Translated Kingdoms is a new collection of poignant poems reflecting a thousand years of Scotland and the sea. From fishermen to ferry men, landladies to lighthouse keepers, many have depended on the sea for a living, and all Scots are near enough to its shores to experience its changing moods. Iain Crichton Smith, Norman MacCaig and Robert Louis Stevenson join many others in this moving testimony to the place of the sea at the heart of the Scottish imagination.
