilmore has written) was fantastic. I didn't think I would connect with Emma. She was stiff, serious, and too regal but after a couple of chapters I was enjoying the book so much through her point of view. Jackson was so easy to like, but it's Emma's character that lights up the book. If you are reading this because you don't know whether to read this book, don't look any further. You won't regret it.

Un troisième tome toujours aussi addictif que les deux premiers. À chaque opus, je m’attache de plus en plus aux membres de la famille Rourke. Je suis sous le charme, j’adore cette série.
L’histoire d’Emma et Jackson monte lentement en intensité mais une fois le voile enlevé, cela devient très intense et torride. Oui, oui, vous avez bien entendu. J’ai bien dit torride car sachez que la princesse Emma que nous avons rencontrée dans les deux premiers tomes va laisser place à une nouvelle Emma. Cette jeune femme m’a beaucoup touché, elle s’est toujours plié aux exigences royales mais au final, elle n’a jamais pu être elle-même. Lorsqu’elle se « trouve » enfin, c’est beau et intense de la voir s’épanouir. Jackson va beaucoup aider dans ce processus mais mon dieu, quelle femme saine d’esprit ne se laisserait pas tenter par cet homme. Il est Canon, torturé, arrogant mais il est également, gentil, tendre, protecteur bref un condensé qui regroupe l’homme parfait. Je suis tombée sous son charme. J’ai adoré voir ces deux-êtres que tout oppose se rapprocher et évoluer ensemble jusqu’à former un tout parfait.
Quel plaisir de retrouver tous les personnages et le palais. Depuis qu’Anne est entré dans la vie de Gabriel, les choses évoluent en mieux tout comme la mentalité du royaume. Rien n’est simple mais j’adore faire partie de tout ça. L’auteure continue de me transporter dans ces récits et cela devient de plus en plus addictif. Je reproche toujours cette façon qu’elle a de passer certaines scènes trop rapidement ou de passer du coq-à-l’âne sans que l’on ne connaisse les sentiments de tout le monde mais arrivé au troisième tome, je commence à m’habituer.
Un tome qui m’a paru plus addictif que les deux autres. C’est intense, profond et bouleversant. Décidément, j’adore cette série et la famille Rourke. J’ai hâte de connaitre la suite en découvrant l’histoire de Lucas, le célibataire le plus convoité du royaume et de pouvoir tomber sous son charme également. Pas vous?!

I just couldn’t put this book down!! And starting the read at night, I went up to 3AM until I finished it. Emma is such a proper princess and when she got cold feet on her arranged wedding day, she run and was totally lost. Jackson was a mutt turned rock star, a rebel, not the preferred son of a single mom, he never even thought about love, romance or a family from his own. Their encounter didn’t bring any sparkle and both were very sure they were from very different universes. But Emma, lost as she was, only knew she needed to reinvent herself completely and Jackson seemed to be an opportunity for her to experience on the opposite spectrum. But running away from everything and living together for a little while showed them their inner self and out of the royal palace or the spotlight, they learned they had some deep important things in common and were indeed very attracted to each other. This book made me cry in my pillow when they finally had to face the real world and their passion and their differences seemed to big to overcome. Kylie Gilmore is an expert in creating great characters, full of layers and to take us on a journey with them to rediscover themselves and find their true love and forever happiness!!! I’m so in love with the Rourkes and can’t wait to see what’s about to happen with Lucas, Emma’s second older brother!

With Jackson, Emma discovers a love & talent for music that brings her more joy than anything in her life. Jacksonville n rediscovers his music but with a different tone. Now that reality & Emma’s royal family are intruding, can Emma & Jackson find a way to stay together or will they just go on their separate paths the way they planned?
Ms. Gilmore digs deep beneath the surface of her characters to give her readers the best understanding of them possible. Emma appears the perfect Princess but who knew she needed to break free & become herself. This series brings home the concept that the royals are just like everyone else with their fears & expectations but they stress over different things than the public does. This was a sexy, entertaining story that was a joy to read.

Emma has always thought to be the Rourke that truly understood the importance of her station and as such agreed to a marriage arranged with the intent of offering an alliance that will hopefully bring prosperity to her country. However, at the last minute, she can't rationalize the idea and does the most irrational thing she's ever done which leads her to Jackson, a man that makes her feel alive for the first time in a long time. Will their feelings be enough to survive the real world instead of the paradise they've created for themselves?

Desperate to find somewhere she can go where no one will see her, she finds a houseboat and breaks in. Jackson is a rock star who had lost himself and his passion for music. When he finds Emma on his boat he recognizes her even though she tries to hide who she is. Emma just want to be herself for a little while so she convinces Jackson to let her go on the trip he is taking. Jackson realizes she is looking for what he is looking for. A chance to find himself. So he agrees to give Emma guitar lessons. Two people from two entirely different backgrounds find they have more in common than they could have ever imagined. But she is royalty and he is not. So what are they supposed to do?

