Iris Wendel, daughter of an uber-billionaire control freak, is on a rebellious path. With her college days coming to an end and her trust fund on the line, it’s time to make some changes. But when she drives her roommate to a party at the RTMC compound, the gathering of rugged, sexy, dangerous biker werewolves changes everything for Iris.
Face-to-face once again with the only woman he’s ever loved, Danny “McGyver” Franklin refuses to let Iris slip through his fingers this time. He’s no longer the poor, backwoods redneck from her past. McGvyer’s a man now — strong, confident, relentless, and a valued member of the RTMC.
Iris knows Danny is her soul mate, but she’s terrified her father will destroy him all over again. Danny’s playing for keeps, and he’s not about to let anything — or anyone — come between them, especially not Iris’s overbearing father. In a showdown for power and control, can McGyver and his wolf show them who’s boss and hold on to the woman they’ve always loved?
Candace Blevins writes urban fantasy, paranormal romance, epic fantasy contemporary BDSM romance, and two kick-ass motorcycle club series. She’s published more than fifty books. Candace lives with her husband of twenty-four years and their two teenaged daughters. The family’s beloved, goofy, retired racing greyhounds are usually at her side as she writes, quietly keeping her company. Or sometimes not so quietly.
Her urban fantasy series, Only Human, gives us a world where weredragons, werewolves, werelions, three different species of vampires, and a variety of other mythological beings exist.
Candace's various paranormal romance series are all sister series to the Only Human series, and give some secondary characters their happily ever after.
Her Dark(ish) Faerie Tale series gives us a close-up and personal look at Queen Mab, and her Dark Underbelly series is, as you’d expect, dark and (if you’re a little twisted) oh-so-yummy.
Her contemporary Safeword series gives us characters who happen to have some extreme kinks. Relationships can be difficult enough without throwing power exchange into the mix, and her books show characters who care enough about each other to fight to make the relationship work. Each couple in the Safeword series gives the reader a different take on the lifestyle.

Second chance romances give people hope that their first love may return to them. For some people, the first big "love" is unforgettable. Sometimes this is a good thing; sometimes this may be a bad thing. In McGyver, Ms. Blevins lets the reader decide if it was good or bad.
Iris is protected by an overbearing father. Most over protective ones can only make threats to those who may be a danger to their daughter. Iris's father is rich enough to deliver on his promises. No one is safe from his retribution. When Iris's youthful fancy is torn from her arms, her rebellion is a typical rich teenager's stance. She spirals down the path of sex, drugs and scandals. Nearly a decade later, Iris finally wises up to the fact that her behaviour isn't hurting anyone but herself.
Iris is interesting to me because the opening scene paints a picture of a woman who is doing her best to achieve her goals. She comes across as a young struggling student with a little bit of helping hand from her father. As the story unfolds, her past paints a very different picture. A selfish brat who wastes her father's money and foolishly places herself in ill advisable situations. Her lack of maturity would make me question allowing her the large trust fund to enter her hands on her 25th birthday. I wouldn't let her have access to any money. She can not be trusted based on her history.
This conflict for Iris is well constructed to set her up to prove her growth. She is on a path to prove it but it really doesn't come across that way to her father and I can see his perspective. What is makes this set up so good is the injection of her first love, Danny "McGyver". Danny was a college student on a scholarship who lost everything when kissed a girl beyond his social station. A decade later, Danny is no longer a boy from the wrong side of the tracks with no family but a pack of forest wolves. Danny is part of the RTMC and he is a man of both power and means. Danny grew into a sexy man and is comfortable in his skin. The one thing he and his wolf does not have in their life is Iris. This second intersection of Iris and Danny's life is meant to be.
At heart, this story is about love conquers all. I enjoyed the twists and turns thrown at Iris and Danny. They suit each other so well. Ms. Blevins sets up obstacles in their path that are realistic and educational. For those who are not privy to the Country Club society, this is a nice glimpse into how it can be. The dynamics require people not originally from this high society to learn a new set of rules. Yet the rules are not to different, just a variation of proving a person needs to command respect.
Watching Iris and Danny learn about each other all over again is a pleasure. Their erotic interlude as adults is definitely pleasurable. Ms. Blevins always delivers when it comes to sexy shenanigans. Whilst I wouldn't term this vanilla sex, it is as close to it as it can get. Since it is Ms. Blevins, she can't help but slip in a bit of kink. It is not what the reader expects as it may come out of left field. However, for those who are good at reading between the lines, it is pretty apparent from the beginning where the kink would be. I liked it.
