Death was only the beginning. I have a lot to learn after waking up in the afterlife. Never mind that my memories have been erased, but being assigned as a demon hunter, um . . . yeah, I don’t think so. Physical activity and I aren’t on speaking terms.
Making my supernatural headache worse is my infuriating trainer, Logan. Sparks fly between us immediately—the kind created by our swords and personalities as we clash in and out of the training center.
Just when I think my life—or rather, afterlife—is all punch, stab, rinse and repeat, I find myself the wielder of the most powerful sword in existence. Sure, it might be cool to ash demons with a single swipe of my weapon, but now Satan is gunning for me.
Logan is the only one I can turn to for help. But the guy has secrets. So until I figure out what they are, I might just be on my own.
My name is Audrey Lyons, and my afterlife is shaping up to be a hot mess and a half.
With over 1,100 five-star reviews on Amazon and Goodreads, why are you waiting to start the series readers have called "captivating", "stunning", and "refreshingly beautiful"?
Fans of The Mortal Instruments, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Supernatural won't want to miss out on all the twists and turns in this YA Fantasy journey.
Julie Hall is a USA Today bestselling, 11x award-winning author.
She writes YA paranormal / fantasy novels, loves doodles, and drinks Red Bull, but not necessarily in that order. Julie's daughter says that her super power is sleeping all day and writing all night... and well, she wouldn't be wrong.
Julie currently lives in Colorado with her four favorite people - her husband, daughter, and two fur babies.
I don't even know what to say about this series. It was truly phenomenal and mind blowing.
And I say that in deep seriousness. Never have I seen a story that made my faith so poignant in the joys and the struggles that I think every believer has. Audrey's struggles are deeply relatable and I laughed, cried, and laughed some more when reading her journey. (I think I cried my whole way through Dominion.)
THEN for the author to throw in a special bonus scene? Just rip my heart out with feels why don't you? Haha! It was fantastic! Felt like it was a little "love letter" to the fans of this series and completely gobbled it up. Thank you, author!
Truly, I can't recommend this series enough. If you need a character who is deeply realistic in their struggles of faith, life, and maybe even romance, I seriously recommend The Life After series. It has a special place in my heart and will remain so.
I listened to this complete box set on audible so this review is for the voices and story:
Voice: The female voice of the trilogy is a good fit for the story, easy to listen to and not confusing or anything since the different characters all have their own sort of voice. I love that she did the whole trilogy, well, the main three books that is.
The male voice for the companion story took a while to get used to after listening to the female voice for the first two books. But it wasn’t bad and easy to follow after getting used to. Just the fact that he pronounced ‘ichor’ completely different was a bit of a let down but otherwise the deep voice suited Logan and the different voices for the other characters were a plus, even if it was very different from what you’ve been getting used to by the female voice.
Huntress: 5 stars: I didn’t quite know what to make of this book. The blurb made Audrey out to be this girly girl, the whole “she’d rather discuss the color of her nails than break them on angelic weapons” was an exaggeration in my opinion. Sure, she’s not on board with being assigned the hunter job but more out of doubt than out of annoying “don’t wanna break my nails” type things. I do think that being so infuriated with het mentor Logan is what drives her to go trough the training. Not that she had any say in the matter but still, she’s more fierce than the blurb gave her credit. Naturally I did enjoy this book, the growth that Audrey makes is not too much or too little so very enjoyable and believable.
Warfare: 5 stars: For me, this was the most epic one, since Audrey had to train a lot first, it wouldn’t make sense to let her deal with demons the entire first book. In this book there is more action. I have to say that this is one of the few books where I don’t find the “being clueless” factor annoying. It’s more a sort of a blunt “act first, think later” kind of thing than thinking through every detail that is given. Since I do think every detail through, it was a surprise for me just how clueless Audrey was at times and to my own surprise that just made me laugh! I think that’s because it fits her character so well, but that’s just a guess. This book had some hilarious parts that had me curling up in silence completely so as to not wake up anyone (it was night at the time). But they were hilarious.
Logan: 5 stars: I found the companion story about Logan a great addition to the story. It was nice to get to know Logan a bit better and see how his ordeal made him in the Logan we know from the trilogy.
Dominion: 4 stars: This book was good, although I’d rather seen the story evolve in another direction. Ultimately the story felt whole so I enjoyed it nontheless. It did resolve around faith and believing a bit more than the previous books so if it were to offend you by reading the (main) character needing to have faith, this might not be your book or series rather. With the faith and believing part, it feels like a warming story, even if you don’t believe the same things described in these books. And of course, the hunter-parts provide the action again like with the previous books.
