Lydia Mason was the daughter of the mayor. No matter what she did, she was always the daughter of the mayor. One day, she would leave this town and make a name for herself, then maybe she’d be able to find someone who could love her for her.
Ethan was born on the outskirts of town. His family was never welcomed by the people who lived here. He left town after high school to prove that he could be more than anyone else believed he could be, then maybe he’d be a person someone could love
Can a bet and a fake relationship help two souls realize that home isn’t just the place that heals, but it’s also a place where you can find unconditional love?
Small town romance. The guy who lived on the outskirts is back and is pairing up with the the mayor's daughter so she can show him a different side of the town. 2 people more alike than they know. A wonderful read that has characters that are full of life, all of them. You get to know everyone and some you get a hint of, maybe they have stories? A definite must read!
What do you do when you want to get out from the people that have labeled you . Lydia Mason just wants to break out from under her mother who is the mayor of the small town where they live . Ethan was born on the wrong side of the tracks basically . No one in town wanted to associate with them . All he wanted to do come back and prove to everyone that he was much more then the poor kid from the outskirts . They will soon learn that the place they are trying to run away from is the exact place they need to be . The characters in this story are well written . Ethan is well he is the kid that just wanted more out of his life . He is tall and sexy and can charm you right out of anything . But deep down inside though he is still the kid from the outskirts that just really wants to belong . Lydia is a little naïve because she has been living under her mother's shadow for her whole life . She just wants to get away and become her own person . As you dive into the book we see that Lydia actually grows and blossoms as the story goes along . She really comes into her own . She can really make Ethan think about what it means to be part of Sweet Blossom . This is a sweet read and you get to see the characters fall in love slowly . The author has a knack of taking characters and letting them just fall in love naturally . This book can hit home for anyone who has wanted to get out from their past . It is a fast read that would be great for an afternoon for the beach or pool side . So if you want a sweet read for your summer reading list check it out .
A small town romance about two people trying to find themselves beyond what people believe they are.
Lydia Mason is the mayors daughter and has always been known as just that. Making friends is difficult as they either like or hate the idea of her being related to the mayor. Ethan Young is known as an outskirter, he was born on the outskirts of the town. Nobody wants to befriend the "poor" kid and nobody believes he will amount to anything beyond where he is.
This book was difficult for me to follow along with. I'm not sure if I can't just go with the author's writing "flow" but I just feel like there is so much missing and so many jumps that it's difficult to keep up with. The ending of this book is abrupt and comes out of nowhere. I don't understand how Lydia can go from trying to convince herself that Ethan being with another woman who is also considered an outskirter but someone his father would like, but then turn around when he shows up at her house and is determined to make their relationship work.
I love small town romance as they often remind me of my own Prodigal son (or daughter in my case) return to my own hometown. So I was surprised when I found Sweet Attractions by Susan Warner did not fill me with all the warm fuzzies I usally get in this genre! I found the small-minded, townies versus outskirters hard to relate to at first. But I don't give up on most books in the first chapter or so, I kept with it. And I am glad I did.
Sweet Attractions is a slow burn romance that heats up before you reach the mid-point of the story. Without realizing it, I found myself invested in the town and its citizens, and dying to figure out what plan the main characters had that would save the town from becoming a ghost town. It became a very entertaining, easy to read novel. I found it easy to finish in one setting, disappearing into the town of Sweet Blooms and not returning to my rural Missouri home until I reached the end. All in all, it was a sweet romance with the happily ever after ending I expect with this genre.
I look forward to spending more time in Sweet Blooms in the very near future.
Ethan Young is a young boy who has graduated from high school. He lives in the Outskirts of a town called Sweet Blooms. His father Barrack Young is hard on Ethan. They don't see eye to eye. Ethan packs up and leaves.
6 years later, Ethan returns to Sweet Blooms. He has done well for himself in Real Estate and owns property in Sweet Bloom. His plan is to put Sweet Blooms on the map and help the people of Sweet Blooms succeed.
The mayor feels he should give the deeds of the land back to Sweet Blooms.
