"Faded, after a strong start"
It started so well. Tom Whiskey, the world-weary PI with a beautiful blonde as his Girl Friday reminded me of all those B&W films in the 40's and 50's. The plot line was a little straightforward, but I was prepared to forgive that. However, the last quarter of the story ruined the whole thing.
First, Whiskey stressed on several occasions that he wasn't close enough to the villain to take any action, and yet the villain was close enough to remove his gun from the PI's holster. Long arms, I guess? The 'Splat' 'Sock' 'Kapow' that accompanied the action when it did come, was just laughable. It was comical in Batman in the 60's, but it's had its day.

Law:
This was an interesting story of finding justice of old cases that are kept in secret of people's mind in till something come along to shake it up. I like the process thAt the story took places.

Such a great story.
I only gave this story 4 stars because it was too short! I love a good mystery and this one did the trick....I found a new hero in Tom Whiskey...looking forward to the next read!

Same characters
I really enjoyed both series and this single book. I don’t understand why the main characters are basically the same: tall, strong man, beautiful assistant with no table manners, a younger brother, a tragic death in his past. The sameness is disappointing.

Poorly written with obvious mistakes. Finds a bracelet and later calls it a necklace. Patrick shoots Jessica, and then Tom tells him that she has been shot! A total waste of time.

Less than his best
For me this book was light reading and didn’t hold the same depth as his other books of his I’ve read. I think he could have given it more because he is a talented writer. It didn’t ring true to me.

Great read
Great story line about the cold cases of the private detectives sister and her fiance who murdered her and others and nearly killed the detective.

Good one
The plot was easy to figure out so it was not a Perry Mason kind of plot but enjoyed the fact that it was short and easy reading

Would actually give this three and a half stars. Tom Whiskey is an interesting character but sometimes the lack of action makes the reading slow.

I knew this story reminds me of Perry Mason!
These books will never let you down. Plenty of twists and turns that will surprise you at the end. A must read.

Short and sweet
This was a nice afternoon read. I enjoyed the surprise ending of who killed Jessica's father. Well written and interesting.

I didn’t realize how short the book was.

Very interesting!
What a strange but very interesting novel. Lots of complex issues with many different solutions. Ending was excellent as well.