This story is a nice lengthy novel bring about closure in several aspects for the main characters. It is a riveting tale which kept me up late reading. This erotic novel is recommended to paranormal readers who love bad boys and second chance themes. Highly recommended!
I really enjoyed McGyver. It was a little bit different from past RTMC stories and it was extremely interesting to read.
McGyver was exactly the alpha male that we have come to love from Candace. But, he also had an understanding side as well. He grew up from the boy that his Blueberry fell in love with all those years ago. He's his own man now, belongs to a brotherhood that is more of a family to him than his own and knows how to stand up for himself against the bullies of the world. Now, he has to convince Iris that he's not afraid of her father, that he'll do whatever it takes to be with her, keep her safe and love her forever.
Iris is afraid that all will be taken from her if Daddy dearest finds out that she's seeing Danny again. But, she has to take control of her life at some point so, why not now? She knows that Danny is the only one for her … god knows she tried to find something that even compared to him in the past with nothing coming close. She needs to get her security detail to understand this and, with the help of the RTMC, Aaron Drake will make some concessions but not a lot. It takes her kidnapping and Danny finding her for her father to finally come to terms with their relationship. But, does it.
Yes, there are some twists and turns, ups and downs … a little bribery and a little black-mail but everything turns out just the way it should for Iris and Danny.
I really enjoy reading the RTMC series. It's fun in places, serious in others but it's always enjoyable. I love that she brings a lot of past characters into the story and weaves them right into the current story line. But, McGyver was fresh and interesting. Iris was a bit “stuck up” at times and seemed to be worried more about money than anything until she finally realized that she really was no different than anyone else. It took a lot but I finally began to like her. And, that's another thing that I enjoy about Candace Blevins' stories – her men may be alpha and hot but the woman are just as head-strong as the men … they may need some getting used to but, in the end, they are the heroine that you were hoping for.
Second Chance Romance? Strictly speaking, I suppose it is. But I like to play with definitions, and I don't think this romance ever went away. It affected and influenced and shaped two young (almost) lovers into two adults who were ultimately ready for each other and all the obstacles a life together was going to throw at them. But they were always each-other's, without any real attempt to change their minds about that whether they ever saw the other again.
And that makes this a rediscovery romance; blessedly without angst or self-doubt of any real import. Just an organically evolving relationship with two characters who tackled obstacles together, openly and honestly. A strong, blessed-by-advantage but flawed female lead and a strong, confident survivor male lead. And how I appreciate the absence of tstl angst! However, I also appreciate that I was handed another, secondary character of some reputation who...well, lets just say I like his kind of bad.
This wonderful love story is just a nice piece of normal life. You know...when one of the characters is an heiress who has bad people interested in her, and when another of the characters is a 1%-er with a tendency to get furry.
I liked this one, but I had some issues too. My big issue was Iris and how out of touch she was with "real life". Sure a lot of that was due to her father being in the 1% top wealthy rank, where she is given money like people hand out Halloween treats. In my head I know people live like this, but when Iris made a comment early on about how she could "probably" live on $60-$80k a year it turned me off. Especially as her next comment was how she would have to see about getting generic make-up. That is so not my life and the comment came off very much as pampered princess. Yet considering all of this Iris was pretty down to earth. I kept flip-flopping on if I really liked Iris or not.
I did like the connection she had with Danny, liked that she was pretty accepting of the MC and their old ladies. The power play between Iris's father and Danny got old fast, even as the moves each made was understandable.
3.5 Stars rounded up. I love the books by this author. Damn, they feel so authentic even though they are set in a paranatural world. I pretty much read this book without putting it down. Some of the relationship reveals were very interesting and I really liked that McGyver and Iris were a different kind of couple than the others. This didn't have immediate sex and power plays, although those come, both McGyver and Iris were mature and controlled about how they restarted their relationship. This book actually seemed a bit less sex-scentric than some of the others in this series.
That's not to say this didn't have issues. The plot* with the kidnapping was head scratching and didn't do the Drake security team any favors in maintaining the reputation that they really are the best. That Brock kept them in place was not in character for him either. But really, the big issue was that there is no sensible motivation for this that is laid out in the book and brings the whole thing down a star.