The mayor's daughter Lydia drew up in Sweet Blooms and eventually became a lawyer.
Life in a small town can be difficult - there's definitely a difference between the have and have not kids. Relationships between parents and children can be influenced by circumstances. Determination and education can make a huge difference in acceptance . . . but the perception is still real until attitudes are changed a little at a time. As romance blossoms, can attitudes and relationships blossom, also? Ethan and Lydia are about to find out.
I received this book as part of a Goodreads giveaway in exchange for an honest review. Very sweet love story however, not a huge page turner for me. There didn’t seem to be much of a conflict, leaving the story rather dull for me. Seems to be nicely written and I’m sure is the perfect romance for someone, it was just rather dull overall for me.
I really enjoyed this story. It had drama and adventures. The story characters were very fun too. I really liked the love story. I enjoyed this book from start to finish.
When parents are not your accepting love of yoyr someone the can put doubts in your mind. This couple has doubts throwen at them and have find out if it true love or not.
Then last part of the book ended too abruptly like you were just tired of writing the story. The last could’ve been filled in so much more. Disappointing.
I would give this story 3.5 stars. I felt that it was a little short so honestly it shouldn’t have taken me almost three days to read this. This is a small small town romance but I didn’t feel like I learned much about the town. I definitely know the name of the town though since it was written on almost every page of this book. I realize this is a prequel but it was still a little confusing at times and didn’t flow very well. Also the outskirters thing was a little annoying eventually because it was a huge deal and talked about all the time but i don’t know why it was such a big deal. It was just a little odd to me. Plus this story was mostly business I felt like and parents drama. I didn’t mind the characters but Lydia didn’t know what she wanted but Ethan did almost right away. The ending is a little abrupt because Lydia thought Ethan should be with someone else and then three days later she decides she can’t live without him.
I just couldn't get into this book. Not saying the storyline wasn't good, it just didn't dig deep enough, in my opinion. The timeline was a bit skewed, too. Ethan has to be close to 35, and he was in high school with Lydia, unless he was admiring a 5th grader. His dad kicks him out with two pairs of jeans, and Lydia's mother shuts her out emotionally. These two controlling parents seem set on dumping their own angst on their offspring. Ethan returns home after 17 years, a rich man who somehow now owns 75% of the town he grew up in. I didnt get the implication that he wanted to diss the town but that's what Lydia's mother (appropriately named Mara which means "bitter") keeps accusing him of. His dad puts him down every time they are together. It's a wonder Lydia & Ethan were law abiding citizens with such mean & negative parents. I felt their story ended abruptly and skipped to Cade too quickly at the end. I'll find out in the next installment.
Ethan was the poor one of the neighborhood he stayed. It has always been him and his father they would work and go out dirty. Ethan did not like this when he feel for a certain young lady he wanted better so he left for school and became a top real estate agent. He came back to help Sweet Blooms and is seeking the approval of his father but he does not get it.
Lydia loves her character she is a lawyer and focuses on helping those who need her. Her mother is the mayor of the town and that didn’t change her at all. Ethan asks for her help and she continually helps him.
While reading this story some parts kind of reminded of watching a soap opera especially when it switches characters to their parents which was interesting. The only thing was I wanted more of an ending the two resolved things too quick for me. I voluntarily received an arc copy through Booksprout for my honest review.
A sweet smalltown romance about two people who come from different backgrounds and fall in love. Lydia is the daughter of the mayor and Ethan is not as privileged and comes from the outskirts of town. He left town after high school and comes back after he made a good life for himself. Lydia shows him around and helps him out after he comes back to town, and as they spend more time together, they start to fall in love. It's not easy for them as other are trying to tear them apart. The characters were wonderful and I loved getting to know them. It was nice to see them overcome the obstacles together and become stronger for it. I love reading about small town romances and this one was very well-written. I really like the writing style and I look forward to reading more by this author.

