Project Management Certification: What you need to know about PMP, CAPM, PRINCE2, and Agile qualifications

Project Management is an excellent career. It’s very definitely one where your peers will perceive you as being as good as your track record.

Why a Certification?
But recruiters will often need a short-hand as evidence of your capability. So, one of the commonest reasons for seeking a recognized qualification is as a way of securing jobs, contracts, or promotions. But there are plenty of other reasons too; not least of which is personal pride.

A certification program can give you:
• Structured learning
• Recognition from peers
• Access to membership benefits
• A mark of your skill and knowledge level

Certification is Difficult
But to be worth all of these things, a certification program must be demanding. Each one has its own set of formal requirements, alongside a whole lot of learning that you’ll need. You’ll need to take an exam, and maybe also maintain subsequent continuing professional development (CPD). And, let’s not forget, there’s a financial as well as a time cost to the process. Certification is not something to take lightly.

Mike has always tried to be effective in everything he does, and learned his business, management, and professional skills as a management consultant, leading large engagements on behalf of international consulting firm, Deloitte. Having established two training businesses after leaving Deloitte, Mike now focuses his work on writing, on business, management, and personal effectiveness seminars, and as a platform speaker.

They represent that experience and what he has learned about how to make his ideas easy to understand and implement.
