This was a beautiful, sweet and lighthearted romance read ❣️
After my last unhappy reading experience, Brad and Sonia’s story was exactly what I needed!!!
An enjoyable slow burn office romance with a fake boyfriend and not-exactly-enemies to lovers!!!
The writing was wonderful, the lines were amazing, the characters well developed and easy to connect with, there was romance and little drama, I really devoured it!
Brad’s brothers were very interesting and his nieces adorable!

Over the years I've come to love Mia Kayla's books. Every time she publishing a new book, I get giddy with excitement.
The blurb of this book sounds like a cliche one but don't be fooled...Boss I Love To Hate was one entertaining read! I loved it! I enjoyed reading the office romance/enemies to lovers storyline so much so that I didn't realise I was coming to the end of the book.
I enjoyed the characters and their personalities... I laughed my ass off during so many scenes in this book...I loved the wit and humour!

I am actually going to rate this book 2 stars. But then I forced myself to finish it and end up liking it very much. Especially Brad. The name of the hero can be better than Brad, but hey, its just a name.
At first Brad is very confusing character. He is portrays as a mean and cruel boss. But underneath it, he is warm, vulnerable and in desperate need of a good woman. A woman he loves and builds life with. Little did he knows, Sonya has been sitting in front of him the whole time. Sonya is his secretary. A secretary that he bullied.
This is a classic office romance. The story and the plot can be more complex, but the author chooses to make it simple. Then adding Brad grovelling about the last 30% toward the end, really steal my heart.
Overall i do enjoy this book very much

I always loved enemies to lovers, office romance story and it was an easy, realistic and humorous book to read.
I really enjoyed this story. The back and forth play between Sonia and Brad is what makes this book.
A great read that I will definitely recommend to others!

This had a slower start than I expected, though I think some of that is because I thought Sonia was a bit pathetic. I get being sad and all, but pining for a guy who dumped you eight months along just isn't engaging to me. And at least part of that is because this is a romance story so if he were worth her pining, he'd be the romantic lead. So we know he isn't worthy of her emotional distress and seeing her not only not moving on, but having him be such a major part of her motivation was off-putting.
And by that I mean because she's going to cash in her favor with Brad so that he'll pretend to be in a relationship with her because of him. It's not just that this is a weak thing to do in general, but that it's specifically weak because the sole motivation for it is because she cares about what her jerkwad ex thinks, even still. I mean, it's bad enough that she keeps thinking of the other woman as "my replacement". But to start using Brad as a replacement was just weak on every level (though at least not on the level of deceiving him so at least there's that).
The thing is that Sonia is otherwise depicted as strong and feisty. She doesn't put up with crap from Brad, which is why he has so much respect for her coming into the story. And the thing is that Brad isn't great to start, either. I mean, we see enough of his attitude towards women to know that Sonia is right not to go there. He's dismissive and entirely short-term and he just doesn't respect the women he "dates", even a little bit. Indeed, the story is about him having learned to respect Sonia before he even thinks about her in a romantic context.
Offsetting the negative is Brad's family. By which I mean his nieces. They start out as kind of plot devices and cringey ones at that. But once Sonia starts getting involved with Sarah (the older one), that smooths out. Indeed, at about that point, the entire story smooths out—at least, it smoothed out enough I wasn't tempted to drop out from that point on. From there, I just loved seeing Brad become engaged, and then energized, and then doing his best to prove he was worth her emotional investment. He had a lot of ground to make up, but not unreasonable ground and I liked seeing him pull out all the stops. I particularly liked how he internalized early that he was in it for her happiness and that her choice was what mattered. In other words, it never seemed to occur to him to replace her choices with his own, but rather for him to convince her that she needed to choose him. If that makes sense.
One final note deserves mention. There's a kind of subtle misogyny in both of the main characters' thoughts about the other woman (Jean?). It's bad enough that Sonia doesn't even name her (referring to her exclusively as "my replacement" in her thoughts), but they're also rather derogatory about her as a woman. Like, all her faults are along feminine lines and put in terms of her female attributes. Her heels are too high, her makeup too painty, her laugh too artificially girly, etc. It's even said at one point that she was doing things that would probably have worked when she was younger. I found this an interesting frame, particularly coming from both main characters, but not in a good way.
Anyway, this has enough friction that I can't really go higher than three stars. I did like it once things smoothed out, though, and that particularly applied to Brad. Seeing him grow into the kind of man Sonia could respect and rely on was outstanding.
A note about the Audiobook: Alex Kydd has a weird delivery that struck me every time we switched to Brad's perspective. He speaks slowly and with emphasis and the accent struck me as "bro", though I couldn't say why. Interestingly, he's actually pretty good with the female parts, but I much preferred Sarah Puckett's voice for everyone, particularly Brad. He's not on the sample for this book, but you can hear him on Audible's sample for other books (like Home Game) and it's consistent so you can double-check me if you like (or check to see if your response is similar).
A note about Steamy: There's only one explicit sex scene putting this on the low end of my steam tolerance. It was a little overdone but it fit well into the structure of the story and I really liked seeing Brad's care come out in his physical interactions. So this is well-enough.