This was a wonderful and intriguing story of two people who connected even though they were complete opposites in their lifestyles. Emma was a rather stiff princess who was taught to be stodgy. Her arranged marriage was not going to happen because Emma knew it was wrong. She accidentally met Jackson when trying to escape. But it definitely was not love at first sight. All of this was just delicious to read. Jackson and Emma had a bumpy road when they first met. But their love of music paved the way for love to blossom. I would recommend this book for anyone who lots romance but also someone who doesn’t mind a lot of starts and stops. Someone who loves life a little messy. This book is definitely a favorite of mine. This is my second book in this series though I’ve read others by Kylie Gilmore.

Royal Darling is the perfect name for Princess Emma story in the Rourke series by Kylie Gilmore. Emma is a Royal Darling perfectly molded in the image of her mother and engaged since 16 to a prince from another kingdom to marry after her 25 birthday. On her wedding day she was given the chance to runaway and she stows away on a boat of bad boy rocker Jackson Walker. Emma’s story was my favorite! l loved how Emma is finding her voice and her own personality with the support of Jackson. Family and duty play an important part in Emma life plus her over protective brothers. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series of the Rourke of Prince Lucas. This book is one not to miss reading! I received this book as an arc for an honest review of it

It comes a time when the currently reality seems to be too much. You crash mentally and need that escape to find, YOU. That was the Emma and Jackson alike. Two lost souls who had to answer to different "publics" and "standards" one of royalty and one of fans.
The journey was the same but the courses were different as well as enlightened. I enjoyed them together. The exploration and finding of music, love, and themselves. Two halfs to a whole no one understood but Anna apparently. You couldn't not relate to this book because everyone has struggled with grief, acceptance, and needing time to regroup as grow.
Kylie made it sexy but hit on so many topics that people as a whole struggle with and escape to find daily.

Royal Darling is another fun and exciting story, This is book three and just as wonderful as the first two. I absolutely love Kylie Gilmore she has a way with her words that grab you and pull you into her stories and this was no different. The characters are most definitely sexy and very entertaining and for me very adorable. I just have to say I loved Jackson and Emma they were a very delightful surprise their bantering was just so much fun it was a story that kept me hooked till the end. All I can say is wow another great book for some summer reading. I 100% loved and recommend this great story. I can’t wait for more from The Rourkes. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and fell for it I had to buy it.

A child can do a parent's bidding up to a given point. When that mark is defined, and the child becomes a rational thinking adult, then it may appear that they are rebelling against the adults in their world. It's not so much rebelling but trying to find where their own feelings and ideas fit in what they want their life to be. They may have a few awkward false starts, but eventually, they will stand tall on their own two feet, moving to their destination.
Yeah, there is a young princess who finally realises she isn't happy with her mother's image of her.
She runs, and it is a marvellous story that then unfolds.

This book used the f-word liberally which seemed more appropriate the books 1 and 2. I enjoyed Emma discovering herself outside of being a princess and Jackson’s journey of self-worth.

I was waiting to read Emma's book and I read this book before the 2nd book.
The book had potential and it was fun too read but I wasn't convinced with the ending.
The climax was too abrupt because it showed that Emma acceptedthat Jackson left her without a good bye and tried to move on with her life and then suddenly he comes back and confesses his love and we have a happy ending. May be if we had his POV about how he struggled and then decided to win her back it would have made more sense.
Even how they suddenly entered into a sexual relationship was unconvincing.
I liked the starting part and the build up b/w them.

Bello bello!! Un libro davvero leggero come i primi due. Troviamo tutta la famiglia Rourke con i loro modi di fare e le loro avventure, ma in particolare troviamo Emma la principessa ligia al dovere cresciuta a immagine e somiglianza della madre. Ma a un certo punto questa vita le sta stretta e scappa, incontra Jackson un musicista rockettaro che si sta nascondendo per creare la musica che lo ha lasciato da un po'. Sono completamente diversi sulla carta eppure sono molto simili nella realtà, ciò che li unisce è la musica che entrambi scoprono solo stando insieme. Non vedo l'ora di leggere gli altri *-*. 5 stelle

Prim and proper Princess Emma does a run away bride act!! This is when she lands on the same boat as lead singer and rock god Jackson from the famous group Ignite!! These two could not be more different but they both have broken hearts!! When they spend time together the music heals their hearts and opens them to the love they have for each other!! With a few obstacles to stumble over, these two learn they can make beautiful music together!! I love this Rourke family and can't wait to absorb the rest of this series!! Don't hesitate people to go buy this fabulous book!!