I still couldn't put it down. I hate waiting for the next book.
A second chance romance about teens ripped apart by a father that has control issues and is rich enough to make anything he wants happen even if it destroys the daughter he's raising to be a princess while ruining her boyfriend. Wolves mate for life and McGyver has been haunted by memories of his Iris. On the other hand without realizing it, she's been looking for that love she's been missing since she last saw him. Now in the bedroom McGyver more than meets her needs with his style of hot and erotic lovemaking and out of it she has matured into the woman he needs. He's become as uber alpha as Iris's father and he's determinded to fight him using the same smarts that has let him amass his own resouces. And his family of bikers not only will back him but help him in his fight. Ms. Blevins gives us a book of people with a depth of emotions driving them to develop and mature while treating us to a romance where we fall in love with them. Once again I couldn't put her book down until I finished it. It could have been, as some romances are, superficial relying on the second chance premise to try to satisfy the reader but it isn't. It's so much better. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review, not necessarily a positive one.
McGyver is a smoking hot second chance romance and a terrific addition to the series. Danny “McGyver” Franklin is a big bad biker with an even bigger brain but his heart has only ever beat for Iris the daughter of an uber-billionaire control freak. When these two reunite it is off the charts hot. Now they need to keep her father from ruining it for them again but McGyver isn’t a scared 17 year old anymore and he has his biker family backing him up. Money can’t buy everything. I really enjoyed this story. The very rich may be different but they still put their pants on one leg at a time and the heart wants what the heart wants. I loved this from cover to cover.
This is book 13 in this series with a MC who are at the same time shifters, it is really excellent and there is a lot of good smutty scenes and lots of butt stuff included. Also there is some action and danger as well. Very nice HEA at the end.
Her collage days are coming to an end and she’s on a rebellious path, but it is time for Iris Wendel to make some changes and at a gathering of rugged, sexy, danger biker werewolves Iris gets her chance. Danny “McGyver” Franklin comes face to face with the only woman he’s ever loved and he refuses to let her slip through his fingers this time. Danny’s playing for keeps but Iris is terrified that her uber-billionaire control freak of a father will destroy him all over again.
This werewolf biker romance is fantastically hot, positively exciting and readers just can’t put this book down, no matter the distractions. McGyver and Iris are strong, convincing characters that are absolutely made for each other and the chemistry between rocks the reader’s world, while the scorching hot intimate scenes melt the reader’s underwear. The relationship however has a few obstacles that have to be overcome, adding lots of emotional turmoil while the couple struggle to reach their happily ever after.
The plot is fast paced with non-stop exciting events that build the suspense throughout the story as readers await the outcome with eager anticipation. Secrets, surprise twists and manipulative maneuvering keeps readers on their toes along with the characters as RTMC try to keep the neighborhood safe from the gangs and help McGyver fit into Iris’ world enough to get her father to back off, whether it’s by dressing up or by fighting just as dirty. This series just gets hotter and hotter as these sexy, hunky, uber alpha werewolf bikers continues to makes readers’ hearts pound in glorious ‘want some of that’ eagerness.
I am amazed every time I read a Candace Blevins story, not only do we get a story full of rich characters and details but the storyline just grabs you so that it’s difficult to put the book down.
McGyver’s story is the next installment in the RTMC series. He and Iris knew each other when they were young and were separated by her father. That separation caused her to rebel and do scandalous things. But after a chance encounter they reconnect and find that they are still pretty much in love with each other.
The heart wants what it wants and for Iris, it wants Danny, as she has always called him. And for Mac, his wolf has already found their mate in Iris. Now they have to find a way to have her father accept that Danny is back in her life.
Candace writes strong female heroines, one of the many reasons I enjoy her books. Iris can stand on her own two feet, no matter what is thrown her way. Having Danny in her life only makes stronger. There are so many intricacies into their story and Candace knows just how to weave their storyline. Make sure you pick up McGyver and immerse yourself into the RTMC life again.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
I always look forward to every new release by Candace Blevins, and this latest book did not disappoint. Iris and Danny were torn apart by Iris' over controlling father. A chance meeting years later finds Danny in a much better position to deal with not only Iris' father, but also a struggling Iris.