This series was perfection on so many levels. Romance - Check Action - check Religion (and well done) - check Supporting characters with depth - Check Read in one weekend - Check Check Check
Julie Hall is one of my fav YA authors. I cannot wait for her July release of the third installment of her next series!
Read everything she writes. You will Not be disappointed.
Absolutely fantastic read! This series is everything you could want and more. Julie Hall brings this world to life and sucks you in so completely that you will not want to put it down. Highly recommend!
I have nothing bad to say about this series. I ate this up & was having such a fun time reading & then something happened in book 3 and all my emotions came out😭😭 when something is unexpected it’s such an amazing feeling😭😭🩷🩷
Honestly. Infinity stars, one of my best reads ever.
The bonus material in this edition is exactly what my heart needed. I love that this is a set now and I can easily hook up my friends with the whole series at once! Halls writing is superb and I absolutely adore the characters and world. Highly recommend these babies.
This series speaks to my heart in ways that no other series could. From the flawed but moldable characters, the fierce determination our main girl, Audrey, displays, the adventure that unfolds at exactly the right pace to keep me hooked and begging for more. It's hard to sleep when you find a series like this.
The final book contained twists that I couldn't see coming and made me want to throw the book across the room, while running after it and hugging it the moment I pick it up and apologize profusely to it.
If you like dragons, fiery swords, kick-butt heroines, a group of friends with a tight bond, and a super swoon-worthy guy... THIS SERIES IS FOR YOU! Also, if you enjoyed The Mortal Instruments or Buffy THIS IS FOR YOU!!
Julie Hall's freshman series is a fantastic adventure of afterlife fiction. It opens the imagination to consider what could be. While it is not theologically sound, and the author will agree, it definitely is a conversation starter for what the afterlife might hold. Audrey is a complicated girl, with a lost memory, impossible expectations to meet, mistakes to overcome, and a heartthrob guy she can't stand be around and can't stand to be without. She has to learn to rely on God to make it through some kick-butt battles and (literal) hellish attacks that make your heart beat faster and makes you wonder why your nails are bitten to stubs. In particular the third book is filled with so many fantastic twists and turns you can't help but be blown away by the mastery of storytelling. It's a fast paced story and a quick read. Now bundled as a complete series it's the perfect gift for yourself or someone who loves young adult Christian (or even religious-themed) fantasy fiction. There's even a bonus scene in the Complete Series bundle you can't get anywhere else. Hall does a fantastic job of bringing readers back into all the best moments of the series and provides a fantastic wrap-up (and a teaser) for her avid fans.
I don’t know what I was thinking when I opened up the first book in this series but it certainly wasn’t what I found there. I just casually started reading and immediately found myself engrossed. I honestly could not stop flipping the pages until the end. Even then I knew I wanted more. I was enraptured with the world building! Also, I felt an immediate bond with her characters. They became my friends. More Awesomeness in the second book! I didn’t think that the second book in this series could get any more awesome than the first one but this one far surpasses it. It brought tears to my eyes. I loved reading the novella about Logan. He’s a strong character in this series and remains a faithful believer and follower of the Creator. The last book in the series had a lot of surprising twists and back and forth turns. I’m hoping that there will be more side stories after this because there are so many characters I would love to read more about. I don’t like having to say goodbye to them but I have enjoyed getting to know them. I highly recommend reading this series.
Julie Hall writes complex and interesting YA characters while dealing with life and death issues in the real and life after (death) worlds. Be ready for a roller coaster ride as tragedy strikes and the adventure begins. Each book introduces new characters while continuing our favorites Audrey and Logan. I read each book as they came out the first time, but if you’re just discovering The Life After series you have hit the jackpot. Put your plans for the week aside because you won’t stop reading! In the novella Logan adds his backstory and helps the reader understand his motivations and his friendship with Kaitlyn. The last book of the series had me loving and hating Julie Hall bringing me to tears more than once. I forgave her in the end! Bonus scene returns Logan and Audrey to the place of their first time working together making connections in a new, romantic way. It also heightens the intrigue between Kaitlyn and reformed bad boy Morgan.
