She lives for the thrill of being the deadliest hitwoman walking the streets, as she gets to work side by side with her two best friends. Plus, working for the most dangerous and powerful woman in the city has its perks...as long as you follow the rules, and Dagger does just that... Until Luca. When Luca steps into Dag’s life, everything is turned upside down. Life, as she's always known it, is abruptly disrupted and has her questioning everything. The once untouchable assassin finds herself vulnerable, in the worst way. Meanwhile, in the streets around her, a powerful danger lurks and threatens to rip apart the town she fights to protect it. K. Carter

K. Carter can usually be discovered reading a book, and that book will more likely a romance. Writing a novel was always on her bucket list, and eventually, with Blood Bound, in 2015, it became a reality.

When not absorbed in the latest lip-biting romance, K. cherishes gorging television programs, appreciates changing new hairdos consistently, and generally invests very much an excessive amount on online shopping. She lives in the Greater Cincinnati area, with her husband and horribly behaved but adorable dog.

Despite the "tawny skinned" default Black heroine, I ended up really liking this wild ride with the deadly Dagger. This chick was no joke and would easily shank someone than talk to them. Dagger is part of a bad ass female hit squad employed by a mysterious woman called "Madam" who runs everything in a place called Redondo City. This trio comprised of Dagger (Dag for short and she has a taste for knives hence her name), Ivie (who can crack jokes after getting shot), and Ode, a tall Nigerian woman with a no-nonsense attitude. Their business is killing and let's just say business is good.

There's only one rule - no catching feelings. Sex yes. Falling in love gets you/and or your partner killed. Dagger's problem is that she's hyper-focused on her job, so when she finally scratches that itch with sexy tattoo artist Luca, things go south in both good and bad ways. What was supposed to remain as sex buddies starts to become something more, and Dag knows she needs to end it. Meanwhile, there's a plot to take down Madam and her organization, with Dag as the center of the maelstrom.

Luca was adorably sweet but terrible with metaphors. Swoon worthy, pretty much.

There is some serious violence in this book. Dag and sister hit squad are not squeamish by any means. They get the job done. Unfortunately since Dag has violated the rule about catching feelings, she's out. But the plot thickens and Ivie's story is next.

One cool thing is that Dagger is a metalhead like me. Don't get many Black chick metalheads in books, which is sad because not every Black person listens to rap. Nice to see some intra-diversity.

Page turner!

Well damn K. Carter! This book was...for lack of lexicon fudging great! At first I thought that it was Daggers love interest Luca, but the plot just continued to thicken! So many twists and turns. I wanted Dagger to actually knock Colby the f out! She rubbed me the wrong way. I hate how Ivie and Ode turned on Dagger without seeing the bigger picture, all of the bull shiggity going on in RC is because of madam and her secrets. Lordt...was this book a page turner! I don't know if you've written any other books or if this is your first piece of work, all that I can say is well done! Well..Mutha. Fudging. Done!!!

Female Assassins Rock

OMG, Finally a book with all cast Female Assassins that are TOTALLY BADASS. This is the First read from this Author and it won't be the last.

Dagger has been though so much in her life. 1st she witness the Death of her Beloved Dad and her Brothers, her Mother also was taken from her( Even though they had a Rocky relationship).

My girl became a Hot, and Sexy Assassin Female that rocked. She formed a bond with her follow Assassins and was living the Life she wanted until Lucas, a one night stand that turned too be her Everything.

Dag emotions are all over the place.

Her counterparts has warned her not to get to close, But unfortunately things go way left field. Someone is trying to take out The Fabulous 3 and thier Queen Bee and her Minions.

But Lucas is in the crossfire.

He will not leave his lady love. I love his innocence and purity that cleansers her tortured souls and silences her fears and nightmares which makes her feel human when her world is So dark and driven with Violence.

I love how the Author made Lucas be her Sunshine to her Darkness. Her peace and quiet, her calm which makes her Heart sing.

But Dag is feeling more is yet too come thier way, and its gonna be EPIC when is does.

Kudos too this Author and I can't wait to see what's up with Little old Miss Ivie.

Will she get someone to help her in her Darkness and bring her Life. Only the Next book in this Series will tell.

You got a lil sumn sumn right there

Some editing issues nothing too bad. This book had me yelling at it like I was screaming at characters on Lifetime T.V. or at a movie theater. I love Luca’s quirky-ness, I actually thought he was going to be an undercover Italian assassin but I’m still digging him. And Ivie is killing me with the peanut gallery comments in the background.

Reaaalllyyyyy!! She just said you distract her and now she not doing her job... because of Luca!!! Somebody about to die!
Sorry I got sidetracked...

Anyway, I enjoyed this way too much and looking forward to book 2. I was not expecting this and I plan to find more works from this author.

S/N
For fellow reviewers if you know of any more books that have BW assassins in them please recommend that book for me on Goodreads. /mialenae. I already have the Dangerous Beauty Michelle Hardin Series. TYIA!

Femme Fatale

There's nothing sexier than a female assassin dedicated to revenge and simply eliminating any threat deemed necessary....even sexier with five others just as sexy and deadly....and sexist when she's protecting the man she has fallen for...his innocence and purity cleansers her tortured souls and silences her fears and nightmares....making her feel human again...Lucas is her peace and quiet...her calm and song in her heart....so why does it feels that the worst is yet to come..Dagger/Nadirah paid a high price when she lost brothers and her father....mom turned out to be Judas....yet the thought of losing Lucas is the greatest fear in her heart...so she has to give him up......?

Love it.

I loved this book because the h was never less so that the H could be more. The h was unapologetically bada$$. even so, she was vulnerable when she fell in love; even so , the author did not make her less. The H was cool and the author created the perfect guy for the h: he accepted the h, warts and all and did not try to change the h. All the right stuff, hot smexing, love, action, intrigue and hopefully another good read down the road with one of the other characters. Very enjoyable read...highly recommend.

I want more Dagger!

So I absolutely love Dagger, she’s different and a breath of fresh air to read about. Sweet Luca who just blindly accepts her was so funny and adorable. The plot twists and mystery were so interesting and it had great action. I just would’ve like to see an epilogue of some sort. Honestly I know Ivie’s story is next but I would’ve liked to just see more Dagger or maybe her and her team take her side and splinter off to solve the mystery themselves.

Either way this was a fun read.

Very Good Read

I really enjoyed this book. It was well written and flowed nicely. Luca was so funny with his weird analogies. I loved how he treated Dagger. They have such a great connection and serious chemistry. I am a bit salty with Ivie, so I can’t wait to read her story next. I hope she will experience the same things Dagger experienced with Luca, so she can better understand why her friend did what she did. Great job, K. Carter!

Solid work

This was the first time reading this author but this was solid work with strong and quirky characters. I definitely want to read more by here and I can’t wait for Ivie to find love so she knows that it’s. It all black and white and she needs to give a little

Dag

A story of having to make the ultimate choice for you, knowing you may hurt the ones you hold near and dear to you! Dag had to choose family who loved her or the man she's fallen in love with. Loyalty over love, how will she choose? Great story, to be continued!
