Rate this book
Coming of age (or growing up) adventure novel for 9-13 ages. Though the main character is an eleven-year-old girl, the novel could be enjoyed by other ages and genders. The story tells how Amy, following a riding accident, discovers she can communicate (not talk) with animals. She is approached by Abe, an ABC (alien big cat), who persuades her to help catch a gang of wildlife smugglers. She is captured but escapes and, aided by a friendly gorilla, her older brother Ben and a local news reporter, the crooks are brought to justice. The book includes background stories of Abe, the panther, and George, the gorilla, telling how they were captured and brought to the UK by smugglers. There is also a section of information on wildlife crime and other related matters.