Oh, wow. Where to start? This series was a whole ride of awesomeness from the very beginning. I really can't believe this is the author's first series - her writing skills are just top notch! I loved her characters and the crazy ride she takes them on (yeah, reader included), but I especially enjoyed the fact that one can follow her growing as a writer as the story progresses through all the books plus the novella (don't even get me started on Logan *swoon*). You have romance, you have action, you have a fierce heroine with some really cool friends and with some epic adventures (Warning: be prepared for the plot twists). Believe me, it's seriously worth the ride, I mean, reading, and if you're still on the fence, just that bonus scene is worth it! So go read it!
Note to the author: *high five* for a seriously awesome series!!
Fascinating Break-Out series by Julie Hall that left me wanting MORE!!!!!
This book is a great conversation-starter to discuss the after life and eternal destination with family, friends, and strangers. Julie provides lots of scripture references which I loved and could relate to in a lot of instances. The series contains appropriate levels of romance for all ages. In a few more years, my daughter will read it.
It's a nail-biting, action-packed adventure filled with twists and turns. Strong character development and growth. Wonderful world-building.
Learning to rely on God during all trials and tribulations isn't always easy, especially for Aubrey. She's faced with one life-changing circumstance after another. Thankfully, she's not alone. Grab these books to follow Aubrey, Logan, and many others along this journey.
I love this series and have reviewed them separately, so if you’d like to see more of my detailed thoughts on Huntress, Warfare, Logan, and Dominion, please go check out my reviews of each book on their respective pages!
This review is for the bonus scene only available in the omnibus edition which was SO WORTH the agony of choosing which version of books to buy as it is so stinking cute and adorable! 😍🥰😍🥰 I LOVE it and do hope we get a Katlin story in the near future! Pretty please? 🥺 I’m super curious about where her story will go from here, though I do hope Audrey and Logan will somehow be incorporated into it. 😉
Audible listen. Narrator did a good job; she fit Audrey’s character well, and the recording was of good quality. There’s a male narrator for Logan’s story, he did a good job as well. I do love when you can get a whole series for 1 credit! Super awesome!
Book 1 - Huntress - 4 stars
Cool idea! Audrey “wakes up” in the afterlife with a sort of selective amnesia, and finds herself assigned to the hunter/huntress department. Audrey feels like she’s been assigned to the wrong department because she’s small and weak looking, seems to be of the overly girly persuasion, and it seems like she’s really bad at the training/athletic aspect. Plus, it doesn’t help that she was supposed to go through some orientation to learn about some very important aspects of the afterlife, and instead of someone telling her these important things, they just let her bumble along; those in charge of the afterlife seem very unorganized. People just don’t come clean with her; they talk in riddles, so it puts Audrey in the damsel in distress role. Audrey is likable and I can see her becoming more fierce in the future, but for now, she can be a bit bratty and naive, so that can be annoying. I tried not to be too annoyed with her since it’s not her fault that she’s clueless; the people just really suck. Overall, I found the whole premise entertaining and am looking forward to continuing on with this series. There is some entertaining actions scenes too, and there’s some interesting magical things going on in the afterlife. I would’ve liked more romance; there’s only a pinch in this book, but the story is an enjoyable one. A fun read! Hope to see Audrey growing more kick butt in the future books!
Book 2 - Warfare - 4 stars
Interesting ideas in this series! Enjoy the whole angels versus demons scenario, and needing to train to fight those demons, so they don’t take over the world. In this one, Audrey is training when she learns that evil is targeting her family, so she sets out to help them without putting much thought into it. Audrey’s act now think later mentality does get rather annoying. The big evil is trying to get Audrey, so he’s using her family to lure her in to his way of things. Also, there is some really annoying stuff with Audrey leading Jonathan on when she knows she really wants Logan; she acts like she didn’t know she was leading Jonathan on, which really put her in a negative light for me. This scenario made her come across as so selfish and rude, or if she really was so oblivious, then maybe she’s just lacking in the brains and common sense department. I’m having a difficult time not getting so frustrated by Audrey’s character, but the story is an entertaining one. Interested in seeing where this story goes.
Book 2.5 - Logan - 3 stars
This short story is Logan’s POV, and goes into his past and how he became a demon hunter in the afterlife. It was nice to learn more about Logan, but made me feel like Audrey is way too immature and young for him after reading this. Logan partied a lot and slept around with lots of women when he was alive, so Audrey’s immaturity just feels like so much more of a hurdle between Logan and Her; especially after her childish actions in the last book. It is nice to see that Logan has grown as an individual though; he was mentally weak when he was alive, but it seems death has agreed with him. Liked the story, but didn’t exactly, increase my liking of this series.
