Phillip I never expected to be the prime target of a bachelor auction, compliments of my outrageous sister-in-law, the new queen. I don’t care if the internet has turned me into a royal hottie meme, I am not a piece of meat. So when the first eager single woman arrives at the palace, I send her packing. Only the damn woman refuses to leave.
Ruby Why would I want to buy a date with an arrogant rude prince? I’m here to do a job, which I desperately need, and no delusional prince is going to stand in my way. Obviously, the “royal hottie” believes the hype. So how did I end up winning the top prize in a royal bachelor auction, and what will I do with him? I can’t let myself fall for a playboy. Besides, we’re heading in opposite directions. He’s going on an international tour for a year or more, and I absolutely have to get back to the US. Only this prince is used to getting what he wants, and now he wants me.

Gabriel and Anna have just been crowned King and Queen and now are off on their Honeymoon. While on their honeymoon, Anna's best friend Ruby whom is an Interior designer has been hired to decorate a part of the castle which Anna has created to be a Pamper Spa for guests in order to create a viable financial option for the country of Villroy. At the same time, Anna has just informed Philip that she has signed him up for a Bachelor Auction where the clients will be bidding for a date with the "Royal Hottie" and his brothers but Philip is the main attraction. When Philip sees Ruby, he thinks that she is one of the clients and tells her that he won't go on a date with her. They have this fiery first interaction and Philip calls Anna and she tells him to "Stay Away”. The book then moves to Ruby meeting Maya - one of the maids and talks about going shopping. Of course, though, they need someone who can speak French - Enter Philip O'Rourke who wants to show Ruby he isn't just the "Royal Hottie" and superficial. The three of them go shopping and during their time, Ruby starts to fall for Philip and eventually the pair kiss. The book then jumps to the auction with the O'Rourke Boys and Philip rigs the bidding of the auction. He flies to Paris with Ruby and they spend an amazing time together but of course, this HEA can't last forever as Philip is off on a 5-week charity tour and Ruby has to fly home as her business has the possibility of booming and she has a little sister on the way. Will Philip and Ruby find a way to make their romance last or was this just a fling? I am loving this series as one of my favourite tropes is the whole Royalty falling in love with commoners. If you love Royalty fiction and Cinderella type tales - then check out The O’Rourke’s series by Kylie Gilmore today - each Book features one of the O'Rourke siblings.
Royal Hottie is a fun book! I wondered if we'd get a story about Phillip when he showed up in the Happy Endings Book Club Series. So yay when I discovered we were!
Phillip is a little hard to read. He comes across as somewhat shallow, and the royal hottie label didn't help that. But there's so much more than what meets the eye with him, and I'm glad that during the story, we got more of that. He did tick me off in the end, but did his best to redeem himself.
I love Ruby. Then again, she's good friends with Anna. I feel they're both perfect for Villroy. The kingdom is in desperate need of things and I think these fresh faces from America breathe new life into this quaint place.
It was great to see more from the other siblings, and that way we get a tease of what's to come had me on the edge of my seat.
I think this would be a fun TV show. Someone needs to get on that. :)
There were many things I didn't like: 1. Ruby's character. For some one who has come out of a messy relationship and is averse to getting into a new one, she sure fell fast. At one page she said it would be better if there was nothing b/w them and on the next page itself she wanted to have sex with him.
2. Phillip's character. I think the guy was too full of himself. He glorified his work and belittled Ruby's job.It was his way or high way. Ruby is self-centered just because she wants to work and have her own life. Phillip was an A class jerk to her.
3. After saying some really nasty things to Ruby he suddenly realises that he is in love with her and goes to convince her. Earlier when he had belittled her she had left him and I thought that she finally grew a back bone but sadly I was wrong.Ruby seemed to have no self respect. He apologized and said he loved her and she took him back. They decided to get married. (Like, seriously.)

Philip O'Rourke second in line for the thrown is considered the "Royal Hottie" of the 4 princes of their country of Villroy. Ça, on adore!!!