Brad Sebastian Brisken is the boss of Sonia Vanducci and while she doesn’t let him tread all over her she also makes no bones about the fact she hates him to her friends and family! She even has a photo of his face as a dartboard in her apartment which has been in regular use over the two years she’s worked for him! So could they ever like each other?
The humour in this book is outstanding and really has you laughing out loud. The teen issue with Brad’s niece is just one example that is hilarious and so easy to visualise when reading it. I won’t spoil it for you, it’s just too funny to do that to you.
Relationships, of any kind including family and friends, are hard things to equalise and balance and this book explores the issues involved with past and possible future ones. As well, the character types that makeup partners in relationships which makes such an impact and difference.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story and recommend it to everyone.

A few months ago, I signed up to the free trial of Kindle Unlimited because my sister wanted to read one specific book that was available there. Of course, I told myself I’d cancel it right after, and yet, here I am, reading all kinds of nonsense now available to me for the price of subscription.
What can I tell you? It was satisfyingly predictable and predictably satisfying.
In general, I’m rather uncomfortable with love stories between bosses and their subordinates, because in real life the power dynamic really muddles things up. And often it’s just pure sexual harassment. Especially that in this book, it’s somehow her who gets fired for sleeping with her boss… Yes, it all gets eventually undone and skimmed over and maybe a bit of misunderstanding, because we are supposed to like the characters who made this horrific decision. This really pissed me off, and Sonia should’ve just dumped that boss of her and sue the whole company for all their worth.
There is also this backstory about how the boss (Brad or whatever his name was) kept ‘losing’ assistants because he slept with all of them. How exactly did that work and how come it didn’t end in a series of costly lawsuits, I don’t know.
But anyway, this is romancelandia, so let’s just roll with it. Let’s pretend that being a billionaire isn’t inherently unethical. That you can fire multiple assistants in your quest of looking for love. Because yes, Brad might be a promiscuous manwhore, but it’s all because he is looking for love in all the wrong places. Deep inside he is a family man with a heart of gold and all kinds of other personality traits that are at odds with being a ruthless businessman and a billionaire.
And what is up with the assistants being called secretaries in this book? 1950s called and want their secretaries back. It makes me feel the author never worked in an actual office in this century.
So keep all of it in mind, I have to admit I enjoyed this silliness despite myself. There were so many things that would be so wrong in real life (your boss telling you details about his sex adventures?), and the whole enemies to lovers trope only works in romantic fiction. I did a short survey among my friends and my conclusion is clear that if a woman hates a guy, it is usually for very good reasons relating to his completely messed-up personality, misogyny and general assholery. You can’t just add sex to it and turn the whole thing into love.
Wow, I’m conflicted about this book. In general the older I get, and the healthier my own relationships (romantic or otherwise) get, the more difficult it is for me to enjoy romance novels, as 90% of them just thrive on dysfunction and toxic tropes.
Also, hey, I forgot that bit where the whole premise of the book is hinged on the fact that a grown-ass man is absolutely terrified of periods and goes into a state of complete panic because his niece got her period. That’s always a nice touch.

I know there’s a book oit there where the fmc also hates her boss but also needs him to be her date for a family wedding and she blackmails him to do it because she caught him in a compromising position with another woman. This book is so, so similar, for what I could understand from the blurb.

An entertaining read from start to finish.
Boss I Love to Hate is kind of a second chance at romance. However, these two characters never dated one another and haven't had an inkling of desire until a deal was struck between them. It doesn't hurt that neither person looks like a troll or anything. Now that I think about it.. this book could definitely be a mash of enemies to lovers.. and a second chance at romance.
In it, you will meet Sonia and Brad. He is her boss and she is his secretary. These two had a really fun banter throughout the book. They also had obvious chemistry so it kind of worked out for these. Especially when her ex came back into her life (sort of). God, what a douche canoe Jeff was. I hated him and how he treated Sonia.. plus his new girlfriend Jean. He doesn't deserve either of them to be honest.
The only thing I was weirded out by was that they fired Sonia at the end.. but then she became her brothers secretary instead? I don't know.. I mean I got it because they were working together.. but people date each other all the time in the workplace so yeah - it was just a bit weird.

Boss I Love to Hate: An Office Romance was so fun! I felt slumpy-ish again in the first days of may and a funny enemies to lovers office romcom is what I really needed. I loved how fluffy this was. There wasn't much angst which usually would lower my enjoyment but it worked perfectly in this one. I loved Sonia and Brad's journey and development. I also loved his little nieces. They were adorable. If you need a sweet, fun, quick read I absolutely recommend this one.