Book 3 - Dominion - 3 stars
Finale book! Audrey sets out to rescue Logan from Hell; really enjoy when Hell is a setting, makes for some fun creepiness! I do enjoy aspects of this series, but Audrey is a hard character to root for. The angels versus demons is a fun scenario, and I do enjoy the connection between Audrey and Logan. Although, I still think she’s way to immature to be in any type of romantic relationship; who in the heck hides under a bed after being caught in bed with someone? You have already been seen in bed, so trying to hide is just so idiotic. I guess it’s supposed to be humorous. Audrey has barely learned anything throughout the whole series, she continues to lack common sense and rush into decisions. Can’t stand when characters lie aka withhold crucial information, which causes problems that could have easily been resolved with honesty. Despite not liking Audrey much, I was still entertained by the story, but then the story just started to drag when a twist was introduced. I didn’t like how this story ended up; I figured early on in this series what a twist may be, and it turned out I was right, which I wasn’t happy about because I don’t like how it was handled. Too much time spent on this twist, such slow going, and then the payoff for slogging through the twist part of this book was just so rushed. So I was disappointed in that. Overall, I liked the overall premise for this series, but Audrey and the romantic aspects for this series let me down.
Unforgettable & Fascinating Series! I bought these separately, and now they are in this wonderful boxed set!
Huntress, Book 1: This novel dealing with life after and with the supernatural realm is wonderfully captivating and fascinating (and I wish I could think of more adjectives)! Although it's not meant to be theologically correct, it IS very well-written and very well-developed, weaving the spiritual realm together with the physical realm. I can’t begin to share all of my favorite quotes – some which make me laugh, like: “Are you kidding? They sent me a celestial babysitter?” And, “He should not be allowed to be dead with those eyes.” Then there are lines that speak so deeply, like: “ It was then that I became ashamed to look up at the God I’d forgotten along with the rest of my life.” And: “I was ashamed when time and time again that He went unthanked – that the blessings He gave me went unappreciated…” It. Is. So. Well. Done!!! "A good book makes you want to live in the story. A great book gives you no choice." This book gives you no choice!!! I have now read it twice, reading the ARC copy of the new edition, and I enjoyed this book even more the second time! I have fallen in love with Audrey and Logan, and many of the other characters in this story! And I can't WAIT to read the next part of this series. This is a must read for adults, as well as youth. This is my own free honest review, and I also chose to buy a copy of this new edition because this cover is so gorgeous!!
2. Warfare, Book 2: This is a thoroughly captivating book, and I was not expecting some of the turns it took! Well-written and developed, this Christian fantasy world, whose characters almost seem too real, also contains humor that often made me laugh out loud. My favorite lines are: “The more you know of Him, the more you will be able to see the way He does, and the more you will be able to hear His voice above the throngs.” And: “The gentle whispering of His truth in your ears and heart, comes with knowing Him.” And: “God was big enough to take care of a situation I obviously was not capable of doing anything about.” But there are so many, many more!! This author writes books that not only encourage and entertain with the afterlife her imagination has created, but they also cause me to pause and think. I always want “to read ahead in the story.” But “I’m sorry to say you’re going to have to take this one a page at a time” or one book at a time! I already can NOT WAIT for the next of these stories!!!! I read this early as an ARC copy and have freely chosen to leave my own honest review.
3. Dominion, Book 3: Touching, Emotional, Stunning, Captivating, Thought-provoking, even so Believable that it seems it IS real!! It’s a story that’s unforgettable, and one that is even PROVOKING!!! There are wonderful themes of forgiveness, holding on to truth, trust, especially trusting that regardless of what happens, God is good & wants good things for us. Excellent visuals for important spiritual truths! I read an ARC copy, and freely chose on my own to leave my own honest review.
4. Logan, Book 4: I was so excited to read Logan’s own account of his life and after life! This author has a way of gaining your attention and keeping it. While it’s just a fiction book that isn’t meant to be theologically correct, it still gives the reader fun & thoughtful descriptions of what our after life MIGHT be like. Self-realizations like realizing that our lives should be spent on people who matter, rather than on things and on ourselves. Another interesting observation is that the physical scars were actually “a manifestation of emotions or experiences we hadn’t fully recovered from.” The author weaves a tale that is realistic while still being fantasy, sometimes intense, and sometimes humorous. I enjoyed the insight and history of Logan’s character in this quick, easy read. I received this as an ARC copy, and I chose on my own to leave my own honest review.