With a first kiss that is OFF THE CHARTS this book was fun, entertaining and sexy! I love strong, independant women who are witty and delightful and, who quite unexpectedly, can turn a man's head and make him believe the impossible can truly be their reality.
With the younger generation leaving in droves for better opportunities, the small island country of Villroy is just one generation away from collapse. A legacy of vikings dating back centuries is in danger of dying off. Although Prince Phillip is determined to help his country anyway he can, he sees himself more as an ambassador for global aid, helping impoverished countries develop sustainable water sources. He knows his causes will take him away from his own country to better serve others but when his sister in law sends a friend to redesign a portion of the castle she will use for an exclusive spa that will regenerate tourism he is quickly smitten with the petite pixie. Now he must convince her that his cause to help improve water supplies for third world countries is far more important than her dream of owning a design business that only benefits snooty, wealthy women.
Ruby Evans may be tiny but she is bold, outgoing and determined to get her home design business off the ground. Remodeling a section of Villroy Castle for her friend's new spa will expose her to some exclusive future clients. All bets are off though when she meets the smug, obnoxious prince Phillip who is so full of himself he's become known as the Royal Hottie. From the first words out of his mouth it seems they rub each other the wrong way, yet they can't seem to slow or stop what is happening between them.
Both know nothing can come of the feelings stirring around them since Ruby is heading back to the US to grow her new business and Prince Phillip is leaving on several trips that will take him away for as long as a year. Forced into a bachelor auction to help his sister in law, Prince Phillip will do whatever it takes to swing the results his way, even though he knows he should stay away from the woman who is leaving soon.
I received an ARC and voluntarily offer this review.
Known as the Royal Hottie, Phillip Roarke is the second oldest in the royal family of Villeroy, an island kingdom off the coast of France. He is not at all amused to be conscripted into a mad scheme of his new sister-in-law to help bring commerce to their island. She wants to open up a high-end spa and to get the word out as well as raise some money, she has put together a bachelor auction made up of Phillip and his other unmarried brothers and puts the word out to some of her wealthy former hair clients. So it's no surprise that Phillip is rude to a woman that he assumes is there for the auction. He's surprised to find out that Ruby is actually a friend of his sister-in-law's, there to help redecorate the castle ahead of having her clients come in. She is sort of star-struck to meet the Royal Hottie but it turns into annoyance when he seems to be a big ol' jerk. However, he decides to pitch in and help her get everything together so that the auction will be a success. While working together, they start to realize that there may be an attraction there after all. Too bad Ruby doesn't have enough to bid... This one was really inconsistent and the timeline just made me feel like I had whiplash. Ruby was a schemer but she wasn't but she is. And we're going to jump forward in time but Phillip is a jerk but two sentences later realizes it. I liked both Ruby and Phillip but wish the story could have been smoothed out a bit more. This is also when I wish Goodreads had a more nuanced rating system because this book wasn't as good as the one after it which wasn't a four but this book wasn't quite a two.
Romance trope: royalty Series: The Rourkes Length: 160 pages
Plot: Phillip is known as the royal hottie, but there's more to him than that and he wants to prove that to everyone. That's why his sister-in-law's idea for a bachelor auction isn't something he wants to do Luckily, he meets Ruby and she intrigues him in ways he didn't expect. But he has his life and she has a completely different one and it doesn't look like they can mesh.
Commentary: Well, I'm pretty sure I would never get over the things he said to her when they had their big argument. I mean, she was mad, but she didn't stoop to the level of striking at his very character and everything he stood for to make him feel devastated. He was so mean and petty and cold. And it took him way too long to figure it out - and he didn't really; it too; Anna to point out what he had done. I was so mad at him after that - she forgave him way too easily, as far as I'm concerned. Way too nice.
A case of mistaken identity & a playboy Prince create the start of this story by Kylie Gilmore. After Prince Phillip’s long time girlfriend broke up with him & he realized she really wasn’t interested in him, he’s resisted getting close to anyone. Now his reputation has earned him the leading spot in a charity bachelor auction.