There are alot of things to like about this book. One is the level of detail. Things that most authors breeze over, this author delves into, then delves in a little deeper. That level of detail brings a connection to the characters that just doesn't happen with most books. On the surface Iris wasn't a very likeable character, yet as more and more of her character was revealed, she slowly became a character I wanted to see succeed. The same is true with the supernatural elements. The attention to detail allows the supernatural elements to blend perfectly into a modern world.
I also loved the flow of the book. The relationship building itself was good, but the author blended it perfectly with moments of drama. Given the time, I could have easily knocked this one out in a single sitting.
Sometimes, you just need a good second chance story. You know, the one where you were forced apart as love-struck teens, and meet back up again as adults. When you’ve both done a lot of living during the time you’ve been apart, and want to see if it will work now. The sparks are still there, and you aren’t kids anymore, so acting on them is on the table. But, are you compatible as people, do your worlds mesh, and are you willing to make the changes to make it happen?
Iris and Danny had everything stacked against them, and some things still are, but from the moment they are the same vicinity again, their destinies are sealed together. It just takes a bit to get all the details worked out. This isn’t supernatural politics at play, this is the story of a wolf getting the girl he was taken away from all those years ago.
McGyver is a sweet love story, with some really hot sex, and two people who truly get their second chance, and aren’t willing to give up on it for anything!
Iris only has a few more months to get her trust fund. But when a blast from her past shows up will she still be willing to follow her father's rules to get it? Can Danny show Iris that he can withstand any pressure from her father?
I thoroughly enjoyed meeting McGyver and Iris in the latest addition to Candace Blevins Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Club series. Iris loved McGyver as a teen but she is struggling to see him as a grown man. A man sure in who he is and what he can do, especially with his family behind him. I lov that he sees Iris in spite of the money she comes from, in spite of her lack of growth to date, in spite of her father. I love that McGyver sees the woman she can become as long as she starts to trust in herself. Ms. Blevins gives us a story of growth and acceptance. I adored the family that is the Rolling Thunder MC. I loved the support they gave even if it was hard. And I loved seeing McGyver depend upon and show Iris what family means, even as she learns to show her father who she is and wants to be.
This story by Ms. Blevins is well written. The honest emotion and character growth feel real and believable. I loved seeing McGyver and Iris take a journey that allowed them a future together. It was not contrived or preachy. It is real and thoughtful. I cannot wait to see what Ms. Blevins has in store for us next.
What can I say about Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Club Book 13? Wow and amazing is a start. The author just puts so much real into her stories even with the paranormal, the feel, the situations. The things that the characters deal with is the same that everyday us deals with.
They came upon opposite sides of the track one from money one without, over course a parent goes above and beyond to protect their child from what they think isn't good for them.
At first, Iris annoyed me as a child her actions are based on her father but as an adult, they are her own and what she lacked in survival skills wasn't just her fathers' fault but her fault as well.
one of my fav secondary characters is Harmony! oh yeah, she just rocks. Mac is totally amazing and I did wind up liking Iris. So its a win, win.
Great scenes hot and kinky, great detail wonderful story. Loved loved it. oh and Kendra is the IT! hmm mm loves her face.
I’m always excited when I see an announcement for another Candace Blevins book. If you’ve yet to pop your cherry on any of her books, what are you waiting for? If you have an interest/like/love in stories with gorgeous alpha males, bikers, paranormal romance, strong heroines, and an all-around good read, then check out Ms. Blevins RTMC series.
Likes: The world building that exists across this series is amazing. The work and research Ms. Blevins puts into the myths around the different supernatural species gives readers a rich reading experience. The characters are all compelling and her attention to detail has them leaping off the page. The independent story plots are grand fun to read and she still manages to incorporate the individual stories into the overall series and arc. And of course, the attraction and smexy bits are hawt!
“McGyver” is book 13 in the RTMC series but like most of the stories, functions as a standalone.
What was once a childhood crush - can it be rekindled or do we grow out of it cause of life and circumstances - well Candace has her version of events, and I will tell you this, she doesn't disappoint !!! I needed something like this and my girl Candace delivered !!! this is an effin good #rekindled love story I have read so far. And I already want to reread it. Conflicting worlds, protective parents, misconceptions and drama (but the one we like) is more then enough to put off most people in trying to come out of all this as winners, but this story about Danny and Iris is not that kind of story. The gang ... ups, I mean the club and the group are back and if you know books from Candace, you know I could not have put it down once I started !!!! looooooooooooooooooooooooved it !!! Now go away, I need to re read this bad boy !!