Huntress (Life After Book 1): 4 stars Warfare (Life After Book 2): 5 stars Dominion (Life After Book 3): 4 stars Logan (Life After Book 4): 4 stars
A Trinity-style, Christian-based epic. Audrey awakes in the afterlife. She must traverse her new existence while learning everything she can to become a demon hunter. Along the way, she meets a cadre of characters: Joe, Logan, Kaitlyn, Romana, and Hugo. A lot of her struggle is accepting God's grace and forgiveness. But the other characters in the story provide a bit of a challenge to her.
In the audio format, Logan's story falls between Warfare and Dominion. If you are reading this series, I recommend you follow that approach.
Slow at times, and fast at others, the story offers a variety of visuals and emotions. After everything is said and done, the ending is quite rewarding.
Action-packed. Entertaining. Funny. Great world building. Happily Ever After. Haunting. Inspirational. Romantic. Scary. Tear-jerker. Tragic. Twisted. Unpredictable. Whimsical. Wonderful characters.
This was a great series and the spirituality got stronger with each book. Audrey wakes up dead, in the afterlife, with no memories of her past life and is immediately assigned to hunt demons. She believes God’s made a huge mistake, but everyone keeps telling her that he never does. When an ancient weapon with unique powers chooses her to be its wielder, all eyes are on her, including Satan’s. She has a rough journey ahead of her, makes some amazing friends, and discovers her purpose in life. This series is filled with so many emotions, action, darkness, hope, and revelations that drew me in from the start. Adam and Vanessa did an amazing narration duet! Vanessa did the majority of the narration since the three main books are told in Audrey’s POV and I feel like she did a terrific job portray all of the emotions and being each character’s personality to life. I thought Adam was a perfect fit for Logan during the companion book told in Logan’s POV, but some of his female voices were a little hard to listen to. *I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
Julie Hall has done something to me no other author has done. She has made me cry throughout an ENTIRE series. I cried tears of joy, sadness, anger, all of the emotions! I feel so honored to have read this series. It really makes you think about the world, and what comes next. It makes you question yourself and who you are in the best way. It makes you contemplate life and what you want to do with YOURS! I’ll be honest, I was a little scared once I saw the topic of religion come up, but I am so happy I continued on with it and stuck to it because I feel like I myself went on the journeys WITH Audrey, the main character, and was truly in her head, not just watching from the outside. This series felt like a lot more than three and a half books and I am so happy for that! Usually trilogies only take me a week to get through, but this one was so good I knew I had to take my time and just enjoy the process! Highly HIGHLY recommend! Trigger warnings: Death, religion, afterlife
I just finished listening to the audiobooks for the Life After series. Such a wonderfully engaging story weaving together fantasy, faith, and love. Audrey is a captivating main character, and it is easy to fall in step with her journey. Each of the books adds layers and new dimensions to Audrey's time learning about herself, her spirituality, and her relationships with those around her.
Honestly, I was not a big fan of the narrators using multiple character voices. When either narrator was speaking as a character of the opposite sex, I was immediately drawn out of the story. So much so, that I often had to pause the book, go back and listen to refocus on the words and try to ignore the voice. That feature was disappointing, as the story itself was highly engaging. I do wish I had just been reading the digital book, rather than the audio.
I literally couldn't put this story down! Julie Hall takes us on a wonderful ride through a fantasy world, with a huge basis in Christianity. I absolutely loved the characters, and watching their struggles and growth. There are so many twists that I didn't see coming, with the perfect amount of humor and romance. The included novella, Logan, was perfect in helping to better understand one of the other MCs better! Audrey tells this story from her POV, so it was great to actually get a better idea of who Logan was, and what made him who he is when we meet him. I shed so many tears throughout this series, but especially when I got to Dominion. I cannot recommend this series enough! I'm literally devastated to be done. I have the worst book hangover. I have a feeling this series is going to stay with me for a long time to come!
This Series Has My 💗 I absolutely love this series!! It's up lifting, thought provoking and will touch your heart, soul and mind is so many different ways!! These characters are each so uniquely detailed and will tug upon your heart. I never wanted to read those last few precious words. The gorgeous boxed set includes bonus material that is exclusive to this set. I was beyond excited to read those and they were just as well written and sigh inducing as you would expect. Julie Hall is such a gifted author! Her words are timelessly beautiful and they will stay with you well after you've set the book down. I could not recommend her work enough and she is most definitely a one-click writer! Do not hesitate to pick up this gorgeous set, you will not be disappointed!!
