I struggled a little with my rating for this book. I couldn't decide if it would be a 3 or 4 Stars. If I were going on just the technical aspects of the book, then this would be a 5 Star read all the way. The writing was outstanding. The plot was original and intricate. It had a well rounded cast of secondary characters. The story jumped back and forth from past to present. <--- not a fave of mine. It didn't bother me overly much in this instance. However, personally I felt a more linear style of storytelling would have worked better than all the jumping around. Both Callan and Emery's characters were well developed. Both were likable characters. Last, it was all wrapped up in an open ended happy for now.

But hurt was different. Hurt lay beneath flesh and blood, within the hollow of the bone. Hurt was dark and lonesome.
The dream of one day knowing her in any sort of carnal way blended into the shadows of his zealous devotion to take care of her.
“I love ye like Hemingway loves the sea, with enough comprehension to fear it, respect it, and admit that it’s bigger than me by a million miles and too deep to ever know all its secrets."
She was the fastening of his world, the hinges of his soul, and the beauty of his life. His Em’ry. His leannán.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