Candace Blevins delivers with her 2nd chance romance, McGyver. Growing up and taking a stand is a part of life for most of us, and McGyver and Iris do it particularly well while rekindling and fighting for their relationship. Of course, the heat between the two of them just keeps reeling you in! Candace’s RTMC, Chattanooga Supernaturals and Only Human series can be read separately, but they all intertwine creating a rich backdrop for each new book as you go along. Sometimes I just need to step away from real-life everyday crap, and these books let me do that. It’s just hard to wait for the next one! Take it from someone who has them all and re-reads them often. Hope you like them too!
Iris's father has always ruled her life with an iron fist. Ripping her and Danny apart when they were teenagers. Neither has forgotten the other and a chance meeting after 9 years hasn't cooled the feelings they have for each other. But this time Danny is a strong Alpha male and ready for a fight. Iris is his and he means to keep her, it doesn't help that since Iris's mother died her father has became so much more overbearing. Danny also has the backing of his brothers at the club this time. There's so much more I want to write but I will wait till it goes live as to not spoil it for others. 5 HOT Stars!!!!
McGyver is the 13th book in this series. I loved all of them. This was a great story and some life lessons about adulting. The steamy scenes were just right and "watching" a daughter and her father discuss his sexual life style was kind of funny.
There was mention/tension in the previous books about "something big" happening/coming in their supernatural world that the MC and others were working towards making sure they wo, but it never materialized. Also, it is my pet peeve when an editor doesn't catch a big mistake-like Tiny being called Tank and getting Ghost's legal name wrong. I would still recommend this series and would read more in it.
Talk about 2nd chance romances. This book is it. Iris and Mac were childhood sweethearts until her controlling father stepped in and broke them apart. Iris is a very rich girl whose father only wants what he thinks is best for her, and McGyver is not it. A chance meeting years later brings them back together. And Mac is ready, willing and able to make Iris his mate. I couldn't put this book down. As with all the other books in the RTMC series, this was a must read. It's an OMG. I can't wait for Candace to give us more from this series.
A rash decision by Iris' well-meaning father changes the life course of teens Iris and Danny. Despite being ripped apart they have both made it to adulthood and through a series of events meet again after almost decade apart. This was a real page turner and also gave us a brief teaser into tour much beloved Dawg's life prior to the RMTC. A huge takeaway here is don't judge a person by appearances. Everyone is like an iceberg, you only see a small portion of who they are.
I found Ms. Blevins as an author with her book "The Dragon King". 40+ incredible reads later, McGyver. Deliciously erotic and romantic telling of a teenage love that never ended. The billionaire father who ruined Danny's life to get him away from Iris. Danny, the security expert, who is now a self made man. The chance meeting, a love that never ended. The biker and the billionaire's daughter. I loved it. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
I absolutely loved this book. This in book 13 in the Rolling Thunder MC series. The story was very well written and held my attention until the last page. McGyver and Iris had loads of chemistry. McGyver is alpha hot. Loved catching up with characters from other books. I am looking forward to the next book in this series. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book from an advanced reader copy.
Put the day aside, get comfortable and drivee into the steamy world of McGyver and Iris. When they reconnect after years apart, sparks fly. Can McGyver and Iris get their second chance at love or will Iris's father try and separate them again. The twists and turns keep you keeps you turning the pages as Ms Blevins delivers another epic supernatural Romance story. Brilliant from start to finish. Well done.
I really want to give it five stars but I just didn't like so much about Iris that I couldn't say I loved it as much as some of the others in the series. She is so spoilt and so hypercritical that the character pulled me away from the story. Mac on the other hand … I absolutely loved everything about him. It's a great series that def hits my fave all time list and this is an excellent addition to the series. actually feeling it's nearly time for a series re-read
Teenage love! But rich daddy, control freak isn't going for it! So he rips them apart. After years of crazy living they meet again. And that's enough to get you going.
I just love this couple. Iris is so open-minded, I'm proud of her character. And of course Danny/McGyver wow! What a guy. 😋 They're great together!
Shit! Oh Candace, thanks for another great read. Can you update the reading list for reading all five Series? I don't want to miss something.
Iris and Danny chemistry is smoking hot together. This is a second chance genre. I love that development between the characters growth each optical they face both each show their own individual strengths and I was hooked into the story plot. Great book. I voluntarily review this book for my honest opinion.