Ruby can’t believe the chance she’s been given. Her friend married a prince & now she’s been offered the opportunity to design the new spa rooms in the castle. Too bad she has to deal with the sexy arrogant Prince Phillip to get the job done!
This story illustrates how first impressions can lead to wrong conclusions. Phillip had just gotten off the phone call telling him about the auction when he sees Ruby. His reactions lead to Ruby’s feelings of him being an arrogant jerk. As they discover the true personalities of each other, the chemistry between them deepens. Whereas Ruby has to learn not to listen to gossip & appearances, Phillip needs to learn that his life is not the only one that matters. His charity calling is not more important than Ruby’s career. Both parties had lessons to learn before they could find their HEA.
This book is about two people who meet under less than perfect circumstances and have nothing in common. Phillip is next in line for the throne and has earned the nickname “royal hottie”. A reputation he has earned but wants to change. Ruby is a friend of Anna’s who is now the Queen. She has been hired to decorate part of the palace that Anna wants to use as a spa experience for her wealthy friends. This will be used to help grow the economy of Villroy. When the decorating is finished Anna has some friends coming over to experience what she has done. Part of her plan is to hold a bachelor auction for a date with the royal brothers. Phillip has no intention to be a part of it. But once he gets to know Ruby he agrees but only if he can give Ruby the money to bid on him. They realize there is chemistry between them but Phillip doesn’t do relationships and Ruby is a relationship kind of girl. Also, Phillip is leaving to travel for a cause he is heavily involved in and Ruby is going back home. But what happens when the date is over and it’s time to walk away? Another good book about the royal family.
2.5 stars. This book started off really slow for me. The beginning felt very disjointed, and there was not an easy flow to the book in the beginning. Next we have Phillip. Sigh. At first I liked him. He’s, he was a little stuck up and full of himself, but he was also sweet and cared about his family. There was some insta love, but I could look past that because of the romance. Then we get to the fight between Phillip and Ruby. He says some really shitty things to her, and is extremely petty. JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE WANTS TO DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT WITH THEIR LIVES THAN YOU, IT DOES NOT MEAN THEY ARE LESS THAN!!!! So he says these shitty things, and then he goes to apologize a week later, and he REFUSES TO GROVEL!!!! Bro you messed up BIG! You don’t get to say things like that and then immediately get the girl of your dreams back. But of course she forgives him, and then he proposes, and everything’s magically fixed. I wish I had waited for this to come out in the library, and I’m pretty annoyed that I paid for this book.

Loved this story. I'm no expert, but I rather found Ruby and Phillip's story a bit more romantic than Anna and Gabriel. Don't get me wrong, I very much enjoyed that one as well, but this one had a bit extra that just did it for me. I can definitely see how Ruby and Anna are friends. Ruby has a wonderful attitude and though she is nursing a broken heart and dealing with unemployment, I love her independence and her positive outlook in life. I feel a bit bad for Phillip in a way because he is trying to shed a persona that truly isn't all him. He certainly earned that reputation but now that he wants to take a different route in life, it's just not it anymore. I was very upset with his attitude toward Ruby's career but I was dang proud of the way she stood up for herself. I'm very happy with the way it ended and how the situation was resolved. Now I'm ready for Royal Darling. The excerpt hooked me!
Royal Hottie is the second book in The Rourkes series but it could be read as a standalone.
Ruby has come to put some finishing sparkle on the suites in the castle that will be used for paying guests or honeymooners at the King and Queen's request. She is using her interior design skills to add just the right touches.
Phillip is the second born in the Rourkes royal family. He has gotten a playboy reputation since a bad break up that was very public. Now his new sister-in-law wants him to be available for a bachelor auction and he gave her a hard no. When he walks into the suites and sees a woman there, he assumed it is one of their guests a week early and he is very rude to her.
