The Riverdale TV show is a guilty pleasure show for me to watch. It's over the top and sort of ridiculous at parts, but really addicting. When the Free Comic Book Day releases were announced, I knew I would pick this one up.
This short story shows Cheryl's wrath when someone submits a senior superlative of her being most likely to committ twincest with her brother. Jughead is on the case trying to figure out who could have put that submission in.
Theres also some back story with Betty and Archie where they end up giving each other presents for senior year.
I wasnt a huge fan of the art work, it's not my style as a graphic novel reader.
3 stars because I wanted more from the story and more of it. Half the comic book is a story which ends on to be continued and the rest is sneak peeks for upcoming Riverdale/Archie related works.
For a comic supposedly set in season 3 it spends a lot of time introducing the characters like it’s season 1 with a story out of season 1. It just didn’t make a ton of sense. The comic was enjoyable enough; I just didn’t see where it fit into Riverdale itself. I liked the art. It’s a grittier style that allows the wholesomeness of Archie to come through while letting the tone of the show hang out just behind it. It worked.
Cheryl and the other Vixens are pissed. The lighting looks questionable.
Archie Andrews and Betty Cooper both embrace their duality. They remain platonic best friends, despite being in romantic relationships with other people.
The class superlatives bring out some people’s dark side.
(Why are there female cheerleaders even in the boys’ locker room? So not okay.)
This story is only available as the FCBD 2019 Riverdale Season 3 single issue, and, weirdly enough, it wasn't included in the Riverdale Season Three TPB. I gave only 3 stars because, as mentioned by another reviewer here, the story is not finished, and I doubt it'll ever be. It ends with a to be continued...