This series is the best! One of my all-time favorites! I could hardly put it down and when life interrupted me, oh gosh. Let's just say, I was not a happy camper. I couldn't get enough of it. The world, the characters, just everything about it is awesome. I became fully immersed in the pages and everything else faded away. I was right there in the middle of the story with these characters, experiencing everything they were. I can't say enough good things about it. And the bonus scene! OMG! I loved getting both Logan and Audrey's POVs and to see that particular event! Swoon! I laughed, I cried happy tears, I had a perpetual smile on my face. And then to get Kaitlin and Morgan's POVs was just an added bonus. So good!
Not going to lie this one had me crying several times. The way you are able to write a story about what happens to us when we die & make us understand how the Father, Son & Holy Ghost affect our lives is mind blowing. I could never make a story that explained the topics you chose to address in this book. Let's face it demons are hard to write about and don't get me started on trying to describe them. Through the deeper meaning and more important message of salvation through Christ is also a beautiful love story. The twists & turns at the end of the book had me really sweating wondering what their life would be like. I just want you to know I have been recommending it to everyone.
Wow what an experience this book was. I loved this mostly, at time irritated at Audrey and Logan and at the end pissed at you Julie a couple of times but you brought me back from the brink. I have never cried so much during a book...ugly cry as I felt God was speaking to me personally. I believe He put me in the path of this book when I needed it most, even now as I write this review I am getting emotional. I have Kindle unlimited so I was able to read this for free but am going to buy it so I can highlight and reread as needed. Thank you Julie for bringing a book to life that was a great story as well as reminding us readers of God’s unconditional love. It was truly an eye opener.
I fell head over heels for this story! I'm honestly disappointed that she's only written three books up until now. I need at least seven more.
Every page I turned the story got better, every twist escalated the stakes and made me want more. The themes touched my heart reminding me of all the things I need to believe when I'm struggling through a traumatic event. Tears flowed. Laughter rang out. These books in this series are a magical journey that will carry you from page one to page eight hundred and twenty-eight.
I can't wait for Julie's next book and will be following her to make sure I don't miss it!
If I could have given more than 5 stars, I would have. I first saw this BIG book at Penned Con and fell in love with the cover. I didn't even open the book (like I would usually). I simply said I must have it. Honestly, I wasn't disappointed.
At first, I thought it was going to be a heavy-handed take on Heaven and Hell. I won't lie. The book is thought provoking (in a good way). I thoroughly enjoyed the characters, and the world Julie Hall created. I hope she'll be writing more with the secondary ones in the series.
If you love great stories with well-rounded characters who fight for everything they believe in, then you must check out this series. You won't regret it!
If I could give this series more than 5 stars I totally would. I had never heard of Julie Hall until I saw something on Instagram about her Fallen series that was posted by Audrey Grey. After reading the first 2 of the Fallen series I picked this one up and I haven't put it down since. I fell in love with this series from the moment I started reading it. It had me laughing, falling in love, intense anger, massive tears and a whole other slew of emotions. She is such an amazing writer that I am sad to say that I never knew about until now. I can't wait to read more stuff by this amazingly talented woman.
I am passionate about books and for over 30 years I have read thousands of authors. I have to say that these series of books are absolutely amazing. The story drew me into them. I cried at the sad parts and laughed aloud at the amusing parts. I read all of them in 2 and a half days. I literally couldn't put them down. It saddens me that I came to the end of their story but I sure look forward to reading more books by this author. This story not only told me about an amazing journey of characters but the feeling of faith in it was just absolutely mind blowing. A must read!
I've read plenty of "afterlofe" books that touch on religion, but lean more into paranormal territory. I thought that's what this would be, but it's very, very heavily leaning into religious dogma. At certain points, every single page is about the MC learning to trust in god, tons of scripture quoting, lots of lessons handed down to her by the almighty. It was way, way too much religion for me. I wish there had been more of a heads up before biying the audio version, but I might have. Missed it. If you'd like a long romance that takes place after death, and focuses entirely on scripture lessons, this is your jam.
I say that because my response to every book was a shout of incredulity. "Holy Cheeseballs!" These books are UNBELIEVABLY good. Probably my second favorite series after Narnia.
When you're ranked right below Narnia in my opinion, that's a pretty big flipping deal.