I love this book so far! I can’t wait to read the rest of the series! This book very much so reminds me of a Nicholas sparks book so far theme wise just no one has passed on! I love the beginning of the romance being formed, has me wondering what will happen next! Will they stay together this time? I think they would be a perfect match for what I know of them so far even if they are from “different sides of the track.” Love how Ethan left and made a name for himself! Can’t say it’s to much different from me and my husbands growing up styles! Very nice to read a similar back ground story! Wonder if they get married and the parents get on board with the whole thing, how does sweet blooms end up? Sooo many questions! Thank you for such a GREAT read!!

Love this book! Young love between two people who weren't meant to be together, at least according to their pasts. Ethan came from the wrong side of the tracks in Sweet Blooms without money and left town after graduation to prove he could be someone. Lydia is the daughter of the mayor, grew up in town and had money but she will always be the daughter of the mayor. Years later Ethan has returned as a successful realtor and is buying up any properties he can in the town of Sweet Blooms. He and Lydia start working together for the town and fall in love in the process. A sweet love story, great characters, a book you won't want to put down. Sweet Blooms is a small town, separated in two for a long time into the Blooms and the Outskirters. Ethan was an outskirter who made it out of town and start a successful career. When he returns at mid 30, he owns about 75% of the land in town and has plans to develop Sweet Blooms, bringing it into the modern world. Lydia, the mayor's daughter is worried about his reasons, why he wants to help and wants to correct his view of the town. Falling for each other had not been on the plan... A nice small town romance, with its typical ups and downs. It also is the first book of the Sweet Blooms Series from the chronological point of view. I really enjoyed the story. it was entertaining and engaging. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Ethan would like to be known as a rescuer, a hero saving the town - instead of just a boy from the outskirts of town.
Lydia would like to be more than daughter to the mayor. Funny how her mom cannot seem to understand that a secretary arranging lunches and dinners for the two of them is off putting. Is it the Mayor asking, or her mother?
These two never quite fit exactly in a big city, and both stand out in Sweet Blooms.
Do they really fit together?
Sweet romance that helps both navigate self and surroundings

The small town of Sweet Blooms is in trouble. Ethan Young, a successful realtor -the boy from the outskirts of town who left to become "someone", returns with a plan to save his hometown. Lydia Mason, daughter of the Mayor , convinces Ethan to pose as her boyfriend so the townsfolk wouldn't recognize him. As Lydia shows him the great things and people of Sweet Blooms an undeniable attraction forms between the two. Their budding romance doesn't please everyone and it's this conflict that makes this novel shine. A lovely, sweet romance with great characters. I highly recommend pouring yourself a cup of coffee, breaking out some chocolate and enjoy your visit to Sweet Blooms.
I lovely feel good story. Ethan came from the outskirts of Sweet Bloom, not considered as part of the town, but he had ambition to become more so left town for college and went into real estate. Now he is back with a surprise for the township. Lydia tried to break free of the small town to study law, but has ended up working for her mother the mayor. Ethan’s father and Lydia’s mother didn’t want them to date due to their own personal histories, but will they keep them apart or will love find a way? I highly recommend this book..
This is the prequel to Love Happens Series and I know I want to read the rest of the books in this series. This is Lydia and Ethan's story it is about two people who grew up on different sides of Sweet Blooms. Lydia is the Mayor's daughter and Ethan grew up on the wrong side of town, but he now owns most of it. They will have to overcome a lot before they get their happy ending especially as there are a lot of people trying to keep them apart. Ethan is the boy who made good with his life.Lydia was the girl who was so high above him during his high school days. In this reverse Cinderella Story, Lydia is like the town princess with an overbearing mother, who is also the mayor. Her mother has many great expectations for Lydia’s life. Meanwhile, Ethan has a father who would hold his down. I enjoyed this story of growth, acceptance, and breaking free of others’ expectations.

I have to admit I was confused reading this, trying to place it in the series I had read so far...it wasn't until the end that I realised it was a prequel as it happens before Sweet Beginning which is billed as book 1. The story of Ethan and Lydia is written well, the story moves at a good pace and both characters made me care about them and keep turning the pages to find out what happened next.
