Three years after a heartbreaking defeat, Maggie’s world is unrecognizable. She’s gone underground to hide from Mordecai. Her career as a journalist is over. She’s scrubbing toilets in a seedy hotel just to make ends meet.
Mordecai’s vision for bot domination has brought the country to its knees. An attack on Congress and a humanoid army has shrouded Maggie’s city in fear. Tripp is a hostage on his own space station, forced to finance Mordecai’s campaign of terror.
Maggie, Ping, and Alex are fighting from the shadows, but Maggie can’t escape the wounds of her past. When she receives a message from Tripp, she puts a dangerous plan into motion. The mission could thwart Mordecai’s global ambitions and stop the spread of bots.
But when Maggie gets a visit from a mysterious stranger, her entire world is turned upside down. Overnight she becomes the most hunted woman alive and learns a shocking truth.

Everything has changed, they lost and have to deal with the fallout. Maggie stuck on earth in hiding while our villain is playing conquerer with the United States. Others not realizing who has the control or what is happening in the colony they all just do what they can to stay alive. Maggie was brokenhearted with thinking that Jonah had died, doing the minimum. While Jonah having no choice to comply to the villains demands or watch his close friends be hurt or killed for three years. Jonah had it bad, being taunted, manipulated, basically tortured not knowing what had even happened to Maggie. What I hated the most about this is that there has been no communication about their feelings. But they were both in a bad state for each other that when Maggie finally comes for Jonah things fall apart. By having everyone on their side working together to bring the villain down, they finally

This is a fantastic dytopian series. Benner has real talent and uses her research well in this plot regarding robots directed by a madman to take over the space colony on Elderon as well as America.

This fast paced plot is driven by a grieving Maggie who is now living undergrouns with a group of people who have escaped Elderon and must hide with the assistance of a resistance group.

On Elderon we have Tripp now held captive on his own space colony forced to make statements to the media that all’s well.... until he manages to send a message that throws a huge wrench into madman Mordecai’s devious plans and turns Maggie’s world upsidedown!

This is truly an exciting read for dystopian fans!

Desperate to see what happened.
After the devastating ending to the last book, I was desperate to get my hands on Book 4 - it did not disappoint.

Maggie is broken, her life not only ripped away from her by Mordecai, but broken at her core, almost like a robot herself: unfeeling, just going through the motions.

Years have passed and none of her friends have been able to pull her out of it, and then she is forced right back into the limelight, if she has nothing to live for, then she has nothing to lose, right?

Tarah Benner is one of my favorite authors. Not only is she very interactive with her fans, she is an excellent author. This series gets better with each book and I can’t wait for the next one in the series. (I usually do not like series with this many books but this is an exception to my rule).

A real ride

This series was fun and intense! I was actually expecting the next book in the series because the ending left a huge cliff hanger. You know you want that resolution typed out in front of you. Without saying too much we can speculate our heroes take the day!

The MCs have been through it all under the evil overlord Mordecai! Maggie and her crew had to go into witsec protection and all keep in hiding for the past three years while Jonah continues to lose himself more and more and Tripp continues to be tortured on Eldoran! Cannot wait for this to end!

This book in the series was better than the first 3 but was marred by the ending. Instead of executing the villain they decide to torture him (for fun? revenge? I have no idea) and yet again he gets away so another book can be written.

Great book

Can't wait for the next installment. Love the characters - just wish the two main ones spent more time together in this book.

The thought that went into this story line is amazing and intricate. Just when you think a situation will be solved, it takes a turn.
As always, in books I love, there is the love interest that blossoms in the face of tragedy and grows. And I love the strong woman that isn't over the top, in that strongness, still has her vulnerabilities.
The courage of all the characters is intense!

There is a small time jump from the end of the last installment. Where the characters are at in mind and personally had me empathizing and seriously worried. I also wanted to give them a kick in the butt to get them out of their funk and do what they had to. Like before, this ended with a serious cliffhanger. Tarah definitely knows how to keep us wanting more, and more I want!