Phillip and Ruby spend most of the book with a growing friendship while fighting their mutual attraction because of their pasts. They have a lot to overcome from two such different lives and plans for the future
Don't let the steamy covers fool you, these books are way more fun, romantic, and sexy than dirty. If you read The Royal Catch and thought Philip had more depth to him than his "Royal Hottie" nickname implied than you would be correct though he does have his wealthy ass-hole moments. Ruby was fine as a character, though, considering she's supposed to be a friend of Anna's I don't remember her being mentioned at all in the previous book. But that's a nitpicky shared universe thing for me, not something that makes the book itself less enjoyable.
You can read this one out of order, but the entire first book is summarized for you as the plot is largely driven by decisions and ideas that happen in the previous book. This book is also less of a stand alone compared to The Royal Catch as the ending, while serving it's purpose to show that our main characters are doing well and happy, also gives you a cliff hanger to set up the plot of the next book.
If you liked The Royal Catch and wanted to read more about just how wealthy and privileged the royal family is, or like books that take place across various countries/places I'd recommend giving this a try!
Ohhh i loved Phillips book I'm so glad to finally know the real man he is after meeting him in an inconvenient plan ( haileys book in happy ending book club). I loved that behind the "royal hottie" facade he's this incredible man and he's doing so much charity work to help where it's needed most. ruby comes to the palace to help her friend the new queen Anne (royal catch) to decorate and has no idea about the bachelor auction featuring the Prince's... there she meets mister royal hottie himself, but not the best first impression. Then they hit it off but keep to just friends even with the chemistry flowing. But when phillip doesn't want to be auction off But especially to anyone that isn't ruby. But what will he do? Can't wait for the rest of the Rourke family.
This is such a fun book. Phillip and Ruby are an amazing couple! There's so much in this story from mistaken identity, hero worship, sass, screaming women, a bachelor auction and that's only in the first half. As Ruby and Phillip get to know each other, the chemistry is there but the timing isn't great. She's getting over a year long relationship with a man who lied to her. He's still getting over being dumped very publicly by his girlfriend of five years. She realizes that he's more than a "royal hottie". He realizes he likes Ruby but has been warned to stay away by her friend, Queen Anna. Though they really want each other, their lives are on different paths. Her life is in Tampa and building her own interior design business. His life is traveling as an ambassador for clean water. How can they make it work? I reviewed this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I’ve known Phillip already from the last book of The Happy Endings Book Club series, but it’s here when we get the chance to know him deeper. He and Ruby are still recovering from ugly break ups with their exes, and skeptical about romance and falling in love again. Their first encounter is a complete mismatch but after spending two weeks trying to create a friendship, they let things go further. Ruby sees him as a loving, caring and dignified person, and he adores that she doesn’t see the prince first. But their relationship, although hot and passionate isn’t enough to prove they could make their huge lifestyle differences reconcile. This book made me go with them on their rollercoaster of emotions with the big expectation on how could they make it work! I love Kylie’s books and this one is up to par with her other books and series!!
Royal Hottie was another fun and entertaining story this was Book 2 and in this book we get to really know Phillip and see how he will deal with the situation his sister-in-law the new Queen has for him. I found my self smiling and giggling throughout this story. I absolutely love Kylie Gilmore, she makes you really fall for her great characters. Prince Phillip is considered the Royal Hottie which makes him the perfect man for a charity bachelor auction, but that is just the start of the story. Ruby is at the palace to work for her friend the Queen and she is not going to put up with an arrogant prince. Soon enough things start to heat up between them, but they both know there can’t be a future for them since they are headed in different directions. I absolutely loved this book and I highly recommend it. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
This book was not good. I listened to the audiobook and thought I could listen even thou I listened to book one and was dissappointed. This was worst than expected. I hated this book. This book was offensive to books. Ruby was so weak as a character. The past character from book one Anna ruined this book too. The concept of a bachelor auction was so horrible. The dialoge was like the author didn't even try. The bachelor auction was so badly written I couldn't hardly listen. The Royal background of the story was ruined by this whole book. Then what really pissed me off was the way they all made Phillip out to be a man whore but he never showed any of that. He was the only character with any depth. I hate that I wasted money on this book and will not be listening to anymore of this series.