Up until 25% the story didn’t progress.
The characters mentioned the book were downright terrible. I saw no development. Sonia was judgemental and rude and throughout the book she was being being an ass for just doing her job? Even though she mentions that it was because she didn’t want him to flirt with her or stuff like that, the whole mean and rude attitude didn’t work for me. Also her obsession with her ex? Please whats the deal with that.
Look, I don’t have any problem with this whole trope. Where you hate your boss or where you hate the other person, I live for that banter but only when it’s done tastefully. Bashing the other character because of how much you hate them, or how much their work ethic is trashy and what not is so (?????) and at the same time you are going to tell that person about their faults. Not to mention in the same breath, you say that you’re getting exceptional pay.
She justifies her rudeness and her behaviour by saying that Brad isn’t a great boss, which we can agree upon but in the next breath she says that she’s overpaid, she loves the company and wouldn’t leave it for anything? Why not simply go to the HR or demand a position change OR ATLEAST TELL BRAD THAT HE IS NOT A GREAT BOSS. And he didn’t even seem like a terrible boss in the way she describes him to be.
She never mentioned her problems to him so her whole anger, and rude behaviour was very icky. He honestly seems like a clueless cute man lmao. I only liked her in the last chapter and epilogue. That’s it. Otherwise, she was insufferable.
Also, the fact that Brad was saying her things that went out of professional capacity was wrong yes, but she should have denied, went to HR, literally anything. Yes, I get it it’s for the plot but at what cost lmao. My brain cells??
Sonia’s best friend inviting her ex to her wedding was honestly such a shitty move. I don’t care what anyone says. Brad’s brother saying that there’s no chance that he could like anyone other than himself was pretty shitty. Sarah, Brads niece, liking Sonia better than Brad and bitching about him with her didn’t sit right with me even though he loved his nieces more than anything.
The characters lacked spark and chemistry so it was pretty damn bland.
The only characters that worked out for me were Brad and Mary, his niece. And the ending, I loved how it panned out and how Sonia moved past her fears and took the leap.
This book honestly made me want to switch from romance to another some other genre which is crazy. That’s how messed up this book was.

The only characters that worked out for me were Brad and Mary, his niece. And the ending, I loved how it panned out and how Sonia moved past her fears and took the leap.
This book honestly made me want to switch from romance to another some other genre which is crazy. That’s how messed up this book was.
There was a lot of potential. So many good tropes wasted.

Read 2: Dang this is still a great slow burn boss/secretary read. I was mildly enraged by Charles and Mason at the end. They really had no right to start making moves without talking to Brad and why wasn’t moving her to be Mason’s secretary their first thought, not an afterthought?
I had put off reading this one for awhile. I think because in the first book of this series, they really played up how much of a player Brad was. If there is one thing I hate in a romance, it’s a man-whore. Well, I’ve been reading a little slew of office romances lately so I decided to give it a go finally. I’m happy I did, I really loved it.
They made it very clear in the beginning that Brad was tired of his philandering ways and I don’t think it played a huge role in the story so it didn’t bother me as much as it usually does. I love a romance where the guy relentlessly pursues the heroine and that’s what I got in this book. I loved how surprised he was that he had these feelings that he may have been suppressing for Sonia, the only woman to not be interested in him, and the way that he sweetly went after her, not backing down. It’s definitely worth the read.
Now I have to bring myself to read Mason’s book! He was such an arse in this one that I’ll probably put that one off for awhile too lol.

Boss I love to Hate was an effortless read. The story pace was perfect, the character development thorough and the dialogue is both realistic and humorous. However, the build of the romantic relationship in Boss I Love to Hate is what makes it a great read.
Sonia is a kick arse heroine. She isn't impressed by her boss Brad. His good looks and his money don't hide the fact that he is a self-centred arse. She does her job well and has zero feelings towards her hunky boss of two years. Her friend calls him BILF; an acronym taken from the popular MILF. Sonia calls him, not to his face, of course, BILK. I'm sure you can guess what the K stands for!
I enjoyed the dual perspectives of Boss. It allowed the reader to see the character development of both Sonia and Brad intimately. This was especially important for Brad's character, as his self-enlightenment was astounding.
I feel that this novel could be a part of a connected series of standalone novels. Both of Brad's brothers have interesting stories that I would love to read.

Wow, this is a very cute enemies to lovers, office romance story.
I loved the banter between Sonia and Brad before she showed Brad how much of a douch noodle he was. I LOVED how they both understood the value of putting family first in their own ways.
The way Brad showed Sonia how to not take things so seriously, to be able to just breath and be herself a little more. You gotta love a book boyfriend who can laugh at himself. This is most definitely a you gotta read it for me :)

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. This book was such a good read. An enemies to lovers.... kind of. Enemies might be a strong word but either way this book was great. Also it was pretty funny. I laughed out loud at Sonia's dartboard!!! There is a lot of build up and tension. They don't run into anything which I loved it wasn't an insta love etc. When Brad owes Sonia favor we get to see Brad for who he really is and underneath the suits he actually is a human. That opens Sonia's eyes and they progress from there. Great read!!!

I found the set up of this a little... unbelievable. Like, everything set up neatly with a little bow. I also found Sonia’s attitude to Brad annoying - like he’s your boss, stop whining and do your job that your apparently getting Mary Sue overpaid for.
I guess I just didn’t like her - too childish, too entitled, too selfish, too dramatic - and hence lost interest in the story.

I’m a mood reader and as it turns out, I was in the mood for this!
I had three minutes to download something onto my kindle and get out the door. I had three hours of a kid’s birthday party to sit through, and three hours of avoiding forced small talk with fellow parents. This was the last book I’d added to my TBR list and therefore was the chosen one.
Honestly if I wasn’t short for time I don’t think I would have ever picked this up, but I’m so glad I did.
Does it have every single damn cliche known to man? Yes.
But did I love it? Also, yes.
Sonia and Brad weren’t necessarily made for each other, but they fit together so perfectly.
I don’t think the book was trying to be humorous, but I smiled throughout, which is so unlike me! Both of the main characters were endearing and neither got on my nerves. I found their relationship believable and genuine.
Given the many BILF (Boss I’d like to Fuck) and BILK (Boss I’d like to Kill) references, I defo think that author should have named this story BILK.

Starting out, this book seemed like a combination of tropes I usually enjoy very much, so imagine my surprise when it didn’t work for me! At all!
I’m one to rarely rate a book so low so I feel terrible, but it wasn’t just one or two things that didn’t gel for me; it was the writing style, the unlikable main characters, the cringey moments, the continuity issues, the constant repitition of phrases and thoughts, everything annoyed me. Moments that were supposed to be adorable were drawing eye rolls, I didn’t swoon where I was supposed to, secondary characters and their relationships didn’t hold my interest. I don’t know, to me it was like listening to an out of tune instrument, just jarring and uncomfortable. It got a bit better in the second half, but by then I just wanted it to end.
Maybe it was just me being cranky. Don’t let it deter you from giving it a try, especially since I seem to be among the minority who didn’t enjoy it. And there is a mildly redeeming Harry Potter date, so brownie points for that.

Boss I Love To Hate is such a fun, cute story. It is loaded with snarky humor. It is a real enemies to lovers romance that shows how narrow the line between love and hate is.
“Truth was, this was my fault. A lie that had snowballed into an avalanche, and now, I was asking him to lie for me again on our double date.”
This was my first book by this author and I can’t wait to discover more of her stories.

I loved this one!
Boss I Love To Hate is hot and steamy office romance that reminded me why I love this trope so much. The push and pull between Brad and Sonia are tangible, they keep you on your toes and you can't wait to turn the next page to find out what will happen next. The slowly burning romance between the duo is real, and it gradually evolves with their relationship. I loved Sonia's sassiness, and couldn't get enough of Brad's sweetness! Yes, the guy is acting like a big a*shole most of the time, but when you dig deep there is so much more to find and love.

This was my first Mia Kayla book and now I'm hooked!
The writing style for one has mr feeling like I'm right in the story with the characters which I love! Sonia, I freakin' adored her. She made me laugh so much.
*spoiler* the dart board of his face I loved so much.
Brad, you can't hate him. (Especially not the way Sonia did.. lol) especially when you get to know him.
Im not the greatest at reviews, but all I can say is I loved this book so much! Its definitely a new fav and I highly recommend it!

I've loved other books by Mia Kayla. I don't know what happened here.
The h is just unreasonably b*tchy to the H.
The H is described by the h as this horrible person but Mia forgot to show the H in action on how horrible he was. All I read was about how horrible the h was to someone who pays her salary.
At 20%, I was too annoyed. I need her salary and I wouldn't care if he is self-centered and kinda clueless as long as he doesn't mistreat me. And I didn't see any mistreatment from the boss, only from the employee.

DNF - I tried, I love office romances but this one I couldn't get into.
I didn't like Sonia, I get she was cheated on but she was kind of a bia to her boss and Brad want even that bad. Like at all.
He sleeps with girls and is a CEO. He might if shaped at her but he never did anything really mean to her.

Suprisingly this was pretty much a slow-burn. I originally expected something a bit more hot and on the angsty side - it was the reason I picked it up in the first place.
It was a bit blunt, MCs couldn't communicate well and the chemistry was lacking on both ends.