Wow, I need a Prince in my life! Book 2 was just as great as the first one! Kylie is rocking this Price series and I can't wait to get my hands on book 3!! Meet Prince Phillip, the hottie prince, when he meets Ruby, he thinks shes there for this bachelor auction his sister in law is orchestrating! He's not the nicest to her, but when he finds out the real reason she's there...She was hired by Anna to decorate the suite she's using to launch her new ideas, he's humble and apologizes to her. To say sparks fly between these two, Ruby is certainly a fire cracker, but he's trying not to upset his new sister in law because she told him hands off of Ruby. Follow their story as they become friends, and possibly more! Grab this book, 5 royal stars for this one!!
I just finished a really, really good book (one where you're totally immersed and forget it's a book because it just flows) and this is just so... NOT that that I can't bear to see if it gets better. The premise irks me, the endless narration in this guy's head, and the concept of saving a country by letting the new American queen, who used to be a HAIRDRESSER, far cryin' out loud--turn a chunk of the royal palace into a day spa (wherein rich women apparently stay a WEEK because the definition of a "day" is apparently a mystery to this author) is just too asinine to believe. A bachelor auction pimping the royal princes for said rich bitches was my last straw.
I simply can't grit my teeth and tough this one out in the hopes it will redeem itself, sorry.
This is an ARC review. I really enjoyed Prince Phillip. Sexy, kind, a bit arrogant but I suppose it’s to be expected when women throw themselves at him and he wants for nothing. Ruby is pretty, tiny and tough. She stands up for herself. She’s a strong person who recently went through a difficult breakup. When the two meet, Phillip is totally mistaken about why Ruby is there and it’s pretty amusing. The only negative for me is the overuse of the f-word in relation to sex. Especially when it’s used referring to brother and sister-in-law trying to get pregnant. Then it’s just crude. Still, a fun read!
The story of Phillip and Ruby...and what a story it is..
Phillip is the "Spare" heir to a throne known as the Royal Hottie, and Ruby is hired by her best friend (The Queen) to put the finishing touches on a Royal Fantasy Suite at the castle. Phillip incorrectly assumes that Ruby is there to bid on a date with him at the Royal Prince auction his sister-in-law is planning.
The two butt heads from the start, then grow close. Both have a lot of baggage from past relationships that they need to work through.
I admit to not liking Phillip in the beginning, and then again in the middle, but by the end, I did grow to like him as well. What a great second book in the Rourkes series
Prince Phillip, known as the Royal Hottie, has his world turned upside down when he meets Ruby. Phillip had his heart broken and has been avoiding anything remotely like a relationship. Ruby also had a bad experience and is just starting to pick up the pieces when her friend Queen Anna asks her to help out with some interior decorating. These two have chemistry and as their story unfolds we get to see the real Prince Phillip, who is kind, caring, funny and romantic. He and Ruby make a wonderful couple and she may be just what he needs to clean up his image. This royal family is lots of fun and I look forward to more of their stories.
Prince Phillip is the 1st member of the royal Rourke family that we met back in Josh & Hailey's story (Happy Endings Book Club #10). Even then, he could pour on the charm, living up to his "Royal Hottie" title!
But when he meets Ruby, she is immune to his charm and makes sure he knows it!
As they spend time together working on Anna's project in the palace, they become friends, and eventually more, as their chemistry is off the charts. But things get a little messy when Phillip puts down Ruby's work as a designer as "fluff".
It will take some time, and some groveling, but Phillip finally realizes that love comes first; everything else is secondary.
Phillip is the royal hottie and he is a little full of himself. Under that, he is a nice guy. Ruby is a heroine making her way after a bad break up of her relationship. They are hot together with insane chemistry. They build a friendship where they understand each other to a degree. Ultimately, they have to figure out how two very different lives could be together. I enjoyed the story. There were plenty of laugh out loud moments. I loved Ruby. There were a few times where Phillip was kind of a jerk and I just wanted to smack him, but he was overall likable. I really enjoyed reading about the bachelor prince auction, and I look forward to reading more about the brothers.
